Hyderabad, Jan 21 (SocialNews.XYZ) The veil of suspense over the much-awaited release of S.S. Rajamouli's directorial 'RRR' was lifted on Friday, with the makers announcing two possible dates for the movie's release.

Taking to social media, the producers listed March 18 as the release date, provided theatres are allowed full occupancy by then. The alternative date is April 28, "if the pandemic situation does not improve" before that.

The movie starring Telugu stars Ram Charan and NTR, with Ajay Devgan and Aliya Bhatt essaying crucial roles, was supposed to be released on January 7. In view of the third Covid wave, however, the plan was dropped just a couple of days before the scheduled release date.

The movie, made in five languages -- Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi -- has been one of the most awaited movies after Rajamouli's superhit 'Bahubali' movie saga.

Mumbai, Jan 17 (SocialNews.XYZ) Marathi film 'Zombivali', the poster of which was released on Monday, is all set to hit theatres on January 26.

The film is the first ever zombie film in the realm of Marathi cinema and stars Lalit Prabhakar, Vaidehi Parshurami, Amey Wagh and Trupti Khamkar.

The recently released poster of the film shows five characters, all charged up to face and slash the zombies as bravery is no longer an option but a necessity for them. Commenting on the release announcement of the comedy horror, actress Trupti Khamkar said, "Due to ongoing global pandemic everything was on hold but today the makers released the poster and it gave us all a ray of sunshine."

She adds, "We have been waiting for this day patiently and here it is. This only makes us happy and proud. We are just one step behind to reach our audience."

The film is written by Mahesh Iyer, Sainath Gabuwaad, and Yogesh Joshi and directed by Aditya Sarpotdar was earlier scheduled to release on February 4 but, the makers have decided to prepone the film's release by almost a week.

Mumbai, Jan 15 (SocialNews.XYZ) Punjabi film 'Jatt Brothers' starring singer-actors Guri and Jass Manak, Nikeet Dhillon and Priyanka Khera, and directed by Manav Shah, is set to release theatrically on February 4.

The film, which marks the acting debut of Jass Manak, was shot in January 2020, but its release was dogged by delays because of the pandemic.

Shedding light on his role and the film's theme, Guri said: "This film is all about the bond of friendship with a mixture of emotions. My role is about a guy, who is very decent and helps his best friend in every situation no matter what."

About Jass, Guri added: "He is like my brother and I'm happy we worked together. His sense of humour is great that you will get to see in the film. We were completely comfortable with each other."

Talking about his acting debut and working with Guri, Jass shared, "The film is about all the fun I had in my college and school. I am playing the role of a guy who is very mischievous. It was my debut movie so I was very excited to play my character. I hope people like it."

He added: "It was a very good experience working with my brother Guri. He is a very good actor and a very genuine guy. He helped me alot during the shoot. I'm thankful to god that I got a chance to work with him for my debut."

Talking about the film and his association with Guri and Jass Manak, producer K.V. Dhillon said: "'Jatt Brothers' is all about the friendship of two college going bestfriends with a lot of fun, comedy, romance along with twists and turns. You must watch this family. It's great to work with great talent like them and they are like my brothers. They worked hard for their character which you can see from the trailer."

Mumbai, Jan 15 (SocialNews.XYZ) Kiran Raj has completed working on the Kannada film 'Bahaddhur Gandu', a nod to the 1976 hit movie of the same name starring the late superstar Dr Rajkumar. In his words, the film is a complete entertainer with a lot of action sequences.

"The story is of a regular guy who always supports good and never tolerates ill behaviour. He travels to his village and observes many things going wrong which he corrects and becomes everyone's favourite, it's a complete entertainer with a lot of action sequences," he said.

He is also done with another Kannada film titled 'Swagatha'. "It's a character everyone can relate to. He is 30 now and parents want him to get married, but in the same caste. Unfortunately his girlfriend is not from the same caste. So how the love story moves forward and how both of them convince their parents is the story. It's a kind of a rom-com with action too," he said.

He has done south films and also TV shows in Mumbai. "Except for the language I feel everything is quite similar, not much of a difference in the working pattern. Since I know both the languages, it's quite comfortable for me in both the places," said the actor, who knows Kannada, English, Hindi and Telugu.

"I've been familiar with Kannada and Hindi since childhood, so working in these mediums has never been a problem for me," he added.

He shared that not only the south film industry, but all the sectors have been affected by the pandemic.

"Initially everyone faced a lot of difficulties, especially the daily wage workers. It was quite heartbreaking to see people losing their jobs and families, that's why I've always done my bit to help the needy and urge others to do so. Currently, the situation is not that great but now people have found alternatives and are learning to live with the pandemic. I just wish and pray this ends soon and life gets back to normal," he said.

Shooting during the pandemic was very scary for him, he said. "But the show must go on and after the lockdown, we started shooting with all the necessary precautions," he added.

For him, the biggest plus of being a part of the south industry is that he is doing what he loves to do.

"My passion is acting. The medium doesn't matter. I just want to do great work and give some fantastic performances and with the south industry, I'm very thankful and lucky with the kind of love, support and appreciation my fans shower on me. I would like to say I'm here to entertain and I'll do my best to keep my fans entertained," he said.

He loves watching and working in action flicks. "It gives me a different kick," he shared.

He even likes doing his own stunts. "It works for me better to do my own stunts as I'm the one playing the character, so I want to be in the character's shoes to justify my role, but obviously with all the necessary safety, precautions and guidance of the action director," he said.

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 9 (JANS) Kerala Police has registered a non-bailable case against Malayalam superstar Dileep, his brother Anoop, his brother-in-law Sooraj and other family members. The case was registered following a revelation by a close friend of the actor and Malayalam movie director Balachandra Kumar.

Dileep was arrested in 2017 and lodged in prison in a case related to a gang sexually assaulting a front-line heroine of South Indian movies and filming the scenes. Police later tracked the gang to Dileep and the actor was arrested in July 2017 and jailed. After two months in jail, he was released on bail and the trial in the case is on.

Balachandra Kumar who has recently fallen out with Dileep had told Police that the actor is in possession of a few clips of the female actor who was sexually assaulted.

On Sunday Deputy SP of Kerala Police Biju Paulose who was the investigating officer lodged a complaint with the Kerala police stating that Balachandra Kumar has deposed that Dileep while watching a YouTube video at his home of former Aluva Rural district police superintendent, A.V. George said that he would do away with the officer as well as other four officers who were responsible for arresting him.

He, according to the deposition of the director, had said that he would cut and remove the right hand of Superintendent of Police Sudarshan who had allegedly assaulted him during police custody. The director also said that one of the accused had told Dileep that for this he will have to spend Rs 1.5 crore for a gang of rowdies who can be engaged for the job.

The Malayalam Superstar, according to Balachandra Kumar also openly said that Kerala DGP, B. Sandhya, ADGP Sreejith, SPs A.V. George and S. Sudarshan, and Dy SP Byju Paulose are on the list of officers who would be attacked and done away with.

Police registered an FIR against Dileep and his relatives and investigations are on.

Rishika's donation was a part of a programme organised in Mysuru by the Hair and Beauty Association in the memory of the late Kannada superstar, Puneeth Rajkumar. As many as 70 donors participated in the programme, which Rishika had inaugurated.

The actress stated that she was very happy to donate her hair to cancer patients. "Like 'vidyadaan' (gift of education) and 'kanyadaan' (giving away one's daughter to the son-in-law), 'keshdaan' (hair donation) is also important," she said in her statement.

The actress added: "I have seen many of my friends and relatives being affected by cancer. The patients lose their hair after undergoing chemotherapy. That is very painful to watch. God has blessed us with good health and good hair, so I am donating."

After actress Rishika Raj inaugurated the programme and donated her hair, as many as 70 donors have come forward to donate their hair to cancer patients.

Mumbai, Dec 30 (SocialNews.XYZ) Punjabi crime film 'Shooter' starring Jayy Randhawa, based on the life and crimes of notorious gangster Sukha Kahlwan, will finally see the light of day two years after it was banned by then Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, citing its violent content.

The film is set to release in theatres on February 4.

Speaking on the occasion, producer K.V. Dhillon said, "I just want to thank God and the judiciary for allowing our movie to be shown in cinemas. I am happy for my whole team. We all waited for this day and finally after two years this day has come."

Talking about any changes made in the movie he reveals, "We have not made any changes in the movie but there are some additional surprises which you will come to know when you will watch this movie in theatres and yes there are few cuts which are unnoticeable (sic)."

Responding to the ex-Chief Minister's opinion of the film promoting violence, he said, "We respect their opinion, but only by watching the 3-minute trailer one should not pass the judgement. We should know the whole story before saying anything, I believe. We are here to produce and promote entertainment, nothing else. One should expect entertainment because we go to watch movies to entertain ourselves, nothing else."

"We are not showing any violence, movies are made from moments/things which happen in society, so we have not created any thing which has never happend or never shown. It's a normal action, you can go with your family to watch," he concluded.

"I was reluctant to do the role so he offered me another role as a journalist! I was quite enthusiastic about it. The dialogue writer of our film, Geeta Manek, came up with a unique idea to present me in the same scene of the police station where I was supposed to play the role of an inspector. It was an important scene. After the shot, the producer of our movie, Shatrughn Sinh Solanki said overwhelmingly, 'It will be a highlight of the movie.'"

"Millions of readers have read me, many of them have heard me. Now they are watching me in theaters and I am getting responses from them. It's a pleasant experience." he added.

The movie features Neha Mehta, Jayaka Yagnik, Marathi actress Mansi Prabhakar Joshi, Gujarati actress Bhavini Gandhi, Disha Sawla Upadhyay, Rachna Pakai, Purvi Desai, Satvi Choksi and Aanchal Shah.

Aashu Patel is also the creative producer of the film and he has co-written the screenplay with director Jayant Gilatar and debutant writer Divyakant Pandya. The film is produced by star cricketer Ravindra Jadeja's brother-in-law and Rivaba Jadeja's brother Shatrughann Singh Solanki.

"In times of Corona Pandemic,we should focus on helping Gas Victims' not doing agitations," tweeted Pawan Kalyan.

In another tweet, he wrote: "Certain political parties are doing agitations about 'LG polymers gas leak' in Visakhapatnam and it will only increase the numbers covid-19 patients and situation might go out of hand."

The Jana Sena Party president also urged his party members, the Janasainiks not to take part in such agitations.

"I request all Janasainiks & JSP leaders not to be part of such agitations, as this is not the right time for such agitations. Kindly, focus on helping victims families. Let's wait, till the final reports of state and central governments on gas leak."

Two days after gas leak at LG Polymers claimed 12 lives and affected hundreds of others, people of RR Venkatapuram village in Visakhapatnam staged a protest on Saturday with three dead bodies at the chemical plant, demanding justice.

They voiced apprehensions over the long-term impact of styrene leaked from the plant on the environment and on their health.

The villagers also demanded that a high-power committee constituted by the government probe the gas leak, and hold talks with people of the five villages surrounding the plant, and not the company's management.

At least 10 casualties have been reported at the time of publishing, while hundreds were rushed for treatment to hospitals after complaining of breathing difficulties and burning sensation in the eyes.

Reacting to the shocking news, Mahesh Babu tweeted: "Heartwrenching to hear the news of #VizagGasLeak, more so during these challenging times... Heartfelt condolences and strength to the bereaved families in this hour of need. Wishing a speedy recovery to those affected. My prayers for you... Stay safe VIZAG."

Allu Arjun too prayed for the safety and well being of the victims. "It's really heart breaking to see Vizag, which one of the most special places in my life, in such a state. I am deeply saddened by this horrific accident. Condolences to families who have lost their lives and hoping for a speedy recovery for the rest," he wrote.

Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured, "Jersey" actor Nani took to social media and wrote: This is heartbreaking .. it's just getting more and more worse .. helpless and all we are left to do is pray."

Filmmaker SS Rajamouli, who is known for helming the "Bahubali" franchise, is extremely disturbed by the visuals from the Vizag Gas Leak.

"Praying for the recovery of those admitted to the hospital. Heartfelt condolences to those who lost their near and dear ones," Rajmouli added.

"Arjun Reddy" star Vijay Deverakonda too tweeted about the tragic incident.

He said: "Vizag, we all are thinking and praying for you."

Actress Pranitha Subhash found the news "heart wrenching".

"VizagGasLeak news is just heart wrenching Persevering face.. My prayers with the families of the bereaved.. #PrayForVizag 2020 - I'm just speechless," Pranita tweeted.

Actor Ram Charan is also heartbroken. " Heart breaking to see the visuals of #VizagGasLeak. My heartfelt condolences to the families of the people who are no more. I hope all necessary measures are taken to make sure the affected people recover at the earliest. My thoughts and prayers with the people of Vizag," he grieved.

Kochi, May 6 (SocialNews.XYZ) Mohanlal took to social media on Wednesday to share a sketch of fellow Malayalam veteran actor Mammootty and his wife Sulfath to wish them on their marriage anniversary.

"Happy wedding anniversary dear Ichakka and baabhi @mammukka," Mohanlal captioned it.

Mammootty replied saying: "Thank you dear Lal."

Their fans also showered wedding anniversary wishes on the couple, who got married in 1979. Many even posted some love-up photos of the couple, who have a daughter, Surumi, and a son, actor Dulquer Salmaan.

Mammootty and Mohanlal are the two most respected names in Malayalam cinema, and also counted among India's greatest actors ever. The two have acted in over 50 films together.

Bangalore, May 6 (SocialNews.XYZ) Venkat Bharadwaj, whose film "Kempirve" had won in the Best Screenplay category at the Karnataka State Film Award in 2017, has gone ahead and shot a full-length feature film during the lockdown.

Titled "The Painter", the Kannada film was shot in 10 days, across five different locations in Chennai, Tumkur, Bangalore, Kankapura and Hebbal. The shooting was done separately in location, and then the filmed footage was put together on the editing table to create the entire movie.

Work on the script began in early April, and shooting the film wasn't simple. Owing to lockdown, no one could travel. Sourcing equipment was a problem, too. The director and his crew had to make do with available lights, ropes, bamboo sticks and wires. The script and dialogue had to be shared with artistes and technicians who shot from their respective locations.

''The story evolves with the current situation of lockdown, and how people act on various issues -- selfishness, extortion, and exploitation. There is murder, crime, and thrilling content in this movie. I don't want to reveal the entire story. People should enjoy the thrilling content after the release of this feature film. The shooting style being cinematic, there could be no compromise on quality and technicality of production,'' said Venkat Bharadwaj.

The director explains that transferring raw footage filmed at one particular location to another, using home Internet data, was a big challenge. "On an average, around 70 GB data was being transferred daily between sources," he pointed out, explaining that due to the heavy footage quality, it was an uphill task transferring filmed data online.

He added: ''Around 17 technicians and artistes have worked for this project, including makeup man, light boy, costume and art people. The shooting was fun as everyone was involved in all aspects. To give an example, when there were five artistes shooting for a scene, and all were supposed to be in the frame, four of them would take position while the last person rolled the camera and sound and then walked into the frame. Then the scene was shot. It was a great challenge and equally fun executing this project.''

The one hour and 30-minute film is due to release in the end of May.

While she made her digital debut with the web series "The Family Man" last year, the film "Ateet" is her second outing in the OTT space.

"I shot 'Ateet' a little before the shooting of 'The Family Man' started. So, technically this was my first film in Hindi language and, being an actress in the South, it was quite obvious for me to have the support of co-actors to perform well. It is interesting that both Rajeev and Sanjay are very different in their style of acting. So it is interesting for me to work with them," Priyamani told IANS.

"Manoj sir, on the other hand, improvises a lot and comes up with something that creates magic. So as a co-actor if I am not alert, I might just miss out on the moment! So yes, when you work with Manoj sir, you are a student. I am lucky to have worked with these actors who are very sensible and skilled," she added.

"Pokiri", which had released on April 28, 2006, is said to be the first film that crossed Rs 40 crore share in the south film industry.

In the Puri Jagannadh directorial, Mahesh played Krishna, a police officer who disguises himself as a thug and joins the mafia to wipe out the underworld. The film also starred actress Ileana D'Cruz.

The Telugu film was such a big hit that it was remade in Tamil as "Pokkiri" (2007), in Kannada as "Porki" (2010) and in Hindi as "Wanted" that brought Salman Khan back to the hit machine category.

The "Baahubali" franchise turned Telugu actor Prabhas into a superstar overnight. Calling "Baahubali 2: The Conclusion" the "biggest film" of his life, Prabhas shared a photo from the sets of the film on Instagram.

Mumbai, April 28 (SocialNews.XYZ) Actress Celina Jaitly made her comeback with Ram Kamal Mukherjee's digital short film "Season's Greetings: A Tribute To Rituparno Ghosh". She says that though she missed out on a chance to work with the iconic Bengali filmmaker, she feels special having got a chance to work in the short film.

Asked if she followed the work of Rituporno, Celina told IANS: "Once, Rituda has called me and wanted to cast me in a project. He did not know I was pregnant with my first set of twins at that time, and it didn't work out. I spoke to him last when his father passed away. It was an intimate conversation. Little did I know he will be leaving for his heavenly abode soon. His last words to me were that I must have the babies safely and that he would like me to stay at the Tolly club whenever we went ahead with a project after the delivery."

She added: "Rituda calling me for a project was beyond my dreams. I had admired him so much that I couldn't believe my ears. Unfortunately, things were not meant to be, until Ram (Kamal Mukherjee) came along with this project. I had goosebumps it's as if things were working from the beyond. I hope Rituda will be happy and satisfied with our subtle tribute. I always pray that he has finally found the acceptance and place of no judgement."

According to the actress, she was a fan of the late National award-winning filmmaker, and his 1997 release "Dahan" is one of her favourite films of Rituparno Ghosh.

"I was in school when 'Dahan' released. I remember being mesmerised with the film and Romita, the character played by Rituparna Sengupta. Little did I know I would play a character named after her years later in a film which is, unfortunately, a posthumous tribute to the legend Rituparno Ghosh," recalled Celina.

Ram Kamal Mukherjee's short film also features Shree Ghatak, Lillette Dubey, and Azhar Khan.

Celina's last released film was "Will You Marry Me?" in 2012. The reason she did "Season's Greetings", she says, is because it was her mother's last wish that she should make a comeback and show people her true worth as an actress.

"It was one of her last wishes that I return to cinema and show people my true talent. She never gave up on me. When our director Ram Kamal Mukherjee narrated the story in Dubai I knew this movie is a calling from beyond. A calling of four very important people in my life who are no more. Ritu Da, My late parents, a mother-figure trans person who is no more. I am very thankful to Ram for making my mother's wish come true," said the actress.

"Season's Greetings" is streaming on ZEE5.

DULQUER SALMAAN TICKS OFF TAMIL FANS

To begin with, at the wrong end of social media fire right now is Dulquer Salmaan. "Varane Avashyamund", his self-produced Malayalam starrer, may have won him praise as an actor, but he is drawing negative response from Tamil viewers because of a 'Prabhakaran joke', which was misconstrued as a dig at the late Tamil leader Velupillai Prabhakaran. A scene in the film has actor Suresh Gopi calling a dog 'Prabhakara', which is a reference to a popular dialogue from the Malayalam movie "Pattanapravesham" (1988).

Since the joke was misunderstood, many social media users began abusing Dulquer Salmaan and director Anoop Sathyan for being insensitive towards Tamil sentiments and demanded an apology. Dulquer subsequently sought apology and explained the reference. He also said that abusing his parents and family is not okay.

MALAVIKA MOHANAN CALLS OUT SEXIST TWEET, THEN DELETES IT

Another star who has faced public ire lately is Malavika Mohanan. "Master" actor, Malavika called out a sexist tweet on Sunday. The image feature cartoon versions of the "Master" movie crew, where the woman in question (Malavika) is seen in the kitchen, while the men including Vijay, Vijay Sethupathi seem to be relaxing.

She tweeted: "The task of a woman even in a hypothetical 'movie house' is to cook? When will gender roles die? Sigh."

The tweet was followed by a slew of hate message from fans of superstar Vijay telling her that she has "crossed the limit". Singer and me-too movement activist Chinmayi expressed solidarity with the actor and tweeted: "I have been at the receiving end of hate just for saying "I like xyz film", nothing else. From that day on, I stopped saying which film I like." She tweeted: "A professional actor questions a fan-made illustration for portraying HER 'role' in a way SHE didn't like. She gets bullied, abused and harassed into deleting her tweet."

JYOTHIKA'S VIEWS ON HOSPITALS AND TEMPLES DRAWS FLAK

A few days ago, a video of Jyothika's speech from an award show received flak from religious groups. In the video Jyothika said that while she was shooting for the film "Raatchasi", she visited a very famous temple in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu during the shooting. She spoke highly of the temple and said it looked like a palace. Next day, when she was shooting for a scene in a hospital in the same city, she noticed how badly maintained it was. She went on to request people to donate to hospitals, the same way they donate to temples, as hospitals are more important for people to survive. Her view, however, invited hate messages on social media. Religious groups said that she has hurt sentiments and asked her to apologise. Although she hasn't given an official statement, she has received support from fans who said nothing is wrong in what she said.

While he had earlier planned to help 2000 families, Vijay now hopes to help over 4000 families.

The "Arjun Reddy" star took to Twitter, where he shared a spreadsheet showing the amount of donation that has come in, and how many households have so far been helped.

Alongside the spreadsheet, the actor also penned an emotional thank you note.

"Today what I saw was magical. Mass care, Mass love and Mass generosity. Each one of you this miss class fund and its success belongs to you. I promise I will not let you down, we will reach out to each and everyone who reaches out to us and we shall all enjoy the happy smiles that shine back at us.

"In a day you made 25 lakhs into 40+ lakhs. Together we have now reset our goal of 2000+ families to 4000+ families. Today our team was 4, tomorrow we make it 34, so we can reach more people faster."

"Below is an update of day 1 broad numbers. Everyday 9 PM we will share with you a sautes update, so we can witness impact of what we all are together doing. #TDF #MCF. Note- Households funded today was effected by our training session and 11 AM-12 Noon closure of stores. We will see a jump in families reached from tomorrow on."

Vijay also shared a tweet from a person, who donated Rs 1 lakh to The Deverakonda Foundation.

The actor replied saying: "Darling, 100+ Families will be reached with your support to #MCF. Bigg hugg"

On Sunday, Vijay took to the social media to make two important announcements.

He wrote: "None of us were prepared for this. But we are fighters. We shall survive this and come out of it strong. This thing hit me hard as well, but I am here now. I am here with my incredible team that never says no to a fight and we are happy to announce a Rs 1.30 cr fund to help as many as we can. All we need is some love, kindness and support and I am sending you all, my love and strength."

He even posted an 11-minute video clip in which the actor assured that he will provide employment opportunities and take care of the immediate requirements such as groceries and medicine through his foundation.

He also added that he will take care of the immediate needs of more than 2,000 families.

"The film is gangster drama based in an action backdrop. I'm playing the lead and have done two item numbers in this film. The first song is 'Kummu kummu nene neeku zyummu' and the next song is 'Billi choosa'. My experience was really amazing working with all of them," said Archana.

The actress said it was great sharing screen space with Kabir Duhan Singh, Tanish and Muskan in the film directed by Jhony, who had earlier called the shots on the horror thriller "Anthaku Minchi".

"Altogether it was great tuning and chemistry . About the director, Johnny sir is very creative and supportive. It is my first Tamil film and I really enjoyed working!" he said.

She said she had never done an item number before.

"It was an amazing experience. I never did item songs and worked for the Telugu industry before and it's for the first time. It was a challenging role because language is very different. As I'm very hardworking I have done lots of rehearsals before shooting. Kapil sir was my Choreographer who supported me a lot," she said.

The music is given by Sunil Kashyap. The motion poster of the movie has been released.

Chennai, April 25 (SocialNews.XYZ) Tamil Nadu Theatre And Multiplex Owners Association have threatened to ban films starring superstar Suriya, as well as the films produced by his production company 2D films. The decision comes after the news that the film "Pon Magal Vandhal", produced by Suriya and starring his wife Jyothika, will be released directly on a popular OTT platform, bypassing traditional theatrical release.

Suriya's decision to go directly digital with his new production was made public through a tweet by the social media page, Let's OTT Global: "Premier Alert Public address loudspeaker : First Tamil feature film to get a Direct OTT release, #PonMagalVandhal (Tamil) streaming rights bagged by @PrimeVideoIN. Streaming from 1st week of May."

Following this, the theatre owners association general secretary Panneerselvam released a video stating the decision not to release Suriya's films in theatres. He said that movies that are made for theatres should release in theatres first, and not on OTT platforms. He further that if this decision is not revoked, there would be a ban on releasing films starring Suriya.

The decision, if brought to effect, could impact Suriya's upcoming film "Soorarai Pottru".

Although there has been no official announcement to the effect, a source in the film trade said, about Suriya's decision to release the modest-budgeted "Pon Magal Vandhal" on OTT: "Given the scenario, the chance of a small-budget film succeeding when theatres reopen is tricky. If producers are taking a decision that keeps them financially safe, then releasing the film on a streaming platform would work."

For Jyothika, this isn't the only controversy she has faced lately. A few days ago, a video of Jyothika's speech at an awards show received flak from religious groups.

In the video, Jyothika says while she was shooting for the film "Raatchasi", she visited a famous temple in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. She spoke highly about the temple, saying it looked like a palace. Next day, when she was shooting in a hospital in the same city, she noticed how badly maintained it was. She went on to request people to donate to hospitals the same way they donate to temples, as hospitals are more important for people to survive.

Ra Saravanan, who is directing her upcoming film that also stars Sasikumar, said that during her shoot in Thanjavur, Jyothika saw women in unhygienic maternity wards in the hospital, which affected her. The filmmaker added that the intention of Jyothika's comment wasn't to hurt anybody.

Suriya and Jyothika haven't released an official statement yet.

Talking about it, Chiranjeevi said: "I owe everything to my fans and audiences. The possibility of directly interacting with them and sharing my thoughts through a platform like Twitter has often crossed my mind. But during these unprecedented times, I felt an urgent need to communicate directly with my fans and fellow Indians and this led me to join the platform in March, on the Telugu New year's day and the first day of the nationwide lockdown."

"During COVID-19, it has become more important than ever before to stay connected so that we can get through this pandemic together. Twitter is doing a great job of helping people do that," he added.

From Chiranjeevi, Mahesh Babu, Ram Charan to Rajinikanth, prominent South Indian celebrities are using Twitter to engage with fans and encourage them to stay home and be safe. Actors are also making videos at home with song lyrics that urge people to isolate and stay safe amidst the COVID-19 crisis.

Mahesh made his 'stay home, stay safe' appeal to fans by sharing a video of his daughter in which she talks about the precautionary measures that are necessary to fight coronavirus and flatten the curve.

Chiranjeevi's son Ram Charan re-joined Twitter on his own birthday. As a birthday gift, the star asked his fans to stay indoors for their own safety. Actress Tamannaah Bhatia shared a musical message and tweeted a Tamil coronavirus awareness song titled "Unnai kaakum".

Mumbai, April 22 (SocialNews.XYZ) Actress Tamannaah Bhatia says "today we are like caged animals", and says that the universe has given us a time to reflect on the fact.

"Lockdown is a need of the hour at this point of time and cases will multiply if we don't adhere to social distancing rules and limit outdoor activities until an effective medical solution is derived," Tamannaah said.

"This unprecedented crisis has taken so many innocent lives and the economy is majorly hit especially the small businesses. Maybe the universe is teaching us a lesson for all the harm we have caused nature and animals," she added.

Tamannaah along with Letsallhelp.Org has extended help to migrant workers in Mumbai. They have been successful in mobilising over 50 tonnes of food products and have catered to the needs of over 10,000 people across the slums, shelters and old age homes across Mumbai.

The actress feels "today we are like caged animals and the universe has given us a time to reflect on this".

"The team at Letsallhelp.org and I have taken a pledge that no one goes to sleep without food during the lockdown and we are utilising this time to help the migrant workers with basic utilities. Please start the practice of donation in any form as you deem fit until the situation gets under control. Don't just watch out for yourself, watch out for everyone else's well-being too," she added.
