New Delhi, March 31 (IANS) Over one lakh motorists have been prosecuted in Delhi for driving on the wrong side of the road this year, police said on Thursday.
Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Muktesh Chander said motorists driving on the wrong side of the road were fined Rs.1,000.
As many as 312 motorists were arrested for rash and negligent driving.
"A total of 1,03,669 motorists were prosecuted from January 1 till March 30. Out of these, 42,978 motorists were booked for driving dangerously," Chander said.
The police crackdown against driving on the wrong side will continue for a few days.
The police official urged motorists to avoid shortcuts and follow traffic rules for their own safety as well as that of other road users.
