New Delhi, June 6 (IANS) Automobile giant Hero MotoCorp Ltd on Monday joined hands with the International Hockey Federation (FIH) as title sponsors for the upcoming men's Champions Trophy, to be staged in London from June 10.
In addition to title sponsorship of the mens event, Hero will also be a FIH lead partner of the womens Champions Trophy taking place from June 18 to 26 at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre in the English capital.
Speaking of this partnership, Hero MotorCorp chairman, managing director and CEO Pawan Munjal said: "Hockey continues to be among the most popular sports in various parts of the world, and Hero has been a constant partner of FIH in hosting marquee hockey events across the globe.
"Our title sponsorship of the Hero hockey Champions Trophy is also in keeping with the increasing global footprint of brand Hero, which is now present in 30 countries across Asia, Africa and South and Central America," he added.
Confirming the new agreement, FIH president Leandro Negre said: "We are delighted to continue our long-standing, positive relationship with Hero. As one of the worlds leading brands, partnering with one of Indias most successful businesses once again is great for our sport. We will be doing all that we can to ensure their investment continues to develop the sport of hockey globally."
