Melbourne, July 9 (SocialNews.XYZ) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday pitched India as a long-term investment destination for Australian businesses, saying the country's scale and Australia's expertise make for a 'win-win proposition', while urging faster conclusion of the proposed Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) to deepen bilateral economic ties.

Jointly addressing the Australia-India CEOs Forum and the Economic Roadmap Business here with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, PM Modi said India's strong economic growth, policy reforms, digital transformation and expanding innovation ecosystem creating new opportunities for Australian companies.

Highlighting the complementarities between the two economies, he pointed to investment opportunities across manufacturing, clean energy, critical minerals, mining, infrastructure, urban development, aviation, logistics, advanced technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), fintech, food processing and the digital economy.

"India's scale and Australian expertise make for a win-win proposition," he said.

The Prime Minister also invited Australian investors to take advantage of long-term investment opportunities in India.

Moreover, PM Modi welcomed the growing presence of Australian universities in India, saying deeper collaboration in higher education, research, innovation and skill development would prepare talent in both countries for future global opportunities.

Later, addressing the Economic Roadmap Business event attended by more than 200 CEOs and business leaders from both countries, PM Modi described India and Australia as 'natural partners' whose shared democratic values, common Indo-Pacific vision, strong people-to-people ties and political understanding provide a robust foundation for expanding business cooperation.

Expressing satisfaction over the growth in trade and investment under the Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA) signed in 2022, PM Modi called for the early conclusion of the proposed CECA to take bilateral business ties to the next level.

He urged business leaders to leverage the complementary strengths of both countries and jointly develop global solutions in strategic sectors such as rare earths, lithium, batteries, electronics, electric vehicles (EVs), semiconductors, AI and defence supply chains.

PM Modi also stated that for bilateral business ties to grow to the next level, it was important that Indian states and Australian provinces forge dynamic economic partnerships based on their core competencies.

The two leaders jointly addressed the Australia-India CEOs Forum and the Economic Roadmap Business event in Melbourne. The events brought together leading Indian and Australian CEOs, business leaders, representatives of major Australian superannuation funds and institutional investors, and vice-chancellors of leading Australian universities.

New Delhi, July 9 (SocialNews.XYZ) Parts of Delhi-NCR witnessed fresh spells of rain in the early hours of Thursday, extending the ongoing wet spell across the National Capital and providing much-needed relief from the recent spell of humid weather.

The showers brought down temperatures but also caused minor waterlogging in several areas, affecting normal movement in parts of the city.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an 'Orange Alert' for Delhi, warning of heavy rainfall in the city through most of the day and urging residents to remain cautious amid the prevailing weather conditions.

The continuous rainfall led to waterlogging at several locations, including the New Delhi Railway Station, Munirka and other parts of the city.

While the showers offered respite from the oppressive humidity, they also caused localised disruptions due to the accumulation of rainwater on roads.

According to the IMD, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity is expected to continue over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and western Uttar Pradesh until July 10.

The weather department has also forecast a fresh spell of rain across northeastern Uttar Pradesh until July 13, while eastern Rajasthan is likely to experience similar rainfall activity on July 9.

On Wednesday, an active monsoon spell swept across large parts of North India, bringing widespread showers that provided welcome relief from the intense heat and humid conditions experienced over the past several days.

According to data from the IMD, the total rainfall recorded between 8:30 a.m. on July 8 and 5:30 a.m. on July 9 exhibited considerable variations throughout Delhi-NCR.

Among the various stations in Delhi, Mehrauli experienced the highest rainfall at 83 mm, while Lodi Road received 79 mm, Pusa had 73 mm, Chhatarpur recorded 68 mm, and Mayur Vihar measured 66 mm.

Janakpuri was noted for receiving 62 mm, Narayana 57 mm, Pragati Maidan 46 mm, Najafgarh 42 mm, Mungeshpur 40 mm, Jharoda Kalan 33 mm, and Jafarpur had the least rainfall at 6 mm.

Washington, July 9 (SocialNews.XYZ) The European Union has rejected suggestions that shifting US trade policies under President Donald Trump drove the conclusion of its landmark free trade agreement with India, saying the pact was the result of years of political commitment and a shared strategic vision rather than short-term geopolitical developments.

The remarks came after Christophe Kiener, the European Union's chief negotiator for the agreement, on Wednesday (local time) pushed back against a suggestion during a discussion hosted by the Peterson Institute for International Economics that recent trade turbulence may have accelerated the negotiations.

"I would dispute that," Kiener said. "We did not conclude this agreement because of a tweet. We concluded this agreement because there is a genuine and strategic and economic interest for the EU and India to come closer."

Kiener acknowledged that the international trading environment had become increasingly uncertain in recent years but said the foundations of the agreement were laid well before the current wave of trade tensions.

He said the European Union and India had built a broader partnership encompassing trade, security, defence, mobility and technology, describing the free trade agreement as "the jewel on the crown" of that relationship. The agreement, he added, is "commercially very, very meaningful" and forms part of a long-term effort to strengthen economic ties between two major democracies.

He recalled that the original negotiations stalled because "the EU's menu for FTA did not quite match that of India," leading both sides to suspend talks in 2013. When negotiations restarted in 2022, they began afresh rather than relying on earlier draft texts.

According to Kiener, several developments reinforced the need for closer cooperation, including the failure to advance global trade liberalisation through the World Trade Organization, lessons from the Covid-19 pandemic about supply-chain resilience and the instability created by Russia's war against Ukraine.

He said those developments encouraged both sides to strengthen economic ties based on predictable rules and diversified supply chains.

Darpan Jain, India's chief negotiator, also dismissed suggestions that the agreement was primarily a response to recent US trade policy shifts. He noted that when the European Commission leadership visited New Delhi in January 2025, and both sides committed to concluding negotiations by the end of the year, "the US trade policy changes had not started."

"In fact, the new US administration had just taken over at that time," Jain said, adding that the commitment to conclude the agreement stemmed from the growing India-EU relationship and India's broader strategy to expand market access through trade agreements.

Jain said India had concluded nine free trade agreements over the past five years and that there was "a strong political commitment" to deepen trade ties, reduce disadvantages faced by Indian exporters and promote greater outward economic engagement.

The two negotiators also described the agreement as carrying significance beyond commerce. Opening the discussion, moderator Cecilia Malmstrom said the pact sends "a powerful geopolitical message" by demonstrating that two of the world's largest economies remain committed to transparent and rules-based trade at a time when tariffs and protectionist measures have become increasingly common.

The agreement still requires legal review and ratification before entering into force. EU officials have said they hope it can be signed later this year and implemented next year, while Indian officials have indicated that New Delhi's approval process is comparatively straightforward, requiring Cabinet approval followed by presidential ratification.

Washington, July 9 (SocialNews.XYZ) US President Donald Trump said that Iran wants to negotiate after fresh US retaliatory strikes, but questioned whether Tehran could be trusted to honour any agreement, saying Washington would continue responding forcefully while keeping its focus on preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

"We hit back much harder," Trump said on Wednesday (local time).

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One while returning to Washington after the NATO summit in Turkey, Trump said the United States had responded after attacks on commercial vessels.

"They just we just hit it very hard, and I say we hit them 20 to 1; every time they hit us, we're going to hit them 20. And we did it last night; we did a little something today, but it was really retribution for last night they hit actually three boats, not two, and when they hit we hit back much harder," Trump said.

Asked whether the exchange marked a return to full-scale military conflict, Trump said, "I don't know, I don't know," but added that Washington had several options.

"We have many ways we can win, but we've already won militarily; they have very little left, and they want to make a deal so badly they called a little while ago they want to make a deal so badly I just don't know if they're worthy of making a deal," he said.

"I don't know that they're going to honour the deal; that's the problem," Trump said.

Asked why Iran would attack commercial vessels if it wanted a deal, Trump said, "Because it's not crazy, to be honest with you, it's so crazy they're a little bit out of control, but they want to make a deal badly."

Trump said the confrontation was centred on denying Iran nuclear weapons.

"It was a de-nuking of Iran, denuclearisation of Iran, so, this is all about taking nuclear weapons, not allowing Iran to have nuclear weapons. And everybody should like that even you," he said.

Trump also dismissed suggestions that a last-minute aircraft change before leaving Turkey was caused by a specific security concern. He said the switch was made so personnel at the air base could view the plane.

Asked whether there had been any credible Iranian threat against Air Force One, Trump said, "All the time I'm number one on their list."

Trump described the NATO summit as successful and said the alliance had shown unity after earlier strains over defence spending.

"It was a very, very good meeting and people understand that the United States is and we've been treated very unfairly," he said.

"The meeting today settled a lot of things," Trump added.

He said future US troop decisions in Europe would depend partly on developments involving Greenland and Iran. He also said allies who had earlier declined to help were now eager to assist on Iran.

"They all want to go, and they want to help on Iran so badly, but I don't really need help," Trump said.

Syria, Hezbollah discussed

Trump also praised Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, saying he had "done a great job" and had "unified Syria."

Asked whether al-Sharaa had made commitments on Hezbollah in Lebanon, Trump replied, "He did," but declined to provide details. He also said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy "was great" during their meeting.

The latest comments came amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran after military exchanges and attacks on commercial shipping. The Trump administration has said its objective is to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, while using military, diplomatic and economic pressure to force Tehran to change course.

Melbourne, July 9 (SocialNews.XYZ) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday highlighted the growing economic partnership between India and Australia, describing the two countries as "natural and trusted partners" amid global uncertainty, while urging businesses from both nations to deepen collaboration across sectors ranging from clean energy and infrastructure to artificial intelligence and education.

Greeting business leaders from both countries at the Economic Roadmap Business Reception during the India-Australia CEO Forum, PM Modi said their presence reflected the "shared confidence and aspirations" of India and Australia.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said, "Today, the world is going through a period of uncertainty, supply chain disruptions, and an energy crisis. At such a time, it is both natural and necessary for India and Australia to move forward as natural and trusted partners. Over the past few years, we have built a strong framework for future cooperation by combining the capabilities of both countries."

PM Modi said the India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA), concluded in record time in 2022, has significantly strengthened bilateral economic ties and created fresh opportunities for businesses in both countries.

"Since its implementation, exports from India to Australia have doubled, and businesses in both countries have benefited from new market access; however, we have not stopped there -- we are now moving towards a Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement," he said.

He added, "Through these efforts, the governments of both nations have prepared a new runway, and the aircraft of investment and innovation is now ready to take off. You all have to take this to new heights."

Highlighting opportunities in the clean energy sector, PM Modi said India is rapidly building a robust manufacturing ecosystem for hydroelectric projects, green hydrogen, solar modules and wind energy equipment.

Addressing representatives of clean energy companies present at the forum, he said, "We are building a manufacturing ecosystem in India for hydro projects, green hydrogen, solar modules, and windmills."

The Prime Minister noted that India has set ambitious targets of achieving 500 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2030 and reaching Net Zero emissions by 2070. He said Australia's technological expertise, financial resources and natural reserves could play a crucial role in accelerating India's energy transition.

Referring to recent policy reforms, PM Modi said, "A few months ago, India opened up the nuclear sector to private companies. We have set a target of 100 gigawatts of nuclear energy by 2047. Australia's vast uranium reserves are directly linked to India's nuclear journey,.

The Prime Minister also invited Australian investors to participate in India's rapidly expanding infrastructure sector, saying there were vast opportunities in ports, airports, highways, railways and urban development projects.

"There are immense possibilities for Australian long-term investors in India's port, airport, road, railway, and urban infrastructure sectors. Today, national highways in India are expanding at a pace of approximately 34 kilometres per day. More than 8 kilometres of railway tracks are being laid daily. This represents a convergence of scale, speed, and stability," he said.

Emphasising industrial cooperation, PM Modi said India and Australia have already emerged as "strong partners" in the steel sector and could now work together in areas such as low-carbon aluminium, green iron and clean manufacturing technologies.

The Prime Minister also underlined the vast scope for collaboration in emerging technologies, noting that the Indian government has committed more than 10 billion dollars towards initiatives under the AI Mission, Quantum Mission and Semiconductor Programme.

"The Indian government has provided support exceeding $10 billion under the AI Mission, Quantum Mission, and Semiconductor Program. We can collaborate to develop global solutions in the fields of data centres, AI, quantum technology, semiconductors, and digital public infrastructure," he said.

Referring to Australia's large pension funds, PM Modi said India offered a stable and reliable investment destination while assuring investors that their capital would be treated with utmost responsibility.

"Australian pension funds currently manage assets worth over four trillion dollars. In India, pension savings are regarded as a sacred trust; we view them not merely as capital, but as the trust of millions of families. India offers your funds opportunities for safe, stable, and sustainable growth. Our endeavour will be to ensure that both your trust and your capital grow," he said.

PM Modi further highlighted the growing cooperation in education and skill development, pointing out that Deakin University and the University of Wollongong have already established campuses in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City).

"This reflects their confidence in India. Our shared goal should be to transform student mobility into talent partnerships," he said.

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister stressed that the India-Australia partnership should expand beyond engagements between national capitals and involve states, cities, universities and industries across both countries.

"Our partnership should not be limited to just our capitals or a few select cities; we must engage stakeholders across our states, cities -- both large and small -- universities, and industries," he said.

"I suggest that, moving forward, we identify specific state-to-state and sector-to-sector partnerships," the Prime Minister added.

Washington, July 9 (SocialNews.XYZ) Vice President J.D. Vance has accused Iran of violating a recent understanding with the United States by resuming attacks on commercial shipping, warning that any further attempts to disrupt maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz would trigger a stronger US military response.

Speaking in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Wednesday (local time), Vance said the Trump administration had reached an agreement with Tehran after recent hostilities, but alleged that Iran had failed to uphold its side of the arrangement.

"We made a deal with the Iranians," Vance said, adding that the agreement came after the United States had negotiated "from maximum leverage and maximum strength."

He credited President Donald Trump and the US military with weakening Iran's capabilities before diplomacy resumed.

"Thanks to the incredible efforts of our amazing US military, …the President of the United States, just amazing people. But most of all, thanks to the troops, we came into the situation with maximum leverage and maximum strength. Their nuclear programme was destroyed, their conventional military was destroyed, and you've got some people within the Iranian system who are saying, 'You know what? We want to change our relationship with the United States. We want to turn over a new leaf,'" Vance said.

According to Vance, the understanding between Washington and Tehran centred on freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important oil shipping lanes.

"The basic deal that we cut was we'll lift our blockade if you stop shooting at ships. But if you shoot at ships, we are going to punch back, and we're going to punch back harder than ever before," he said.

Vance claimed Iran initially complied with the arrangement.

"They said they would stop shooting at ships, and what happened 24 hours ago? They started shooting at ships again. They were good, they were well behaved for about a week, but then they started shooting at ships," he said.

He warned that Washington would continue to respond militarily if attacks persisted.

"So the deal is very simple. If they shoot at ships, we're going to knock the hell out of them, and it's that simple. That's the basic way it's going to work," Vance said, adding that President Trump "maintains a lot of options" but declining to discuss possible military action.

Vance said ensuring the Strait of Hormuz remains open was a strategic priority because of its importance to global energy supplies.

"The President has said to them very simply, the Strait of Hormuz is going to be open. That means oil and gas is going to flow to the American people. That's why we see gas prices starting to come down. That's why we see the oil prices so low, is because the President said that crucial artery through which we ship a lot of the world's energy, that artery has got to remain open," he said.

"If they try to close it down, there's going to be a response from the American military. It's that simple. They can either follow it, or they can have exactly what happened to them last night. It's just going to keep on happening until they open up that lane and stop shooting at ships," Vance added.

New Delhi, July 9 (SocialNews.XYZ) Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair a conference of Superintendents of Police (SPs) from border districts in New Delhi on Thursday, where key issues including infiltration, illegal immigration, demographic changes, border security, drone threats and narcotics trafficking are expected to be discussed.

The meeting assumes significance amid the Centre's intensified campaign against illegal immigration, which it has described as part of an organised attempt to alter the demographic composition of districts located along the international border with Bangladesh.

Superintendents of Police from border states and Union Territories, including Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and the northeastern states, are expected to participate in the conference.

They are likely to present ground-level assessments, highlight emerging security concerns and deliberate on measures to address these challenges effectively.

The conference will also take place against the backdrop of the Centre's decision to constitute a high-level committee a few months ago to examine the extent of demographic changes taking place in different parts of the country and identify the factors responsible for them.

The committee has been tasked with studying issues such as illegal immigration, unusual settlement patterns, organised migration and structural population shifts across religious and social communities.

Over the past several months, Amit Shah has personally visited multiple border regions and held meetings with district magistrates and Superintendents of Police to review the situation on the ground.

During these interactions, he has directed district administrations to closely monitor patterns of illegal immigration and assess their impact on demographic changes in border areas.

The Home Minister has also instructed officials to identify and demolish illegal structures in border districts, as such locations are believed to have been used as centres of radicalisation or temporary shelters for illegal immigrants before they are allegedly provided forged identity documents through organised networks of touts.

Apart from security concerns related to illegal immigration, the conference is also expected to deliberate on the development and welfare of people living in border districts, recognising their strategic importance as the first line of defence against hostile activities and cross-border incursions.

The participants are also likely to review the growing threat posed by drones, particularly those allegedly used to transport arms and narcotics across the border from Pakistan.

In addition, the progress of fencing work along the India-Bangladesh border, especially in vulnerable stretches of West Bengal, is also expected to figure prominently on the agenda during the high-level meeting.

"The Australian-India Orchestra's soulful presentation of 'Maa Tujhe Salaam' was wonderful. It beautifully demonstrated how music strengthens the bonds between our people. My compliments to every member of the orchestra for this memorable performance. It also shows the global popularity of Vande Mataram, particularly at a time when we are marking its 150th anniversary," PM Modi highlighted in another post.

PM Modi also witnessed a "truly exceptional" musical performance featuring Australia’s ancient Didgeridoo and India’s Tabla.

"The harmony between these two timeless instruments beautifully reflected the deep cultural connect between our two nations. Compliments to Mr. Ron Murray and Dr. Sam Evans for their dedication to preserving and celebrating musical traditions," he wrote on X.

"Landed in Melbourne, Australia. This visit will add vigour to the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. I look forward to the talks with Prime Minister Albanese. I will also have the opportunity to interact with the Indian diaspora, which is an important pillar of our partnership," PM Modi posted on X after landing in Melbourne.

The CEO Forum meets annually and provides advice to heads of government on ways to enhance economic prosperity for both India and Australia. Throughout the year, the CEO Forum convenes and takes part in a wide range of events focused on strengthening relations between the two nations.

The CEO Forum has been active since 2012 and was relaunched in 2023 by PM Modi and Albanese.

Earlier on Wednesday, PM Modi received a rousing welcome from the Indian community in Melbourne as he began his visit to Australia.

The Prime Minister, who arrived from Indonesia, lauded the warmth of the welcome from the Indian community, terming it as "truly unforgettable".

Braving cold weather, members of the Indian community had turned out in large numbers to welcome PM Modi at the hotel late Wednesday evening, local time.

PM Modi met members of the Indian diaspora amid chants of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and 'Modi, Modi'. Several cultural performances were also lined up by local artists to welcome PM Modi in Australia.

"The weather in Melbourne may be cold but the warmth of the welcome from the Indian community was truly unforgettable. Their affection and unwavering bond with India continue to be a source of immense joy and pride," PM Modi posted on X while thanking the Indian community for their warm gesture.

Prime Minister Modi said that he was delighted to witness an outstanding Kathak performance during the welcome by the Indian community in Melbourne.

"Glad to see Indian dances becoming popular across Australia," he added.

Earlier, after arriving in the Australian city, PM Modi stated that he is looking forward to the talks with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Thursday and his visit will add vigour to the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

"Landed in Melbourne, Australia. This visit will add vigour to the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. I look forward to the talks with Prime Minister Albanese. I will also have the opportunity to interact with the Indian diaspora which is an important pillar of our partnership," PM Modi posted on X after landing in Melbourne.

PM Modi will co-chair the 3rd Annual Summit with PM Anthony Albanese and also engage with various stakeholders to further deepen the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership across all sectors of mutual interest.

Besides holding bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Albanese, he will also call on Australia's Governor-General, Sam Mostyn.

He is also scheduled to address a large gathering of the Indian diaspora in Melbourne.

Ahead of the visit, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described India as a key economic partner, underscoring the growing strategic significance of bilateral ties.

In a statement issued earlier this week, the Australian Prime Minister's Office said that, as the world's fourth-largest and fastest-growing economy, India is a critical economic partner for Australia.

Expressing his enthusiasm ahead of the visit, Prime Minister Albanese said, "I am honoured to welcome my friend Prime Minister Modi to Australia for our Annual Leaders' Summit."

"The Australia-India relationship has never been more consequential, and our partnership fosters peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific. I look forward to strengthening Australia and India's deep partnership," the statement added.

Washington/Tehran, July 9 (SocialNews.XYZ) US forces conducted strikes against Iran for a second straight day to "degrade" Iran's ability "to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz," the United States Central Command has announced.

The United States is "holding Iran accountable for recent unjustified aggression against commercial shipping and civilian crews freely navigating a vital international waterway," the command said in a post on X on Wednesday (Washington time).

More than 20 US Navy warships were patrolling waters across the Middle East on Wednesday, the command said in an earlier post.

The move came after US President Donald Trump warned at the NATO summit in Ankara earlier the same day that the US military would probably hit Iran again, reports Xinhua news agency.

"I'll give a little warning: We're going to hit them hard tonight," Trump said, adding that he did not expect a full-fledged conflict with Iran.

Following Trump's remarks at the summit, Iran's Press TV, citing an informed source, reported that Iran would close the Strait of Hormuz and strike twice as many targets given any fresh US attack.

The developments came as the United States and Iran traded fresh attacks from Tuesday night into Wednesday, marking a new round of escalation.

Meanwhile, several blasts were heard Wednesday night in Iran's southern Hormozgan province as the US Central Command said its forces conducted strikes against Iran for a second straight day.

The explosions were heard in Bandar Abbas, Qeshm, Sirik counties and the Iranian Island of Abu Musa, Iranian media said.

State-run IRIB news agency reported three explosions were also heard in the southeastern Chabahar County, putting at eight the total number of blasts in Bandar Abbas, where the air defence has become activated.

Washington, July 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) India's chief negotiator for the landmark free trade agreement with the European Union on Wednesday described the pact as the country's "most ambitious agreement" to date, saying it would significantly expand market access, strengthen rules-based trade and open new opportunities for labour-intensive industries, services and technology cooperation.

Speaking at an event hosted by the Peterson Institute for International Economics, Darpan Jain, Chief Negotiator from India's Department of Commerce, said the agreement reflected India's broadest liberalisation commitments yet across goods, services and trade rules, while carefully protecting sensitive sectors such as agriculture.

"It is one of the most ambitious agreements," Jain said. "India has liberalised almost the entire basket of goods... Similarly in services, the entire landscape of services has been committed."

He added that India had also undertaken its most extensive commitments on areas including sustainable development, digital trade and non-tariff measures.

The comprehensive agreement, concluded after negotiations resumed in 2022, he said, covers goods, services, investment, digital trade, supply chain diversification and intellectual property.

It connects economies representing nearly two billion people and around a quarter of global output, making it one of the world's largest bilateral trade agreements.

Jain said the agreement would create major opportunities for Indian exporters, particularly in labour-intensive sectors where the country has long faced tariff disadvantages in the European market.

He identified textiles and apparel as one of the biggest beneficiaries. Although the European Union imports around 170 billion dollars worth of textiles and apparel from outside the bloc, India's share is only about 5.4 per cent. Bangladesh, benefiting from preferential access, accounts for around 17 per cent.

Similarly, India's leather and footwear exports have considerable room for growth. While Vietnam accounts for about 23 per cent of the EU's imports in the sector, India's share is only around six per cent. Jain noted that tariffs of up to 17 per cent had limited India's competitiveness and said the agreement would help narrow that gap.

Beyond merchandise trade, Jain said services represented another major growth area. He pointed to India's leadership in digitally delivered services and said the agreement would facilitate greater collaboration in research and development, global capability centres and technology-driven industries.

"The rules would provide the foundation of predictability," he said, adding that the agreement establishes mechanisms to resolve disputes involving technical regulations, sanitary and phytosanitary standards, licensing and other non-tariff barriers that often disrupt international commerce.

Christophe Kiener, the European Union's chief negotiator, called the agreement "commercially very, very meaningful" and estimated that EU exporters would save about four billion euros in tariffs. He said the agreement also reflected a broader strategic partnership that now encompasses trade, security, defence, technology and mobility.

For Europe, he said, the agreement goes beyond tariff reductions by strengthening legal certainty through comprehensive chapters on digital trade, technical standards and dispute settlement.

Both negotiators stressed that the agreement was driven by long-term strategic interests rather than short-term geopolitical developments. Responding to a suggestion that recent shifts in US trade policy had accelerated the deal, Kiener said the agreement had been concluded because "there is a genuine and strategic and economic interest for the EU and India to come closer."

The agreement also addresses sensitive issues, including the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). Jain said India and the EU had agreed on safeguards to ensure the mechanism would be applied non-discriminatorily, while establishing frameworks to recognise India's carbon pricing measures and to cooperate on verification systems. The broader partnership also includes collaboration on green hydrogen, renewable energy, clean technologies and financial support for India's low-carbon transition.

On implementation, Kiener said the legal review of the agreement is expected to conclude this month before it moves through the European Union's approval process. He expressed hope that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would participate in the formal signing ceremony later this year and said the agreement could enter into force during the second quarter of next year.

Jain noted that India's ratification process is comparatively simpler, requiring approval by the Cabinet and the President rather than Parliament.

Hyderabad, July 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Wednesday urged the Centre to allot all the coal blocks in Godavari basin in the state to public sector mining company Singareni.

He demanded that the BJP-led Central government prove its commitments to Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) by allocating all coal blocks in the Godavari Valley directly to Singareni instead of auctioning them.

Addressing a press conference, the Deputy Chief Minister requested the Central government to restore the status of Central Public Sector Undertaking on SCCL, which was scrapped after the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government came to power.

"This is a government to government transaction as Singareni is a joint firm with 51:49 shareholding by the state and Central governments respectively," he said requesting the Centre not to give step motherly treatment to the public sector coal major.

While thanking the Centre for giving mining licence of Tadicherla-II block to SCCL, the Deputy Chief Minister clarified that this was not a fresh allocation to SCCL, as claimed by Union Coal Minister G. Kishan Reddy, but a mining lease approval for a block that had already been allotted to the company in 2013.

He took objection to Kishan Reddy's claims that Tadicherla-II block was allotted to SCCL bypassing the auction route as a long term measure to strengthen the company and safeguard employment.

Vikramarka said the block was assigned to SCCL way back in 2013 by the then United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.

He alleged that the NDA government had delayed granting the mining lease for years despite repeated representations.

He claimed that repeated requests by the Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and himself finally bore fruit as the Centre had given the mining lease to SCCL.

The Deputy Chief Minister alleged that the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS)-led state government prevented SCCL from participating in coal block auctions which resulted in the company losing out Koyagudem and Sattupalli blocks.

On huge dues pending to SCCL, Vikramarka said the failure of the previous BRS government to clear the pending bills during its close to 10-year tenure resulted in the pendency and the Congress government was trying its best to clear the dues and revive the company.

Meanwhile, Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna said that his continuous struggle in Parliament and with the Central government has resulted in the allocation of Tadicherla Coal Block-2 to SCCL.

The block, with estimated reserves of around 182 million tonnes, is expected to significantly boost coal production and generate substantial employment in the region.

Vamsi Krishna recalled that during the election campaign, he and Minister G. Vivek Venkataswamy had promised to protect Singareni's interests.

"I have fulfilled that promise," he said.

He noted that he had written to Coal Minister Kishan Reddy on February 3, 2026, requesting the allocation and had followed it up with multiple meetings.

He also raised the issue in Parliament on several occasions.

"This is not merely a coal block allocation... it is a victory for the struggle of Singareni workers and an acknowledgment of the aspirations of the people of Telangana," the MP said.

He thanked Kishan Reddy for the positive decision and added that the allocation will strengthen Singareni, create thousands of direct and indirect jobs for the youth, and contribute to Telangana's economic growth.

Ankara, July 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) President Donald Trump on Wednesday declared that the US military campaign against Iran had crippled Tehran's military and nuclear capabilities, warned of more strikes if Iran attacked again, and said he had little faith in further negotiations even as his envoys remained free to continue talks.

"The Iran war has been a tremendous military success," Trump said at a news conference after the NATO summit in Ankara. "I was there for one reason — that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. I call it, we denuclearised Iran. And that's happened. They will never have a nuclear weapon."

Trump said Iran's military had been badly degraded.

"They have no military left," he said. "Their air force is gone. Their ships are gone. One hundred and fifty-nine ships are gone. They're at the bottom of the sea. Their radars are gone. Everything's gone."

He also claimed Iran's leadership and missile capability had been severely hit.

"Their leaders are gone," Trump said. "They had another set of leaders — they're gone. Now they have another set of leaders. They may be gone. Who knows?"

Earlier, speaking alongside NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Trump said Iran had resumed attacks after seeking a pause for funeral proceedings.

"We said, 'Go and do your funeral stuff.' And instead of that, they start shooting rockets at ships yesterday," Trump said. "And so we hit them very hard last night, very hard. I would say 20-to-1, 20 times tougher. And I told them, 'Every time you hit, we hit.'"

During a later meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump said Iran had asked for what he called a "time out."

"They said to us, please don't kill us during the funeral. I said I won't. We didn't. In fact, we made it safe for them, actually," he said. "And they started shooting missiles."

Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said US forces targeted Iranian assets used to threaten shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

"Last night, as you said, a lot of small craft that they were trying to harass shipping with, so that was a big part of what we targeted," Hegseth said.

He said the targets included "underground facilities where they were storing drones or missiles, coastal defence sites, radar sites, surveillance sites, anything used to harass shipping in the Strait of Hormuz."

"Tonight, if we need to, on your order, Mr. President, we will hit even more," Hegseth added.

Trump suggested Washington could again impose a maritime blockade.

"We put down the blockade, we may put it back, the blockade, and it'll only be a blockade for Iran," he said.

Asked whether the conflict was heading towards a full-scale resumption, Trump said he did not expect a prolonged war.

"I don't think it's going to start again," he said. "I think it's going to go very quickly."

"When they hit, we hit ten times harder," Trump said. "We're not looking for long term."

Trump said the United States was monitoring Iran's nuclear sites from space.

"We have cameras, as an example, on the site," he said. "That's called Space Force."

"We're watching that, and if anybody goes there, they get blown up. So nobody's going to touch that."

Trump also cast doubt on diplomacy, saying the memorandum of understanding and ceasefire framework appeared finished in his view.

"To me, I think it's over. I don't want to deal with them anymore," he said. "As far as I'm concerned, it's over."

He accused Iranian officials of negotiating in bad faith.

"They're liars. We make a deal... Everyone's agreed. No nuclear weapon. We make a deal. They go outside, talk to the press, they say, 'We never even talked about it.'"

Still, Trump stopped short of formally shutting down talks.

"Steve is great, and Jared is great," he said, referring to Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. "They're the right guys. And we'll see what happens."

Rutte backed the US action, saying Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities had to be degraded.

"I think what you did last night was necessary," Rutte said. "It was a very strong response."

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most important energy corridors, carrying a large share of global oil shipments. Any escalation there can quickly affect energy prices, shipping insurance and regional security calculations across the Gulf.

Ankara, July 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) US President Donald Trump on Wednesday claimed that he remains Iran's primary assassination target but insisted the threat would not alter his decisions, saying protecting the United States and preventing Tehran from acquiring a nuclear weapon outweighed the personal risks of holding office.

Speaking at a press conference after the NATO summit in Ankara, Trump acknowledged repeated threats against him while dismissing speculation that security concerns had influenced his travel plans.

"I'm number one on the kill list for Iran," Trump said.

"I'm number one, so I don't know... but I don't really care because I'm doing my job."

The President made the remarks after being asked whether he was returning to Washington on a different aircraft because of possible Iranian threats.

Trump rejected the suggestion, saying the new presidential aircraft was instead flying to US military bases in Europe so that service personnel could see it.

"It's flying to Europe to one of the big bases... so the soldiers can see it because it's truly magnificent," he said.

He nevertheless acknowledged the dangers associated with the presidency.

"The life of a President is very dangerous."

"You should have told me that years ago. Maybe I wouldn't have run."

"It's a very dangerous profession."

Earlier in the day, during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Trump also referred to alleged Iranian threats against him.

"They wanna take out the US leader, me."

"I'm on every list."

"I saw a thing this morning. I'm on every single one of their lists."

"So far, I guess I've been a little bit lucky."

At the afternoon press conference, Trump returned to the subject while defending his administration's Iran policy.

"I'm doing what's right for the country."

"I'm doing what's right for the world."

"They have to be stopped."

He linked the alleged threats directly to his decision to order military action against Iran's nuclear and military infrastructure.

"They're scum."

"That's the way they act and that's the way they've done it for 47 years."

Asked whether concerns about possible Iranian retaliation had influenced his movements, Trump said they had not.

"I mention it only because it's on the list."

"It came out... there was another list came out yesterday."

"I like being number one on TikTok better, but I'm number one on the list for... killing."

Throughout the summit, Trump repeatedly argued that preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon justified the risks associated with confronting Tehran.

"They will never have a nuclear weapon," he said, describing that objective as the central purpose of recent US military operations.

Jammu, July 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) A landslide hit the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine track on Wednesday evening, but the yatra continued unaffected.

Officials said a landslide triggered by rain hit the Mata Vaishno Devi track atop the Trikuta Hills in Katra town of Reasi district on Wednesday evening.

The landslide forced temporary suspension of the battery car service, but the yatra to the shrine remained unaffected, with hundreds of pilgrims continuing their to-and-fro trek despite the landslide.

The officials said the landslide occurred near Himkoti on the new track leading to the shrine following heavy rainfall.

The Shrine Board immediately rushed men and machines to clear the debris from the route, they said.

The officials said the battery car service was temporarily suspended, while the yatra continued through the old route.

Mata Vaishno Devi, also known as Vaishnavi, Trikuta, and Sherawali, is a Hindu deity considered to embody the nature of Shakti and, at the Vaishno Devi Temple, is self-manifest as three Pindis, described as the goddesses Mahakali, Mahalakshmi, and Mahasaraswati.

The deity is worshipped as an ascetic, vegetarian, and virgin goddess who is associated with Vishnu. Believed to be the Mahadevi, she is revered as a divine "Mother" who protects and grants boons to her devotees. She is also described in certain regional traditions as the eldest of the Seven Sisters, the goddesses of North India.

The Vaishno Devi Temple is a highly revered Hindu shrine nestled in the Trikuta Mountains in Jammu and Kashmir, at an altitude of 5,200 feet.

Dedicated to a manifestation of the Goddess Durga, the shrine requires a 13-kilometre trek (or helicopter ride) starting from the base camp town of Katra.

Bhubaneswar, July 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan is scheduled to arrive in Bhubaneswar on a one-day visit to Odisha on Thursday, government officials said on Wednesday.

The state government said in a statement that during a programme organised by the Union Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying at the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) in Bhubaneswar, the Vice-President will formally launch the Odisha Deep Sea Fishing Mission, a flagship initiative of the Odisha government.

Vice-President Radhakrishnan will also distribute authorisation certificates to fishermen for the sustainable utilisation of deep-sea fishery resources.

The fishing activities are generally restricted to within 12 nautical miles (nearly 23 km) from the coastline.

"With the implementation of the Odisha Deep Sea Fishing Mission, fishermen from Odisha will be able to fish within 200 nautical miles (nearly 370 km). In addition, fishermen holding authorisation certificates will be permitted to fish in international waters beyond the 200-nautical-mile limit. This initiative is expected to strengthen the livelihoods of fishermen while opening new avenues for the growth of the blue economy," the state government said.

The Central government is prioritising on strengthening Fish Farmer Producer Organisations (FFPOs) and fisheries cooperative societies.

Extensive steps are also being taken to promote digitisation in the fisheries sector.

During the programme, the Vice-President will distribute authorisation certificates to fishermen, the National Cooperative Exports Limited (NCEL), fishing vessel owners and fisheries cooperative societies.

"These certificates will enable eligible Indian fishing vessels to undertake fishing operations in the sea. The initiative is expected to strengthen fisheries producer organisations and cooperative societies. Deep-sea fishing will ensure the creation of greater income opportunities for fishermen. As the entire authorisation process is being carried out online, it will ensure greater transparency, time-bound service delivery and improved administrative efficiency," the state government added.

It is also said that the Odisha Deep Sea Fishing Mission (2026–2036) is a flagship initiative of the Odisha government, which recently got the State Cabinet's approval.

It aims to position Odisha as a leading state in deep-sea and international fishing operations while enhancing the state's marine seafood exports.

The mission will provide support for advanced fishing equipment, operational management and market linkages.

It is expected to increase fish production, generate employment, enhance the incomes of fishermen and boost marine product exports.

According to the state government, the initiative is expected to bring about a significant transformation in Odisha's marine fisheries sector.

Nearly five lakh fishermen living along the state's 575-km-long coastline depend on the Bay of Bengal for their livelihoods.

During the 2024–25 financial year, Odisha recorded marine fish production of around 2.4 lakh metric tonnes.

Apart from Vice-President Radhakrishnan, the programme will be attended by Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and other dignitaries.

Hyderabad, July 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) has cracked a Rs 4.70 crore WhatsApp Boss fraud and arrested two mule account holders and agents.

The TGCSB said on Wednesday that it took up the investigation following a complaint that an unknown fraudster impersonated the company's Managing Director by creating a WhatsApp profile using the Managing Director's name and photograph and committed the fraud.

According to TGCSB Director Shikha Goel, the case was registered under Sections 318(4) and 319(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 66D of the Information Technology (IT) Act.

Believing the messages sent by the fraudster to be genuine, the complainant transferred a total amount of Rs 4.70 crore to bank accounts specified by the fraudster.

During the course of the investigation, technical analysis and bank account verification led to the identification and arrest of Dosapati Krishna Sai, a resident of Sathupally, Khammam district, and Mandavally Shiva Nagaraju, a resident of Kothapet, Hyderabad, originally from Sathupally, Khammam district. They are accused numbers five and six, respectively.

Investigation revealed that the accused knowingly procured and supplied current bank accounts to cyber fraudsters in exchange for commission. They facilitated the operation of these mule accounts and received approximately Rs 4 lakh as commission, which they shared among themselves.

Further investigation revealed that Rs 1.80 crore of the defrauded amount was credited to the bank account of the accused, Nagaraju, who had arranged and provided it to the cyber fraudsters through co-accused Krishna Sai. Analysis of the account also revealed suspicious credit transactions totaling more than Rs 2.49 crore. The account was found to be linked to multiple cybercrime complaints registered in Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.

The accused were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody. Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the remaining absconding accused and to trace and recover the remaining proceeds of crime, the TGCSB director said.

She advised people not to trust a WhatsApp profile merely because it displays the name or photograph of a known person, as these can be easily copied and misused by fraudsters. She cautioned people to be wary if a contact suddenly requests urgent or confidential fund transfers, especially to a new bank account, and advised them to never rely solely on WhatsApp messages for financial transactions.

Jaipur, July 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, said on Wednesday that nearly 80 per cent of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway has been completed at a cost of Rs 1.10 lakh crore, and the remaining work is progressing rapidly.

He added that within the next two years, commuters will be able to travel from Delhi to Nariman Point and the Jawaharlal Nehru Port in Mumbai in just 12 hours.

Addressing a public gathering near the Dara Tunnel in Kota after inspecting a 90-km stretch of the expressway from the Laban Interchange in Bundi to Kota, Gadkari said, "We deliver what we promise. That is our hallmark."

Union Minister Gadkari was accompanied by the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.

Highlighting the broader impact of the expressway, Gadkari said it would serve as a catalyst for economic growth rather than merely a transportation corridor.

According to Union Minister Gadkari, the highway will attract industries, logistics parks, educational institutions, medical colleges and agro-based enterprises, creating employment opportunities and driving development in regions along its route.

Addressing Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Gadkari remarked, "You may get tired of asking, but I will never tire of giving. There is no shortage of funds for National Highway projects. Ask for Rs 10,000 crore, Rs 50,000 crore or even Rs 2 lakh crore."

He also joked that had time permitted, he would have sanctioned Rs 50,000 crore worth of projects for Rajasthan during the visit.

"Next time I come to Jaipur, I have a signed chequebook ready, you only need to fill in the amount," he said.

During his inspection, Gadkari reviewed construction work on Packages 11 to 16 of the expressway and later interacted with officials at the Pinan wayside amenities in Alwar district.

He directed officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the police to strengthen patrolling on the expressway and strictly prevent trucks from being parked haphazardly along the route, stressing that road safety must remain a priority.

The Union Minister also announced two major infrastructure projects for the Kota region.

A 10-km Mukundra bypass will be constructed on NH-52 at an estimated cost of Rs 551 crore, while a 21-km highway via Manpura, costing around Rs 1,000 crore, will directly connect Kota with the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, improving regional connectivity and reducing travel time.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said that Union Minister Gadkari had visited Rajasthan to inspect the construction of the Mukundra Tunnel on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.

He described the tunnel as a remarkable engineering achievement, noting that building such infrastructure through the plateau terrain was a significant accomplishment.

He added that the expressway has been designed with comprehensive safety features, including advanced ventilation systems.

The Chief Minister thanked Gadkari for fulfilling the infrastructure commitments made to Rajasthan and congratulated him on the successful execution of major highway projects in the state.

He also highlighted the Rajasthan government's investment of nearly Rs 5,000 crore in the development of Kota district over the past two-and-a-half years.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sharma said Kota has earned national recognition as India's premier coaching hub, while also praising Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla for enhancing the city's stature through his leadership and public service.

Ahead of Gadkari's visit, NHAI officials and contractors undertook extensive maintenance work along the Delhi-to-Kota stretch of the expressway, carrying out repairs and beautification to ensure the route was inspection-ready.

The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, one of India's largest infrastructure projects, is expected to significantly improve connectivity between northern and western India while boosting trade, logistics and economic development across multiple states.

Mumbai, July 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) Maharashtra State Association of Resident Doctors has welcomed the arrest of Shiv Sena corporator Ramesh Mhatre, who, along with his associates, attacked doctors on duty, including a woman doctor, at Thane hospital; however, it stated that it will continue with the black ribbon protest slated for tomorrow.

The doctors' association said that the healthcare workers, including doctors, will observe a black ribbon stir across the state in all government hospitals and medical colleges to protest against ‘growing violence’ on the medical fraternity.

The power-drunk corporator was arrested by Thane police today after an FIR was lodged against him and three others. All of them were taken to a government hospital for medico-legal examination, after which due legal procedure will be followed to bring them to justice. “

“This timely arrest sends a strong message that violence against doctors and healthcare workers will not be tolerated. The state-wide one-day protest will continue as planned. This protest is not only against this individual incident but also against the increasing incidents of violence against healthcare workers across the state and to reiterate our demand for a safe working environment for all doctors and healthcare professionals,” the MARD said in a statement.

The shocking incident happened at Shastri Nagar hospital in Dombivli on July 6, when the corporator, flanked by his supporters, barged into the hospital and thrashed doctors, accusing them of negligence and dereliction of duty.

The corporator and his goons were caught on camera beating and punching the doctors and medical staff at the hospital, leading to huge uproar and outrage among the public as well as the doctors' fraternity.

A case was registered against Mhatre and others after the video of the assault circulated on social media and went viral. He and three other accused were taken into custody from their residence on Wednesday.

According to hospital officials, the chaos and violence happened when the doctors advised relatives of a newborn to shift the baby to another facility, citing unavailability of beds in the neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the hospital.

Melbourne, July 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday received a rousing welcome from the Indian community members in Melbourne as he began his Australia visit.

PM Modi, who arrived from Indonesia, lauded the warmth of the welcome from the Indian community, terming it as "truly unforgettable".

"The Australian-India Orchestra’s soulful presentation of ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’ was wonderful.

Besides holding bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Albanese, he will also call on Australia's Governor-General Sam Mostyn.

During the visit, PM Modi will participate in the India-Australia CEOs Forum and address leading business leaders from both countries.

The discussions highlighted opportunities for enhanced collaboration in major infrastructure and urban development projects underway in Telangana, including the Musi River Development Project, Hyderabad Metro Rail expansion, and the proposed Future City initiative.

According to a release from the Chief Minister’s Office, the Canadian High Commissioner invited a chief minister-led delegation to visit Canada.

He also noted the major investment by CPP Investments, which entered into a strategic partnership with Hyderabad-based CtrlS Datacenters, in which CPP Investments has committed up to 1 billion Canadian dollars.

The Chief Minister explained Telangana’s success story in various sectors including IT, Life Sciences, Defence and Aerospace. He also highlighted Hyderabad’s dominance in attracting Global Capability Centres (GCCs) of Fortune-500 companies.

Elaborating on his plans to transform the state into a global knowledge hub, the CM mentioned that several top global universities were coming forward to set up campuses in Hyderabad. He pitched the idea of a group of Canadian universities establishing a multi-university campus in Hyderabad.

The CM welcomed growing Canadian engagement in the state and invited Canadian companies, investors, and institutions to participate in the second edition of Telangana's Global Investors Summit, scheduled for December, as a platform to explore new business opportunities and partnerships.

New Delhi, July 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) India on Wednesday said that it remains "deeply concerned" over the recent attacks and escalation of tensions in West Asia, following fresh targeting of commercial shipping transiting international waterways in the region.

Global crude oil prices surged more than six per cent after US President Donald Trump said the ceasefire between Washington and Tehran was effectively "over" following a fresh round of American military strikes on Iran, intensifying concerns over energy supplies from West Asia.

The US President's remarks came amid renewed tensions in the region following a series of attacks on vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil shipping route.

"India is deeply concerned over the recent attacks and escalation of tensions in West Asia, which have followed fresh targeting of commercial shipping transiting international waterways in the region. These developments risk undermining regional peace, security and stability," read a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal late Wednesday.

"India calls upon all parties to exercise restraint, de-escalate tensions, and ensure protection of civilians as well as the uninterrupted flow of energy supplies and commerce. We urge the parties to return to dialogue and diplomacy to achieve a peaceful and lasting solution to the conflict," it added.

International oil benchmark Brent crude climbed as much as 6.52 per cent or $4.69 to trade near $80 a barrel. Similarly, US benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) advanced more than six per cent or $4.85 to around $75 a barrel.

Trump on Wednesday warned Iran that the United States was prepared to launch further military strikes and even reimpose a naval blockade if Tehran continued its attacks, while declaring that he no longer believed negotiations over its nuclear programme were worth pursuing despite leaving the door open for his envoys to keep talking.

Speaking during separate appearances with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and later Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara, Trump defended the latest US military action against Iranian targets, accused Tehran of violating a pause requested for funeral ceremonies and suggested the current diplomatic framework had effectively collapsed.

Trump said Iran had resumed hostile actions after the United States had temporarily held back military operations.

"They said to us, please don't kill us during the funeral. I said I won't. We didn't. In fact, we made it safe for them, actually," Trump said.

He added that Iran had instead resumed attacks.

"They started shooting rockets at ships yesterday," he said.

"So we hit them very hard last night, very hard. I would say 20 to one, 20 times tougher. And I told them, 'Every time you hit, we hit.'"

Asked whether his earlier remarks meant a return to full-scale hostilities, Trump repeatedly avoided giving a direct answer, but warned that more strikes could follow.

"We'll probably hit 'em hard tonight, I'll give 'em a little warning," he said.

Later, he said he had instructed the US military to broaden its targeting during the latest operation.

"I told the military to don't hit the pipes but hit everything else" on Kharg Island, Iran's principal oil export terminal. He also disclosed that Tehran had sought what he described as a "time out" during funeral proceedings before resuming attacks.

US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said US forces had targeted Iranian military assets involved in threatening commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

Dehradun, July 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) Shri Badarinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) Chairman Hemant Dwivedi said on Wednesday that the organisation had taken cognisance of the complaint regarding the alleged theft of donations made at the Badrinath Temple in Uttarakhand's Badrinath "within 24 hours" and assured that whoever is found guilty will be severely punished.

Speaking to IANS, Dwivedi said: ''The Shri Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee received this complaint on July 3 that there had been some manipulation by an employee in the counting room. As soon as the matter came to the notice of the Temple Committee, the Executive Officer Sohan Singh Rangad was directed to immediately seek an explanation from all the officials in the counting room and to secure all the CCTVs in the premises."

"By evening we had also formed a four member inquiry committee. We had taken cognisance of the incident within 24 hours (of receiving the complaint) since the place is at the centre of faith for lakhs of devotees and it is our primary responsibility to maintain the sanctity of the offerings made here," he asserted.

He also said that upon its arrival, the inquiry team found certain irregularities post which the accused employee was immediately suspended from service so that the probe can be impartial.

"Late at night, the temple committee also lodged an FIR against the concerned employee," Dwivedi added.

Dwivedi was referring to Pramod Nautiyal, the Personal Assistant posted in the office of the BKTC Chairman, who was suspended with immediate effect on July 7 by the BKTC, saying that allowing him to continue in his position could compromise the fairness and impartiality of the investigation.

He expressed gratitude to the Uttarakhand government and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for taking immediate cognisance of the matter and forming a probe panel consisting of senior officials.

"The government is open to include any expert into the panel if required, in order to conduct an impartial probe," he added.

"I assure you that a thorough probe will be conducted and strict action will be taken against whoever is found guilty in the matter," he stressed.

Washington, July 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) India on Wednesday strongly opposed the proposed 12.5 per cent additional US tariff on its exports during a US Trade Representative (USTR) Section 301 hearing, arguing that the investigation lacks a legal and factual basis and warning that the proposed action would disrupt supply chains without advancing efforts to eliminate forced labour.

Appearing before the USTR hearing panel, Dr Brij Mohan of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said India objected to the proposed country-wide tariff, contending that the investigation had failed to satisfy the legal standards required under Section 301 and had not demonstrated that India's policies burden US commerce.

He argued that "the USTR has not provided clear assessment and justification for recommending a country-wide tariff rate of 12.5 per cent against almost all imports from India", adding that the methodology relied on "broad trade patterns" rather than sector-specific or product-specific evidence linking Indian exports to forced labour.

Dr Mohan also rejected the premise that the absence of an explicit import ban on goods produced with forced labour amounted to permitting such practices.

"The absence of an explicit forced labour import prohibition does not constitute acquiescing to or permitting forced labour in any form," he told the hearing, adding that eliminating forced labour required multiple policy interventions tailored to country-specific circumstances rather than broad import restrictions.

He further maintained that the USTR had failed to establish any causal link between India's regulatory framework and harm to US commerce.

"In fact, USTR data in Appendix A, such as in relation to tobacco, rice, and cotton, contradicts the demand on which it has made an adverse determination against India," he said, arguing that the data instead showed rising US exports and negligible or declining third-country competition in India.

Following India's principal submission, Shreyans Gupta, First Secretary (Commerce) at the Embassy of India, appeared on behalf of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).

Gupta challenged the USTR's findings on rice imports, saying the conclusions were based on incorrect assumptions.

He said India was the world's largest producer and exporter of rice and that imported rice represented only a tiny fraction of domestic production, serving niche consumer demand rather than export processing. According to the submission, around 45 per cent of India's rice imports originate from Thailand, consisting mainly of speciality jasmine varieties that are neither re-exported nor comparable to US-grown rice.

Gupta said India's exports to the United States consist predominantly of geographically indicated basmati rice grown in designated regions of the Indo-Gangetic plains, while non-basmati exports also originate from domestic production.

He further argued that India's imports account for less than three per cent of the value of rice exported to the US and that regulatory safeguards prevent imported rice from being exported as Indian produce.

"Export of rice from India to the US is allowed only from the rice mills registered with the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare," he said, adding that exporters must also comply with stringent labour standards imposed by major U.S. private sector buyers, including supermarket chains.

Gupta urged the USTR to rescind the investigation against India or, alternatively, exempt Indian rice from any proposed measures, arguing that the findings did not establish that India's policies met the statutory threshold of unreasonableness or restricted US commerce.

Earlier during the hearing, Indian industry bodies also urged the USTR to reconsider the proposed tariff.

Poornima Shenoy of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) said Indian industry fully supported eliminating forced labour from global supply chains but argued that an economy-wide tariff would penalise compliant sectors and increase costs for U.S. businesses and consumers without addressing the underlying issue.

Shuchita Sonalika of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) said India had a comprehensive legal framework prohibiting forced labour and that Indian exporters already operated under rigorous compliance systems required by global customers. She urged the USTR to pursue "compliance-based cooperation, not punitive tariffs", warning that additional duties would disrupt well-established US-India supply chains.

The USTR launched the Section 301 investigation to examine whether several trading partners have failed to prohibit or effectively enforce restrictions on imports produced with forced labour. The public hearings in Washington bring together government officials, industry groups, labour organisations and businesses from multiple countries to present evidence before the USTR makes its final determination.

New Delhi, July 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) The gangster-terror nexus has always been cited by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government in its battle against terror that is threatening the security of both the Indian and international communities, and in a major boost to national security, the US FB) and Canada's RCMP, under Operation Hard Ball, targeted the leadership of criminal gangs that were terrorising law-abiding citizens, particularly those targeting the Punjabi community.

This operation, which targeted gangs run by the gangs headed by Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara, is an important step in the battle against the gangster-terror nexus, officials say.

These gangs were not just targeting Indian nationals abroad and attempting radicalisation, but were also promoting the Khalistan cause, officials also pointed out.

For India, the battle against the Khalistan movement has been very important. It has taken years to convince the international community about the dangers of this movement thriving. These actions suggest that the Modi government has managed to impress upon the international community, especially in the United States and Canada, that all must work together to beat down the Khalistan movement.

An Intelligence Bureau official said that the US action suggests that these groups, under the name of the Khalistan movement, were running transnational operations that were not just limited to one country, and the official said that these gangs had been running operations in Canada, the US, Europe, the UK, New Zealand, and Australia.

The official added that this is a major victory for the Indian agencies, and with such action, crimes such as the Khalistan issue, human trafficking, money laundering and narcotic smuggling would come largely under control.

Another official said that this action is a sign of what is set to come.

In Canada and the UK, the authorities have already started to act. This is largely due to the cooperation built under Prime Minister Modi.

The official said that the Modi government was quick to recognise this issue and warned these countries that backing such groups would have a detrimental effect. The US action led to the arrest of 37 persons who ran their global syndicates from jails in India. They have been charged in separate federal indictments which involve organised crimes and propaganda.

In addition to this, the US authorities have also seized narcotics that form the primary basis of the Khalistan movement. The movement thrives on the smuggling of drugs that is backed by the ISI.

In recent years, the ISI has been backing these elements to promote drug smuggling so that the movement is revived.

Post the operation, the US Department of Justice (DoJ) said: "Operation Hard Ball" was the result of a years-long federal investigation into Indian crime syndicates that engage in racketeering, targeted killings, shootings, extortion, the trafficking of bulk quantities of narcotics across international borders."

US First Assistant Attorney Bill Essayli said: "Transnational criminal gangs who spread fear, drugs, and violence will face the full force of justice and the weight of the federal government."

On the action against Bishnoi, the DoJ said: "In private, Bishnoi presided over a sweeping criminal enterprise that spanned multiple continents. Using contraband cellphones and other voice-over internet protocol devices smuggled into his jail cell, Bishnoi personally directed political assassinations, murders, shootings, extortions, kidnappings, drug trafficking, human smuggling, and other crimes committed by members and associates of the Bishnoi enterprise worldwide."

Officials say that this is not just any ordinary operation that the US authorities have carried out. The Khalistan and gangster-terror nexus has always been a major threat to several countries. However, some countries, for the sake of politics, had ignored this issue. However, India has made it clear that this issue is a major threat, and since the past several months, the cooperation between these countries and Indian agencies has been enhanced.

The Intelligence sharing has gone a long way in identifying this problem, and in the days to come, the Khalistan issue that is linked to drug and arms smuggling is bound to be tackled in a big manner, officials also say.

Jakarta, July 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) When Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Indian community members in Indonesia, he talked about India’s fast growth trajectory with the mantra of ‘reform, perform and transform’ and also underlined how the country’s self-reliance was serving as a multiplying force for the region as a whole.

The Prime Minister also asked the Indian diaspora to tell their Indonesian friends about India and encourage them to visit the country.

A palpable sense of joy and excitement was visible among the community members following PM Modi's address.

Notably, Indonesia is home to a large number of the Indian diaspora, who have been settled here for a long time and also set up their own businesses. Indian cuisine is also quite popular in Indonesia, and a lot of people of Indian origin have opened restaurants here, operating in traditional Indian style and bringing the authentic taste of Indian food.

Indian Flame restaurant owners Bhagwat Nautiyal and his wife Neelam Nautiyal - both natives of Uttarakhand- shared their experience of listening to PM Modi’s speech and how this motivated many like them to follow the advice and guidance, as suggested by him.

Speaking to IANS, Neelam Nautiyal shared her thoughts on PM Modi's recent visit. She said that PM Modi’s visit aroused curiosity among the Indian immigrants and they felt a deep connection to their own people and their roots. She added that it was a matter of great pride for them to attend the event where they had the opportunity to welcome the Prime Minister.

"PM Modi has kept our Indian culture alive, and we too wish to follow in his footsteps. We will teach our children to always remain connected to their culture.”

Siddharth Thaparia, President of the India Club Jakarta, expressed happiness in stating how they successfully and effectively managed the reception ceremony for PM Modi.

“Around 4,000 people attended the event and had the opportunity to meet the Prime Minister. Listening to PM Modi's speech fostered a deep sense of connection to India among the attendees,” he said.

He exuded hope that the Prime Minister’s visit would not only enhance the economic ties between the two nations but also take the people-to-people contact to new levels, besides deepening India’s influence in the region.

New Delhi, July 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) on Wednesday conducted a successful flight test of the Pinaka long-range guided rocket at the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur on India’s east coast, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Defence.

"The rocket was tested for a user-defined minimum range of 60 kms. Demonstrating all in-flight manoeuvres as planned, the long-range guided rocket (LRGR) impacted on the target with textbook precision exactly following the predicted trajectory. All the deployed range instruments tracked the flight throughout its trajectory," the statement said.

The Pinaka LRGR rocket is designed by the Armament Research and Development Establishment in association with the High Energy Materials Research Laboratory, with support from the Defence Research and Development Laboratory and Research Centre Imarat. The flight trial was coordinated by ITR and Proof & Experimental Establishment. The rocket was launched from the in-service Pinaka launcher, demonstrating its versatility and providing launch capability of Pinaka variants of different ranges from the same launcher, it said.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has congratulated the DRDO, the Indian Army and the industry on the successful flight-test. He described it as a major milestone in indigenous design and development capability for long-range guided rockets.

Defence Secretary and Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman, DRDO Rajesh Kumar Singh closely monitored the trials and complimented all the teams associated with the successful test.

In December last year, the DRDO had carried out the maiden flight test of Pinaka Long Range Guided Rocket (LRGR 120) successfully at Integrated Test Range, Chandipur for its maximum range of 120 kms, demonstrating all in-flight manoeuvres as planned. The LRGR impacted on the target with the required precision. All the deployed range instruments tracked the flight throughout its trajectory.

These rockets are meant for use in the Pinaka Multiple Launcher Rocket System (MLRS), a long-range artillery weapon developed by the DRDO.

Known for its rapid response and precision, the Pinaka system enhances the Indian Army's capability in modern warfare.

Kolkata, July 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) Former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday lost her cool and slapped a party worker amid chaos during her party's protest procession in Kolkata against the alleged rape and murder of a minor in Baruipur.

The Trinamool Congress faction led by Mamata Banerjee had called for the procession in protest against the Baruipur incident. The march began from the Ballygunge outpost towards Hazra Crossing in south Kolkata following the order of the Calcutta High Court.

However, soon after the procession moved forward, tension escalated. Slogans of "Chor Chor" (thief) were raised around the procession, and minor clashes reportedly broke out between BJP and Trinamool Congress workers.

Trinamool Congress alleged that its workers were assaulted.

Later, Mamata Banerjee came out of her residence in Kalighat, where a large crowd had gathered. She attempted to control the crowd, but as the commotion intensified, she lost her temper and slapped a party worker in full public view.

Reacting to the incident, Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar said: "Mamata Banerjee has become mentally confused after she was ousted from power. Although all this behaviour is unfortunate, her mental balance has been lost. She is still unable to accept that the people of Bengal have removed her from power."

Meanwhile, after stepping out of her Kalighat residence, Mamata Banerjee strongly criticised the role of the police and also referred to the protesters in Baruipur as "rioters".

She said: "Students and youth have taken out a procession with the permission of the High Court. Everyone has democratic rights. BJP goons have roamed in front of my house. They shouted. They have scared me. Run the government well."

The Trinamool Congress leader alleged, "They have put us under house arrest. The police are keeping an eye on us. They have taken away our hand microphones. They have been playing DJs since 6 a.m. They have brought hired goons and have been rampaging. From my house to the Ballygunge outpost, they have laid hands on the girls. I went out of the house to save them. I saw blood coming out of the girls' cheeks and chest. Is this the change the people of Bengal wanted? We want rape incidents to decrease. Torture to decrease."

She also questioned the role of the police.

"I do not blame the BJP. The police are to blame. Their responsibility was to provide security. Why did they allow BJP workers to enter the procession? Where is the law? There is more unrest in Uttar Pradesh. This is tantamount to contempt of court. We condemn it."

Porbandar, July 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) An Indian Navy's Drishti-10 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) crashed near Dharampur village in Gujarat's Porbandar district on Wednesday during a training sortie, with the Navy confirming that no injuries or loss of life were reported on the ground.

In a post on social media platform X, the Indian Navy spokesperson said: "Indian Navy confirms the crash of Uncrewed Aerial Vehicle Drishti-10, off Porbandar airfield during a training sortie this afternoon. No injury or loss of life has been reported on ground. The cause of the incident is being investigated."

According to local sources, the UAV came down near Dharampur village after reportedly developing a technical fault. Following the incident, personnel from the Indian Navy, the local police and the fire department reached the crash site.

Authorities cordoned off the area as a precaution to prevent unauthorised access while recovery and examination of the wreckage were carried out.

The Navy has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash. Officials are expected to examine whether the incident resulted from a technical malfunction or another factor.

The Navy has not released any further details on the incident and preliminary findings.

The Drishti-10 is an uncrewed aerial vehicle operated remotely from a ground control station.

Such UAVs are used by the Indian Navy for a range of maritime surveillance and reconnaissance missions, including monitoring India's coastline and sea lanes, providing real-time intelligence and imagery, tracking suspicious vessels, and supporting search and rescue operations during adverse weather and maritime emergencies.

Residents of nearby villages reportedly rushed towards the site after hearing the impact of the crash, but emergency responders secured the area soon afterwards.

The crash is now under formal investigation, with technical experts examining the wreckage to establish the sequence of events leading to the accident.

Imphal, July 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Wednesday visited several locations across Senapati district to review ongoing development projects and interact with residents and civil society organisations in the Naga-dominated hill district.

As part of the government's efforts to ensure balanced development across the Imphal Valley and the hill regions, while simultaneously restoring peace and normalcy in the state, the chief minister has, over the past several months, been undertaking extensive tours of Meitei-, Kuki-Zo-, and Naga-inhabited districts.

During Wednesday's visit, Khemchand Singh reviewed the implementation of various government projects and welfare initiatives and held interactions with members of Naga Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and the public to understand their concerns and developmental priorities.

On his arrival at a government potato farm in Mao, the chief minister was briefed by Commissioner of Horticulture T.N. Panmei, who informed him that the department had not received adequate funding over the past two years. As a result, the farm has been unable to maintain its earlier level of production.

Referring to Mao's favourable climatic conditions, Khemchand Singh observed that the region is ideally suited not only for potato cultivation but also for floriculture and a wide range of horticultural crops. He assured the local people that the government would hold consultations with all stakeholders to address the issues and grievances faced by residents of the Mao area.

The chief minister, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister and senior Naga leader Losii Dikho, several legislators and the Deputy Commissioner of Senapati, later met representatives of the United Naga Council (UNC) at the Conference Hall of the Mini Secretariat Complex in Senapati town and discussed various issues concerning the district.

Later, Khemchand Singh was accorded a warm reception at the ACI Auditorium in Punanamei village by representatives of the Mao Council, Mao Students' Union and landowners of the government potato farm. Addressing the gathering, the chief minister announced that the government has formally approved the construction of the Rikhruri Multipurpose Dam. This major project would provide drinking water to 27 surrounding villages and significantly improve water availability in the region.

During the reception programme, the Mao Council and the Poumai Naga Union (PNU) submitted separate memorandums to the chief minister highlighting various developmental demands and public concerns.

Responding to a memorandum submitted by the Mao Students' Union seeking the establishment of a Multipurpose Skill Training, Trade and Youth Activity Centre at Mao, Khemchand Singh said the proposal would be placed before the state Cabinet for consideration.

Regarding the implementation of an agreement with the landowners of the government potato farm, the chief minister assured that the matter would be discussed with the relevant departments and officials to find an appropriate solution.

The chief minister was accompanied during the visit by MLAs Robindro Singh, Sheikh Noorul Hassan and J. Kumo Sha; Commissioner (Home) N. Ashok Kumar; Commissioner of Horticulture T.N. Panmei; Senapati Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar S.; Director of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Nelson Yumnam; Director of Horticulture and Soil Conservation Devabarta Sharma; Chief Engineer of Water Resources Y. Homendro Singh; and the Chief Engineer of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED).

Amaravati, July 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday urged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to exert pressure on the Centre to exempt teachers appointed before 2011 from the compulsory Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) rule.

The YSRCP chief took to social media to highlight the hardships faced by teachers due to the rule requiring them to clear TET.

Jagan told Naidu that it was unfair for his government to ignore the hardships teachers face due to the TET rule.

He posted that more than one lakh teachers who have been serving in schools since before 2011 are now facing serious difficulties because they are being asked to clear the TET compulsorily. Many of them have been working as subject teachers for over 20 to 25 years. Expecting them now to clear a TET examination that covers multiple subjects and secure at least 60 per cent marks is neither fair nor practical, he said.

Jagan said these teachers were appointed only after clearing the competitive recruitment examinations in force at the time. In fact, the TET did not even exist when they were recruited. He questioned how it is justified to impose a qualification retrospectively on teachers who entered service before the TET was introduced.

The YSRCP leader pointed out that the Right to Education Act made TET mandatory from 2011 onwards. When the law itself came into force only from 2011, there is merit in the teachers' demand that those who were already in service before that year should be exempted from the requirement. He said they had already proved their merit by clearing the competitive examinations prescribed during their recruitment.

Jagan said teachers say that the compulsory TET rule is not only blocking their promotions but is also creating uncertainty over their job security and causing severe mental stress. Unfortunately, the state government has failed to address these genuine concerns. It has not even taken the initiative to pass a resolution in the Assembly seeking an amendment to the law and forwarding it to the Central government.

He demanded that the state government pressure the Centre to exempt all teachers appointed before 2011 from the TET requirement and provide them with long-overdue relief. He added that it must not be forgotten that these teachers secured their jobs only after successfully clearing the competitive recruitment examinations that existed at the time of their appointment.

After arriving in the Australian city, PM Modi stated that he is looking forward to the talks with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Thursday and his visit will add vigour to the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Besides holding bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Albanese, he will also call on Australia's Governor-General Sam Mostyn.

During the visit, PM Modi will participate in the India-Australia CEOs Forum and address leading business leaders from both countries.

Albanese said the relationship is underpinned by the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and strengthened by deep economic and cultural connections.

"Our cooperation on trade, defence, security and technology is delivering benefits for both countries," the Australian Prime Minister said.

India's High Commissioner to Australia, Nagesh Singh, said that Prime Minister Modi's upcoming visit to Australia for the third time in 10 years is a significant reflection of the remarkable growth in bilateral ties over the past decade.

Speaking with IANS, the envoy said the changing global landscape is bringing India and Australia closer together, with both countries sharing common strategic interests and a broad-based partnership.

"This is a very important indicator. Prime Minister Modi coming to Australia for the third time in 10 years is a very important indicator of how the relationship between India and Australia has been growing very rapidly over the past decade. It is a very comprehensive relationship, which we have enhanced to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2020, and when we call it comprehensive, then literally, whether it is defence and security, trade and investment, or people-to-people connect, new and emerging technologies, clean energy, education and skilling, mobility, is what we talk about," he said.
