Atletico keeper Oblak says he was 'lucky' to save Muller's penalty

Munich, May 4 (IANS) Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak said he was "lucky" to have saved Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller's penalty as he helped the Spanish football club enter the European Champions League final with a victory on away goal rule.

Atletico grabbed a 1-0 win in Madrid, while in Munich they prevailed despite a 1-2 loss on Tuesday. Bayern came hard and got a goal in the 38th minute via Xabi Alonso.

They could have doubled the lead two minutes later but Muller's penalty was blocked by Oblak diving to his right.

"I stopped him, but it's not always like this. Today I was lucky and I saved the penalty. It was only one occasion and what matters is the whole game," the Slovenian was quoted as saying by Efe.

"Their first goal was also because of their luck. The ball was passed, (Jose) Gimenez hit the ball and I went a little aside. I do not mind this goal, because we'll be playing in the final," he added.

The 23-year-old former Benfica player stressed that the entire Atletico squad played "very well".

"I think the whole team played well. The first half was not very good, but the second half, we reacted and we scored a goal," he told Atresmedia.

"We knew it would be very difficult. Besides, we did not have a big advantage with only one home goal. Bayern is a very big team with amazing players and can score at any second of the game. We knew it would be like this."
