Lucknow, March 3 (IANS) A man was arrested on charge of smothering his minor daughter and an infant son to death here, police said on Thursday .
Accused Avneesh Bajpayi first beat up daughter Divyanshi, aged two, and 10-month-old son Chhotu before smothering them with a pillow at their house in Tilaknagar locality of Bazarkhala on Wednesday.
The children were crying for food when he beat them up and murdered them in a fit of rage, police said.
He later walked into the area police station and surrendered. He was arrested and charged with murder.
Avneesh's wife passed away 10 months ago during delivery of their son. He was bringing up his children single-handedly.
He was living with his brother and the latter's wife, who were not in the house when the crime took place.
