The Goj Bota design is an ancient pattern from Assam, featuring intricate floral and geometric shapes that date back to the time of the Ahom Dynasty when muga silk was a luxury and still is considered so.

This design symbolises the rich cultural and natural beauty of Assam.

On the other hand, the Gum Kharu motif is a traditional symbol of prosperity and protection deeply rooted in Assamese culture.

The design skillfully incorporated the classic Goj Bota and Gum Kharu motif into this muga silk mekhela sador, utilising five different threads and colours to create intricate patterns with the blend of Eri, cotton, and Guna yarn showcasing the artistry and craftsmanship of Assam's handloom industry.

Chennai, May 18 (SocialNews.XYZ) Actress Sriya Reddy is overwhelmed by the response the political web series ‘Thalamai Seyalagam’ is receiving, especially for her role in the show as the right hand of the Chief Minister.

In an exclusive interview with IANS, the ‘Salaar’ actress said she always believes in roles where she can put her heart and soul, especially the complex characters.

Excerpts from the interview:

IANS: You delivered another strong performance in 'Thalamai Seyalagam'. What have you to say about it?

Sriya: I am so overwhelmed by the response which the 'Thalamai Seyalagam' has received. Whenever any project is under the able hands of Vasanthabalan sir it is bound to receive a good response. There are very few directors where you just don’t have to do much. You have to come, stand and let your eyes do the talking. This is how it was with Vasanthabalan sir.

IANS: How is the public response to your character in 'Thalamai Seyalagam'?

Sriya: The audience response has been a mixed one. In terms of my performance, they say where have you been and why don’t you do more projects. The kind of reviews that are coming in are phenomenal. I am so grateful and overwhelmed. A lot of people have told me that I resemble Smita Patil which is the biggest compliment because she has been somebody I have always looked upto and I am so happy at the positive reviews.

IANS: You have often portrayed strong characters on screen, how do you select your roles?

Sriya: I always believe in a role where I can put my heart and soul and where the story talks to me. I have always believed that it has to be complex and must have a lot of layers because a very linear character gets a little boring. So the more complex and more layered it is the more excited I get.

IANS: How do you prepare for your roles?

Sriya: The way I prepare for my roles is quite extensive. For Saalar, I used to wake up at 3 in the morning, learning my dialogue and workouts were very very important to get ready for the particular role. I also watched Heath Ledger's 'Joker' over and over again. I took a lot of points from his performance. Even for this web series, there is a certain amount of work that went into it. I read the script ten to fifteen times, the entire script. I prepared for my dialogues almost six months ahead of the shooting. I was fully prepared. The dialogues were just mere words that were naturally coming to me. I was fully confident and prepared for the shoot.

IANS: When is Salaar 2 expected?

Sriya: I really don’t know. The only man who can answer that question is Prashanth Neel. But whenever it comes, it will be a big bang with real drama and story.

IANS: Which is your next project? Any update on OG?

Sriya: OG will be my next release in Telugu. I am excited about this project. I think it is a mix of everything which I want in a character. Also, I have worked with such amazing people for this project. The remaining part of the movie will be shot in the next few months. I think that the movie will be released in the next five to six months or earlier than that.

Kochi, May 17 (SocialNews.XYZ) The producers of the hit Malayalam film ‘Manjummel Boys’ heaved a sigh of relief on Friday after the Kerala High Court put a stay on criminal proceedings against them in a cheating case.

The three producers of the film directed by Chidambaram S. Poduval -- Babu Shahir, Soubin Shahir, and Shawn Antony -- are accused in a case registered at the Maradu police station near here for various offences, including criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, cheating, and forgery.

The order was passed on a petition moved by Babu Shahir, who is one of the three partners in Parava Films LLP.

In November last year, these three producers entered into an investment agreement with a person named Siraj Hameed, who agreed to invest Rs 7 crore for the production of the film for a 40 per cent share of the net profit.

After the film became a hit, Hameed alleged that the producers failed to keep their word as he approached a commercial court, seeking action against the producers. The court issued an ex-parte order attaching the accounts of Parava Films.

After this, Hameed filed a criminal complaint alleging that the producers cheated also him.

However, after hearing the arguments on Friday, the Kerala High Court stayed the criminal proceedings against the producer trio.

The counsel appearing for petitioner Babu Shahir pointed out that the full revenues and expenses for the film haven't been settled yet, as it has only been two months since its release. Moreover, according to their agreement, Hameed would receive his share of profit only after all financial matters were settled.

It was also pointed out that Shahir has already paid Rs 50 lakh to Hameed and was ready to pay the due amount, but is unable to do so as their accounts were attached due to the earlier order passed by the commercial court.

Friday saw the rollout of a fresh new promo of the 'Fear Song', composed by Anirudh Ravichander. May 19, incidentally, is the eve of NTR Jr's birthday. The Koratala Siva film is to hit theatres on the Dussehra weekend, that is, October 10, 2024.

The song's promo shows Tollywood's Man of the Masses, NTR Jr, heading towards a seashore ahead of a little flotilla of boats and then walking along the coastline.

The Gothic promo also has Ravichander joining the actor singing 'All Hail The Tiger'. It ends with a single shot of the title 'Fear Song' emblazoned in red. The promo does manage to tease the interest of the viewers in NTR Jr's screen avatar of 'Lord of Fear'.

Some time back, along with the song announcement, a new poster featuring NTR Jr's hand-dripping blood had been released on social media by the makers.

"Whether engaging in heartfelt conversations between takes or sharing light-hearted moments of laughter, Rakhee di's genuine warmth and approachability endeared her to the entire cast and crew, who were in tears on the last day of her shoot... She has given us all memories of a lifetime."

By choosing to forgo the isolation of a make-up van, Rakhee fostered an environment where everyone felt connected.

The veteran actress' humility and camaraderie served as an example of her simplicity and dedication to work.

The film, produced by Windows Productions, is slated to release in theatres on June 21.

Kochi, May 15 (SocialNews.XYZ) Leading Malayalam film producer Johny Sagarika was detained at the immigration counter of the Kochi airport while en route Dubai, before being handed over to the Kovai police on Wednesday.

Sagarika was taken into custody after a resident of Kovai named Dwarak Udaykumar lodged a complaint with the police accusing the former of deceiving him of Rs 2.75 crore under the guise of producing a film.

After Sagarika failed to return the money despite reminders, Udaykumar approached the Kovai police with the complaint.

Despite repeated summonses from the Kovai police, Sagarika failed to appear before them, and as a result, all the airports in the region were alerted to ensure that the producer didn't leave the country.

When Sagarika reached the airport on Wednesday, he was stopped by the immigration officials who informed the Kovai police.

Some of the popular films produced by Sagarika include 'Thaandavam', 'Bodyguard', 'Chakram', 'Muppathu Vellikkaasu', and 'Orkut Oru Ormmakkoottu', among others.

Mumbai, May 14 (SocialNews.XYZ) Bengali actor-director Soumyajit Majumdar is heading to the Cannes Film Market with his film ‘Joyguru’. The film showcases the life of the Baul folk singer Parvathy Baul. Parvathy has performed in more than 40 countries.

The film also marks an international collaboration with Indo-USA-UK-France co-production. It is currently in the final stages of scripting.

Baul, which is recognised by UNESCO as the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, is an old spiritual tradition of song and dance (Bhakti Yogic parampara) originating from undivided Bengal. It has inspired artists like Rabindranath Tagore, Bob Dylan and Allen Ginsberg.

Talking about the film, Soumyajit Majumder said; "This is not only a film, this is my prayer. It’s been almost two years since I have been researching for this film. Baul is a global phenomenon, however, in India Baul is misrepresented and often identified only as folk music. Parvathy ji's life is testimony to the fact that the spiritual power of Baul can transform lives. The film is based on her life journey but this won't be a biopic.”

The principal photography on the film will begin in 2025 with cinematographer Ravi Verman capturing the story through his lens.

Parvathy shared: “For over a year Soumyajit has done a lot of hard work in researching and preparing for this story and I appreciate his commitment and sincerity for this purpose. It's not an endeavour to tell the story about yet another individual's life. Right from the start, the goal is clear to serve this beautiful, age-old, timeless spiritual tradition of Baul. It ought to be essentially seva (selfless service) offering to all the Baul masters and the tradition. It is also the most appropriate time to bring Baul wisdom to the wider audience via this medium for I have conviction in the central message of this path that has profound healing and transformational touch.”

The film is produced by California-based producers Aniruddha and Aparna Dasgupta (Adited Motion Pictures - USA/India) along with Soumyajit Majumdar’s LOK Arts Collective (India/UK). It is co-produced by Munsur Ali (Chairman - London City Corporation Culture and Heritage, Founder-Director Moringa Studios) and Paris-based Chayan Sarkar ( Ambassador of the city of Toulouse, France).

As the story goes, he gouged out an eye as an offering to a lingam in his bid to meet the Lord in person. He was about to sacrifice his second eye when Shiva appeared in front of him and blessed him. Kannappa continues to be worshipped as one of the 63 Shaivite saints known as the Nayanars.

She died on the spot in a horrific car crash near Mehbooba Nagar in Andhra Pradesh.

The car lost control and hit the divider. Later, the bus coming from Hyderabad to Vanaparthi collided with the right side of the car. Pavitra was seriously injured in the accident and died on the spot.

The accident occurred while returning to Hanakere in Mandya district of Karnataka. As per media reports, Pavithra’s cousin Apeksha, driver Srikanth and actor Chandrakanth were seriously injured in the incident.

The accident has shocked the entertainment industry. Further details on the case are awaited from the police.

Actor Sameeip Acharyaa mourned the actress’s demise as he took to social media to express his sorrow. He wrote, “Woke up to the news that you are no more. It's unbelievable. My first on-screen mother, you will always be the special one.”

He added: “I have grown my hair and beard for a year for this movie. The secrecy has to be maintained during the shoot. The people should not lose expectation. The film will be shot entirely in the coastal Karnataka region.”

Rishab Shetty, clad in the traditional white shirt and dhoti, polled his vote at polling booth number 135 located at Karadi government school, where he studied during his childhood.

The actor has adopted the school and has been developing it for a few years. “The playground is being built for the school children. The construction work will be completed after the election,” the actor said.

On Tuesday, the filmmaker spoke with the media at a multiplex chain Kondapur during a press event organised for the series.

The director told the media that the series is not a sequel or a prequel but, it's an offshoot, and it unfolds right in the middle of the film's story.

"The West has a very different view of successful films that go onto become a brand. Once a film becomes a brand in the West, it trickles down into multiple media of books, games and animation."

He further mentioned: "Here in India, we don't have that, I wanted to change that so we tried different things in terms of a pre-story, the character arcs and the post-story. We tried games as well but the idea of an animated series resonated strongly with us. So, we decided to go forward with the concept."

Reddy who was recently seen in the commercial success of Salaar while delivering a power-packed performance as Radha Rama, is now gearing up for the release of her next political drama, ‘Thalaimai Seyalgam’.

Sriya Reddy was hugely impressed by the work of the director and said: “After all the commercial films that I have done, to go back to my roots to go back to where I belonged films like ‘Veyil’ and ‘Kanchivaram’ actually set a tone for me back in the day.”

“We kept this particular show very real and extremely natural. Getting into the skin of the character is a director’s greatest asset so he allowed each character to give them the time and space to get into the character. He just wanted everything as real as possible.”

Sriya Reddy added, “Until he got what he wanted, he would just say, “Can we try this? Can we try that?” and never gave up.”

The actress said that it’s nice to go back to where one belongs.

‘Thalamai Seyalgam’ attempts to present the story of a woman's quest for power leading to a gripping tale of ambition, betrayal, and redemption and portrays the politics of Tamil Nadu.

Tamil actor Raadhika Sarathkumar of Radaan Media Works is producing the series which will premiere in ZEE5 from May 17.

Kishore, Sriya Reddy, Aditya Menon and Bharath are in the main roles.

New Delhi, April 25 (SocialNews.XYZ) Bengali superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee has dedicated over three decades to the world of acting, yet he still feels the pressure to deliver.

Even after working in over 300 movies, the actor admits to feeling jittery with the release of a new film, as it feels like his first.

Prosenjit, who is lovingly called Bumba Da by his fans, began his journey as a child actor with Hrishikesh Mukherjee's 'Chotto Jigyasa'. His breakthrough came in 1987 with Sujit Guha’s 'Amar Sangi', after which the spotlight never left him.

Despite the challenges he has faced in cinema, he still loves every bit of it.

When asked about feeling pressure to deliver a hit film, considering his past successes, Prosenjit told IANS: "Yes. It is always pressure to do any kind of film, whether it is a hit or a critically acclaimed one. But for any kind of film, when it gets released, that's one pressure."

"I always believe any film getting released, even after the 348-349 films that I have done, it is like my first film getting released."

"So, I am always under pressure. People like us, who have been in the cinema industry for so long, cannot say that we are very particular... You can't say that, but I try to do the right things as much as possible,” added the actor.

Prosenjit asserted that while the pressure exists, "but to find out the right story or director, script, what I know my audiences are going to love it and it should somewhere be mentioned by the critics or the people who understand cinema… I try to cater to both."

He shared: "So, I spent 18 hours a day just searching, not working, just finding out what I should do and what I shouldn’t do."

Is he happy with his run in cinema, or would he do it any other way?

"The journey unfolds as it happens. Nobody can calculate in any profession," said the actor, who has worked in 'Chokher Bali', 'Shob Charitro Kalponik', 'Autograph', 'Moner Manush', and 'Jaatishwar', among many others.

He said: "First of all, what I believe is that you have to start loving the profession… I always believed, when I was a total hardcore, mainstream actor, which I am till today, you have to start loving the work you are doing and you have to start understanding the audience."

The 61-year-old star, who has produced TV shows such as 'Gaaner Oparey', among others, has seen the audience evolve.

"I have witnessed changes in the audience. In many families, the mother, daughter, and granddaughter are my fans. When they watched my films, the language of cinema and expression were different, and now for the younger generation, cinema has changed," he said.

The journey has been tough, but only in terms of catering to what his fans want to watch.

"For me, it has always been a tough journey, but I have thoroughly enjoyed it because I love my work and I love my audience. I always respect my audience. That is the main thing I have maintained over the years,” said the actor, whose film 'Shesh Pata' is streaming on Zee5 Global.

'Shesh Pata' is directed by Atanu Ghosh and also stars Gargi Roychowdhury, Vikram Chatterjee, and Rayati Bhattacharya.

Kolkata, April 24 (SocialNews.XYZ) Swami Gautamananda on Wednesday took over as the 17th President of the Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, founded by Swami Vivekananda and headquartered at Belur in West Bengal's Howrah district.

Swami Gautamananda succeeds his predecessor and the 16th President of the Mission, Swami Smaranananda, who passed away on March 26 in Kolkata aged 95.

Soon after the demise of Swami Smaranananda, the name of Swami Gautamananda was named the acting President.

On Wednesday, after a meeting of the trustee board and the governing body of the organisation, Swami Gautamananda was declared the 17th President of the Ramakrishna Mission.

Swami Gautamananda is originally a resident of Tamil Nadu, though he was brought up mainly in Karnataka. He joined the order as a monk at the New Delhi unit of Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission.

Later, he travelled throughout the country serving the countrymen following the lessons of 'human service' always propagated by Swami Vivekananda.

Before taking over as the acting President, he handled the daily affairs of the Chennai unit of Ramakrishna Mission as the senior-most trustee and Vice President.

Swami Gautamananda, who is in his late eighties, has won the hearts of millions of devotees with his inspirational speeches.

Bengaluru, April 16 (SocialNews.XYZ) Veteran Kannada actor, director and producer Dwarakish known as ‘Charlie Chaplin’ and the first showman of the Kannada film industry passed away on Tuesday at his residence in Bengaluru.

Dwarakish (81) was suffering from old-age-related ailments. Family sources said that he woke up in the morning and had coffee. After having coffee he went to sleep again and never woke up. It is suspected that he suffered a heart attack.

Dwarakish hailed from Mysuru city. He started his career with small roles and established himself as a comedian. His first movie was ‘Veera Sankalpa’. He went on to become a co-producer and soon established his production company and delivered big hits such as ‘Mayor Muthanna’ and others.

Dwarakish also delivered hits as a director. ‘Nee bareda kadambari’, ‘Dance Raja Dance’, ‘Shruthi’, ‘Rayaru Bandaru Mavana Manege’ and others.

He was fondly addressed as ‘Kulla’ (shorty) and known for his risk-taking nature. Dwarakish was the first producer to bring legendary singer Kishore Kumar to the Kannada film industry. He turned his great disadvantage of being short stature into a trump card.

He produced the first Kannada movie ‘Singaporenalli Rajakulla’ to be shot outside India. ‘Africaldalli Sheela’, shot in forest ranges in Africa, was released in other languages. He produced the Hindi movie ‘Gangva’ starring superstar Rajnikanth and Shabana Azmi.

When everyone wrote him off, Dwarakish came back with ‘Apthamitra’ movie which created history in terms of collections.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressing his condolences stated: “I am saddened by the death of Dwarakish. The Kannada film industry has suffered a setback by his death.”

"It's not easy for someone like me, who is Bengali, to pick up different dialects and regional aspects, but I'm proud of the hard work I've put in. The feedback from viewers, saying that I look the most authentic as a Rajasthani character on the show, makes it all worth it. Overall, it's been a fun and challenging process, and I'm grateful for the trust the industry has placed in me," she said, who is known for her work in 'Kumkum', 'Ghar Ek Sapnaa', 'Meri Maa' and others.

Sayantani had earlier played a Sardarni in the show 'Tera Yaar Hoon Main', and she says she is lucky to have played such diverse roles in her career.

"Professionally, it's been a challenging but rewarding experience, especially as I've had the opportunity to play diverse roles in recent years. From portraying a Sardarni in 'Tera Yaar Hoon Main' to now being a Rajasthani character, it's been a journey of learning and growth,” she added.
