Bengaluru, June 12 (SocialNews.XYZ) A suspected terrorist and accused in the Bengaluru's 2008 Madiwala bomb blast case died on Friday due to hart attack before the court could pronounce its judgment in the long-pending case.

It can be noted that the 2008 Bengaluru serial bomb blasts were a series of seven coordinated low-intensity improvised explosive device explosions that struck the city, including a fatal blast at the Madiwala police checkpost bus stand on Hosur Road.

The attacks tragically killed two people -- including a woman at the Madiwala bus shelter -- and injured several others.

The deceased, suspected terrorist 60-year-old Abdul Khader, was lodged in judicial custody at Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in Bengaluru since 2010 in connection with the blast case.

According to prison authorities, Khader's health suddenly deteriorated on Friday, following which he was being rushed to the Jayadeva Hospital for treatment.

However, he reportedly suffered a heart attack on the way to the hospital and died before medical assistance could be provided.

Prison officials said Khader had complained of health issues, prompting authorities to immediately shift him to the hospital.

After his death, the body was sent to Victoria Hospital for post-mortem examination. His family members have been informed about the incident.

The trial against Khader was in its final stages, and the court was expected to pronounce its verdict in the case within the next few days. However, the accused passed away before the court judgment could be delivered.

A native of Virajpet in Madikeri district, Abdul Khader was facing charges in connection with the 2008 serial bomb blast case in Bengaluru. He had been arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) as part of the investigation into the explosions.

The Madiwala blast was among a series of explosions that rocked Bengaluru in 2008, triggering extensive investigations by security agencies.

On July 25, 2008, multiple crude timer devices exploded within a 30-minute window. One of the primary sites was the Madiwala checkpost, and the injured were treated at the nearby St. John's Hospital.

Investigators determined the bombings were orchestrated allegedly by the banned extremist outfit SIMI (Students Islamic Movement of India) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

The Karnataka Police and the NIA registered multiple FIRs and arrested dozens of suspects over the years.

Several key individuals, including alleged handlers in Pakistan, were identified.

New Delhi, June 11 (SocialNews.XYZ) Pro-Khalistan organisations continue to exploit the events of June 1984 to provoke youth, spread hatred and promote their own political agendas. The Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) through their recent statement has once again showcased that the goal of pro-Khalistan groups is not to protect the rights of Sikhs but perpetuation of separatist and violent politics, a report has stated.

The statement not only included anti-India rhetoric but also openly claimed that Khalistan can only be achieved through armed struggle, showcasing an ideology that is not only against the democratic values and the rule of law, but also contrary to the fundamental teachings of Sikhism, a report in 'Khalsa Vox' detailed.

"Most importantly, the statement exposed the deep divisions that exist within the pro-Khalistan camp itself. On one side are organisations advocating electoral politics, referendums, and political campaigns, while on the other are groups like BKI that reject these methods and insist that violence is the only path forward," the report mentioned.

"This clearly indicates that the Khalistan movement is not a unified ideology but rather a collection of competing factions engaged in a struggle for influence and leadership. Ironically, the very organisations that have failed to determine a realistic path to achieving their own objectives continue to sell dreams to Sikh youth," it added.

These groups, the report stated, have no clear roadmap, economic plan, administrative framework and international support. However, they continue to exploit historical pain and try to push young people towards extremist thinking. The Sikh community, it said, must understand their real challenges are education, employment, drug abuse, agricultural distress, social reform and youth empowerment and solution to these issues is not in separatism but in democratic participation, social unity and constructive leadership.

Another Khalsa Vox report had earlier this week highlighted a widely shared video circulating on social media from Canada’s Brampton city depicting what it described as "a disturbing spectacle, a brazen display of extremism” on Canadian soil.

“On Sunday, June 7, 2026, during events marking the anniversary of Operation Blue Star (1984), a massive 50-foot moving tableau organised by pro-Khalistan elements openly glorified the assassination of India’s former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The tableau, reportedly linked to the banned Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) and associated groups, depicted the graphic scene of Indira Gandhi being shot by her Sikh bodyguards, Beant Singh and Satwant Singh, on October 31, 1984,” the report detailed.

It mentioned that the international community needs to recognise Khalistani extremism as a radical fringe exploiting grievances and posing a threat to security, communal harmony, and bilateral relations. Canada, it mentioned, should act decisively to curb hate parades, ban incitement, and place the rule of law over electoral politics.

“Another life-size figure targeted Lt Gen. Kuldip Singh Brar — who led Operation Blue Star to flush out militants from the Golden Temple in Amritsar — with a bullseye on his forehead. Banners screamed “Revenge” for the military action against Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and his armed followers holed up in the holiest Sikh shrine, the report revealed.

According to the report, this is not an isolated provocation by Khalistani extremists, adding that Brampton city, with its large Punjabi diaspora, has increasingly become a hub for such processions.

“A 5-km-long parade featured Khalistani flags, glorification of violence, and open calls that echo separatist ideology. SFJ, designated a terrorist organisation and banned by India in 2019 for activities prejudicial to national security, continues to operate freely in Canada, pushing its so-called ‘Khalistan Referendum’ campaigns,” it stated.

The report noted that freedom of expression cannot be used to justify the glorification of terrorism. It added that although Canada designates certain groups as threats, activities linked to SFJ continue to persist.

Imphal, June 11 (SocialNews.XYZ) A 24-hour total shutdown called by the United Naga Council (UNC) to protest the killing of six Naga civilians severely disrupted normal life across Naga-inhabited areas of Manipur on Thursday.

The UNC, the apex body of the Naga community in Manipur, called the shutdown from 6 a.m. on June 11 to 6 a.m. on June 12 in protest against the killing of six villagers who were abducted by armed groups belonging to different tribal communities on May 13.

Their mutilated bodies were recovered on Wednesday from a forested area near Kharam Vaiphei village, a predominantly Kuki-Zo tribal settlement in the Saitu-Gamphazol Sub-division of Kangpokpi district.

According to police officials, shops and markets remained closed throughout the day, while government and private offices, educational institutions and financial establishments also suspended operations. Private vehicles and passenger transport largely stayed off the roads as the shutdown affected routine activities across the region.

The UNC urged citizens to observe the shutdown peacefully and stand in solidarity with the Naga community until justice is delivered to the victims and their families.

The tribal body also announced that the mortal remains of the six Naga hostages would not be received until its four-point charter of demands is addressed and justice is ensured by both the Manipur government and the Centre.

Among its key demands are the abrogation of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement with all Kuki militant groups and the immediate arrest and prosecution of all Kuki National Front cadres allegedly involved in the abduction of 18 Naga civilians, including two pastors, from Leilon Vaiphei village on May 13 and the subsequent killing of six of them.

Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen -- who belongs to the Thadou tribe, which forms part of the broader Kuki-Zo community in Manipur, and several individuals and more than a dozen organisations have strongly condemned the killings.

The Manipur Chief Minister had earlier stated that the cases relating to the abduction of the six Naga villagers, along with the killing of three church leaders in Kangpokpi district on May 13, had already been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for a detailed probe.

The recovery of the bodies of the six Naga civilians came just hours after 14 hostages belonging to the Kuki community were released on Tuesday (June 9) following nearly four weeks in captivity.

According to police officials, the 14 Kuki villagers were handed over to a police station in Senapati district on Tuesday (June 10) by the UNC and the Naga People’s Organisation (NPO).

At least 50 people belonging to the Kuki and Naga communities were allegedly held hostage by different armed groups in Kangpokpi and Senapati districts following the violent incidents of May 13, during which three church leaders were killed and four others were injured in Kangpokpi district. Around 30 individuals from both communities were released on May 14 and May 15 following sustained efforts by authorities, community leaders, and several civil society organisations.

Various organisations representing both the Naga and Kuki communities had since been staging protests and demanding the safe rescue of the abducted persons -- six Nagas and 14 members of the Kuki community.

Meanwhile, a statement issued by the Manipur Police on Thursday said that, in view of recent developments, intelligence inputs indicated that armed cadres were planning attacks on isolated villages in the hill districts. Acting on these inputs, security forces launched a joint operation in the Horei Kaphung Hills (Lower Leishan Ridge) area of Ukhrul district.

"During the operation, approximately a dozen armed cadres were spotted on top of the hills. While some of them fled, eight cadres were detained, disarmed, and later let off with a stern warning not to venture into the hills or carry weapons, as such activities are prohibited,” the statement said. According to the police, a large quantity of weapons, ammunition and other war-like stores were recovered from unauthorised bunkers located on the hilltop.

The statement added that security forces remain committed to continuing operations aimed at safeguarding all affected communities and vulnerable villages across the region.

New Delhi, June 11 (SocialNews.XYZ) The increasing use of children by pro-Khalistan elements in what security agencies describe as a strategic shift has emerged as a major concern for Indian authorities.

The involvement of children in activities considered anti-national has become increasingly common in recent years. “It is a deliberate strategy aimed at evading scrutiny and action by law enforcement agencies," an official said.

The use of children during a Nagar Kirtan procession in Canada on June 7 has drawn attention from security agencies. An official said there is nothing inherently wrong with children participating in a procession of religious or cultural significance. However, in this event, girls estimated to be between six and ten years of age appeared to be wearing outfits resembling suicide vests, raising serious concerns.

The main theme of the procession was revenge for Operation Bluster. There was also a tableau of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi being shot. Further, posters of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the caption ‘most wanted’ were also on display. Children were made to take off their shoes and beat a cutout of PM Modi as well. The Indian Tricolour was allegedly insulted during the procession, with a national flag tied to a vehicle and dragged along the road.

An Intelligence Bureau official said the deployment of children in such protests serves multiple purposes. According to the official, pro-Khalistan groups seek to expose children to their ideology at a very young age, to foster long-term support for the movement.

“The children are being encouraged to develop anti-India sentiments early in life so that, as they grow older, they become active participants and supporters of the Khalistan cause,” the official claimed.

Basically, these extremist elements want to create a next generation of Khalistanis, the official said. These elements also want to send out a clear message to the security agencies that, for the sake of their cause, they are ready to go to any length, including involving minor children, particularly those between six and ten years of age, said the official.

Another official said that placing children at the forefront of protests makes it far more difficult for law enforcement agencies to respond effectively. According to the official, if a demonstration turns violent, officers would first have to ensure the safety and removal of the children before taking action against the protesters involved in the unrest.

The use of children and juveniles is a typical ISI (Inter Services Intelligence) strategy, and we all know that the Khalistanis are the puppets of the Pakistan spy agency,” another official said.

The ISI recruits young people in Pakistan and trains them to become terrorists. They know that the people of that age are very impressionable and hence brainwashing and radicalising them is easier. If children from the age of 8 or 10 are brainwashed and radicalised until they turn 18, then they become hardened criminals, the official said.

The Khalistani extremist elements are trying to replicate the same strategy and hence this pattern shift, officials say.

"There are concerns that such tactics could eventually be replicated in Punjab, as part of a broader strategy aimed at shaping and reinforcing a particular narrative," the official said.

The official said that the Khalistan elements are gradually trying to move away from the referendums they used to hold earlier. Canada and the United Kingdom are working closely with India to solve this problem. This has made it hard for them to operate openly. Instead, they are propagating for a separate Khalistan nation under the garb of religious and cultural events.

The Indian security agencies say that similar tactics could be used in Punjab, and hence, close monitoring would be essential.

Disguising the Khalistan cause, while also trying to make a point, is a safe way of doing things, the agencies say. With the ISI pushing hard for the revival of the Khalistan movement in Punjab, extra caution must be exercised, and a close watch should be kept on religious and cultural events and also the use of children as a cover, an official said.

Imphal/Shillong, June 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen, the United Naga Council (UNC), and several organisations on Wednesday strongly condemned the killing of six members of the Naga community who were abducted by armed groups belonging to different tribal communities on May 13 in Manipur.

The UNC, the apex body of the Naga community in Manipur, has called for a 24-hour shutdown from 6 a.m. on June 11 to 6 a.m. on June 12 in protest against the killings.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, who is also the National President of the National People’s Party (NPP), said the killing was particularly heartbreaking because it occurred despite the goodwill and sincere efforts of the UNC to create an atmosphere conducive to dialogue, reconciliation, and peaceful engagement.

“A gesture intended to build trust and foster understanding has instead been met with violence, resulting in the loss of innocent lives and immense suffering for their families and communities. There can be no justification for the taking of innocent lives. At this difficult moment, I urge all concerned to exercise restraint and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice. Lasting peace can only be built through mutual respect, dialogue and a commitment to resolving differences through peaceful means rather than violence,” Sangma said.

Condemning the killings, Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen said the heinous act of violence was deeply distressing and had left an indelible mark on the conscience of society.

“Such brutality has no place in our state and goes against the principles of humanity, mutual respect and the values we collectively cherish. Let us honour the memory of the victims by fostering understanding, compassion and dialogue. I appeal to everyone to work toward restoring peace and harmony, ensuring that Manipur remains a land of unity and hope. I further implore every citizen to rededicate themselves to the pursuit of a future free from fear and the cycle of hatred,” Kipgen said.

The UNC said the Naga people’s prayerful expectation following the release of 14 Kuki detainees on Tuesday evening was shattered by the discovery that the six innocent Nagas taken hostage by Leilon Vaiphei villagers and KNF (P) militants on May 13 had been recovered not only as lifeless human remains but also in highly mutilated and dismembered conditions.

“This is most unacceptable and a gross violation of human rights and disrespect for the dignity of human persons. This tragedy has caused immense pain to the families and to the Naga people at large. It has shaken the faith of citizens in the government’s ability to ensure the safety and security of innocent civilians,” UNC Information and Publicity Secretary H. James Hau said.

He added that the killings were being viewed as a direct challenge to the collective identity and security of the Naga people.

The UNC urged all citizens to observe the shutdown peacefully and stand in solidarity with the Naga community until justice is delivered. The tribal body also announced that the mortal remains of the six Naga hostages would not be received until its four-point charter of demands is addressed and justice is ensured for the families of the victims by both the Manipur government and the Centre.

Among its key demands are the abrogation of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement with all Kuki militant groups and the immediate arrest and prosecution of all Kuki National Front cadres allegedly involved in the abduction of 18 Naga civilians, including two pastors, on May 13 from Leilon Vaiphei village, and the subsequent killing of six of them.

Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh also strongly condemned the brutal act in Killing of six Naga people.

In a statement, the Chief Minister maintained that the government will not tolerate such brutal violence and will not remain a mute spectator to these atrocities.

Culprits responsible for the murder will be arrested and punished as per the law of the land, he added.

The state government has already handed over the investigation into the abduction of six Naga villagers to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) earlier.

The Chief Minister also condemned the killing of a farmer from Lansan Kuki village in Tamenglong district by suspected armed attackers on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved family of the deceased.

Dhaka, June 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) Several international Islamic NGOs from Turkey, Pakistan, and the Middle East have established "sanctuaries" in Bangladesh’s Cox's Bazar, both directly and with the assistance of local NGOs, under the guise of addressing the Rohingya refugee crisis.

The activities of these new emerging NGOs have become a matter of concern, with allegations that certain organisations are working to spread extremism among the Rohingya, a report has stated.

"The Rohingya have long been used as pawns in local and international politics, and extremist Islamic organisations are taking advantage of this. During the previous Awami League government, these NGOs worked with some restraint, but in the last two years, they have gained momentum. Now they consider the Cox's Bazar-Bandarban region as their independent territory,” a report in Bangladeshi newspaper 'Sonar Bangla' detailed.

According to the report, officials from senior military intelligence agencies of Pakistan and Turkey conducted on-site surveys during the former Muhammad led Yunus administration. It claimed that various international actors are working on multiple blueprints centred on the region.

The report stated that just as the “headmaster of the extreme damage to Bangladesh,” Yunus and his interim regime were involved in this "blueprint," the current Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) government led by Tarique Rahman is also following the same course.

“Prime Minister Tarique Rahman also believes that by signing a military assistance agreement with Turkey, Bangladesh's military power against India can be greatly increased,” it noted.

Speaking to Sonar Bangla, a few journalists from Chittagong and Cox's Bazar and some NGO workers in the Cox's Bazar region said, "This is the era of Pak-Turkey, which has been in full swing for the past two years. There is no telling how much money is coming in. How many drugs, weapons, and Islamic militants are being produced through all this?"

Citing several journalists who spoke on condition of anonymity, the report said that the growing Rohingya presence has emerged as a major threat for local Bangladeshis, with Bengalis now reportedly constituting a minority in at least two Cox's Bazar upazilas.

Hamidul Haque Chowdhury, chairman of the Rohingya Repatriation Struggle Committee, said that the “nefarious activities and covert activities” of domestic and foreign NGOs have raised serious concerns, underscoring the need for stricter monitoring and regulation.

“NGOs do not want them to return to their homeland. Even UNHCR has this complaint all the time. Because if the Rohingyas leave, their (NGOs') business will stop. They want this problem to be long-term in order to keep their business going,” the report mentioned.

It further alleged that several NGOs, including Shura, Iqra, Asiyab, Islamic Relief, Muslim Aid, Mercy Malaysia, SKB (Small Kindness of Bangladesh), Allama Faizullah Foundation, and Pulse Bangladesh, have been involved in "malicious activities."

Among them, the report said, SKB was identified as one of the most active organizations in the Rohingya camps, while many of its members are current and former leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir, and leadership of the organization is currently held by a former Shibir leader from Chittagong.

“During the previous Awami League government, 41 organisations were banned from the NGO Bureau based on the recommendations of several intelligence agencies. However, the NGOs that were banned at that time resumed their nefarious activities during the previous Yunus government,” it highlighted.

Imphal, June 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) The bodies of six Naga community members, who were abducted by armed groups belonging to different tribal communities on May 13, were recovered on Wednesday from a forested area in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district, officials said.

A police official said that after nearly 24 hours of extensive search operations conducted jointly by central and state security forces, the six bodies were found in a forest area near Kharam Vaiphei village, a predominantly Kuki-Zo tribal settlement in the Saitu-Gamphazol Sub-division of Kangpokpi district.

The large-scale search operation involved around 450 personnel from the Manipur Police, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Assam Rifles. Sniffer dogs and forensic experts were also deployed during the operation.

“The deceased are believed to be among those taken hostage from the Leilon Vaiphei area (Kangpokpi district) on May 13. Necessary legal formalities are being carried out by the police. Further investigation is underway,” a Manipur Police statement said.

The bodies are being transported to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, for post-mortem examination and other necessary formalities.

The recovery of the bodies came just hours after 14 hostages belonging to the Kuki community were released on Tuesday following nearly four weeks in captivity. On Tuesday evening, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio had appealed to the concerned groups to ensure the safe release of the six Naga villagers who had remained in captivity since May 13.

According to police officials, the 14 Kuki villagers were handed over to a police station in Senapati district on Tuesday by the United Naga Council (UNC) and the Naga People’s Organisation (NPO) late on Tuesday afternoon.

Nagaland Chief Minister Rio had appealed for the safe release of the six Naga hostages in a reciprocal and humanitarian manner so that they could return to their loved ones. He said in a post on X that such gestures could pave the way for trust, understanding and dialogue as communities strive for genuine peace, reconciliation and harmony.

Rio added that he welcomed the safe and humane release of the Kuki hostages by the United Naga Council and Naga civil society organisations, in response to appeals made by Church bodies led by the Baptist World Alliance. He noted that over the past weeks, he had held several interactions with representatives of Naga civil society groups in collective efforts to resolve the impasse on humanitarian grounds and in the spirit of Christian values.

He expressed hope that the development would contribute to restoring trust, healing divisions and paving the way for lasting peace in Manipur.

Welcoming the safe release of the 14 Kuki hostages as a positive and humanitarian step, Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh expressed appreciation to all individuals and stakeholders involved in facilitating their release. He lauded Naga civil society groups for their role in securing the release of the hostages and described the effort as a reflection of compassion, responsibility and concern for human life.

The Manipur Chief Minister also appealed to all sections of society to renounce violence in all forms. He stressed that the ongoing crisis has caused immense suffering to victims and their families and assured that strict legal action would be taken against those responsible, adding that justice would be ensured.

Meanwhile, according to police officials, at least 50 people belonging to the Kuki and Naga communities were allegedly held hostage by different armed groups in Kangpokpi and Senapati districts following violent incidents on May 13, in which three church leaders were killed and four others injured in Kangpokpi district.

Around 30 individuals from both communities were released on May 14 and May 15 following sustained efforts by authorities, community leaders and several civil society organisations.

Various organisations representing both the Naga and Kuki communities have been continuously staging protests and demanding the safe rescue of the abducted persons, six Nagas and 14 Kuki community members.

The Manipur Chief Minister had earlier stated that the cases relating to the abduction of the six Naga villagers and the killing of the three church leaders in Kangpokpi district on May 13 had already been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for a detailed investigation.

New Delhi, June 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) With Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on the boil owing to protests and a brutal genocide by the security forces, Indian intelligence agencies have warned of a possible spillover and attempts to create a diversion.

An Intelligence Bureau official said that although security forces in Pakistan are busy dealing with the protests, there would be infiltration attempts through the Line of Control (LoC). To facilitate the same, the ISI would look to carry out attacks in Jammu and Kashmir and also in other parts of the country.

The Indian security forces remain on a state of very high alert and are taking all measures to avert a spillover into Jammu and Kashmir. The official said that with chaos erupting in PoK, the ISI has instructed all terror launchpads to be ready to launch terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir.

Officials say that the ISI would look to capitalise on the situation. For Field Marshal Asim Munir, who has been facing a backlash on the global stage for the atrocities being committed in PoK, an attack in India would help in diverting attention, officials also say.

Intelligence interests suggest that online activity has increased, and the ISI-backed elements are trying to activate modules within India to carry out attacks. There is a sense of desperation that has set in. Moreover, activating modules is no easy task, considering that a number of them have been busted by the Indian agencies in recent months.

Another official noted that while the modules may have been busted, the ISI managed to gather ample information about sensitive locations in India. Through its solar-powered CCTV module, it had picked up information about sensitive locations such as military installations, crowded railway stations and bus stands. The Pakistani spy agency would look to recruit youth and use them to carry out attacks on these locations, the official noted.

Indian agencies have also alerted the security officials to remain on guard for possible activity on social media. There would be disinformation campaigns against India. Attempts would also be made to blame India for the ongoing situation in PoK, officials have warned.

During and post Operation Sindoor, the ISI had managed to create thousands of accounts that were aimed at running a disinformation campaign. An official warned that these accounts could get more active now, and false information would be posted about India’s involvement in the PoK mess. These accounts would blame the Indian government, Intelligence agencies and also the security forces for trying to incite violence in PoK, the official also said.

While attempts would be made to shift the blame, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) criticised Pakistan over what it described as brutality against the people of PoK. The MEA also urged the international community to hold Islamabad accountable for human rights abuses.

"We continue to see, in this context, a pattern of fake news and videos emanating from Pakistan. It is a desperate attempt by Pakistan to cover up its own failings and deflect attention away from its human rights abuses," the MEA spokesperson also said.

An official said that there is desperation that has set in, and the Pakistan establishment desperately wants a diversion. While PoK remains the main issue for Pakistan currently, things are not hunky-dory in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well, the official noted. The Pakistanis are facing allegations of brutal human rights abuse in all three regions. With the international community breathing down its neck, it would look to carry out a quick strike in India so that the attention is diverted.

Mumbai, June 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has launched a scathing attack on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), demanding the immediate expulsion of Water Resources Minister Girish Mahajan from both the State Cabinet and the party.

The Congress accused Mahajan of making "anti-national" remarks and "insulting the bravery of the Indian Armed Forces" during his recent visit to Punjab.

The controversy erupted after Mahajan attended the 42nd anniversary commemoration of 'Operation Blue Star' on June 6 at the Damdami Taksal headquarters in Chowk Mehta of Amritsar.

Attending the event as a representative of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Mahajan termed June 6 a "kaala din" (black day), strongly condemned the 1984 military action, and criticised the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi for "forcibly" sending the Army into the sacred shrine.

Reacting sharply to the developments, MPCC President Harshwardhan Sapkal termed Mahajan's statements "highly irresponsible" and detrimental to national interest.

"By questioning Operation Blue Star -- a mission undertaken to safeguard the country's unity and national security -- he has effectively undermined India's fight against terrorism," Sapkal said on Tuesday.

"Girish Mahajan, who has taken an anti-national position, should be immediately removed from the Maharashtra Cabinet as well as from the BJP."

Countering the Minister's narrative, Sapkal emphasised that 'Operation Blue Star' was a necessary military action against armed Khalistani separatists conspiring to break up India, rather than an action against any religion.

"The Then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi took this tough decision despite being fully aware that it could endanger her own life, prioritising the unity and integrity of the nation above all else. Subsequently, she was assassinated by Khalistani extremists. Maharashtra's son, General Arun Kumar Vaidya, who led the operation, was also targeted and assassinated by terrorists. Girish Mahajan's remarks amount to disrespecting the sacrifices made by these great individuals," he said.

Sapkal claimed that Mahajan's remarks have exposed the "anti-national mindset" of the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), saying that the country could have faced disintegration had the military operation not been carried out.

He also brought up the historical involvement of top security officials to highlight the contradiction in Mahajan's stance on Tuesday.

"Notably, the country's current National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval, was also involved in security operations related to this mission. Will Girish Mahajan now condemn his role as well? Does he have the courage to demand Doval's removal from the post of National Security Advisor?" Sapkal asked.

He took severe exception to Mahajan comparing the Indian military operation to the historical invasions of Ahmad Shah Abdali, accusing him of attempting to generate sympathy for terrorists and glorifying Khalistani separatist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, whose photos were displayed on the stage backdrop at the event.

The MPCC Chief has now placed the onus on the top brass of the state and Central governments to clarify their stance.

"Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis must clarify whether sending a state representative to an event glorifying Bhindranwale reflects the official policy of the Maharashtra government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah must state whether they agree with Mahajan's position. If the leadership does not align with Minister Mahajan, they publicly condemn his remarks and tender an apology to the nation and the Indian Armed Forces," he demanded.

Sapkal concluded by alleging that the BJP leadership appears willing to compromise on national security, sovereignty, and unity for the sake of "vote-bank politics," adding that Mahajan must immediately apologise to the country and its soldiers for his remarks.

New Delhi, June 9 (SocialNews.XYZ) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday conducted searches at multiple locations in Punjab and Haryana in connection with three terror-gangster network cases linked to Pakistan-based terrorist Shahzad Bhatti.

NIA teams carried out coordinated searches at 18 locations across nine districts in the two states. Several individuals were examined to gather relevant information, while digital devices, documents, and data related to communication networks, financial transactions, and the activities of persons under the agency’s scanner were seized in connection with the three cases.

The information and evidence collected during the searches have been sent for scrutiny, as well as forensic and technical examination, to help unravel the larger cross-border conspiracy.

Notices have also been issued to certain individuals to join the investigation for further questioning as part of the NIA’s ongoing probe into the broader conspiracy allegedly being operated by gangster-turned-terrorist Bhatti from across the border. Tuesday’s searches focused on identifying Bhatti’s associates and others linked to the terror conspiracy in all three cases.

According to the NIA, investigations in case RC-22/2025/NIA/DLI have traced the March 2025 grenade attack at the residence of social media influencer Roger Sandhu in Punjab's Jalandhar to Bhatti. In April, the agency chargesheeted Bhatti, who remains absconding, along with another accused in the case.

The NIA has further found that Bhatti also masterminded the November 2025 explosion at the Women Police Station in Haryana's Sirsa (case RC-24/2025/NIA/DLI), and the January 2026 blast at the Baldev Nagar Police Station in Haryana'a Ambala (case RC-03/2026/NIA/DLI). In the Sirsa case, the agency chargesheeted nine individuals, including Bhatti and another Pakistan-based handler, Sohail Ahmad alias Sohail Baloch, in May.

The Baldev Nagar Police Station case relates to a car bomb explosion, in which one arrested accused was found to have been in contact with Bhatti.

Investigations in all three cases are continuing as part of the NIA’s efforts to trace every link in the terror network and bring those responsible to justice.

New Delhi, June 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) On June 9, 2024, Narendra Modi took the oath of office for a historic third term as Prime Minister, following the victory of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the general elections. During the 2014 campaign, Narendra Modi, then Chief Minister of Gujarat, had emphasised on the need to fight terror. In fact, it was a major issue at that time as India was witnessing bomb attacks almost on a daily basis. It was the Indian Mujahideen which carried out one audacious attack after another, and the outfit had become a nightmare for the Indian agencies.

During the campaign, Narendra Modi made it clear that if voted into power, his government would deal with this problem with an iron fist.

On October 27, 2013, over 300,000 people had gathered at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna, Bihar, for the BJP’s Hunker Rally. 17 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were planted, and the first bomb went off at 9.30 a.m. in a public restroom at the Patna railway station. This was followed by many more bombs going off inside and outside the packed rally grounds. Six people were killed, and over 80 were injured.

Despite the chaos and the dangers, Narendra Modi insisted on going ahead with the rally. He remained calm on the stage and focused on unity while avoiding inflammatory rhetoric. Once voted into power, PM Modi’s biggest challenge was dismantling the Indian Mujahideen and every other homegrown terror outfit.

Officials in security circles say that the dismantling of the Indian Mujahideen was one of India’s most significant counter-terror achievements by any government. It began in late 2013 following the arrest of Indian Mujahideen’s mastermind Yasin Bhatkal. The complete destruction of the outfit took place between 2014 and 2017 under the watch of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

An official said that the PM had said back then that he wanted no politics when it came to terror. He was clear that destroying the Indian Mujahideen would be his immediate top priority. More importantly, he told the officers that they would have a free hand to dismantle this dangerous outfit. It was operational autonomy that finally worked, the official said.

Further, there were targeted amendments that were made to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). This gave the authorities the power to designate individual terror operatives as terrorists instead of just banning their parent organisation. This, in fact, trapped the founders of the Indian Mujahideen, Riyaz and Iqbal Bhatkal. Their international movement and financial assets could be easily targeted thanks to the amendments made by the Modi government.

The National Investigation Agency played a key role too. They were backed by structural modernisation, which eventually led to a high conviction rate. The captured operatives of the Indian Mujahideen were handed out life or death penalty. Importantly, they could use legal loopholes to escape.

Under PM Modi’s watch, apart from the investigations on the ground, a massive emphasis was given to dismantling the outfit’s financial network. The outfit relied heavily on illicit hawala banking, which was fed by handlers in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Mass actions such as targeting of black and hawala money followed. This severely choked the finances of the Indian Mujahideen. Between 2014 and 2016, the Modi government moved away from reactive to active policing and Intelligence gathering. Thanks to this, the Indian Mujahideen’s primary bases in Azmargarh, Darbhanga and Pune were dismantled.

An official said that there was a time when some of these areas were no-go zones. The Modi government told officials to work without fear and even deployed central agencies to break these networks where governments were non-cooperative. Under PM Modi, there was a major shift in foreign policy. India could now leverage its geopolitical influence to capture terrorists hiding abroad. This led to the deportation of key Indian Mujahideen financial controllers and logistic planners.

With the Indian Mujahideen completely dismantled, the Home Minister banned its radical precursors and ideological safe havens. There was a massive crackdown on outfits such as the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and Popular Front of India (PFI). This cut off the foundational recruitment groups that outfits such as the Indian Mujahideen and others used.

Another official said that the agencies were not chasing only the Indian Mujahideen. All the actions also led to the collapse of homegrown terror outfits in India.

For Pakistan, a homegrown outfit works since blasts can take place in India, and Islamabad has the deniability factor. The crackdown on these terror groups also gave the Pakistanis much to think about, and so far they have not managed to successfully raise a homegrown outfit in India, the official also pointed out.

Islamabad, June 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) The suspension of Indus Water Treaty (IWT) is not the original cause of Pakistan's water crisis. In reality, rivers in Pakistan are running short due to Pakistani authorities' failure to store the water it already controls, failure to modernise its irrigation system, protect the Indus delta and to distribute scarcity fairly among its provinces, a report has stated.

Following the heinous terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam in April 2025, India had exercised its rights as a sovereign nation under international law and placed Indus Water Treaty in abeyance until Pakistan stops its support for cross-border terrorism.

The Hague-based Clingendael Institute termed India’s decision a “pause of cooperation, not an end” and stated that the suspension came after Pahalgam attack and was framed by New Delhi in national-security terms, an opinion piece in Afghanistan's Khaama Press highlighted. The move, analysts reckon, is more a strategic message than an instant cutoff.

Pakistan's leadership has nevertheless blamed India for its water shortage problems. Pakistan's narrative is politically useful as it helps to gain support of people and allows the authorities to avoid questions about mismanagement, weak storage, provincial mistrust, canal losses, groundwater depletion, floodplain neglect and poor crop planning.

"The suspension of the treaty may be a serious diplomatic escalation, but it is not the original cause of Pakistan’s water crisis. Pakistan’s rivers are not running short only because of an upstream neighbour. They are running short because the Pakistani state has spent decades failing to store the water it already controls, failing to modernise its irrigation system, failing to protect the Indus delta, and failing to distribute scarcity fairly among its own provinces. India’s move has given Islamabad a powerful external alibi. The deeper crisis, however, remains domestic," Khaama Press opinion piece mentioned.

Despite receiving large seasonal river flows, Pakistan's storage capacity remains low. Policy discussions in Pakistan have repeatedly stated that the country can store water for only about 30 days, far below the 120-day benchmark cited in national planning debates. For years, Pakistan has spoken about developing new dams, however, successive governments have not been able to build the provincial consensus needed to go ahead with the plan.

Apart from facing water shortage, Pakistan irrigation system remains inadequate, politically protected and slow to reform. Flood irrigation, leaky canals, weak pricing, poor crop choices and groundwater overuse have caused a permanent national condition in Pakistan.

"Per capita water availability tells the same story. According to water-sector estimates cited by Dawn and other Pakistani outlets, Pakistan’s annual per capita water availability has fallen from more than 5,000 cubic metres in the early years after independence to below 1,000 cubic metres today, a level widely associated with water scarcity. This collapse has been driven by population growth, inefficient use and poor governance. India did not create that long decline. Pakistani policymakers allowed it," the Khaama Press article emphasised.

The distribution of water in Pakistan is also politically contested. Under the 1991 Water Apportionment Accord, the Indus River System Authority is supposed to regulate water distribution among provinces of Pakistan. However, in reality, the accord created a national framework. The lower riparian provinces, particularly Sindh, have said that shortages are not shared fairly and that Punjab, the upstream province, remains protected.

Tumakuru (Karnataka), June 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) The investigation into the alleged terror-related social media network busted by Karnataka's Tumakuru police has revealed that the Pakistan-based handler had instructed the arrested youths to build a larger group and recruit 50 to 60 members, promising financial support for their activities, police said on Monday.

According to investigators, the handler, identified as Rana, allegedly radicalised the accused through Instagram and other social media platforms, gradually shifting conversations from religious discussions to provocative narratives. During the course of communication, he is said to have instructed the accused to prepare a group of 50 to 60 individuals and train them as per his directions, assuring them of unlimited financial assistance.

Police sources said the handler’s alleged objective was to build an organised network in India by using socially connected youths who could be influenced online. The promise of funds and instructions to expand the group are now being treated as a key development in the ongoing investigation.

The case involves the arrest of two youths -- Allabakash (23) from Tumakuru and Zameer Khan (23) from Davanagere -- who were taken into custody under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for their alleged links with a Pakistan-based individual through social media platforms.

Investigators said the accused were in continuous contact with the handler for nearly 20 days through Instagram, X, and WhatsApp groups. The conversations allegedly began with religious content before evolving into discussions involving unity, retaliation, and mobilisation of individuals.

Police further said the handler allegedly referred to past incidents and attempted to emotionally influence the accused by framing the narrative around community grievances. He is also suspected of trying to expand his reach by introducing the accused to other contacts and encouraging group-based coordination.

Officials said central intelligence inputs played a crucial role in alerting Karnataka Police, following which a joint operation was conducted, and the two suspects were arrested. One of the accused had reportedly been absconding before being taken into custody.

Police sources added that the investigation has now widened to determine whether additional individuals were targeted or recruited as part of the alleged network. Authorities are also examining digital evidence recovered from mobile phones and social media accounts to trace the full extent of the communication chain.

The probe is continuing to establish whether the alleged instructions to form a 50-60 member group were part of a larger coordinated plan, and whether similar attempts were made in other parts of the country.

According to police, the arrested individuals were ordinary young men engaged in small jobs. About a month ago, they allegedly came into contact with Rana separately through Instagram. Later, they interacted multiple times on X and were eventually added to a WhatsApp group.

Initially, Rana reportedly shared messages about Islam and the teachings of the Prophet, but later began encouraging group unity more provocatively, gradually shifting the discussion towards ideas of retaliation against the country, investigators said.

The probe also revealed that Rana referenced the killing of a cleric in Pune and spoke about taking revenge. He allegedly discussed preparations required for such acts and insisted that the community must remain united and not spare anyone. Police further suspect that Rana has followers in several parts of the country and had introduced the arrested youths to his wider network.

New Delhi, June 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) Intelligence agencies have issued a high-level alert regarding a strategic shift in the operations of pro-Khalistan elements. They have observed that pro-Khalistan groups have decided to launch an all-out operation that will not remain confined to Punjab. Multiple incidents involving these elements have already been reported, with Punjab emerging as the primary target so far.

While these elements have been carrying out low-intensity attacks in Punjab, they have also been engaging think tanks and funding pressure groups to advocate their cause for a so-called Khalistan nation.

An Intelligence Bureau official said that these elements are not sticking to the basics in their previous phase of the movement. Unlike the 1980s and 1990s, when the focus was entirely on carrying out large-scale attacks in Punjab, this time around there is heavy emphasis on propaganda.

The official said the recent low-intensity attacks and bomb threats sent to the Delhi Mayor were diversionary tactics aimed at keeping security agencies focused on a single front.

"The objective is to keep the situation simmering and divert attention, while the actual intent is to execute a much larger operation, potentially on the scale of the Kanishka bombing," he said.

The Kanishka bombings were one of the biggest operations that the Khalistan elements have carried out. A bomb was planted by operatives of the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) on the Air India Flight 182 on June 23, 1985. The plane exploded mid-air off the coast of Ireland, killing all 329 on board.

An official said that intelligence and security agencies are maintaining a close watch on Punjab due to the frequent occurrence of minor incidents linked to Khalistan elements. He noted that a review of the operational pattern shows that most of these incidents have so far been relatively low-level in nature.

Further, these elements have been organising referendums and conducting seminars through their ties with various think tanks and pressure groups to build a narrative. “Their objective is to portray India as failing to safeguard the human rights of Sikhs while simultaneously seeking to rally international support for the demand for a separate Khalistan nation carved out of Punjab,” the officials said.

These groups have allegedly roped in gangsters whose activities keep security agencies occupied on multiple fronts. According to officials, these operatives have been tasked with targeting Indian interests overseas and have also been linked to attacks and intimidation directed at members of the Indian community abroad.

Another official said that the pattern of operations suggests an attempt to create multiple distractions while preparing for a larger strike. The BKI, which has been instructed by Pakistan's ISI to take the lead role when it comes to Khalistani terror, is looking to execute a high-impact operation.

"The plan is to carry out either a major assassination or a hijack and even a bombing on the lines of the Kanishka incident," the official added.

The official further said that the coordination with international players is very important, considering what the Khalistanis are planning. The attack may not necessarily have to take place in India, as the agencies are very alert and are tracking their activities closely.

The issue is that the BKI is planning something big abroad with the clear intention of hurting Indian interests. Such an attack is also being planned with the intention of derailing India’s ties with Canada and the United Kingdom, another official stated.

The agencies warn that this is one of the most crucial and dangerous phases when it comes to dealing with the Khalistan movement. They have not succeeded in recruitment in Punjab. Most of the narcotics that are being brought in by them are being busted by the agencies. Their propaganda campaign has failed to gain the traction they had anticipated in Punjab. At the same time, BKI is said to be facing intense pressure from the ISI to deliver tangible results.

Several Khalistani operatives found refuge with the ISI after the movement was largely suppressed in India. The intelligence assessment suggests that the Pakistani spy agency is now seeking a return on that support, placing increased pressure on these groups. Officials believe that these developments have left Khalistani terror outfits in a state of growing desperation, raising concerns that they may attempt a high-impact operation to reassert their relevance.

New Delhi, June 7 (SocialNews.XYZ) Militant violence in Pakistan surged by 27 per cent in May, according to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS).

The country is caught in a vicious cycle of armed attacks, and there is no let-up in them.

The consistency and increasing intensity of the attacks and the failure of the Pakistani security agencies to contain them raise serious questions about the capability of the Pakistan Army.

The security situation has worsened at a time when the security establishment, under Field Marshal Asim Munir, has openly dominated the country's domestic and foreign policy.

The role of the civilian leadership has been limited to either approving or promoting the decisions taken by the security establishment.

In the past, at least efforts were made not to acknowledge it (while the world knew well who pulled the strings when a decision on security, foreign policy, and even the economy was to be made).

Since Shehbaz Sharif's assumption as the Prime Minister, the government has been more focused on validating the Pakistan Army's role than on highlighting its role in governing the country.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif accepted publicly that Pakistan had an "existing hybrid model of governance".

Emphasising the dependency of the civilian leadership on the establishment, Asif said that a "hybrid regime" was necessary for the country to emerge from economic and governance crises.

Khawaja Asif's statements and his role in endorsing the Army need to be taken seriously, including his understanding of the country's security issues and his options for addressing them.

While consistently praising the Army, Asif has been actively trying to shift attention from the failures of the Pakistan Army to externalise the crisis.

He is insistently trying to link the armed attacks with Afghanistan, accusing the Taliban regime of being complicit in the activities of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and acting as a "proxy" of anti-Pakistan powers.

The narrative rolled out by Asif is a tactic to defend the Army for its failure to fight the armed Baloch nationalists in Balochistan and religious extremists in Khyber Paktunkhwa (KP).

It was Asif who had declared that Pakistan was in "open war" with its neighbouring country.

Asif is acting more like a spokesperson of the Army than the Defence Minister of the government.

Undermining the credibility of the civilian government and heaping praise for the Army, Asif said in an interview last year that the hybrid model was "not an ideal democratic government", but it was "doing wonders".

No proof has been provided to illustrate what "wonders" the hybrid model has done.

Pakistan is still seeking bailouts and financial aid.

Despite forming the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) with the Army at its centre to attract foreign direct investment (FDI), instead of increasing, the interest of foreign investors in Pakistan is decreasing.

As far as security is concerned -- the main job of the Army -- if anything, has deteriorated, as vindicated by the attacks carried out by various armed groups.

For the last two decades, the Pakistan Army has conducted operation after operation to fight off various armed groups. None of these operations has achieved the goal. On the one hand, the Army has been carrying out these operations, mainly in KP; on the other hand, armed attacks are on the rise. In fact, these operations have led to human rights violations and the displacement of hundreds of thousands of people.

Additionally, these operations have created fear and anger among the common population. For example, in January, some reports claimed that the Pakistan Army was planning yet another operation in the KP's Tirah Valley against armed militants in the area.

The proposed operation was strongly opposed by the local political, tribal leaders and population. It also created panic in the local population, forcing many to migrate to safer areas, leading to the displacement of the local population.

More than 70,000 mostly women and children, had vacated the area. Earlier, in August 2025, a military campaign in the northwestern Bajaur district had displaced thousands as well.

After getting a bad press, although Asif denied that any military operation was being planned, distrust between the local population and the ruling elite is so deep that the people refused to pay any heed to the government's assurances and kept vacating the area to avoid being collateral damage in the possible military operation.

The distrust is caused by the destruction and violations of human rights in the previous military operations in the area.

In the last more than two decades, 14 operations were conducted in KP alone to fight armed militants, apart from two military operations across Pakistan (Operation Radd-ul Fassad in 2014 and Operation Azm-e-Istehkam in 2024).

The demand to launch yet another military operation undermines rather hollow claims of the Pakistan Army that the previous operations were successful.

Finally, the Pakistan Army decided to carry out military action against Afghanistan to defuse the pressure that was building against it in the wake of the rise in terror attacks. It makes no military or strategic sense to carry out strikes against a country that is weakly governed by a regime that has yet to consolidate its control, but to divert attention from internal criticism.

The Afghan Taliban continue to engage with Islamabad in an effort to avoid military escalation. In his statement, the Deputy Spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate, Hamdullah Fitrat, said that the issue of TTP is an internal matter of Pakistan.

He said that while the Emirate is ready to take steps to ensure that Afghan soil is not used against any country, "some of Pakistan's demands are unrealistic and cannot be implemented by Afghanistan."

On the other hand, Pakistan seems to be bent on being offensive, mainly because the country's security establishment is unable to ensure internal security. It is indifferent to Kabul's pleas.

In his statement in Quetta recently, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warned that Pakistan's military action is to be "continuing with full resolve to defend lives and property of innocent citizens against Afghan Taliban-based terrorist proxies".

Pakistan is building pressure on the Afghan Taliban to behave in a certain way, which is unreasonable and unrealistic.

Since the Afghan Taliban cannot allow Islamabad to dictate its internal and foreign policy, the situation has reached an impasse.

It is up to Pakistan to be realistic and address its internal political security matters.

The Afghan Taliban seem to be ready to cooperate in the areas in which they can deliver. But Pakistan is bent on showing its military strength and coercing Kabul into submission.

Jammu, June 7 (SocialNews.XYZ) An Army officer was killed during the ongoing anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, which entered its 15th day on Sunday.

Officials said that the officer made the supreme sacrifice while performing operational duties during an ongoing anti-terror operation in the district.

Lieutenant Beereshwar Goswami lost his life after reportedly slipping into a deep gorge in the rugged forest area of Manjakote, where security forces have been conducting a massive anti-terror operation, codenamed 'Operation Sheruwali', to trace suspected terrorists believed to be hiding in the region.

Officials said the young officer was part of the joint security team engaged in the operation, which has now entered its 15th day.

The incident occurred amid extremely challenging conditions, including steep mountainous terrain, dense forests and difficult weather conditions.

Despite immediate rescue efforts launched by fellow troops and accompanying teams, Lieutenant Goswami succumbed to the injuries sustained in the fall.

Paying tribute to the fallen officer, Nagrota-headquartered White Knight Corps expressed profound grief over the loss.

In a statement, the Corps said, “GOC White Knight Corps and all ranks express profound grief on the untimely demise of Lieutenant Beereshwar Goswami, who made the supreme sacrifice while undertaking operational duties. “His unwavering devotion to duty, indomitable spirit and selfless service to the Nation will remain an enduring inspiration to all ranks.”

The Army also conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.

Meanwhile, officials said the anti-terror operation in the Manjakote area of Rajouri district is continuing with the joint forces maintaining an extensive search and cordon to track down the terrorists suspected to be operating in the area.

The sacrifice of Lieutenant Beereshwar Goswami has once again underscored the immense challenges faced by security forces while safeguarding the nation’s security in difficult and hostile terrains.

An anti-terror operation code-named ‘Operation Sheruwali’ was started 15 days back when an Army patrol party was fired upon by terrorists in the Dorimal Mughlan forests of Rajouri district.

Additional reinforcements were rushed to the area, and the joint forces brought a large area under the cordon & search operation (CASO). The operation is now underway.

Tel Aviv, June 6 (SocialNews.XYZ) Europe increasingly views India as a strategic partner, yet continues to engage Pakistan through a familiar crisis-management approach it appears reluctant to abandon.

While Europe emphasises security cooperation with New Delhi, it simultaneously reverts to the language of "balance", "engagement", and “restraint” in its outreach to Islamabad, a report has highlighted.

By drawing parallels between Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Ukraine in a recent joint statement following the 8th Pakistan-European Union Strategic Dialogue held in Islamabad, the EU overlooks Pakistan's alleged support for cross-border terrorism and, in the pursuit of optics, undermines its own moral stance on terrorism, Sergio Restelli, an Italian political advisor, author and geopolitical expert, wrote in the 'Times of Israel'.

According to the expert, the recent visit of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President Kaja Kallas to Islamabad risks reinforcing a damaging perception in New Delhi: that Europe seeks India’s market, geopolitical weight and role in balancing China but remains hesitant when it comes to addressing India's concerns on terrorism.

He stated that Europe seeks India's partnership, an EU-India Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to offset potential losses in Washington, but still instinctively reverts to the old Pakistan dossier whenever the dynamics in the subcontinent become strained.

"Earlier this year, Kallas said the EU would proceed with a security and defence partnership with India, a significant step in Europe's Indo-Pacific posture. Yet on the subcontinent's most sensitive security question, the EU continues to behave as though India's counterterror concerns are merely one side of a bilateral quarrel. That is not strategic autonomy. It is strategic confusion. Europe is back again pacifying dictators like it once did. While verbally it tries to proclaim strategic autonomy, it panders to Asif Munir just because it must seem to have a seat at the Iran table," Restelli stated.

"The issue is not that Kallas visited Pakistan. Serious powers engage adversaries, rivals and difficult partners. The issue is that the visit came without any visible insistence on accountability. A serious European message would have been clear: Pakistan cannot claim partnership with Europe while the infrastructure of extremism, denial and proxy violence remains a recurring feature of South Asian instability. Instead, the public choreography gave Pakistan what it most craves: legitimacy without cost," he further mentioned.

Restelli argued that a serious European policy would require a different sequencing: "condemn terrorism, demand accountability, call on Pakistan to dismantle terror networks, affirm India’s right to protect its citizens within international law, and then urge de-escalation".

He warned that without this structure, restraint risks becoming a burden borne primarily by the victim.

New Delhi, June 6 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Pakistan establishment’s reported move to enlist the support of the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) in its fight against the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) appears to be yielding unintended consequences, with signs that the strategy may be backfiring.

The ISKP, which operates as the Islamic State Pakistan Province (ISPP) in Pakistan, seems to have backtracked from its plan of helping the security forces.

An official said Pakistan’s intelligence apparatus failed to gauge the scale and pace of the ISPP’s expansion across the country. As a result, the security landscape in both Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan has become increasingly complex, with multiple militant groups operating in the region. The ISPP has now emerged as a significant player in these conflict zones, the official added.

An Intelligence Bureau official said, “The Pakistani Intelligence agencies and the security forces gave too much priority to the TTP and BLA and in the bargain failed to realise that the ISPP and outfits such as the Ittehad Mujahideen-e- Pakistan (IMP) had been expanding.”

According to the official, the ISPP capitalised on the shortcomings of Pakistan’s intelligence network and expanded its footprint with little scrutiny. In fact, the intelligence agencies in Pakistan spoke only about the threats posed by the BLA and TTP. There was not a single dedicated intelligence assessment or report highlighting the threat posed by the ISPP, the official claimed.

Another official said that the rate at which the ISPP is growing is a matter of serious concern for the region. The Islamic State, which is the parent organisation, is an international terrorist group. This has made the ISPP more lucrative for many terrorists operating in the region.

Although the ISPP began operations in 2015 in Pakistan’s KP and Balochistan regions, the real push began in 2025. This was around the same time that the TTP and BLA clashed heavily with the Pakistani security forces. The establishment was so busy with these groups that it failed to gather any intelligence on the ISPP, officials say.

It was during this period that the ISPP began reaching out to disaffected members within the TTP and actively sought to recruit them. The effort reportedly proved successful, with more than 100 disgruntled operatives joining its ranks.

Officials say the ISPP is backed by substantial financial resources, giving it considerable operational flexibility. The Islamic State is a transnational operator, and this has helped in bringing in funds in large numbers. Officials also note that the group makes effective use of its publications, including newsletters and magazines, to expand its reach and influence. Its latest magazine, “Invade,” was launched to engage a wider international audience and strengthen its global outreach.

With ample funding and an expanding international network, the ISPP has stepped up the frequency of its attacks in Pakistan, with security personnel and state assets emerging as its principal targets. According to another official, most large-scale attacks are currently concentrated in KP and Balochistan. However, there are concerns that the group may seek to extend its operations into other parts of the country.

"If that happens, Islamabad could face a far more complex security challenge that may prove increasingly difficult to contain," the official warned.

The official said the ISPP has been able to exploit what he described as a major weakness in Pakistan’s security apparatus, namely the failure of its intelligence network to accurately identify emerging threats. As a result, several attacks attributed to the TTP in intelligence assessments were, in fact, carried out by the ISPP, the official claimed.

Officials say that the ISPP has its road map laid out. The main intention is to weaken the government in Pakistan and hit the security forces hard. The incidents of sectarian violence, suicide bombings, and targeted murders are on the rise.

In addition to Balochistan and KP, the ISPP has been fast expanding in Quetta as well. The outfit has a set of very resilient fighters who are backed by funds, digital reach, and modern infrastructure.

Observers say that the Pakistan establishment and the army, in particular, made a mistake in trusting the ISPP. They managed to convince the top leadership to help them in Balochistan and KP. The May 5 murder of Deobandi cleric Sheikh Idrees Tarangzai in KP was a signal that the cadres were not happy with the alignment with Pakistan.

It was Sheikh who would meet with the top leadership and urge them to join the security forces. Post these meetings, he would praise the Pakistan army and Field Marshal Asim Munir. The murder was a message that the Islamic State Pakistan Province would not back the Pakistan security forces, and it would treat Islamabad as an enemy and not an ally, the experts point out.

New Delhi, June 6 (SocialNews.XYZ) Both the Lashkar-e-Tayiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad are running active women's wings in Pakistan. The Jaish-e-Mohammad hastened the formation of this wing after it suffered mighty blows during Operation Sindoor.

While the Jaish-e-Mohammad runs its women’s wing under the banner of Jamaat-ul-Muminaat (JuM), the Lashkar-e-Tayiba has two women's wings meant for different purposes. The Lashkar-e-Tayiba’s Dukhtaran-e-Toiba (DeT) focuses on combat training for women, while the Taiyabbat operates as a social, ideological and political wing to mobilise women.

At the time of the formation, both Masood Azhar and Hafiz Saeed had said that these wings would also groom women to become suicide bombers who would eventually be used in Jammu and Kashmir.

However, the latest reports by the Indian Intelligence agencies suggest that on the combat front, these women's wings have not made too much progress. Many women have been reluctant to join these outfits as they are not interested in becoming suicide bombers.

An Intelligence Bureau official said that while the women have been reluctant to take part in attacks, they readily agreed to play recruiters and spread radical messages on social media. Basically, these wings are operating more as propaganda machines. Another reason why the combat operations have not taken off is that both the Lashkar-e-Tayiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad are reeling from the losses they suffered during Operation Sindoor. This indicates that the primary focus remains on reviving the men’s wing rather than promoting the women’s wing, an official said.

Officials say that the women's outfits may not have taken off as the leadership or the ISI would have expected them to. This does not give us a reason to remain complicit, as the women are extremely good at recruitment and spreading Jihadi ideology. The leadership of the Lashkar-e-Tayiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad are making a heavy push to ensure that women can recruit in large numbers. They are being instructed to tap their family members, mainly men and rope them into the outfit.

Another official said that the agencies are scanning social media accounts to see what the members of these women's wings are posting. They are not only targeting the youth in Pakistan, but are actively trying to reach out to people, especially in Jammu and Kashmir.

The official said that the Lashkar-e-Tayiba’s women’s wing in particular has been instructed to focus more on recruitment in Jammu and Kashmir. The ISI wants recruitments to take place on a very large scale. This would align with its plans of having a fresh set of over-ground workers (OWG) and foot soldiers.

With a large number of OWGs arrested and many being under the scanner of the police, the ISI felt the need for a complete reset, officials say.

On the other hand, the focus of the JuM is very limited when it comes to Kashmir. It has been focusing on radicalisation and recruitment, both offline and online. The Jaish-e-Mohammad is trying to rebuild the outfit with Pakistanis who they would eventually launch in Jammu and Kashmir, officials also point out. To further the recruitment drive, the women operatives use multiple tactics. It is never hardcore radicalisation like that done by members of the men’s wing. They build a narrative around false atrocities in Kashmir.

Another official said that the name of slain Hizbul Mujahideen Burhan Wani comes up a lot during the recruitments being undertaken by the members of the Taiyabbat. They project Burhan as a hero who was wronged by the Indian security agencies.

The official said that Burhan did have a massive following when he was alive. Kashmir witnessed unprecedented violence following his death. These women recruits are trying to drum up emotions of the past as a recruitment tool.

Officials say that the ISI is aware that raising a massive combat force is not too easy. The agency wants to focus more on reshaping the men’s wings and use the women-led outfits to focus more on radicalisation and, more importantly, recruitment, the official also pointed out.

New Delhi, June 6 (SocialNews.XYZ) Four terror suspects linked to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the Mumbai underworld network are scheduled to be produced before Delhi’s Patiala House Court on Saturday following the completion of their police custody period.

The accused -- Harvinder Singh, Manjeet Singh, Gagandeep Singh and Ang Kami Lama -- were earlier presented before the court on May 30, when they were remanded to seven days of police custody for further interrogation.

The four were arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell in connection with an alleged Pakistan-backed terror module that investigators claim had operational links with Dawood Ibrahim’s D-Company network. According to the police, the accused were allegedly acting under the direction of ISI operatives and handlers based in Pakistan.

During coordinated operations carried out across Delhi and several northern states, investigators recovered a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition from the suspects.

The seizure included Pakistan-manufactured hand grenades, Glock pistols and a large number of live cartridges.

According to the probe conducted so far, the terror module had allegedly conducted reconnaissance of several sensitive locations, including government installations, security establishments and crowded religious places in major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai and various locations in Punjab.

Investigators believe the accused were gathering Intelligence and assessing potential targets as part of a larger conspiracy.

In a related development, another key accused in the case, Huzaifa Ahmed Hashmi, was arrested separately and brought from Mumbai to Delhi on transit remand. He was subsequently produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate Mridul Gupta, who granted the Delhi Police an additional five days of custody for further questioning.

Police officials have alleged that the accused maintained links with the Dawood Ibrahim network and were involved in planning terror-related activities in multiple metropolitan centres, including the national Capital.

So far, the Delhi Police has arrested a total of nine individuals in connection with the alleged terror module. Of these, five accused are currently in police custody as agencies continue their investigation into what they describe as a Pakistan-sponsored network with links to organised crime and terrorism.

Further details are awaited.

New Delhi, June 5 (SocialNews.XYZ) In a setback to former Popular Front of India (PFI) Chairman E. Abubacker and other office-bearers of the banned outfit, a Delhi court has ordered framing of charges against them in a National Investigation Agency (NIA) case alleging a conspiracy to overthrow the secular democratic Government of India and establish an Islamic Caliphate by 2047 through violent means.

Dismissing the discharge pleas moved by several accused, Additional Sessions Judge Prashant Sharma of the Patiala House Courts held that the material placed on record raised a “grave suspicion” against the accused and warranted framing of charges under various provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

According to the NIA FIR registered in April 2022, the accused, acting through the PFI and its National Executive Council (NEC), conspired to establish an Islamic Caliphate under Sharia law in India by waging an armed struggle against the State.

"The case of the prosecution... is that the accused, acting through and on behalf of the Popular Front of India and its National Executive Council, conspired to overthrow the secular democratic Government of India and to establish an Islamic Caliphate under Sharia law in India by or before the year 2047," the court said.

The judge further said that at the stage of framing of charge, the court is not required to record a finding of guilt but only determine whether the material on record discloses grave suspicion against the accused.

"At the stage of framing of charge, the Court is not called upon to record a finding of guilt. Where the material placed on record discloses grave suspicion against the accused, the Court must frame the charge," the order said.

Rejecting the contention that no terrorist act had been committed, the court said that offences relating to raising funds, conspiracy, preparation, organising arms training camps and recruitment for terrorist acts under the UAPA do not require completion of a terrorist act.

The court also declined to accept the defence argument that the protected witnesses were unreliable, observing that their credibility could only be tested during trial.

"Trustworthiness of a witness can only be tested during trial, especially when these witnesses are subjected to cross-examination. At the stage of framing of charges, the Court has to accept the statements on the face of it," the order said.

Dealing with the prosecution's claims against the PFI, the court recorded that the organisation was alleged to have recruited and radicalised Muslim youth, conducted weapons-training camps across several states, raised funds through various channels, and attempted to procure firearms.

The order further noted the prosecution case that the conspiracy involved establishing an Islamic Caliphate by 2047 and included allegations relating to recruitment, radicalisation, weapons training, funding and support to ISIS by some of the accused.

In Abubacker's case, the court referred to statements of protected witnesses and documentary material relied upon by the NIA, including allegations relating to recruitment, weapons training and expansion of the organisation.

Holding that the material disclosed grave suspicion against him, the court said: "Accordingly grave suspicion is made out against A-6 (Abubacker)."

The court ordered that Abubacker be charged for offences punishable under Sections 13, 17, 18, 18A and 18B of the UAPA and Sections 120B, 121A, 122 and 153A of the IPC.

The order similarly found sufficient material to frame charges against PFI chairman O.M.A. Salam, vice chairman E.M. Abdul Rahiman, general secretary Anis Ahmed and several other senior functionaries under various provisions of the UAPA and IPC.

The PFI itself has also been arrayed as an accused in the case.

The PFI was banned by the Union government under the UAPA in September 2022. Abubacker, who was arrested by the NIA on September 22, 2022, has been in judicial custody since October 6, 2022.

In January last year, the Supreme Court had declined to grant him medical bail after examining reports submitted by a panel of doctors from AIIMS Delhi.

A Bench headed by Justice M.M. Sundresh had said it was not inclined to release him on medical grounds at that stage, while granting him liberty to seek relief before the trial court if his condition worsened. The top court had also rejected his alternative plea seeking house arrest.

New Delhi, June 5 (SocialNews.XYZ) Rejecting Pakistan's criticism of two river projects, India on Friday reiterated its consistent stance on the Indus Water Treaty (IWT), saying that the agreement remains in abeyance until Pakistan completely stops cross-border terrorism.

The reaction from Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) came after Pakistan said India was seeking to "weaponise water" by advancing the Chenab-Beas Link Tunnel Project and plans to flush silt from the Salal Dam reservoir.

"We have suspended the Indus Waters Treaty and kept it in abeyance until Pakistan completely stops cross-border terrorism," MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said while replying to a question on Pakistan Foreign Ministry's statement during a weekly media briefing in New Delhi on Friday.

When asked about Pakistan Foreign Ministry's statement on Swiss Ambassador's visit to Jammu and Kashmir, Jaiswal responded, "The Swiss Ambassador visited Jammu and Kashmir and held several meetings there. Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India, and the Swiss Ambassador, or any other ambassador, is free to visit."

Last month, India had rejected the latest award issued by the "illegally constituted" Court of Arbitration (CoA) - purportedly constituted under the IWT 1960 - as "null and void".

"The illegally constituted so-called Court of Arbitration (CoA) has, on 15 May 2026, issued what it termed an award concerning maximum pondage supplemental to the award on issues of general interpretation of the Indus Waters Treaty," MEA spokesperson stated in response to media queries on the issue.

"India categorically rejects the present so-called award, just as it has firmly rejected all prior pronouncements of the illegally constituted CoA. India has never recognised the establishment of this so-called CoA. Any proceeding, award, or decision issued by it is null and void. India’s decision to hold the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance remains in force," he added.

The IWT was signed between India and Pakistan on September 19, 1960, concerning the utilisation of the waters of the Indus system rivers.

After last year's heinous Pahalgam terror attack, India exercised its rights as a sovereign nation under international law and placed IWT in abeyance until Pakistan credibly and irrevocably abjured its support for cross-border terrorism.

"Until such time that the Treaty is in abeyance, India is no longer bound to perform any of its obligations under the Treaty. No Court of Arbitration, much less this illegally constituted arbitral body which has no existence in the eye of law, has the jurisdiction to examine the legality of India’s actions in exercise of its rights as a sovereign," the MEA had stated in June 2025.

Last year, the MEA had slammed the "so-called" Court of Arbitration for issuing what it characterized as a "supplemental award” on its competence concerning the Kishenganga and Ratle hydroelectric projects in the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

"India has never recognised the existence in law of this so-called Court of Arbitration, and India’s position has all along been that the constitution of this so-called arbitral body is in itself a serious breach of the Indus Waters Treaty and consequently any proceedings before this forum and any award or decision taken by it are also for that reason illegal and per se void," the MEA had then responded to the CoA's move.

India questioned such "charades" at Pakistan's behest, terming them as "desperate attempts" to escape accountability for its role as the global epicentre of terrorism.

"Pakistan's resort to this fabricated arbitration mechanism is consistent with its decades-long pattern of deception and manipulation of international forums," the MEA stated earlier.

New Delhi, June 5 (SocialNews.XYZ) There is a varied difference in the way terror operations are conducted in North and South India. In the North of India, the ISI makes an aggressive push to launch multiple attacks at important locations. However, in South India, the push is a soft one. The ISI has maintained this style, with the sole focus being on radicalisation and demographic changes

. Two key states that the ISI has focused on are Tamil Nadu and Kerala in South India. The Intelligence agencies have on several occasions flagged ISI operations in Sri Lanka aimed at hitting the South Indian states. With the ISI looking to increase operations down South, the Indian Intelligence agencies are keeping a close watch on Batticaloa district, which is described as the centre of Wahhabism in Sri Lanka.

An Intelligence Bureau official said that this district is an area of concern not just for South India, but also for Sri Lanka. The official said that a few politicians who control this district have ties with Saudi Foundations. These ties have led to an increase in Wahhabi activity in the district. The official warned that these elements would look to increase activity in the Southern Indian states also.

Another official said that with the ISI backing, these elements would try what they did in Kerala. Since the early 2000s, there has been a flurry of Wahhabi-related activity in the state, thanks to scores of preachers visiting there. With the Intelligence agencies flagging such activity that led to a mindset change among a large number of people, the Wahhabis from Saudi Arabia gradually reduced their visits to Kerala. However, now through elements in the Batticaloa district, the ISI hopes to push more Wahhabi culture into Tamil Nadu.

A clear pattern to make South India a soft target began in the 2000s. However, such activity soared in 2013, and the following year, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) busted an ISI module involved in spying. In September 2014, Arun Selvarajan became the third person to be arrested by the agency for ISI links. Before this, one Mohammed Sakir Hussain was arrested in Chennai, followed by Mohammed Hussain Suleman in Malaysia.

Investigations showed that the plot was to recruit and radicalise youth from the Maldives and then instruct them to carry out attacks on the US and Israeli Consulates in Chennai and Bengaluru.

Another official said that in addition to making a push to increase Wahhabi-related activity in Tamil Nadu, the ISI has also been trying to tap former LTTE operatives to carry out attacks in South India. The ISI is getting in touch with these elements and reminding them of the military action taken by Sri Lanka against the LTTE.

The ISI has been trying to exploit the anti-state sentiment that these people have and use this as a recruitment tool. Officials say that while the push for espionage and terror modules is ongoing, the worry is about the cultural changes that the Wahhabi elements are trying to bring about in South India. This explains why the agencies have their eyes on the activities in Batticaloa district, the official added.

This district has had a history of nurturing and promoting radical elements. Zahran Hashim, the mastermind of the Sri Lankan Easter Bombings, hails from the Batticaloa district. Investigations showed that Hashim rose to prominence in this district, and he was heavily radicalised. He had even visited Tamil Nadu on many occasions with the sole intention of radicalising the youth.

Investigators say that he did manage to undertake a radicalisation drive, and both the Coimbatore and Mangaluru bombers, Jamesha Mubin and Mohammad Shariq, were his prodigies. Another area of concern is the rise in activity by the Rabita Trust. Officials say that the ISI is trying to use this trust to spread its radical ideology in Tamil Nadu and other southern states. The trust has maintained close ties with Al-Qaeda leaders, including Ayman al-Zawahiri, Ayman al-Zawahiri and Sobhi Abdel Aziz Mohamed el Gohary Abu Sinna.

The Rabita Trust is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) based in Pakistan, which has provided logistical and financial support to Al-Qaida. The Rabita Trust has also had close ties to Al-Qaida leaders and other listed individuals and entities, including Aiman Muhammed Rabi al-Zawahiri, Sobhi Abdel Aziz Mohamed el Gohary Abu Sinna (deceased), Makhtab al-Khidamat and the Armed Islamic Group, the United Nations database states.

Officials say that with the help of such entities, the ISI is making a hard push to infiltrate states such as Tamil Nadu. The approach is two-pronged, with the primary focus now being on widespread radicalisation. Eventually, the plan is to recruit people from Sri Lanka and the Maldives and then hit the southern states, the official also said.

Kolkata, June 5 (SocialNews.XYZ) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday arrested a Trinamool Congress Zilla Parishad office-bearer in East Midnapore district of West Bengal, which is the native district of Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari.

The arrested person has been identified as Samsul Islam, the Trinamool Congress office-bearer (health unit) of East Midnapore Zilla Parishad.

He has been arrested in connection with rioting along with his associates during elections for the office-bearer posts of the cooperative bank in the district.

During officer-bearers’ elections for Tamluk-Ghatal Card Bank recently, crude bombs were hurled in front of the polling station of Didaruddin High School at Nandigram in the district.

Several workers and local leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were severely injured in the rioting. Massive tension had broken out in the entire locality following the violence.

Considering the seriousness of the matter, the NIA sleuths were given charge of the investigation in the matter. The role of the Zilla Parishad office-bearer behind that rioting was under the scanner of the investigating officials of the central agency for quite some time.

He was absconding after the NIA took charge of the investigation. Finally, sources aware of the development said, on receipt of specific information, the central agency sleuths started massive raid and search operations in a particular area in East Midnapore district. He was tracked and arrested early Friday morning.

He will be presented in a district court in Haldia in the same district later in the day, and counsel for the central investigating agency will seek NIA custody for him, sources said.

It is learnt that the NIA sleuths are trying to track some other associates of the arrested Trinamool Congress leader, who were also engaged in that rioting and are also absconding.

The investigating officials said that their whereabouts could be tracked by interrogating the arrested Trinamool Congress leader.

Expressing relief over the arrest of Islam, the local people have claimed that he terrorised people living in the area and was involved in all sorts of nefarious activities, including rioting, issuing threats, extortion and rampant corruption in defalcating funds allotted to East Midnapore Zilla Parishad.

New Delhi, June 5 (SocialNews.XYZ) A special National Investigation Agency (NIA) Court has convicted and sentenced three accused in a 2018 terror conspiracy case linked with the banned Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGH) terrorist organisation, involving the seizure of weapons and explosive materials from an educational institute hostel room in Punjab's Jalandhar, central agency officials said.

The NIA special court at Mohali in Punjab, which on Monday convicted Zahid Gulzar, Yasir Rafiq Bhat and Mohammad Idris Shah in the case, on Thursday pronounced the sentences against them.

The sentences against the three range from five, seven and 10 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) under different provisions of Indian Penal Code, Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, Arms Act and Explosive Substances Act, leading to a maximum of 10 years of RI.

One accused, Suhail Ahmed Bhat, has been acquitted in the case that was originally registered by the Punjab Police in October 2018, and handed over to NIA on the directions of the Union government in November the same year.

The case originated when a Punjab Police search operation at the hostel of CT Institute at Shahpur in Jalandhar, led to the seizure of arms, ammunition and explosive material from the room occupied by the accused.

The seizure included an AK-56 rifle, magazines, live cartridges and explosive material.

Investigation by NIA revealed that the accused had entered into a criminal conspiracy to further the activities of the proscribed AGH terror outfit with the aim to wage war against the Union government.

NIA had, during the course of its investigation, collected and examined extensive oral, documentary, electronic and forensic evidence, along with witness testimonies.

A total of 64 witnesses were examined by the prosecution during the trial, which was the successful culmination of the collective efforts of Punjab Police and the NIA.

Chandigarh, June 4 (SocialNews.XYZ) In a major breakthrough against cross-border terror networks, Punjab Police thwarted a terror conspiracy with the arrest of two associates of overseas-based terror operative and recovered one fully assembled and ready to use RDX-based Improvised Explosive Device (IED), weighing approximately 2.5 kg from their possession, said Director General of Police (DGP), Gaurav Yadav, here on Thursday.

Those arrested have been identified as Mani Singh (32), a resident of Gujjarpura in Amritsar, and Abhishek Kumar (28), a resident of Gillwali Gate in Amritsar.

DGP Yadav said the recovered IED was fully assembled and ready for use.

The operation has resulted in the foiling of a nefarious plot aimed at targeting critical public infrastructure in Mohali and averted a potentially catastrophic threat to public safety and security.

The DGP said further investigations are underway to uncover the entire terror network, including handlers, associates, and all linkages involved in the conspiracy.

Sharing operational details, Inspector General of Police (Counter Intelligence), Ashish Choudhary, said acting on credible Intelligence inputs, police teams apprehended both the suspects from near a park opposite YPS Chowk in Mohali.

The two had travelled from Amritsar to Mohali by bus along with the explosive device.

During the operation, the police recovered the RDX-laden IED from their possession, he said, adding that considering the grave threat posed by the device, a bomb disposal squad was summoned at the spot, which neutralised and dismantled the IED.

He said preliminary investigation has revealed that accused Mani Singh had come in contact with a foreign-based handler via social media platform and he also introduced his brother-in-law Abhishek Kumar to him.

During their interactions, the foreign-based handler offered financial assistance in return for carrying out certain tasks and both agreed to work for him owing to their financial difficulties.

A case has been registered under Sections 113 (3) and 61 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act in Mohali.

New Delhi, June 4 (SocialNews.XYZ) Justin Trudeau’s exit as Canadian Prime Minister marked a significant turning point in India-Canada relations. During Trudeau’s tenure, bilateral ties had deteriorated considerably, largely due to differences over the Khalistan issue.

India had repeatedly urged Canada to act against pro-Khalistan elements operating from its soil, but these concerns were often not addressed, with Trudeau facing domestic political constraints. Under Prime Minister Mark Carney, however, both India and Canada have recognised the issue and acknowledged the need to address it.

More importantly, both India and Canada increasingly view Khalistani extremism as a threat to their national security. This changing assessment has prompted Khalistan-linked groups to alter their strategy. Instead of operating primarily from Canada, they are now seeking to expand their activities across multiple countries and are increasingly relying on pressure groups and think tanks to amplify their narrative. Among the organisations drawing attention in this context is the Baku Initiative Group (BIG), a think tank backed by Azerbaijan.

The BIG has traditionally centred its activities around anti-colonial narratives. In recent years, however, it has increasingly organised large-scale events that provide a platform for separatist causes. This aligns with the objectives of Khalistan groups, which continue to advocate for the creation of a separate Khalistan state carved out of Punjab.

According to an official, this reflects a calculated shift in strategy by Khalistan elements. Faced with mounting pressure from India, these groups are seeking new avenues to sustain their activities, having realised that countries such as Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom can no longer be viewed as safe havens.

Khalistan-linked groups are increasingly working with the BIG to amplify their demands on international platforms. “This collaboration forms part of a broader global strategy aimed at keeping the Khalistan movement relevant and visible,” an official said.

As part of these efforts, an event titled “The Baku Conference: Racism and Violence Against Sikhs and Other National Minorities in India: The Realities on the Ground” was held in Baku on January 16.

Global Khalistani figures from Canada, the US and the UK were in attendance along with Ramesh Singh Arora, the Minister for Human Rights and Minority Affairs for Pakistan’s Punjab Province. All those who attended the conference observed a moment of silence for slain terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Further, this think-tank has also published papers such as “The Khalistan Movement: Past Roots, Global Dimensions and Modern Landscape.”

Officials say, “These publications are circulated in international networks. The aim is to widen the reach of the Khalistan movement and drum up an anti-India narrative. Disinfo Lab, a group of researchers who investigate Info-warfare and Psy-war, has amplified this newfound bonhomie in detail.”

It also refers to a conference titled "June 1984, Amritsar Events: India’s Transnational Repression Against Ethnic Minorities in the Context of Genocide." The event was hosted at the same venue in Baku where the January 16 conference had taken place. Notably, Azerbaijan has only a very small Sikh population, making the choice of venue particularly significant.

According to Disinfo Lab, the hosting of international conferences on alleged Sikh genocide by a country with virtually no Sikh community points to a broader state-backed agenda rather than a purely humanitarian concern. The report further argues that the emerging Pakistan-Azerbaijan-Turkey axis plays a significant role in these developments. It notes that both Baku and Islamabad view Armenia as an adversary and have experienced tensions in their relations with India.

The BIG was established on July 6, 2023, at the initiative of Air Centre, an Azerbaijani think tank. The first agenda was to speak out against French colonialism. BIG’s co-publisher is the Sikh Federation International (SFI). In March 2026, the SFI’s legal counsel, Prabjot Singh, drafted a joint report in which he referred to Nijjar as an activist. He also demanded sanctions on India’s Intelligence chiefs, while calling for India’s INTERPOL Red Corner Notices against Khalistani operatives to be treated as persecution.

An Intelligence Bureau official said that Khalistan-linked groups appear to be recalibrating their strategy in response to changing circumstances. In countries such as Canada, these groups have often been associated with incidents of violence. By aligning with organisations such as BIG, they are attempting to present a different image of the movement on international platforms. According to the official, the emphasis is increasingly being placed on claims of persecution and on raising what they describe as human rights concerns relating to Sikhs.

“These efforts bear the hallmarks of a strategy backed and coordinated by Pakistan,” the official said.

Islamabad has been regularly engaging with Azerbaijan in recent years. Pakistan’s Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif recently flew to Baku for the World Urban Forum and set up a joint working group on trade and investment. Pakistan backs Azerbaijan against Armenia in the OIC. In turn, Azerbaijan backs Pakistan by condemning India, as it did post Operation Sindoor. Pakistan also gets Baku’s backing on the Kashmir issue.

Another official says that Azerbaijan appears to be making the same mistake that the UK and Canada had committed.

The Khalistan elements are adept at infiltration. They usually begin by building a narrative around the alleged persecution of Sikhs in India. Over time, they seek to penetrate political systems, as was seen in Canada. The official said that these countries need to view the issue in a broader context. Such elements, comprising terrorists and gangsters, eventually establish narcotics and extortion networks in the countries they infiltrate. “Azerbaijan is the latest destination in this effort,” the official added.

Ahilyanagar, June 4 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has detained four youths from Ahilyanagar district for questioning over their suspected links with Pakistani gangsters, officials said, as a wider operation continues across the state.

The action comes as part of an ongoing ATS crackdown that has been underway for the past two days. According to officials, raids have been conducted at five locations across Maharashtra, and the operation is still in progress.

The investigation is focused on alleged contacts between the detained individuals and Pakistan-based gangsters identified as Shahzad Bhatti and his associate 'Rana Bhai'. Authorities are examining the nature of these communications and whether they were connected to any criminal conspiracy or organised network.

Sources said that Sagar Beg, president of the Shri Ram Sangh in Ahmednagar district, had previously received death threats allegedly issued by Rana and Bhatti. The threats prompted security agencies to intensify their probe and trace possible local connections linked to the gangsters.

During the course of the investigation, ATS officials reportedly uncovered evidence suggesting that the four youths from Ahilyanagar district had been in contact with the two gangsters. Based on these findings, the agency launched coordinated raids and detained the suspects for further interrogation.

Officials said all four individuals have remained in ATS custody since Wednesday, and questioning is continuing to determine the extent of their involvement and the purpose of their alleged communications with the gangsters.

The ATS is also examining digital records, communication trails, and other technical evidence gathered during the raids. Investigators are working to establish whether the suspects were acting independently or as part of a larger network operating across different parts of the state.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of the detained individuals, and no formal arrests have been announced so far. Officials indicated that further action will depend on the findings that emerge from the ongoing investigation.

The ATS has stated that raids and verification exercises at multiple locations are continuing as part of the broader probe.

Officials added that all aspects of the case, including the alleged death threats issued to Sagar Beg and the suspected links between local youths and Pakistan-based gangsters, are being thoroughly investigated.

More details are expected to emerge as the inquiry progresses.

New Delhi, June 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) Indian agencies have intensified efforts to dismantle the Dawood Ibrahim empire. Investigations and search operations have indicated that he continues to be regarded as one of the most valuable assets of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), particularly in channelling terror funds against India.

Despite advancing age and reported health concerns, Dawood continues to wield considerable influence through a sprawling criminal network with deep roots across India. Investigators say the Dawood syndicate remains heavily involved in the narcotics trade, while also operating fake currency rackets and maintaining a vast network of contract killers.

India’s national security establishment has directed all agencies concerned to pursue a sustained and coordinated campaign against the Dawood network. The police forces, the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) are working in close coordination to dismantle the syndicate’s operations and financial infrastructure.

“The objective is to systematically choke the network’s activities and ensure that its operational presence on Indian soil is brought to an end,” an official said.

Another official said that there are back-to-back operations that are taking place against the Dawood syndicate, adding that the primary aim is to dismantle the drug network. This is said to be the backbone of the syndicate, and the money earned from this trade is being used to fund terror activities against India.

According to officials, Dawood's network is required to hand over nearly 40 per cent of its profits in return for protection and the unhindered movement of narcotics through Pakistan. “The syndicate's annual earnings are estimated to be between Rs 15,000 crore and Rs 25,000 crore,” the officials claimed.

A substantial portion (40 per cent) of this revenue, officials allege, is diverted towards financing anti-India terror activities, underlining the scale of the security challenge posed by the network.

An Intelligence Bureau official said that the current focus is mainly on the drug empire. Once this is knocked down, the syndicate would begin to crumble. These crackdowns on Dawood’s drug syndicate align perfectly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat or a drug-free India. The programme was initially launched in 272 highly vulnerable districts across the country in August 2020.

The official said that Indian agencies have been steadily tightening the noose around the drug syndicate through a series of coordinated operations. A breakthrough came with the extradition of Salim Dola, a close aide of Dawood, who allegedly managed a significant part of the syndicate's narcotics network. Investigators say information gathered during his interrogation has provided crucial leads, helping agencies identify and dismantle drug trafficking networks operating across the country.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday conducted searches at multiple locations in Maharashtra and Gujarat as part of a money laundering probe linked to Dola. The ED raided 20 locations in Mumbai besides Surat, Rajkot and Ankleshwar in Gujarat.

In addition to targeting the narcotics syndicate, the agencies are also keeping a watch on Dawood’s henchmen and sharpshooters. Officials say that these persons are not only being used for extortion rackets. Over the last couple of months, they have been diverted from their main activity and are being tasked with executing terror attacks. They have become part of the ISI’s larger strategy of blending the underworld with terror groups. The recent arrest of eight associates linked to Dawood revealed that they were being tasked from Karachi to execute terror attacks in Mumbai and Delhi.

The NIA, on the other hand, is chasing the fake currency syndicate and is probing multiple cases. The fake currency racket in India is also under the control of the Dawood network, and funds raised from this trade, too, are being diverted to fund the ISI’s terror, officials say. This is also a racket that generates hundreds of crores of rupees. When it comes to fake currency, Dawood has his men across the country. The arrangement is a 50:50 sharing between Dawood and the men running the trade in various parts of India.

Officials say there are clear directives to maintain sustained pressure on the Dawood Ibrahim syndicate and continue targeting its financial and operational networks. If the current momentum is maintained, the organisation could face a serious decline in its ability to function, an official said. The official added that such a crackdown would also deal a significant blow to ISI, which would find it increasingly difficult to generate funds for terror proxies that have long been used to target India's interests.

New Delhi, June 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is investigating the Pahalgam terror attack, has indicated that it will examine possible links between Pakistan-backed terrorist organisations and the Palestinian militant group Hamas as part of its probe.

Investigators will probe whether the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and The Resistance Front maintain any operational, financial, or ideological connections with Hamas. The agency is also expected to explore any potential links between the attackers and Al-Qaeda as part of its wider investigation.

India's intelligence agencies have previously flagged the presence of several Hamas leaders in Pakistan. According to intelligence inputs, they were seen interacting with members of Pakistan-based terror outfits, including LeT and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and are believed to have participated in several meetings with leaders of these groups.

An official said the NIA is examining a crucial aspect of the Pahalgam terror attack investigation. According to the official, Indian security agencies have repeatedly highlighted efforts by Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to forge ties between terror groups operating under its influence and internationally active extremist organisations.

"If such links are established, it would indicate that Pakistan-backed terror networks are seeking to involve internationally active extremist groups in their campaign against India," the official said.

Ahead of the Pahalgam attack, intelligence agencies had noted the presence of several Hamas leaders in Pakistan. Officials said interactions between these figures and members of Pakistan-based terror groups appeared to extend beyond ideological exchanges and included discussions on operational matters.

Another official said that groups such as Hamas and Al-Qaeda possess significantly greater operational capabilities than Pakistan-based outfits like LeT and JeM. Hamas has been engaged in prolonged and sustained conflict with Israel for years, making it a battle-hardened organisation. The official noted that, unlike many Pakistan-backed groups that have largely relied on sporadic attacks, Hamas has gained extensive combat experience through continuous warfare, enhancing its tactical proficiency and operational effectiveness.

“The Jaish or the Lashkar, on the other hand, have focused on specific attacks, largely in Jammu and Kashmir. They have not engaged in a continued war, unlike Hamas,” the official said.

An Intelligence Bureau official said that this plan of bringing in international players is a sign of something big that the ISI is planning. “It wants its terror proxies to launch attacks on India on the scale at which Hamas does on Israel,” the official said.

If the ISI succeeds in bringing together Hamas with LeT and JeM, Indian security agencies could face a far more serious challenge. India has considerable experience in dealing with the methods and attack patterns traditionally employed by Lashkar and Jaish. However, if these groups begin adopting the tactics and operational strategies used by Hamas, security forces may find themselves confronting a new and more complex form of warfare that could prove difficult to counter in its initial stages.

Officials say the ISI's strategy is to keep Indian security forces continuously engaged through sustained attacks carried out by terror groups. This is a sign that Pakistan does not want its army to engage in a direct battle, as this would lead to escalation internationally.

“However, when the terror group is tasked with this battle, the dynamics and optics would be different,” an official said.

Since the Pahalgam attack and the subsequent Operation Sindoor, Pakistan has been looking for options whereby it can continuously bleed India. Operation Sindoor proved that the Lashkar and Jaish are unable to handle a big conflict, as they were beaten down by the armed forces. Both groups lost significant infrastructure during the operation.

Officials warn that the ISI has been desperately pushing international players to train its terror proxies. The official said that there had been meetings before the Pahalgam attack. Post the attack, at least four meetings between the LeT, JeM, and Hamas have been held in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan, officials say.

The Intelligence agencies learnt that three months before the Pahalgam attack, Hamas leaders were seen at a public rally in Pakistan along with the JeM and LeT leaders.

An official said that, apart from probing possible links, the NIA is also studying the operational similarities between the attack methods of Hamas and the manner in which the Pahalgam attack was carried out by the terrorists. An initial assessment drew similarities in terms of planning, coordination, and execution. These operational parallels are expected to form an important part of the NIA's investigation, the official added.

Srinagar, June 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Counter Intelligence Kashmir wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday carried out raids at multiple places across the Valley in connection with terror-related cases.

Officials said that the Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) started searches at eight locations across six districts of the union territory in connection with an ongoing investigation into Pakistan-sponsored terrorist networks, sleeper cells and activities related to recruitment, radicalisation and facilitation of terrorism.

The official said these searches are being conducted in connection with FIR No. 02/2015 registered at Police Station CIK Srinagar under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act, Sections 15, 16, 17 and 19 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Section 7/25 of the Arms Act.

“Based on recent intelligence inputs, technical analysis and sustained investigation, eight search locations were identified, including two in Srinagar, two in Bandipora, one each in Anantnag, Kulgam, Kupwara and Sopore area of Baramulla district,” the officials said.

The investigation by the Counter Intelligence suggests that the suspects were in contact with Pakistan-based terrorist handlers through encrypted communication platforms and were allegedly involved in spreading extremist propaganda, radicalisation activities and facilitating terror-related operations.

The searches are aimed at recovering incriminating material, establishing terrorist linkages, identifying associates, facilitators and overground workers (OGWs), and generating actionable intelligence to further strengthen the investigation and initiate appropriate legal action, sources added.

Officials said that all necessary legal formalities have been completed and search warrants were obtained from the competent court. The operations are being carried out in accordance with established legal procedures with adequate security arrangements and technical support.

The counterintelligence wing of the J&K Police functions under the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and deals exclusively with cases related to terrorism, sabotage, subversion and terror networking in the union territory.

The counterintelligence wing has its own police station where FIRs in terror-related cases are registered and subsequently investigated.

Islamabad, June 2 (SocialNews.XYZ) Security situation in Pakistan deteriorated in May, particularly due to increase in terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, according to the monthly security assessment released by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), local media reported on Tuesday.

The latest findings by PICSS showcased increase in terror attacks during May after a brief period of relative decline, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. The sharp rise in attacks, casualties, suicide bombings and kidnappings suggest that security challenges remain severe.

As many as 128 terrorist attacks occurred in May in comparison to 101 attacks in April, showcasing a 27 per cent rise. As many as 71 people, 68 security personnel and six members of peace committees were killed while 147 people, 35 security personnel and three peace committee members were injured in terrorist violence in May.

Compared to April, civilian casualties rose from 37 to 71, showcasing a 92 per cent increase while security personnel fatalities rose from 28 to 68, showcasing a 143 rise. Pakistan witnessed six suicide attacks in May, causing death of 34 security personnel and nine civilians.

Balochistan was the most affected province of Pakistan in May as it recorded 71 terrorist attacks, in comparison to 34 in April, showcasing a 109 per cent rise. As many as 54 kidnappings occurred in Pakistan in May. Of them, 52 kidnappings took place in Balochistan alone.

On May 16, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) expressed concern over the sharp deterioration in security in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where residents were increasingly caught between enforced disappearances, targetted killings and militant attacks.

It stated that the alleged kidnapping of the vice-chancellor, pro-vice chancellor and two other Gwadar University employees in Mastung, while travelling from Gwadar to Quetta, sparks questions about the state's ability to secure major highways and protect residents.

In a statement posted on X, HRCP stated, "HRCP is deeply alarmed by the sharp deterioration in security across Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where citizens are increasingly caught between enforced disappearances, targeted killings, and militant attacks."

"In Balochistan, the alleged abduction of the vice-chancellor, pro-vice chancellor, and two other Gwadar University employees in Mastung, while travelling from Gwadar to Quetta, raises serious questions about the state’s ability to secure major highways and protect civilians. HRCP is equally disturbed by the killing of Professor Ghamkhwar Hayat in Noshki earlier today and reminds the government that when teachers and academics are abducted or shot dead, the consequences extend far beyond individual tragedies," it added.

According to the statement shared by HRCP on X, the deadly attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Bannu, Bajaur, and Lakki Marwat highlight worsening pattern of militant violence that continues to take lives indiscriminately.

"In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, deadly attacks in Bannu, Bajaur, and Lakki Marwat, including the bombing of a crowded market in Sarai Naurang, point to a worsening pattern of militant violence that continues to take lives indiscriminately, including those of civilians, police officers and security personnel," HRCP posted on X.

"We urge the state to move beyond statements of condemnation and demonstrate that human life and public spaces can still be protected. The recovery of the missing university officials, credible investigations into all such attacks, and accountability for perpetrators are immediate and necessary first steps," it added.

New Delhi, June 2 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Special Cell of the Delhi Police busted a major terror module being run by the Dawood Ibrahim syndicate. The terror module was planning on carrying out attacks in Delhi and Mumbai, said the police following the arrests of the eight people. During the questioning of the accused, one interesting point that came up is that Clifton Road in Karachi continues to remain a safe house of notorious underworld don, Dawood Ibrahim.

The accused told the police that they mainly interacted with a key aide of Dawood Ibrahim Muddasar Hussain Sayyed, alias Munna Jhingada.

An official said that the very fact that the operation was being handled from Clifton Road area makes it clear that Dawood Ibrahim is residing out there.

This is his most well-known address and the ISI keeps him there are it is his safest bet.

Dawood has many other addresses in Pakistan, but for major operations, he operates from Karachi as this is the safest place for him to be in Pakistan.

The official said that Dawood has five addresses, all in Karachi. While the main one is at Clifton, near the Saudi Mosque in Karachi, the others are the Defence Housing Authority, the Noorbad area and the 617 CP Berar Society. In fact he has two addresses in Clifton itself, the official explained.

Another official said the probe into the busting of the recent module reveals that all Dawood’s close aides reside around him. The drug operations or terror modules being set up are all monitored from the Clifton area, near the Saudi Mosque in Karachi, the official further explained.

Post 'Operation Sindoor', there were reports about Dawood Ibrahim being shifted out. An Intelligence Bureau official said that he was moved around the five addresses briefly to avoid being hit by the Indian armed forces.

However, once the heat was down, he was back at his Clifton address, the official added.

Officials also say that the location is strategic and also safe. It is the ISI's regional directorate in Karachi which oversees his protection.

Although the ISI’s national headquarter is based in Islamabad, Karachi houses a massive ISI Regional Directorate (Field Office).

The probe by the Delhi Police also revealed that several ISI officials were part of the planning. They would regularly meet with Jhingada and give him instructions on how to go about the attacks in India.

Investigators have found that the primary targets of the module were Delhi and Mumbai. They were planning on carrying out attacks in other cities depending on the success of the first wave of attacks, investigations have found.

Jhingada established the command centre near Dawood’s residence. This centre was being fully monitored by the ISI officials. They not only ensured that operations ran smoothly, but also heavily guarded the premises, an official said.

The accused persons said that Jhingada along with his associates monitored every aspect, right from recruitment to procurement of arms.

The Dawood Syndicate had earmarked Rs 20 lakh for the module after the successful completion of the project.

Officials say that they were not being treated as run of the mill terror operatives. This was more of a hit job that the ISI wanted to undertake and this explains why the agency wanted the underworld to be involved.

The probe further revealed that the ISI even ensured that the weapons reach India safely.

Jhingada, with the help of the ISI operatives, managed to drop off hand grenades in Gurdaspur Punjab.

The Delhi Police had seized a large cache of weapons and hand grenades during their operation. The idea was to hurl grenades at important locations, the probe found.

Such an operation is not only easy to execute, but it is also cost effective, an official said.

The accused persons had even asked about their exit plan once the attacks were executed. Jhingada assured them a safe passage into Nepal, following which they would be flown to Dubai.
