More than halfway into the 2025 Indian Premier League, the tournament has been anything but predictable. Traditional heavyweights Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings endured a rocky start, but the latter is showing signs of a comeback as the playoff race heats up.

Teams have generally made the most of home advantage this season, but not Royal Challengers Bengaluru — they’ve lost several times at Chinnaswamy while staying flawless away.

We have looked at bookmakers to see what their odds are saying about the potential 2025 IPL champions. Here they are: 

1. Mumbai Indians 

Mumbai Indians began their campaign in familiar fashion — slow off the blocks with four losses in their opening five. However, a run of consecutive victories since then has reignited their campaign. 

Rohit Sharma has found his rhythm with back-to-back 70s, Trent Boult is delivering at the death, and Jasprit Bumrah, back after missing the first four matches, is already back to his best.

The Indians are still trailing at this point, but their mid-season resurgence has made cricket betting sites believe that they have the best prospects of winning the title this season. As the race to the playoffs gets more intense, Hardik Pandya and company find themselves with the most favourable odds to lift the trophy at Eden Gardens on May 25. 

Pandya said he always believed his team would start dominating once everyone clicked together. As the key players of the squad have started performing, we can expect another title charge from the five-time champions. 

2. Royal Challengers Bengaluru

Virat Kohli has been on the hunt for the Orange Cap once again, and this time, his form looks identical to RCB’s 2016 campaign, when they reached the final. Age seems just a number for the 36-year-old. Kohli has adapted his approach masterfully, attacking when required and anchoring the innings when the situation demands.

With Phil Salt, Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar, and Tim David stepping up as reliable support acts, and the bowlers holding their nerve in key moments, RCB have carved out an impressive away record.

There have been struggles at home, however. They lost their first three home matches and set an unwanted IPL record. Josh Hazlewood's superb 4/33 gave RCB a hard-fought 11-run win over Rajasthan Royals — their first home win in four attempts. While they've struggled at the Chinnaswamy, their solid away form is keeping their IPL title winning odds strong. 

3. Gujarat Titans

Rashid Khan hasn’t quite been at his best, but that hasn’t stopped Gujarat Titans from putting together one of the most balanced bowling units this season. 

Prasidh Krishna has returned from a long injury break in sensational form, while R Sai Kishore has been equally impressive with the ball. Mohammed Siraj, meanwhile, has been a menace in the powerplay, combining pace with late swing. All three have already hit double figures in the wickets column this season.

The batting line-up is just as stable. Shubman Gill and B Sai Sudharsan might not come out swinging, but they know exactly how to pace an innings, and it’s paying off. They are one of the top-scoring partnerships in the league this season.

Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill, and Jos Buttler have each faced more than 80 balls combined in seven of Gujarat Titans’ first eight matches. Their strong starts have taken the pressure off a middle order that might look a bit undercooked but has still delivered, like when Rahul Tewatia sealed the win in the final over against Delhi Capitals.

Overall, the Titans look incredibly balanced at the moment. So, they could be a safer pick to bet on going all the way in this year’s IPL. 

4. Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals got off to a dream start under new skipper Axar Patel, winning their first four games in IPL 2025. However, their homecoming has been far less fruitful. Of their first three fixtures at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, they’ve lost twice, with their sole win requiring a Super Over.

Form issues for some big names, including KL Rahul and Mitchell Starc, haven’t helped. With the playoff battle heating up, they’ll need to regroup and find their rhythm again. That said, they’re still among the top picks to win it all. 

5. Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings have had batting issues this season. Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya bring aggression and flair at the top, but cracks appear further down the order. 

Glenn Maxwell and Josh Inglis have struggled to make meaningful contributions so far, leaving PBKS with one of the weakest middle-order records, both in terms of strike rate and average, among all 10 IPL teams. 

Despite these shortcomings, the young blood of Punjab Kings have still kept them in contention for the title.

Playing for Delhi Capitals Bal Bhavan Cricket Academy in the match against Endurance Cricket Academy in the Dream Chasers Cup Under-14 cricket tournament in Delhi, 13-year-old teenager Mohak Kumar hit a memorable 331 runs off 125 balls. Smashing 30 sixes and 28 fours at a whopping strike rate of 264.80 amidst applause from many, the Delhi youngster was destructive during the course to his triple century at Shiksha Bharti Public School Stadium.

The young cricketer wreaked havoc in the 40-overs match while being at the crease for 137 minutes.

The world had known about this cracking century after the footage was shared by Delhi Capitals on its Twitter and Facebook handles.

Here are some of the great batting adventures of some teenagers who went on to rise in ranks:

February 1988: Sachin Tendulkar (14) and Vinod Kambli (16) made history with 326 not out and 349 not out respectively while playing for Shardashram Vidyamandir against St Xavier's High School in Harris Shield trophy in Azad Maidan, Mumbai. This 664-run stand was the highest partnership for any wicket in any class of cricket. 

November 2006: Hyderabad’s St Peter High School kids B Manoj Kumar (320 not out) and Mohammad Shaibaz (324 not out) created history when their 721-run world record partnership beat the 664-run stand made by Tendulkar and Kambli. This was achieved by the two junior Hyderabad cricketers in the Hyderabad Cricket Association Inter-School Under-13 tournament.

November 2009: A twelve-year-old Sarfaraz Khan scored 439 runs hitting 56 boundaries and 12 sixes during his 421-ball innings while playing for Rizvi Springfield against Indian Education Society in Harris Shield tournament at Kandivli, Mumbai. This knock broke the record set by R Nagdev who had scored 427 not out in 1963-64.

October 2010: 15-year-old Ali Zorain Khan playing for Nagpur Cricket Academy in Nagpur in a tournament hit 461 not out off 306 balls, and broke BB Nimbhalkar’s 443 not out set in 1948 during a first-class match between Maharashtra Vs Kathiawar in Pune.

December 2010: 13-year-old Armaan Jaffer entered the world records for the highest individual score in school cricket. Armaan smashed 498 for Rizvi Springfield School against IES Raja Shivaji School in Giles Shield tournament at Cross Maidan in Mumbai.

February 2013: Armaan Jaffer again when he was 15 years old broke the record for the highest score in Under-16 Harris Shield tournament with 473 runs, playing for Rizvi Springfield school against IES VN Sule Guruji in the final. Facing 359 balls, he hit 65 fours and 16 sixes in the innings that lasted 437 minutes.

November 2013: Prithvi Shaw, when he was 14 years of age, smashed 546 runs off 330 balls, the highest score by any Indian batsman in minor cricket, during a Harris Shield match at the Azad Maidan in Mumbai. This innings played over two days for 367 minutes had 85 fours and 5 sixes.

November 2018: 14-year-old Priyanshu Moliya playing for Mohinder Lala Amarnath Cricket Academy against Yogi Cricket Academy in the Shri DK Gaekwad Under-14 tournament in Vadodara, scored 556 not out and went past Prithvi Shaw’s 546.

Many hope young Mohak Kumar plays for India in the future if he continues to display such talent on the field.

New Delhi, Aug 3 (IANS) Back on the field after their World Cup debacle, Team India will start their preparations for next year's World T20 in the first T20I of the three-match series against the West Indies at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium on Saturday.

Before leaving for the West Indies tour, skipper Virat Kohli had said the line-up of such trophies - World T20s in 2020 and 2021 -- ensured "players always had something to play for, look forward to". And thus, the three-match rubber will provide him with the chance of giving youngsters an opportunity to showcase their talent in the shortest format of the game.

The series will serve as a great opportunity for the likes of Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer and Khaleel Ahmed, who missed out on a chance to play in the 50-over World Cup in the UK.

All these three players performed well for the India "A" side in the Caribbean Islands and would want to continue with their form and impress the captain as well as the selectors for future.

The series could also see Rahul Chahar and Navdeep Saini make their international debuts as many senior bowlers have been rested. The only experienced campaigner in the pace bowling line-up is Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

In the batting department, Rohit Sharma is almost certain to be joined by his regular partner Shikhar Dhawan who got injured in England. K.L. Rahul will most likely be batting after Kohli if the team management doesn''t wish to give Iyer a go. This should be followed by promising wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant.

The Men in Blue will go into the series as favourites even though West Indies are counted amongst the most dangerous sides in this format of the game.

New Delhi, Aug 3 (IANS) Virat Kohli's Team India will be remembered for its bowlers. India have had some extraordinary batsmen like Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma in limited overs cricket, Cheteshwar Pujara in Tests and Kohli himself across formats, but the spine of India's successes over the past couple of years, especially in series away from home, has been their bowlers.

Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal managed to push Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja out of the picture in limited overs cricket and have ran through entire batting lineups on a number of occasions. Mohammed Shami overcame fitness issues to go from being on the verge of permanent exile from the national team to taking a World Cup hat-trick to win a match for them.

The rise of Jasprit Bumrah has been the most striking among all this. He has taken no time in establishing his credentials of being one of the best pacers in the world since he burst on to the scene in limited overs cricket and subsequently made his Test debut.

Bumrah helped India not feel the absence of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, whose injuries seem to have interrupted what was otherwise a burgeoning international career. The 25-year-old has been tossed the ball by Kohli whenever India needed a wicket and he delivered.

It will hence be interesting to see what India's bowling performances will look like in their tour of West Indies. Kuldeep and Chahal Bumrah is not playing the limited overs series while Kuldeep and Chahal have been rested for the three-match T20 series while Bumrah is only playing in the two Tests that follows the limited overs leg of the tour.

The standout quotes from Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri's press conference before the team's departure for the tour may have been about the purported rift between the Indian skipper and Rohit. But Kohli did speak about this change in the bowling department.

"When I met the selectors the basic message from them was to try out a few players they had in mind. I am particularly excited for the three T20Is because of the new guys coming in," he said.

Off the new faces in the team for the T20Is, 26-year-old Navdeep Saini and 19-year-old Rahul Chahar are making their debuts. Deepak Chahar has played one ODI for India -- the tied Asia Cup 2018 game against Afghanistan, Washington Sundar has one ODI and seven T20Is under his belt while Khaleel Ahmed has played eight ODIs and nine T20Is.

Apart from the newbies, Ravindra Jadeja could play his first T20I since July 2017. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is in the squad as he tries to get back to his lethal best.

This means that when India start out their T20 series at Lauderhill, Florida, they will be without their three biggest sources of wickets over the past couple of years.

The selectors drew a lot of flack for the batsmen they chose for this tour and it has been inferred that India are not starting their preparation for the 2020 World T20 with this series. However, one could argue that the selection of new bowlers coupled with experienced heads trying to rediscover their mojo means that the think tanks are shuffling their cards a bit to see what lies beneath their usual lineup of dependable bowlers.

It means that this series, particularly the T20s, will be one of those rare occasions when all eyes will be on how the Indian bowlers fare. Some of these players could be looking back on this series many years down the line as the one that changed their career -- for better or for worse.

Kolkata, Aug 3 (IANS) After a forgettable World Cup campaign, the West Indies will have the odds stacked heavily against them even at home against India.

But with the tourists bearing an unsettled look on and off the pitch, they might fancy their chances of pulling off an upset of sorts in the full series comprising three T20s, three ODIs and two tests starting Saturday.

IANS takes a look at West Indies' strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats ahead of India's tour for the limited overs.

Strengths:

West Indies have always been a threat when it comes to T20s. The players not only play around the globe in T20 leagues, but are also very successful with the likes of Gayle, Andre Russell, Kieron Pollard being some of the big names in the shortest format. Therefore, they will have an edge over India in the three T20s.

Athough the World Cup has shown they are still not there as far as ODIs are concerned, upcoming stars like Shai Hope and Nicholas Pooran will look to make an impression against India who are without star pacer Jasprit Bumrah in the series.

Also, in his final appearance, Gayle will look to end on a high and on his day, there are few more destructive batters than him even at 39 years of age.

Weaknesses:

West Indies batters lack temperament and that is their biggest problem as far as the ODIs are concerned. The World Cup was a testament to their poor application and against a quality side like India, that can hurt them big time unless they buck up.

The bowling is also thin on experience as was evident in the World Cup but Sheldon Cottrell did show promise and he will be looking to continue with the good work.

Opportunities:

For Gayle, it is an opportunity to end on a high, but more importantly for West Indies cricket, the likes of Hope, Pooran, John Campbell, Roston Chase will see this as an opportunity to further cement their places as the future of Windies cricket. These players have shown in the past that they have it in them and by doing well against India, they can further boost that image.

Threats:

Playing India is always a challenge and for the West Indies who lack pedigree in longer formats of the game, it is all the more a threat as a slip up can lead to further plummeting in the pecking order. While there is a silver lining in India coming into the tour being under the pump for more reasons than one, another show like the World Cup where they were billed as the dark horses can lead to their downfall.

After a hear breaking semifinal experience for the Indian fans in the ongoing world cup, there is one question that has been haunting them. Why Dhoni was sent at No 7 though India lost three early wickets. After the departure of Rohit, Kohli, and Rahul for just 5 runs on the board, everyone expected that MSD would be sent ahead of Pant and Pandya. But the contrary has happened.

India head coach Ravi Shastri has revealed sending MS Dhoni to bat at number seven against New Zealand in 2019 World Cup semi-final was a team decision and everyone was in with it. He added sending Dhoni out to bat early would've killed the chase. "It would've been criminal to not make use of Dhoni as a finisher," he further said.

But, all the former players and cricket analysts opined that an experienced customer like Dhoni would have sent at that lethal phase. Even former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, who was on air was telling the same when every batsman came out ahead of Dhoni. Even the result is inevitable, the debates will continue for a very long time.

Birmingham, July 2 (IANS) Indias batting in the last 10 overs at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground on Tuesday might have given hope to some fans of a Bangladesh fightback, but two things they forgot -- the experience of the Indian bowling attack and the slowness of the wicket.

After all, this was the same pitch where India played England on Sunday. Chasing 315 for a win, Bangladesh folded up for 286 as India not only won the match by 28 runs, but also qualified for the knockout stages.

Defending 314, in-form Shakib Al Hasan was the only real threat for the Indian bowlers as the Bangladesh batsmen came out pretty subdued in their chase. And once Hardik Pandya sent back Shakib for 66, caught by Dinesh Karthik, in the 34th over, it was advantage India.

The otherwise dangerous Mushfiqur Rahim also flattered to deceive as he hit a 23-ball 24 before Yuzvendra Chahal got him to sweep one straight to Mohammed Shami at square-leg.

Sabbir Rahman (36 off 36 balls) and Mohammad Saifuddin (52 not out off 38 balls) did try their best, but getting 90 runs from the last 10 overs with just four wickets in the bag proved to be a bit too much to expect from the Bangladesh lower-order after the top-order failed to provide the platform required while chasing scores in excess of 300.

But credit to Saifuddin for keeping Bangladesh in the game right till the end with a quickfire unbeaten half-century.

Earlier, the Men in Blue rode a brilliant 104 from Rohit Sharma -- his fourth century in this edition of the showpiece event -- to post 314/9 in their 50 overs. Not to forget the brilliant comeback from Mustafizur Rahman as he finished with a fifer.

With skipper Virat Kohli opting to bat first, it was all about starting well. And Indian openers Rohit and K.L. Rahul did just that as they took the attack to the Bangladesh bowlers from the word go.

In fact, the otherwise cautious Rohit made his intentions clear early into the match as he hit Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza for a six in the very first over of the innings. And with Tamim Iqbal dropping him on 9, it was just the kind of leeway the opener needed to shift gears and deal only in boundaries.

Rahul on the other hand was happy to mix caution with aggression as the duo finished the first powerplay on 69/0. The Bangla bowlers wore a confused look as they were clearly short of ideas. Not just the bad balls, even the good deliveries were sent to the boundary as Rohit and Rahul looked like they were keen to break the backbone of the Bangladesh bowling attack.

With the Indians looking to up the ante, Mortaza finally turned to Soumya Sarkar in the 30th over and the part-time bowler broke the 180-run opening partnership, the highest in this edition of the World Cup, as he sent back Rohit moments after he reached his 26th ODI century.

Rahul (77) followed back three overs later as Rubel Hossain got him to cut one that was too close to the body and Mushfiqur Rahim picked up a smart catch behind the wicket. The score read 195/2 as Rishabh Pant joined Kohli in the middle.

But Kohli looked slightly jittery from the start and wasn't his usual fluent self even though he did hit some of his vintage flicks and drives. In the 39th over Bangladesh came right back into the game as Mustafizur first sent back Kohli (26) and then dismissed Hardik Pandya (0) as the scoreboard suddenly went from 237/2 to 237/4.

At the end of the 40th over, the score read 251/4 as Pant and M.S. Dhoni looked to consolidate as also keep up the momentum.

Pant (48) was dismissed in the 45th over as an attempted sweep landed in the hands of Mossadek Hossain who held on after some juggling act. Dhoni did try his bit at the end as he hit a 33-ball 35, but the Bangla bowlers came back strongly as they picked up 5 wickets in the last 10 overs in which India managed just 63 runs.

After Team India faced their first defeat by England in the ongoing World Cup, most of Indian Cricket Lovers came down heavily on Dhoni and Kedhar Jadhav who failed to attack at the death overs when required run rate is above 10.

It is known that India lost by a margin of 31 runs because of the poor scoring rate in the first 10 overs and last 6 overs. Now, most the people who are criticizing Dhoni are Kohli and Rohit fans. They take a jibe on former Indian captain for not attacking as much as they should have in the last 6 overs though the asking rate was too high.

Fans of Dhoni shot back at the critics saying the Wicket Keeper-Batsman did quite well by scoring 42 of 31 balls at a strike rate of 135. India recorded their biggest victory against Pakistan in World Cup by defeating them by 89 runs (DLS method) surpassing the 76-run win in the 2015 edition.

Rohit Sharma recorded the highest score (140) in India-Pakistan World Cup matches and became the fastest batsman to reach 1,000 ODI runs (18 innings) in England.

Virat Kohli became the first Indian to win his first three World Cup matches as captain. He also became the fastest player to score 11,000 runs in ODI who took 222 innings which is 54 less the previous fastest Sachin Tendulkar – 276.

India won each of their seven matches in the World Cup against Pakistan, the joint-most wins against a team in the CWC without a defeat. Pakistan also won all their seven World Cup matches against Sri Lanka.

Rohit Sharma became the first Indian to score back to back centuries against Pakistan in the ODI format. He scored an unbeaten 111 against Pakistan during the Asia Cup 2018 in Dubai.

Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul pair have a partnership average of 72 in International cricket; the best for an Indian pair with 1000+ runs. The duo has shared 1080 runs in 17 partnerships with help of three-century stands and six fifty-run stands.

The partnership of 136 between Rohit and Rahul is the first ever 100-run opening stand in India-Pakistan CWC games.

More than anything it is a win against arch-rivals Pakistan and 7th consecutive loss for Pakistan against India in World Cups who are yet to defeat India in this mega tournament.

India began their 2019 World cup campaign against South Africa in Southampton. International Cricket Council posted an illustration of India skipper sitting on a throne with a crown and a bat in hand.

"kindly be mature don’t be biased... India is not the only country who participated in CWC…," wrote one Twitter user. "India is not the only country who participated in CWC," a user wrote. "Other teams to ICC right now: Are we a joke to you?" wrote another.

The 2019 cricket World Cup is the first for Virat Kohli as the captain of the Indian cricket team and he would be hoping to make his mark and winning the tournament in his first attempt.

ICC replies to all these comments including Michael Vaughn, the EXx- England captain who stand first to criticize Indian Cricketers. Vaughan took to Twitter to criticize ICC for sharing India captain Virat Kohli's illustration as a king, writing, "Nothing like impartiality!!!"

ICC responded to Vaughan by sharing screenshots, showing Kohli's number one ranking among batsmen in both ODI and T20I cricket, and his hat-trick at ICC awards. Several fans had also criticized ICC, accusing it of bias.

Jadeja’s father Anirudhsinh joined politics today ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in India and Yesterday his sister Naina joined Indian national congress in the presence of her father. No surprises then that the Jadeja house is divided due to the family members’ divided loyalty. There is some tension about whom this Indian all-rounder support ahead of Lok Sabha Polls.

Jadeja’s wife Riva’s journey in politics had started last year only. In October last year, she had joined Karni Sena and was appointed the President of Women’s wing in Gujarat. At that time, she had played down her chances of joining politics, insisting that she primarily wanted to do something good for the community.

However, she then changed her mind and decided to join the ruling party just days before the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections. There is nothing to blame the selectors ahead World Cup 2019 as they played safe in the announcement of the 15 member squad. But, many former Indian cricketers and Sports analysts opine that Rishabh Pant should be in the World Cup Squad and here are the things they mention as reasons and the need for his inclusion.

Let alone the number four spot, as Indian batting line up revolves around the top three who can bat about 30 overs the maximum number of matches, Pant can come with all guns blazing as he is the most aggressive in the batting lineup that could hand India a very big score which has been a major problem for the team these days. Pant’s keeping skills improved a lot these days and even if DK was selected as the second wicket-keeper, there is KL Rahul who is the major competitor for No 4 spot.

The next big thing is, Pant’s inclusion provides some balance in the team with his left-hand batting style as apart form Dhawan there is no left-hander in the team until Ravindra Jadeja (if he was placed in Playing XI). Well, DK sealed his spot as he turned out as a very good finisher in recent times but it is very tough for him to make into Playing XI with Jadhav and Pandya in the team who can bowl some good overs.

He will be joining Congress party and most probably contest the elections from Jamnagar area in Gujarat from where the Jadeja belongs.

Now, his sister Naina joins the Congress party in the presence of her father on Sunday. But Jaddu’s wife is in Bharatiya Janatha Party who joined last month.

Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja sealed his spot in the 15 members squad for upcoming World Cup. He is now with Chennai Super Kings and giving some match-winning performances with the bat.

Can he take a break for election campaigning? If he intends to do so whom would he support? That’s a tough ask.

Team India chief selector MSK Prasad has said the selection committee will announce the squad for 2019 World Cup on or before April 20. As per the tournament's guidelines, every team has to unveil its final squad at least a month before the beginning of the tournament on May 30. The World Cup will take place in England and Wales.

Prasad, who visited a temple at Srikalahasti town in Andhra Pradesh, his home state, spoke to journalists later and said they have worked on the team and players for one-and-half years now and tried and tested combinations. Prasad said the squad for the 2019 World Cup will be announced on or before April 20.

Ten teams will participate in this year’s World Cup, the 12th edition since 1975, and will play each other in the round-robin format with the top four point-earners making it to the semi-finals.

India has won ICC Test Championship mace for the third year in a row after finishing at the top of ICC Test team rankings on the cut-off date of April 1. India has also been awarded $1-million cash prize.

New Zealand, who are ranked second, won $500,000 prize money after finishing with 108 points, eight behind India. Meanwhile, New Zealand finishes second after series win over Bangladesh; South Africa and Australia finish third and fourth, respectively.

The Kane Williamson-led side, who also had the satisfaction of seeing their captain get the ICC Spirit of Cricket award for 2018, earnt $ 500,000 after finishing with 108 points, eight behind India.

South Africa, who had finished second the previous two times, will now get prize money of $200,000 for finishing third with 105 points while Australia who edged out England on decimal points at 104 points bag $100,000. England pacer Stuart Broad, who was hit for six sixes in an over by Yuvraj Singh in 2007, took to Instagram to troll RCB leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. In Thursday’s match, where Mumbai face off Royal Challengers of Bangalore, Yuvaraj has hit Yuzvendra Chahal for three consecutive sixes after this leggier gained upper hand getting Yuvi out for the very next ball.

Later Chahal in press meet said, “When he (Yuvraj) hit three sixes, I felt like Stuart Broad. You know he is a legend batsman and I backed myself. I had to bowl a bit up, might be a chance to get him out because it is a smaller ground. So that time, I thought of bowling my best delivery and he got sixes. That you cannot help and hence I bowled a wider googly,”

Responding to Chahal, who said he felt like Broad after being hit for three successive sixes by Yuvraj, Broad said, "Hope he feels like me in 10 years time with 437 Test wickets.

It seems like a bit of exaggeration where SRH bowlers went for bashing in the first two games in this season of IPL. But here is the question among the cricketing circles about SRH’s potentiality as a good bowling unit, indeed great unit. Let me tell you, among the six centuries scored in the last two seasons in IPL, five came against Sun Risers Hyderabad. In the last season, all centuries were scored against Sunrisers.

There are reasons. SRH are over-dependent on Rashid khan since his presence in the team. Indian pacers like Sandeep Sharma, Siddharth Kaul, and Basil Thampi are not consistent all the time. They still have Natarajan in the bench and other two good Indian pacers that increases the pressure on on-field pacers. There are many good teams who defended low scores such as Delhi, Mumbai, Punjab in the previous seasons other than SRH.

What made SRH special is their consistency in defending but most of the times hey failed to defend highest totals and to restrict the opposition to below par score. This leads to a new discussion. Rashid Khan seems like both boon or bane for SRH and even this Afghan specialist has a weakness of his inability to bowl left-hand batsmen efficiently compared to right-handers.

The best Indian pacer, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar has become vulnerable in the death overs which both himself and the team’s management need to sort out as quickly as possible. Even they are good at defending small totals which made them the best bowling unit in IPL, their failure in defending big totals and giving plenty of runs when bowled first can’t fit that tag line for this veteran team.

More ever, you can’t expect the best bowling team fail to defend 54 runs in the last three overs having their best bowler left with 2 overs. Let’s see whether Sun Risers Hyderabad will gain the glory back..!

Exclusive: An analysis of Mankading Incident…Why it went that controversial?

Now, it went very controversial and there have been so many debates since the incident took place. Even there was a bit of argument between Ashwin and Jos on the field. Sports analyst Raunak Kapoor tweeted, "Issue on whether Buttler was actually trying to gain an undue advantage is irrelevant to the Mankad debate IMO. Even if Ashwin was looking to get him out, even deceive him, if it’s within the laws, he is entitled to. If it’s such a blasphemy, then push for its removal."

The above tweet seems sensible until another angle comes into play. It was, Ashwin actually stopped his rhythm to let Butler go down the crease and it was not desperate but very intentional to ran him out. But Ashwin claimed that it was instinctive as Buttler was disturbing his rhythm by going down before he bowls.

Later same Raunak Kapoor tweeted, "Seen the replay a few times. Don’t think in this case Buttler is trying to gain undue advantage, also I have no doubt Ashwin is looking for this wicket. Still, think Right or wrong is a matter of where you stand on the Mankad law in general. You will see what you want to see."

Even Senior commentator Harsh Bhogle couldn’t take a stand on this incident as he initially supported Ashwin comparing his action with a keeper that there is no need to warn the batsman as keeper never does such kind of thing and he acted as per laws.

But later he took his time and tweeted, "My final point on this. Ashwin ran Buttler out. It went to the 3rd umpire who is on the ICC Elite panel. This rule will come into action with the historical 'Ashes’ tournament that will take place between England and Australia.

Till now, the names of the players appear on the jersey in the limited overs cricket only and with the Test championship to follow in the July and August this year to the 2021where the final will be held, ICC took this decision for the red ball cricket too.

Now, the biggest question is, how BCCI responds on this new inference by ICC. ICC is the chief body and BCCI must follow the instructions but BCCI previously declared that the jersey number 10 of Sachin Tendulkar won’t be used in the future to any player. Now, what decision does BCCI take on Sachin’s Jersey number as well as trademark jersey number "7" which is being used by Dhoni?

Former Indian player, Gautam Gambhir criticized Team Indian captain Virat Kohli that he is "Lucky" to have survived as a captain to Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL despite RCB not winning an IPL title.

He said that Kohli failed as a captain for RCB as he was not tactful and he this ICC cricketer of the year should not be compared with MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma who are the most successful IPL captains ever with three titles each.

Kohli, responding on Gambhir’s comments said, "If I think like people from outside, I can’t even sustain five games. I’d be sitting home. We’ve to be practical about why we haven’t won… that boils down to bad decision making in pressure.

Gambhir led Delhi DareDevils in the early seasons IPL and later captained Kolkata Knight Riders and led them to title glory in 2012 and 2014.

For the first time, Indian Premier League is going to happen entirely in India during the polling period. The official broadcaster of the Indian Premier League, Cricket World Cup and the official sponsor of the Indian team, Star Sports requested the board to all the advertisement of political ads.

But BCCI has turned down the request and made it clear that it would stick to its policy to not allow political and religious advertisements during a bilateral, international or domestic tournament held under its banner. It is known that the Assembly Polls in some states and LS polls in the entire country will be held in phases from April 11th.

The 12th edition of the IPL will kick off from March 23rd with the battle between defending champions Chennai Super Kings and Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers of Bangalore.

Kohli was the skipper of the RCB in 9 out of 11 tournaments so far but failed to bag an IPL trophy for his team even his team managed to reach the IPL finals thrice but succumbed to pressure in the big game.

'I don't think Kohli is an intelligent Captain. He needs to do more as a Captain. Not even once did he fetched IPL Trophy. He can be a successful cricketer only by making RCB champion. Both Dhoni and Rohit Sharma bagged 3 trophies each already. Don't compare Kohli with them. Continuing him as a captain itself is a big thing...he should be grateful to the franchise for it. Other captains hadn't received so many opportunities', Gambhir said.

He was placed in the National team after leading U-19 team to victory.

He was in RCB since 2008 and under Kohli’s captaincy Bangalore reached to Final once and lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in a high scoring game. This team will face the defending champions Chennai Super Kings in the 12th edition of the IPL opener.

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan broke their own record and registered the highest opening partnership for India against Australia. Rohit was dismissed for 95 but Dhawan went on to hit his 16th hundred in one-day cricket.

Dhawan and Rohit got India off to a dominating start, forging a 193-run opening wicket stand. Rohit Sharma impressed everyone with his brilliant batting performance during the fourth ODI encounter between India and Australia in Mohali Today and although he missed out on a century by just 5 runs, the Indian cricket team opener was able to add another major milestone to his already illustrious career.

Earlier, Rohit and Dhawan had added 178 against Australia in Nagpur in 2013. In the same series, they had added 176 in Jaipur for the opening wicket. Notably, Rohit and Dhawan had surpassed Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag to become the second most successful pair for India.
