TN’s Aavin denies milk supply decline, says Chennai sales rise

Chennai, June 30 (SocialNews.XYZ) State-run dairy cooperative Aavin has strongly denied reports of a decline in milk supply, asserting that milk distribution across Chennai continues without interruption and that sales have, in fact, increased compared to the same period last year.

The clarification comes after the Tamil Nadu Milk Agents and Workers Welfare Association alleged that private dairy companies were attracting milk producers by offering higher procurement prices than Aavin.

According to the association, this had resulted in a decline in Aavin’s milk procurement, leading to a 30 per cent impact on milk supply in several areas. Rejecting the allegations, Aavin said there has been no disruption in procurement or distribution and that consumers across Chennai continue to receive all varieties of Aavin milk packets on a daily basis without any shortage.

In an official statement, Aavin said it currently supplies an average of 14.50 lakh litres of milk every day across Chennai, ensuring uninterrupted availability through its extensive distribution network.

The cooperative maintained that it remains fully committed to meeting consumer demand and has taken all necessary steps to ensure a steady supply of milk.

To counter the claims of falling sales, Aavin also released comparative figures showing an increase in milk distribution during June this year.

According to the data, the cooperative sold an average of 14.46 lakh litres of milk per day in June 2025. During June 2026, the average daily sales rose to 14.82 lakh litres, registering an increase of about 36,000 litres per day over the corresponding period last year.

Aavin said the figures clearly demonstrate that there has been no decline in consumer demand or milk distribution. Instead, the data indicate a steady increase in sales despite concerns raised by the milk agents’ association.

The dairy cooperative further stated that reports suggesting a shortage of Aavin milk or disruptions in supply were “baseless and misleading.” It urged consumers not to be misled by such claims, reiterating that adequate stocks are available and that milk distribution operations are functioning normally.

Emphasising its commitment to consumers, Aavin said uninterrupted milk supply remains its top priority and assured the public that all categories of milk packets would continue to be available across Chennai without any difficulty.

The cooperative reaffirmed that it will continue to monitor procurement and distribution closely to ensure that consumers receive a reliable and uninterrupted supply of milk throughout the city.
