Two Years Later Trailer Drops: A Brisbane Romance About Love, Timing, And Second Chances

Paramount+ has released the official trailer for its upcoming Australian romance series Two Years Later, set to premiere on June 4, 2026. Filmed and set in Brisbane, the series brings a warm, modern love story that explores how timing, distance, and life choices can reshape relationships in unexpected ways.

The show stars Phoebe Tonkin and Brenton Thwaites as Emily and Ryan, two people whose casual workplace chemistry is abruptly interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. What begins as brief flirtation during daily commutes turns into something unresolved — only to resurface two years later when life brings them back together in a surprising way.

At the heart of the story is a bold idea: Ryan proposes a series of eight structured dates to decide whether they are truly meant to be together. Each episode of the series represents one date, giving the narrative a unique, intimate format that allows the relationship to evolve slowly, revealing emotional layers, personal insecurities, and shifting ambitions along the way.

The supporting cast includes Roy Billing and Heather Mitchell, who add depth and experience to the emotional world surrounding the central couple. Their presence helps ground the story in a broader generational perspective on love, commitment, and change.

Created and written by Australian screenwriter Pete Bridges, the series continues his focus on contemporary emotional storytelling. The episodes are directed by Emma Freeman, Lucy Gaffy, and Paige Rattray, each bringing a distinct tone to the evolving relationship arc.

What makes Two Years Later stand out is its simple yet emotionally rich structure — a love story told through moments rather than grand gestures. From awkward reconnections to honest conversations and quiet doubts, the series captures the reality of modern relationships shaped by timing, uncertainty, and second chances.

With its Brisbane backdrop, grounded performances, and unique episodic “date-based” format, Two Years Later aims to offer a refreshing take on romance in the streaming era when it premieres on June 4, 2026.
