275 Percent Hike in AAP’s Donations

275 Percent Hike in AAP's DonationsNew Delhi, Feb 8 (IANS) The AAP saw a hike of 275 percent in donations in 2014-15 compared to the previous fiscal -- the highest increase among political parties in Delhi, according to an analysis.

"AAP is the only state recognised party of Delhi and it saw an increase of 275 percent in donations from 2013-14 to 2014-15, which is much higher than the national parties' total increase of 151 percent," the Association for Democratic Reforms said in a release.

ADR, an organisation which works for transparency and electoral reforms, based its analysis on the total donations declared to the Election Commission by Delhi's political parties.

It said 24.65 percent of total donations for the Aam Aadmi Party, which has 67 members in the 70-seat Delhi assembly, came from outside India.

The other parties whose donations were analysed by ADR included the Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress, Nationalist Congress Party, Communist Party of India and Communist Party of India-Marxist.
