Akhil - The Power of JUA - Just Dance

“Just Dance” and nothing else.

Story: Akhil is a tourist guide in the USA and he falls in love with Sayesha Saigal and after a few tricks make her fall for  him too. Then Sayesha is kidnapped by a group. In the process of searching for his love, Akhil ends up in Africa and with the help of the locals he tries to find Sayesha. Who is the gang that kidnapped Sayesha and How did Akhil rescue his love forms rest of the story.

Acting: Akhil is very good in dances and fights and ok in acting for a debutant. The dance in the first song is very good. Need to improve his comedy timing a lot. Sayesha was ok for a first movie and she is a good match for Akhil in dances. Her looks are good in parts and  need to work with a good  hairstylist. Rajendra Prasad was wasted except for sentiment scenes. Brahamanadam, Vennela Kishore, Jayaprakash Reddy  were passable in comedy scenes.  Mahesh Manjrekar had typical villain role and he is adequate.

Techincal: Director V.V.Vinayak has concentrated more showing Akhil and lost the plot of the movie. Every scene in the movie was created to make Akhil look good which killed the narration of the movie. Dialogues by Kona Venkat are routine and sometimes pathetic. The Choreography by Jani is the highlight of the movie. The music for the songs by SS Thaman and Anup Rubens is good. The Background score by Mani Sharma is very good. Production by Nithin is very rich. A lot of new locations are used and gave a very rich feel on the screen.

Analysis: The whole movie was designed to showcase the dancing and fighting skills of Akhil and in the process lost to write any interesting scenes and rehashed scenes for the old commercial movies. This makes the  audience feel they are watching an old movie.

Highlights

  • Akhil's Dances and Fights
  • Rich Locations
  • Run Time

Drawbacks:

  • Weak Story
  • Second half
  • Dialogues

Box office: At the domestic Boxoffice the movie will have a good opening and will fizzle out by the end of the week. At overseas it will be a non-starter.

Verdict: Watch it if you like dances or an Akkineni fan and don't expect anything new.
