Aunt Of Drowned Syrian Boy Prepares for Family's Arrival

Vancouver, Dec 16 (IANS) The aunt of a three-year-old Syrian boy Alan Kurdi, whose body was photographed on a Mediterranean beach, said she was busy preparing for the arrival of her relatives as refugees from the Middle East.

"It's very tiring. I'm very stressed out, but I'm going to make it happen," Xinhua quoted Tima Kurdi, who lives in Vancouver in west Canada, as saying on Tuesday.

Her brother, Mohammad Kurdi, his wife and their five children, will arrive in Canada in the next two weeks.

Mohammad Kurdi is the uncle of Alan Kurdi who died alongside his mother and older brother as their boat flipped while crossing the waters between Turkey and Greece earlier this year.

Alan's father, Abdullah, has chosen not to come to Canada, staying instead in Kurdistan.

Tima Kurdi said the difficulty for her was to find rooms for seven new comers to her home, where her husband and their son already live.

Kurdi hopes a GoFundMe page that a friend started for her family will help ease the financial burden to rearrange the life of her relatives in Canada.

"I know there is lots of generous people around, and that will be much appreciated," she said.

Tima Kurdi said she was looking forward to reuniting with her family members, and do what she can to cope with the fact they could not all make the journey.
