New Delhi, May 14 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) has formally approached the Prime Minister of India following the controversial cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 examination.

It has made a five-pronged demand, including exemplary punishment for all culprits involved, including paper setters, printing agency officials and coaching institute operators.

FORDA demanded that these individuals face non-bailable charges and forfeiture of assets.

Second, the association urged the establishment of a fast-track court dedicated to adjudicating cases of examination fraud within 3 months.

FORDA has also pushed for the enactment of a stringent central law that treats examination paper leaks as a cognisable, non-bailable offence, with mandatory minimum sentences, to ensure justice.

The association also urged an immediate shift of NEET-UG to a secure computer-based testing model, similar to IIT-JEE, citing vulnerabilities in the current pen-and-paper format.

FORDA also demanded a speedy re-examination under the oversight of the Supreme Court of India, with full transparency and strict security measures to safeguard students’ academic futures.

In an official letter dated May 13, 2026, the association expressed deep anguish over the recurring systemic failures that have compromised the national medical entrance process.

The association, which represents resident doctors across the country, highlighted that the recent paper leak is not just an administrative lapse but a moral and institutional catastrophe.

This failure has directly impacted nearly 23 lakh aspiring medical students and their families, many of whom have spent years in rigorous preparation.

According to FORDA, these students often sacrifice their social lives and significant financial resources, only to see their futures held hostage by criminal networks operating with impunity.

FORDA pointed out that the current response to such leaks has been reactive rather than preventive, allowing a thriving industry of examination fraud to grow.

The human cost of this disruption is immense, with potential delays in medical college admissions and a severe blow to the credibility of India’s premier medical examination on the global stage.

The Federation of Resident Doctors Association said that there has been a heavy financial burden on families from economically weaker sections who invested in coaching and travel, all of which has been rendered futile.

FORDA has urged the Prime Minister's Office to take immediate action on its urgent demands.

Bengaluru, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s IT Cell In-charge and West Bengal Co-Incharge, Amit Malviya, on Wednesday accused the Congress government in Karnataka of withdrawing the February 5, 2022, order on school uniform and allowing the use of hijab in schools under the guise of permitting "limited traditional and faith-based religious symbols".

In a statement, Malviya alleged that the state government had made the move "surreptitiously" through a new government circular.

He claimed that points 3 and 4 of the government circular, while speaking about preserving school uniforms, explicitly permitted religious symbols and headscarves inside educational institutions.

"This is not empowerment. This is the institutionalisation of religious identity in classrooms and the slow burial of childhood under layers of dogma," Malviya said.

He added that schools and colleges should remain spaces where students grow "free, curious and equal", and accused political parties of reinforcing divisions for vote bank politics.

"Schools must be spaces where young minds grow free, curious and equal, not where political parties reinforce separateness for vote-bank politics," he said.

Targeting the Congress-led state government, Malviya alleged that it was not genuinely concerned about Muslim girls but was instead attempting to appease conservative elements for electoral gains.

"The Congress doesn't care about Muslim girls. It only cares about pandering to the most regressive impulses if it helps consolidate votes," he added.

Malviya also questioned the timing of the government circular, referring to a recent incident involving the alleged cutting of a sacred thread ('Janeu') in a school.

"Weeks after an incident involving the alleged cutting of a sacred thread (Janeu) in a school, instead of enforcing neutrality and discipline uniformly, the state government has chosen appeasement," he claimed.

Reiterating his opposition to religious symbols in classrooms, Malviya said, "Uniform means uniform. Classrooms are for education, not religious signalling."

The Karnataka government on Wednesday withdrew its February 5, 2022, order on school and college uniforms and issued fresh guidelines permitting students to wear "limited traditional and faith-based symbols" along with prescribed uniforms in educational institutions across the state.

Ahmedabad, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) A steady surge in advance property tax payments under the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation rebate scheme has pushed single-day collections past Rs 15 crore, with more than five lakh taxpayers participating since the initiative began.

The civic body introduced the “Advance Property Tax Rebate Scheme” for the financial year 2026-27, offering rebates between 12 per cent and 15 per cent to encourage timely payment by regular taxpayers.

The scheme came into effect on April 9 and will remain open until May 31.

According to Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation data, by 6.15 p.m. on Wednesday, a total of 13,032 taxpayers had paid their advance property tax, generating Rs 15.34 crore in revenue for the civic body.

The figures indicate sustained momentum in daily collections under the scheme.

Since its launch, 5,29,324 taxpayers across Ahmedabad have paid their property tax in advance under the rebate scheme.

During this period, the municipal corporation has extended discounts amounting to Rs 55.95 crore, while overall revenue collected through the initiative has reached Rs 527.75 crore.

Participation has been recorded across all seven administrative zones of the city, with variations in uptake between regions.

The West Zone reported the highest participation, with 1,29,863 taxpayers paying their dues, resulting in rebates worth Rs 14.26 crore.

The North-West Zone followed closely, where 1,21,570 taxpayers availed the scheme, receiving Rs 14.30 crore in discounts.

In the East Zone, 70,281 taxpayers completed payments under the scheme, while 64,690 taxpayers from the South-West Zone participated.

The Central Zone accounted for 49,087 taxpayers, the South Zone recorded 49,136, and the North Zone saw 44,697 taxpayers opting for advance payment.

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation officials noted that the scheme supports both digital and offline payment systems, aimed at improving accessibility and convenience for taxpayers.

The administration has observed consistent participation across residential and commercial property owners since the rebate structure was introduced.

The municipal corporation has reiterated its appeal to eligible taxpayers to make use of the rebate scheme before its expiry on May 31, as collections continue to show strong engagement across the city’s civic zones.

Jerusalem/Abu Dhabi, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu paid a secret visit to the United Arab Emirates during the ongoing Operation Roaring Lion, holding high-level talks with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in what officials are describing as a “historic breakthrough” in bilateral relations.

The development was first disclosed through a statement issued by the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office late on Wednesday night.

Shortly afterwards, the official social media account of the Israeli Prime Minister claimed that the visit had opened a new chapter in ties between the two nations amid heightened regional tensions.

While details of the discussions remain closely guarded, diplomatic observers believe the meeting could carry significant strategic implications for the Middle East, particularly against the backdrop of the military operation known as Operation Roaring Lion.

The timing of the visit has triggered intense speculation among regional analysts, many of whom see it as an indication of deeper security and political coordination between Israel and key Gulf nations.

The UAE has, over the past few years, emerged as one of Israel’s most important regional partners following the normalisation agreements signed under the Abraham Accords. Trade, technology cooperation, tourism and intelligence-sharing between the two countries have steadily expanded despite periodic unrest across the region.

However, Netanyahu’s reported secret trip suggests that discussions may have moved beyond routine diplomatic engagement.

Sources familiar with regional affairs suggest the talks may have focused on security coordination, regional stability, economic partnerships and the evolving geopolitical landscape in West Asia.

Neither the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office nor Emirati authorities have yet released photographs or an official joint statement from the meeting, further adding to the secrecy surrounding the visit.

Political commentators in Israel described the development as one of the most sensitive diplomatic moves undertaken by Netanyahu in recent months. In the UAE, officials have so far maintained silence, though regional media outlets are closely monitoring possible follow-up announcements.

The visit comes at a time when the Middle East is witnessing rapidly shifting alliances, growing security concerns and renewed diplomatic engagement among regional powers.

Imphal, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) A fresh ambush was reported near the Joujangtek Forest Gate in Noney district on Wednesday evening, hours after an earlier attack in Kangpokpi district.

A police official said that a man and his wife, belonging to the Chiru Naga community, were returning home from Imphal in a car when unidentified armed attackers reportedly opened fire on their vehicle near Joujangtek under Khoupum Police Station.

The man, identified as Wilson Thanga of Dolang Chiru village, succumbed to his injuries in the attack, while his wife sustained serious injuries.

Sources said the couple had earlier taken refuge at Nungsai Khunthak, under the jurisdiction of Khoupum Police Station in Noney district.

The latest incident comes just hours after another attack was reported in Kangpokpi district on Wednesday, raising fresh concerns over the prevailing security situation in the hill districts of Manipur.

Security forces rushed to the area following reports of the attack.

No official statement has yet been issued regarding the identity of the attackers or the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Investigation into the matter is reportedly underway.

According to a police official in Imphal, unidentified armed men ambushed two vehicles along Tiger Road in the mountainous Kangpokpi district on Wednesday morning, killing three persons on the spot and injuring four others.

The victims, all belonging to the Kuki community, were travelling in the vehicles when unidentified armed cadres opened fire on them.

The Kuki Students' Organisation stated that all the victims were Baptist Church leaders from the Kuki community.

The Kuki Inpi Manipur, one of the apex bodies of the Kuki community in Manipur, on Wednesday called for a three-day total shutdown across all Kuki-Zo inhabited areas of the state following the killing of three Baptist Church leaders in Kangpokpi district.

Janghaolun Haokip, Secretary for Information and Publicity of Kuki Inpi Manipur, strongly condemned the killings and expressed profound grief over the deaths of Rev. V. Sitlhou, Rev. Kaigoulun and Pastor Paogoulen, while five others sustained injuries in what the organisation described as a “barbaric attack”.

Agartala, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) Manik Saha on Wednesday said the Tripura government has accorded top priority to improving and expanding healthcare services across the state, leading to an 80 per cent reduction in the number of patients referred outside the state for treatment.

The Chief Minister made the remarks while inaugurating the International Nurses Day celebration organised by the Health Department at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala.

Paying tribute to Florence Nightingale, Saha described her as a symbol of humanitarian service that elevated the nursing profession through compassion and dedication.

The Chief Minister, who also holds the Health portfolio, said the state government has initiated several major healthcare projects to further strengthen medical services and ensure better treatment facilities within Tripura.

“A medical university will soon be established in the state. More super-speciality hospitals will also come up. A new medical college will be set up in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council area, along with a new eye hospital,” he said.

Saha, who is himself a dental surgeon, said these initiatives aim to reduce the need for patients to travel outside the state for advanced treatment.

Highlighting the role of nurses in healthcare delivery, the Chief Minister said nurses are the backbone of the medical system, and their contribution is indispensable.

“The uniform of nurses is a matter of pride and responsibility. The more challenges they face, the more experienced and skilled they become, earning greater trust from patients,” he said.

Referring to the COVID-19 pandemic, Saha said doctors and nurses served society like warriors during the crisis.

He also stressed the importance of maintaining healthcare workers' health and well-being.

The Chief Minister further noted that nursing education and employment opportunities have expanded significantly in the state.

He informed that 153 nursing personnel have already been appointed, while recruitment for another 100 posts will be undertaken soon.

Kiran Gitte, Health and Family Welfare Secretary; Debashree Debbarma, Health Director; Anjan Das, Director of Family Welfare and Preventive Medicine; H.P. Sharma, Director of Medical Education; and other senior officials were present at the event.

Kolkata, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) After a demolition drive against illegal construction was launched by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in West Bengal, party MLAs accused the previous Trinamool Congress regime of indulging in corruption and "benefitting" from the construction of illegal buildings.

A day after two people were killed, and five others injured when a fire broke out in a multi-storey building on GJ Khan Road in the Tiljala area of Kolkata, officials of Kolkata Municipal Corporation arrived at the site to demolish the severely damaged structure.

Women and Child Development Minister Agnimitra Paul emphasised that taking such a decision depends on the "intention" of the West Bengal government.

"It depends on your intention. The previous (Trinamool Congress) government didn't have any intention to protect the people of Bengal and to punish the miscreants who have been creating these kinds of high-rise buildings without any government permission," she told IANS.

Paul also said: "I am sure Trinamool Congress people benefitted through these miscreants. Under the table there were many shady dealings because of which these kinds of buildings were made and as a result of which two people have died yesterday."

Referring to the deaths of two workers in the fire, the West Bengal Minister said: "How do you answer to the families of those two people who were poor labourers and had come to work here."

Paul clarified that the new BJP government under Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari won't tolerate any kind of illegal buildings.

"Under CM Adhikari's leadership, this decision has been taken," she asserted.

Paul also said: "From my department, notices have been issued to all municipalities and corporations that whichever building is illegal, sent them a notice. If they have not adhered to government norms, we will give them time and still if they can't document, we will need to take steps."

Echoing similar view, BJP MP Rahul Sinha said: "The action against the construction of illegal buildings has begun and it will continue. The reason is that the Trinamool Congress has destroyed the entire system using 'cut-money'."

"Slowly, this (current BJP) government is determined to bring that system back on track. That is why our Chief Minister (Suvendu Adhikari) has immediately ordered that illegal constructions should be demolished," he added.

Sinha cautioned that in the future too, the state government won't tolerate any kind of illegal work.

Bengaluru, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Wednesday announced a major relaxation in building violation norms in Bengaluru, increasing the permissible limit for deviations in height, FAR and setback rules from 5 per cent to 15 per cent.

Addressing a press conference at the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) headquarters, Shivakumar said occupancy certificates would be issued for buildings with violations up to 15 per cent after collection of penalties.

The move comes in the backdrop of Supreme Court directions barring electricity and water supply connections to buildings that do not possess occupancy certificates.

“The Cabinet will soon take a decision to address this issue. We are not legalising illegalities. Due to land scarcity and rapid urbanisation, many property owners have constructed buildings without leaving proper setbacks,” Shivakumar said.

He pointed out that existing laws already allow setback relaxations of up to 50 per cent for smaller sites measuring 20x30, 30x40 and 40x60 feet.

“We are now providing a 15 per cent relaxation within the legal framework,” he added.

The Deputy Chief Minister also criticised the earlier regularisation framework introduced under Section 38D by the previous BJP government in 2020, stating that the scheme had failed because the charges imposed on property owners were too high.

As part of the new initiative, the government will launch a One-Time Settlement (OTS) scheme from June 15, allowing property owners to apply for regularisation over a three-month period.

According to Shivakumar, the government plans to allocate 100 days for submission of applications, another 100 days for scrutiny and additional time for payment procedures. The entire process is expected to be completed by June 2027.

Applicants who apply within the first three months will receive a 50 per cent concession on regularisation charges. For example, property owners required to pay 10 per cent of the guidance value will need to pay only 5 per cent.

"If people do not utilise this opportunity, legal action will have to be initiated. BDA has already taken possession of properties worth Rs 2,000 crore,” he warned.

Shivakumar also announced that 18,000 sites would be allotted to landowners who had surrendered land for the Shivaram Karanth Layout project.

He said 3,052 landowners had contributed land for the project, but allotments had been delayed due to legal and ownership complications.

“After obtaining court approval, we are now allotting sites to landowners. The process will begin from May 15 through a software system developed by the Centre for e-Governance,” he said.

Landowners holding one acre or more will also be given the option of receiving larger consolidated plots suitable for high-rise developments.

Marking the 50th anniversary of the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), the government will organise a “Green Bengaluru” plantation drive on June 27, coinciding with Kempegowda Jayanti, he further announced.

The Deputy Chief Minister said students, organisations, government employees and members of the public would participate in planting 15 lakh saplings across Bengaluru in a single day.

Shivakumar said nearly 80 per cent of affected landowners had already consented to the first phase of the Bengaluru Business Corridor project, while notifications had been issued for the second phase.

The proposed 33-km corridor connecting Hosur Road and Mysuru Road will be developed in south Bengaluru, he said.

He claimed the compensation package being offered to landowners was among the best in the country and included Transferable Development Rights (TDR), commercial land alongside roads and FAR benefits.

“We cannot denotify this project under any circumstances,” he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister further announced the sale of 1,900 BDA apartments constructed in Whitefield.

The 1-BHK apartments measuring 760 sq ft are priced at around Rs 66.86 lakh, while 3-BHK apartments measuring 1,733 sq ft are priced at Rs 1.44 crore. Applications for the apartments will be invited from May 15.

Shivakumar said the government was continuing efforts to reduce Bengaluru’s traffic congestion through major infrastructure projects.

A 2.2-km six-lane tunnel road near Hebbal Junction will pass close to the University of Agricultural Sciences campus. The project has reportedly been awarded to Rithwik Tunnel Company with a deadline of 18 months for completion.

Additionally, a 1.7-km four-lane elevated corridor will be built near Mekhri Circle. Foundation stone ceremonies for both projects are expected later this month.

He also announced that a 10.77-km road constructed at a cost of Rs 631 crore in Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout would be inaugurated within the next 15 days.

Kolkata, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) With the newly elected Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in West Bengal, a bulldozer was used to demolish an illegal factory in a residential building in Tiljala area of Kolkata on Wednesday where a fire broke out killing two persons.

The fire broke out shortly after 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

The demolition action on the factory began within 30 hours of the fire incident.

The new BJP-led state government has already received the initial report on the Tiljala fire incident.

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said on Wednesday afternoon that the factory was running illegally.

He ordered the demolition of the illegal infrastructure within a day following which the demolition of the factory began.

Police forces were deployed in the area to ensure that no untoward situation arises during the demolition of the factory.

Central armed forces were also deployed at the site during the demolition drive.

On Tuesday afternoon, a fire broke out in a leather factory on the second floor of a multi-storey building at GJ Khan Road in Tiljala of Topsia area.

The area falls under Tiljala police station.

The fire had spread quickly following which two people died in the incident. Three more persons are undergoing treatment in the hospital suffering with severe burn injuries.

The area adjacent to the building was barricaded on Wednesday afternoon.

The new state government had formed an inquiry committee on Tuesday to investigate how the incident took place.

Based on that report, Chief Minister Adhikari said on Wednesday afternoon that the Tiljala factory had no building plan and was operating illegally.

The general fire safety measures were also not in place.

The police have already arrested the owner of the leather factory, Zafar Nishar, in connection with the fire incident.

After the Tiljala incident, the Chief Minister ordered to cut off the water lines of all illegal and dangerous factories in Kolkata.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Bengal Municipal Affairs Minister Agnimitra Paul said that notices are being sent to illegal buildings that do not have a fire license or no objection certificate.

The owners of those buildings will first be given a chance to rectify the situation.

Even after that, if the rules are not followed, action will be taken as per the instructions of the Chief Minister, Minister Agnimitra Paul added.

Bhopal, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) The National Green Tribunal on Tuesday directed the Harda district administration to submit detailed reports on compensation paid to victims and funds recovered from those accused in the 2024 Harda firecracker factory blast case, as the Tribunal continued hearing matters related to relief for seriously injured victims.

Hearing the matter in Bhopal, the National Green Tribunal’s Central Zone bench asked the administration to provide date-wise details of the amounts recovered from the Project Proponent, including the mode of deposit.

The Tribunal also sought a category-wise report on compensation disbursed to victims, including the names of beneficiaries and the amounts paid to each beneficiary.

The case is currently focused on compensation for people who suffered serious injuries in the blast, which was one of Madhya Pradesh’s deadliest industrial accidents in recent years.

Lawyers representing the victims told the Tribunal that the administration has not made adequate efforts to identify and reach all 64 seriously injured persons affected in the tragedy.

According to the victims’ side, documents related to only 26 injured persons have so far been collected and submitted to the district administration for medical verification and compensation assessment.

The counsel also raised objections over the functioning of the medical board constituted by the Harda administration.

They alleged that the board examined only applications submitted by victims, but several medical records were rejected without proper justification or explanation.

Presenting one example before the Tribunal, the victims’ counsel said a person who suffered severe injuries to both hand and leg had only the leg-related documents accepted, while papers related to the hand injury were rejected without any justification.

The victims urged the Tribunal to direct the administration to place all documents related to the medical examination process on record and to provide copies to affected persons, to ensure transparency in the compensation assessment.

They also demanded details regarding properties seized from the accused persons in the case, arguing that compensation for victims should be ensured through those attached assets.

During the hearing, the Additional District Magistrate of Harda informed the Tribunal that part of the compensation amount available with the administration had already been distributed among victims.

However, some payments remain pending because some beneficiaries could not be located or contacted.

The Additional District Magistrate further informed the bench that a Medical Board had been formed by the Collector to examine injured persons.

According to the medical reports submitted before the Tribunal, four victims were found to have permanent disabilities of varying percentages.

Meanwhile, counsel appearing for Respondents No. 4 and 5 informed the Tribunal that the Project Proponent’s family is currently living in rented accommodation and sought permission for them to return to their residence.

The Tribunal fixed the next hearing in the matter for July 14, 2026.

The Harda firecracker factory blast occurred on February 6, 2024, in Bairagarh village of Harda district.

At least 13 people were killed, and more than 170 were injured in the incident, while several nearby houses and structures were damaged.

Bhubaneswar, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati on Wednesday extended support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal for "economic self-defence" to strengthen country's economic stability and security.

Extending wholehearted support to the Prime Minister's appeal, the Governor said that economic resilience and self-reliance are essential for safeguarding the country's long-term prosperity and strategic interests.

He noted that conscious public participation and responsible consumption can significantly contribute to strengthening the nation's economy.

Highlighting Odisha Lok Bhavan's commitment to sustainability, Governor Kambhampati noted that all vehicles in his convoy are electric vehicles, while Lok Bhavan operates entirely on solar energy and has emerged as a model net-zero campus.

Lok Bhavan also encourages the staff of the Lok Bhavan to shift from petrol diesel vehicles to Electric Vehicles, he said.

"They charge their vehicle free of cost in Lok Bhavan. That is one of the incentives being given to the officials and staff here," he added.

Taking the initiative further, the Governor said steps are being taken to write to the Vice-Chancellors of all state universities to observe at least one "Combustion Engine-Free Day" every week.

He also encouraged students and youth to increasingly embrace bicycles, electric vehicles and public transport in their daily lives.

Governor Kambhampati appealed to officers and employees across the administration to minimise the unnecessary use of official vehicles and actively contribute to fuel conservation efforts.

Referring to the Prime Minister's appeal to the citizens to postpone the purchases of gold by at least one year and reduce the use of edible oil, the Governor said, "Saving fuel, promoting indigenous products, encouraging natural farming and reducing the consumption of edible oil are not merely acts of conservation; they are essential steps towards strengthening and safeguarding the nation."

Calling for collective participation, Governor Kambhampati urged citizens from all walks of life to follow the advice of Prime Minister Modi and join the national mission with a spirit of responsibility and patriotism.

"Every conscious step towards conserving fuel and reducing unnecessary consumption strengthens the nation's economic resilience and collective future. By embracing responsible and sustainable practices today, we can contribute to building a self-reliant, secure and prosperous India for generations to come," he said.

Bengaluru, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Karnataka Leader of the Opposition, R. Ashoka, on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the Congress-led state government over its decision to withdraw the 2022 school uniform order and permit limited traditional and faith-based relihious symbols, including hijab, in schools and colleges.

In a strongly worded statement, Ashoka alleged that the Congress government had revived the hijab issue as part of a "desperate appeasement strategy" following the Davanagere bypoll fallout and growing dissatisfaction among minority voters.

Calling the move "damage control" aimed at protecting the Congress' vote bank, the BJP leader accused the Siddaramaiah government of resorting to divisive politics instead of addressing governance failures.

"The Congress government, rattled by the fallout of the Davanagere bypolls and growing anger within its minority voter base, has once again resorted to its old divisive playbook," Ashoka said.

He alleged that while Karnataka was facing issues such as rising prices, corruption, farmer suicides and deteriorating law and order, the state government was focusing on religious issues for political gains.

"This is not about rights. It is a calculated political bribe to appease a specific community that has recently shown its discontent," he charged.

Ashoka also criticised the state government for allegedly disregarding judicial pronouncements on the issue.

Referring to the 2022 Karnataka High Court judgment that upheld the uniform dress code in educational institutions, he said the Congress government was showing "utter contempt" for the Judiciary by reversing the earlier court order.

"The High Court had emphasised that educational institutions must remain centres of discipline and equality rather than arenas for religious display," Ashoka added.

The BJP leader also accused the Congress government of practising "selective secularism", alleging discrimination in permitting hijab while opposing saffron shawls in educational institutions.

"Under this (Karnataka) regime, the hijab is given a green signal under the guise of freedom, while the saffron shawl is met with an immediate ban," he alleged.

Ashoka claimed the Congress government was pursuing "minority appeasement" politics similar to that seen in West Bengal under the previous Trinamool Congress government and warned that such policies could damage social harmony.

"By turning schools into laboratories of religious division, the Congress is gambling with the future of students for a few extra votes," he said.

He asserted that the people of Karnataka were closely observing what he termed as the government's "selective secularism" and warned that "divisive appeasement politics" would face rejection from voters.

The Karnataka government on Tuesday withdrew its February 5, 2022, school uniform order and issued fresh guidelines allowing students to wear limited traditional and faith-based symbols such as hijab, turbans, sacred threads and Rudraksha along with prescribed uniforms in schools and colleges across the state.

Mumbai, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday said that the Simhastha Kumbh Mela at Nashik-Trimbakeshwar was an opportunity for the state to set an ideal example of public service, adding that funds would not be a problem for its successful organisation.

He announced a fund of Rs 5 crore for each Akhada to ensure all facilities for the Akhadas, Rs 15 lakh each for smaller institutions, payment of electricity bills of Akhadas through the authority, and compensation or alternative land if Akhada land is acquired for government projects.

The Chief Minister was speaking at a review meeting on the Simhastha Kumbh Mela. He said the Kumbh Mela would be organised in a grand and spiritual manner under the guidance of saints, mahants and devotees arriving from across the world.

The Maharashtra Chief Minister said the suggestions made by saints and mahants for the successful organisation of the Kumbh Mela were highly valuable.

While appreciating the work already underway, the saints and mahants also suggested measures to accelerate and improve the effectiveness of various projects. He said the detailed discussions would certainly help ensure the success of the Kumbh Mela and that extensive planning had already been undertaken.

CM Fadnavis stated that the preparations for the forthcoming Kumbh Mela were not only for next year’s event but were also being designed keeping in mind the Kumbh Mela to be held 12 years later.

Permanent infrastructure and development works are being created in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar for future use. Since the scale of the Kumbh Mela will continue to expand, long-term planning is being implemented accordingly, he added.

He said the Trimbakeshwar Temple is one of the most important Jyotirlingas in India and that the Kumbh Mela is being held in the sacred surroundings of the origin of the Godavari River.

A corridor is being developed around the temple premises to provide better facilities for devotees. Restoration work is also underway for kunds, Ramkal Path, temples and caves in Nashik. Efforts are being made to create a spiritually enriching atmosphere across Nashik and Trimbakeshwar.

A comprehensive healthcare plan has also been prepared for the Kumbh Mela to ensure that saints, mahants and devotees do not face any health-related difficulties.

The Chief Minister further stated that consideration would be given to restricting certain areas within lands allotted to Akhadas.

Compared to the previous Kumbh Mela, devotees will witness a much cleaner form of the Godavari River this time, for which extensive works are being carried out.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed confidence that the Simhastha Kumbh Mela would be organised in a magnificent manner and stated that no compromise would be tolerated regarding security arrangements.

He also issued directions regarding the safety and convenience of devotees and the demands of Akhadas.

Eknath Shinde said the Akhadas had assured that no inconvenience would be caused to devotees or ordinary citizens during the Kumbh Mela. Welcoming this approach, he said the suggestions made by the Akhadas were highly commendable and that the event would succeed through collective cooperation.

Currently, 377 acres of land have been reserved for the Kumbh Mela. However, the Akhadas have demanded additional land and the government is positive about the request.

He assured that there would be no shortage of funds for the Kumbh Mela and all necessary funds for infrastructure and devotee facilities would be made available immediately.

He further directed all security agencies to work in coordination so that no untoward incident occurs. Modern technology should be used for crowd management and emergency response systems. The government is ensuring that no shortcomings remain in the organisation of the Kumbh Mela, he added.

New Delhi, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) Senior IPS officer Praveen Sood will continue as Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for another year, following a decision by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet to extend his tenure beyond May 24, 2026.

An order was issued in this regard on Wednesday.

The move ensures continuity at the helm of India's premier investigating agency, where Sood has overseen several high‑profile cases and strengthened institutional coordination.

The extension was approved after a high‑level selection committee meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reflecting the Union government's confidence in his leadership.

Sood, who assumed charge of the CBI in May 2023, has steered the agency through a period marked by complex investigations and heightened public scrutiny.

His tenure has been characterised by efforts to modernise investigative processes, enhance cooperation with state police forces, and deepen collaboration with international agencies.

Under Sood's leadership, the CBI has pursued cases involving corruption, financial fraud, and organised crime, reinforcing its role as the country's central investigative authority.

The decision to extend his term comes at a time when the agency is handling sensitive matters with national implications.

Officials familiar with the development noted that continuity in leadership was considered crucial to maintain momentum in ongoing probes and to ensure stability within the organisation.

The extension also aligns with the Union government's broader emphasis on institutional consistency in key enforcement bodies.

Observers point out that Sood's extended tenure will allow him to further implement reforms aimed at improving transparency and accountability in investigations.

His continuation is expected to bolster morale within the central probe agency and provide a steady hand as the CBI navigates challenges posed by increasingly sophisticated criminal networks.

The move underscores the importance the government places on experienced leadership in safeguarding the integrity of investigative institutions.

As the CBI prepares to mark another year under Sood's stewardship, the extension signals both recognition of his contributions and anticipation of the agency's evolving role in India's governance framework.

With the decision now formalised, the focus shifts to how the CBI Director will leverage the additional year to consolidate reforms, strengthen investigative capacity, and reinforce public trust in the institution.

Dehradun, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) Under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Uttarakhand’s revered ‘Char Dham Yatra’ is moving towards creating a historic record this year.

In just 25 days since the pilgrimage began on April 19, more than 1.26 million devotees have visited the sacred Himalayan shrines. This development reflects an extraordinary wave of faith and devotion, say officials.

A tremendous spirit of faith and devotion is being witnessed across all four Char Dham shrines. The pilgrimage began on April 19, and by May 13, a total of 1,260,478 devotees had completed the Char Dham Yatra.

Among them, 523,582 pilgrims visited Kedarnath Temple, 324,081 visited Badrinath Temple, 205,425 reached Gangotri Temple, and 207,390 devotees visited Yamunotri Temple.

On Wednesday alone, 80,401 pilgrims offered prayers across the four shrines. Kedarnath witnessed the highest footfall with 32,423 devotees, followed by Badrinath with 21,260 pilgrims. Meanwhile, 13,403 devotees visited Yamunotri and 13,315 pilgrims paid obeisance at Gangotri.

Among the four holy shrines, Kedarnath Temple has witnessed the highest influx of pilgrims. Despite the difficult mountainous trek and unpredictable weather, over 523,000 devotees have already paid obeisance at Kedarnath in just 22 days.

On Wednesday alone, more than 32,000 pilgrims reached the shrine, making it the busiest among all four Dhams.

The surge in pilgrims is attributed to improved infrastructure, better crowd management, and extensive redevelopment work at Kedarnath under the dream project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The once-devastated temple town now presents a grand and spiritually uplifting appearance, attracting devotees in record numbers.

Chief Minister Dhami said that the safety and convenience of pilgrims remain the government’s top priority. With the pilgrimage route passing through high-altitude Himalayan terrain, the state administration is closely monitoring weather conditions and has instructed officials to ensure swift response measures in the event of any adverse conditions.

To streamline the pilgrimage, the government has strengthened slot management systems, crowd-control measures, and real-time digital monitoring. Authorities have also improved the trekking route to Kedarnath, making the journey safer and more comfortable for elderly pilgrims and families.

Official data from the last four years highlights the growing popularity of the Kedarnath Yatra. From 2022 to 2025, nearly 6.95 million devotees visited the shrine. The numbers rose steadily each year, reflecting increasing public confidence in the administration’s travel arrangements and infrastructure improvements.

Guwahati, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat arrived in Assam’s Hojai district on Wednesday amid tight security arrangements put in place by the local administration and police.

Bhagwat’s convoy reached Gita Ashram in Hojai, where the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief is scheduled to stay for four nights, officials said.

The police administration has thrown a multi-layered security blanket around the ashram and surrounding areas in view of Bhagwat’s visit. Security personnel have been deployed at key locations, while movement in and around the venue is being closely monitored.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief’s visit has drawn significant attention in the region, with senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leaders and local functionaries present to receive him upon arrival at the ashram.

According to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh functionaries, Bhagwat will take part in the ‘Karyakarta Vikas Varg (Second Year)’ training camp being organised in the state as part of the Sangh’s cadre development and leadership training activities.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh training programme is scheduled to be held at a designated camp in Guwahati and will include swayamsevaks from different parts of the northeastern region.

Senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leaders and pracharaks are also expected to attend the sessions during the three-day programme.

Sources said the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief is likely to address participants on organisational expansion, social outreach, nation-building initiatives and the role of cadres in strengthening grassroots activities across the country.

Bhagwat is also expected to hold interactions with senior Sangh functionaries from Assam and other northeastern states during his stay.

The ‘Karyakarta Vikas Varg’ is considered one of the important internal training programmes of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, aimed at enhancing leadership skills, ideological orientation and organisational capabilities of its members.

The second-year camp is attended by selected swayamsevaks who have already completed the first phase of training.

Security arrangements have been heightened in Guwahati ahead of Bhagwat’s visit, with local authorities coordinating with organisers for the smooth conduct of the programme.

The visit of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief is significant as it comes shortly after the swearing-in ceremony of the new National Democratic Alliance government in Assam, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has been actively expanding its organisational activities across the Northeast over the past several years through educational, social and cultural outreach initiatives.

Senior Sangh leaders have frequently visited the region to strengthen coordination with local units and volunteers.

Bhagwat’s visit is expected to conclude on May 15, following the completion of the training programme.

Jaipur, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Rajasthan Police Welfare Fund Board on Wednesday announced several key welfare decisions extending financial assistance to retired police personnel as well as serving staff.

Under the new provisions, retired police personnel will now be eligible for financial support for the treatment of serious and chronic illnesses, marking a significant expansion of the welfare cover.

In another major decision, the Board also approved financial assistance for police personnel's families to help meet expenses related to childbirth, including cases involving surgical deliveries and post-delivery medical complications, within prescribed limits.

Officials said the move is expected to provide substantial relief to personnel and their families facing rising medical costs.

The 26th meeting of the Rajasthan Police Welfare Fund Board was held on Wednesday at the Police Headquarters Auditorium with a focus on strengthening welfare, security, and social support systems for serving and retired police personnel and their families.

The meeting was chaired by Rajasthan Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Kumar Sharma.

During the meeting, several issues related to the welfare of police personnel and their families were discussed in detail.

Officials added that multiple important decisions were taken to further enhance welfare measures, and necessary directions were issued for implementation.

Addressing the meeting, DGP Rajiv Kumar Sharma said that maintaining the morale of the police force and ensuring dignity and security for their families remains the department's top priority.

He stressed the importance of financial discipline, transparency, and effective execution of welfare schemes.

The meeting approved the income and expenditure statement of the Rajasthan Police Welfare Fund for the financial year 2025–26.

The DGP also emphasised strengthening accountability mechanisms to ensure transparent utilisation of welfare funds.

A major decision taken in the meeting extended financial assistance from the Police Welfare Fund to retired police personnel as well.

The meeting also approved the waiver of an outstanding loan of Rs 5 lakh sanctioned in the name of the late Constable Ratandeep Meena of the 3rd Battalion of the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary Bikaner, following his demise.

The decision was taken as a humanitarian measure to support the bereaved family.

Proposals related to revising and standardising scholarship rates for technical and vocational courses were also discussed.

The Board decided to review the matter further and place it for final consideration in the next meeting.

In addition, the meeting approved steps to modernise police canteens and libraries located in police lines, with the aim of upgrading facilities and improving the working environment for personnel.

DGP Sharma said better amenities play an important role in boosting morale and operational efficiency.

The Board also decided to invite proposals for setting up CPC (Central Police Canteen) outlets in newly created districts and police units to ensure wider access to welfare facilities, including in remote areas.

It was further decided that proposals along with cost estimates for various welfare-related activities would be invited from districts, units, and training institutions under the Rajasthan Police Welfare Fund Rules, 1986.

The initiative aims to improve infrastructure and amenities across police establishments.

Senior officials present at the meeting included Additional Director General (Police Welfare and Modernisation) Prashakha Mathur and Deputy Inspector General Kunwar Rashtradeep.

Guwahati, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) Assam Congress President and Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party over the issue of the Uniform Civil Code, alleging that the ruling party was using the constitutional provision for political polarisation rather than promoting equality and justice.

Speaking to reporters here, Gogoi questioned the Bharatiya Janata Party’s commitment to equal rights and equal treatment for citizens, claiming that the party does not genuinely believe in “uniformity” in governance or social justice.

“Does the Bharatiya Janata Party believe in equality? Does the Bharatiya Janata Party give respect to all citizens of India? Does the Bharatiya Janata Party provide equal rights and equal security to citizens? The reality is that the Bharatiya Janata Party does not believe in uniform rights, uniform respect or equality,” the Congress leader said.

Referring to the constitutional mention of the Uniform Civil Code under the Directive Principles of State Policy, Gogoi said the Bharatiya Janata Party was attempting to misuse a constitutional concept for divisive political purposes.

“Although the Uniform Civil Code is mentioned in the Directive Principles of the Constitution, the Bharatiya Janata Party wants to misuse this constitutional idea to further its politics of division and polarisation in society,” he alleged.

The Congress MP further claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party raises the issue of the Uniform Civil Code across different states not to ensure justice, but to deepen social and political fault lines.

“The Bharatiya Janata Party talks about the Uniform Civil Code in various states from the perspective of social division and political polarisation. Instead of creating harmony and equal opportunity, the party is trying to use the issue to divide communities,” Gogoi said.

His remarks came amid renewed discussions on the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code in Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled states, including Assam, where the state government has recently indicated that it has begun preliminary work on the matter.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has consistently maintained that the Uniform Civil Code is aimed at ensuring equal laws for all citizens irrespective of religion and is in line with the constitutional vision of equality and justice.

Opposition parties, however, have accused the ruling party of using the issue for electoral gains and targeting minority communities.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday announced that the upcoming session of the Assam Legislative Assembly will begin on May 21, with the state government set to introduce the Uniform Civil Code Bill in the House on May 26.

Addressing reporters after the first Cabinet meeting of his second-term government held at Koinadhara in Guwahati, Sarma said that tribal communities in the state would remain outside the purview of the proposed Uniform Civil Code legislation.

“The Assembly session will commence on May 21, and the Uniform Civil Code Bill will be introduced on May 26. Tribal people will be exempted from the ambit of the proposed law,” the Chief Minister said.

Amaravati, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) Andhra Pradesh would soon move towards fully data-driven governance, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said on Wednesday.

During a review meeting of the Planning department held at the Secretariat, he said that the state would soon move towards fully data-driven governance, with an emphasis on real-time monitoring instead of relying solely on traditional methods for estimating the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP).

He directed officials to strengthen institutional capacity to build a more robust state economy, stating that achieving 15 per cent growth is essential to realise the goals of Swarna Andhra–2047.

The Chief Minister emphasised the need for faster and more accurate data collection and instructed officials to provide three months of structured training to staff from the state level down to the mandal level.

The review focused on several key areas, including GSDP capacity building, AI-based economic analysis, major surveys to be conducted across the state, training for district and mandal-level officials, and integration of KPI auditing mechanisms and AI-based economic analysis.

The Chief Minister observed that current GSDP estimates are prepared quarterly and annually, which limits the government’s ability to gain timely insights into economic conditions.

He noted that excessive dependence on historical data often delays policy decisions and stressed the need for a system capable of tracking economic growth every month, across every district and mandal in the state.

To support this transformation, the Chief Minister instructed officials to train government staff in understanding GSDP methodologies and generating faster, data-backed estimates. He proposed a three-month capacity-building programme covering all the districts.

The Chief Minister also directed that three officials from each Assembly constituency receive specialised training.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that AI-based economic analysis systems are being developed for the agriculture, industrial and services sectors. He further instructed departments to identify and incorporate untracked indicators currently to strengthen economic forecasting and policymaking.

Jaipur, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) Rajasthan Urban Development Minister Jhabar Singh Kharra on Wednesday apologised to students and parents following the cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), saying the development has severely impacted the future of lakhs of hardworking aspirants.

Speaking at an event in Jhunjhunu, Minister Kharra said several accused individuals have already been arrested in connection with the alleged paper leak case and that the investigation has now been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

He added that more arrests linked to the network could take place in the coming days.

The Minister said the paper leak had caused the greatest injustice to students who had prepared for the examination with honesty and dedication.

"The students who worked sincerely are the ones who have suffered the most. The government is treating this issue with utmost seriousness," he added.

Kharra assured students that the NEET-UG examination would be conducted again within the next two to three months under enhanced security arrangements.

He said that fool-proof measures would be implemented to ensure there is no possibility of malpractice or paper leaks during the re-examination.

The Minister also clarified that candidates who had already applied for the examination would not be required to pay any additional fees for the fresh test.

"I apologise personally, and also on behalf of the Government of India and the Government of Rajasthan, for the mental stress and losses suffered by these hardworking students," Minister Kharra said.

Following the cancellation of the examination, anger and frustration have intensified among students across the state.

Many candidates said lakhs of sincere aspirants are now being forced to suffer because of the actions of a few individuals involved in the alleged paper leak.

Students said that the examination paper was comparatively easier this year and many had hoped to secure high scores.

However, the alleged paper leak and subsequent cancellation have shattered their expectations.

The NEET examination cancellation has also increased mental pressure and uncertainty among students, many of whom had been preparing continuously for the examination over a long period.

Candidates said they would now have to restart their preparation process, disrupting both their momentum and confidence.

Student, Diya Bairagi, said students who prepared honestly have been deeply affected by the incident.

She stressed the need to strengthen the examination system to eliminate even the possibility of paper leaks.

Bengaluru, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Wednesday announced a series of citizen-centric initiatives for Bengaluru under what he described as the Congress government’s "sixth guarantee" -- "Bhoo Guarantee" (land guarantee).

The announcements include distribution of e-Khata documents, concessions for converting ‘B’ Khata properties to ‘A’ Khata, relaxation in building violation limits, a one-time settlement scheme for unauthorised layouts, allotment of sites to Shivaram Karanth Layout landowners, a large-scale “Green Bengaluru” plantation drive, and the sale of BDA apartments.

Addressing a press conference at the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) headquarters, Shivakumar said nearly 150 development projects for Bengaluru were being planned and that more details would be shared in the coming days.

He announced that the “Nanna Khate, Nanna Hakku” (My Khata, My Right) campaign would begin on May 16 and continue every Saturday for three months.

Under the initiative, citizen open-house programmes on e-Khata issues will be organised at 50 locations across five municipal zones in Bengaluru.

“Each Saturday, programmes will be held at 10 locations in each of the five civic zones from morning till evening. The locations will be announced in advance,” he said.

Shivakumar said the government’s e-Khata initiative had become India’s largest integrated digital urban property records system, enabling more than 23 lakh property records to be delivered directly to citizens online.

He said approximately 16 lakh ‘A’ Khata properties and seven lakh ‘B’ Khata properties existed in Bengaluru.

“Through ‘Bhoo Guarantee’, every genuine property owner in Bengaluru will get secure, reliable and accessible digital property records. The old manual and unclear system has been transformed into a transparent and citizen-centric digital format,” he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister announced a major concession for property owners seeking conversion from ‘B’ Khata to ‘A’ Khata.

At present, applicants are required to pay 5 per cent of the guidance value as a conversion fee. However, those who complete payment within 100 days will have to pay only 2 per cent, amounting to a 60 per cent concession.

“For a property valued at Rs 1 crore, the owner earlier had to pay Rs 5 lakh. Now they need to pay only Rs 2 lakh. Around seven lakh property owners will benefit,” he said.

He added that applicants failing to avail themselves of the concession within 100 days would have to pay the original 5 per cent fee later.

According to Shivakumar, every property document would include GPS details and the owner’s photograph.

He said the system was designed to ensure corruption-free delivery of documents to citizens’ doorsteps and that records could also be downloaded online.

Information about the scheme would be communicated to households through WhatsApp and other media platforms in both Kannada and English, while the actual property documents would remain in Kannada, he said.

Thiruvananthapuram, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) After the CPI-M Politburo gave a dressing down to Pinarayi Vijayan, the former Kerala Chief Minister finds himself at the centre of another intense political conversation, about whether he should take over as the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly.

All eyes remain fixed on the crucial three-day CPI-M state leadership's three-day meeting that began here on Wednesday, where Vijayan is expected to face tough questions over the collapse of the party’s red bastions.

Political circles are abuzz over the veteran leader’s decision to quietly vacate the party-provided accommodation allotted to him at the CPI-M residential complex for senior leaders in the capital city.

Returning from Delhi the other day, Vijayan, along with his family, moved into a rented home, owned by a leading businessman, in the heart of the state capital.

The move has immediately fuelled speculation that Vijayan may indeed continue in frontline politics by formally taking over as Leader of the Opposition, despite whispers within sections of the CPI-M that the former Chief Minister could gradually withdraw after the dressing down he reportedly received at the Politburo meeting in Delhi.

The significance of the shift has not gone unnoticed in Kerala’s political corridors.

Had Vijayan intended to retreat from active politics, many believed he would have continued at the party accommodation or opted for a quieter political existence.

Instead, the relocation to an upscale private home is being interpreted as a signal that he is preparing for an extended innings in opposition politics.

More importantly, CPI-M insiders believe Vijayan could use the official residence allotted to the Leader of the Opposition primarily as a political office rather than a family residence.

The symbolism is politically striking because the very same official residence was, until recently, occupied by V. D. Satheesan, the Congress leader who relentlessly cornered Vijayan during the previous Assembly term and is now himself among the strongest contenders for Kerala’s Chief Ministership.

Yet within the CPI-M, the debate is far from settled.

Critics continue to blame Vijayan’s centralised style, personality-driven campaign and perceived promotion of family influence for the party’s defeat.

Whether the state meetings deepen that rebellion or help Vijayan reassert control could determine not merely his own future, but the direction of Kerala CPI-M in the post-defeat era.

Shillong, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Wednesday launched four major skill development initiatives aimed at strengthening employment, entrepreneurship and livelihood opportunities for the youth of the state.

The initiatives were unveiled during Skillerate 2026 held at North-Eastern Hill University in Shillong.

The programme was organised by the Department of Labour, Employment and Skill Development in collaboration with Skills Meghalaya and the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS).

The four flagship initiatives launched under Skills Meghalaya are PROPEL, MEGASKILL, SHIELD and EQUIP.

Officials said PROPEL has been designed to support trained youth through startup toolkits, mobility assistance, salary augmentation, marketing support and industry linkages, with a total outlay of Rs 36 crore.

The programme is expected to benefit around 21,000 trainees.

MEGASKILL aims to prepare youth for participation in skill competitions from the district level up to international platforms, including the WorldSkills Competition, in Japan in 2028.

SHIELD focuses on structured training, certification and placement support in homecare services, while EQUIP seeks to promote inclusive skilling opportunities for differently-abled persons and vulnerable groups.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sangma said livelihood generation remains the government's "biggest challenge", particularly in a young state like Meghalaya where nearly half the population is aged below 20 years.

"Every year, around 60,000 young individuals enter the workforce. Therefore, creation of sustainable livelihoods and jobs is the most critical challenge for us," he added.

The Chief Minister said that Meghalaya adopted a state-led skilling model to address local requirements more effectively, adding that national programmes often need localisation and flexibility.

He also highlighted the role of externally aided projects supported by the Asian Development Bank in strengthening the skilling ecosystem.

According to Chief Minister Sangma, more than 50,000 youth have been trained in the state over the last five years, while nearly 30,000 have received certifications.

He said the state government has invested nearly Rs 80 crore in the Meghalaya Skills Programme over the last three years, which has generated an estimated Rs 150 crore in earnings for trained youth.

Labour, Employment and Skill Development Minister Methodius Dkhar said the launch of the four initiatives marked an important milestone in Meghalaya's skilling journey and reaffirmed the state government's commitment to youth empowerment.

New Delhi, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday termed the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak as a "failure" of the BJP-led Central government as he raised concern about the future of students appearing for the exam, especially those belonging to poor households.

Talking to reporters after a meeting with Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, CM Mann said: "It is very unfortunate that students work so hard to give the exam and after that they realise that the paper was leaked."

"It is a failure of the government," he added.

The Punjab CM highlighted that the future of so many students depends on the medical entrance exam.

"A poor student aims to fulfil his family's dreams by becoming a doctor, and then gets to know that the paper has been leaked, and a few wealthy people bought the question paper. His or her dreams get shattered," he said.

Further, Mann spoke about the development works in Punjab under the AAP government.

"In Punjab, we are building roads, schools are being built, hospitals are being improved, and Aam Aadmi Clinics are being opened. Today, our children are clearing JEE Main and NEET, and school students are also performing very well. Today, the 12th board exam results have come in, in which three girls have scored 500 out of 500," he said.

CM Mann emphasised the importance of employment generation in order to prevent brain drain.

New Delhi, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Union Minister for Development of the North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, on Wednesday launched the Mizoram Ginger Mission, a Rs 189.79 crore convergence-led initiative for ginger cultivation and value chain development in the state.

The Union Minister highlighted that while Geographical Indication-certified Mizo Ginger contains 6-8 per cent oleoresin, compared with the global average of around 3 per cent, farmers today receive only Rs 8-15 per kilogram, even as the value chain reaches over Rs 500 per kilogram in international markets.

Calling for a decisive effort to “disintermediate the intermediary” and strengthen cooperative and Farmer Producer Organisation structures, he positioned the Rs 190 crore initiative as the “Mizo Ginger Movement”, anchored on four strategic pillars: Convergence, Value Addition, Branding, and Market Integration.

He underscored PM Modi’s commitment to ensuring that farmers become true stakeholders in the entire agricultural value chain “from farm to fork”.

The minister emphasised that the objective is not merely crop cultivation, but enabling farmers to participate meaningfully in processing, branding, packaging, export-led value addition, and global market integration.

The Minister highlighted that the Mission will deliver one integrated processing hub and three spoke centres, over 30 strategic interventions, and the integration of nearly 20,000 farming households into a unified value-chain ecosystem built on traceability, distinctiveness, quality assurance, and farmer-led value creation.

He outlined a clear global vision for Mizo Ginger, with targeted entry into South-East Asian, Middle Eastern, and European markets, and said success would be realized when Mizo Ginger is available on global shelves, traceable to individual farmers, and delivering direct economic benefits to them.

Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma expressed deep appreciation to the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region for conceptualising and anchoring the Ginger Mission, which marks a defining moment in the state’s agricultural and economic journey.

He noted that the Mission rightly recognises Mizoram’s unique strength in pharma-grade ginger and converts it into a structured pathway for farmer prosperity, value addition, and global market integration.

The state government is fully committed to ensuring time-bound execution on the ground, he added.

Anchored by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, the mission builds upon convergence with schemes of the Ministries of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Rural Development, and Food Processing Industries, along with the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority, and private investors for the processing of ginger.

Situating the Mission within the larger vision of “Brand North East”, with one Unique Selling Proposition for each state, such as Sikkim as an organic state, kiwi of Arunachal Pradesh, Queen Pineapple of Tripura, coffee of Nagaland, and Lakadong turmeric from Meghalaya, the Minister assured farmers that the government stands “side by side” with them.

The mission is expected to deliver a six-fold increase in farmer value realisation, a sharp reduction in post-harvest losses, international branding of Mizo Ginger, sustainable rural livelihoods, and a robust export and processing ecosystem for the region.

Aizawl, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Mizoram Ginger Unique Selling Proposition (USP) – Sustainable Cultivation and Value Chain Development Project, to be implemented under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) with a total outlay of Rs 189.78 crore, was launched on Wednesday, officials said.

The project was inaugurated through a virtual programme jointly launched by Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma and Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya Scindia.

In his virtual address, Union Minister Scindia said strengthening farmers’ participation and improving livelihoods remained among the top priorities of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government.

He stated that the development of farmers was central to the country’s overall progress and that the Central government had been consistently implementing various initiatives to empower the farming community.

Scindia said the Mizoram ginger project would be implemented through coordinated efforts involving different ministries, the state government, farmers and cooperative societies.

He added that the initiative would help promote Mizoram’s unique and high-quality ginger to wider domestic and global markets.

Addressing the event, the Chief Minister said the Ministry of DoNER had officially recognised Mizoram ginger as a Unique Selling Proposition (USP), acknowledging its exceptional quality and market potential.

In recognition of this distinction, the Ministry approved the Rs 189.78 crore project aimed at promoting sustainable cultivation practices and strengthening the ginger value chain in the state, he said.

Lalduhoma said the project would focus on key areas including Sustainable Cultivation, Quality Control and Food Safety, Farm Mechanisation and Solarisation, and Post-Harvest Management and Processing.

Additional components of the project would be implemented in convergence with schemes of various Central ministries.

The Chief Minister further stated that the Post-Harvest Management and Processing component would receive Gap Funding support under the North Eastern Council’s (NEC) Focused Development Component (FDC).

Highlighting the significance of ginger cultivation in Mizoram, Lalduhoma said ginger had been cultivated by the Mizos since ancient times and continued to remain one of the most widely grown cash crops in the state.

He said Mizoram ginger was highly valued for its superior quality, unique aroma, medicinal properties, low fibre content, and high oleoresin and essential oil concentration.

Among the three major ginger varieties cultivated in the state, the Thingpui and Thinglaidum varieties received the Geographical Indication (GI) tag in 2021.

The Chief Minister also pointed out that in 2025, chemical residue tests conducted by Eurofins Analytical Services in Bengaluru confirmed that Mizoram ginger met all required quality standards.

He added that the recent recognition of Mizoram ginger as a USP would further strengthen the identity and commercial prospects of the crop at the national and international levels.

According to officials, the project would be implemented in convergence with various departmental schemes.

The Sustainable Cultivation and Farm Mechanisation components would be executed in coordination with the Agriculture, Horticulture and Rural Development departments.

The Processing component of the project would be supported through NEC’s Focused Development Component funding amounting to Rs 30.13 crore.

As part of the infrastructure development plan, a major Processing Hub, designated as the Main Hub, would be established at Mualkawi in Champhai district, the highest ginger-producing district in Mizoram.

In addition, smaller Spoke Hubs would be developed at Tualcheng, Vaphai and Zotlang.

Officials said the Main Hub was proposed to be operated by larger investors, while the smaller units were expected to be managed by local societies.

The infrastructure-related works under the project are targeted for completion within this year, while ginger processing activities are expected to commence from next year.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Chief Secretary Khilli Ram Meena.

The inauguration programme was held at the Chief Minister’s Office in Aizawl under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Lalduhoma.

The event was attended by Horticulture Minister C. Lalsawivunga, Chief Minister’s Adviser Dr K.C. Lalmalsawmzauva, Chief Secretary Khilli Ram Meena, and senior officials of the Mizoram government.

Gandhinagar/New Delhi, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) Calling Gujarat’s selection for India’s first semi-high-speed rail corridor a matter of pride for the entire state, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Wednesday welcomed the Union Cabinet’s approval for the Ahmedabad-Dholera semi-high-speed double-line rail project estimated at around Rs 20,667 crore.

The project, approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will connect Sarkhej in Ahmedabad with Dholera and is being positioned as Indian Railways’ first semi-high-speed corridor developed with indigenous technology.

Responding to the development, Patel thanked PM Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for what he described as "a major development-oriented gift to Gujarat under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan".

Patel said, "Gujarat receiving the country’s first semi-high-speed rail project was a matter of pride, and the project would become a historic milestone in the state’s modern infrastructure development."

He emphasised that the corridor would act as a reference model for the phased expansion of semi-high-speed rail projects across the country.

The proposed rail line will provide faster connectivity between Ahmedabad, the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR), the under-construction Dholera airport and the Lothal National Maritime Heritage Complex.

The Centre said the corridor is aimed at improving multimodal connectivity and logistics efficiency while facilitating seamless movement of passengers, goods and services.

According to details released following the Cabinet approval, the 134-km broad-gauge double-line corridor is targeted for completion by 2030-31.

Railway Minister Vaishnaw said the trains on the route will have a design speed of 220 kmph and an operational speed of 200 kmph. "Travel time between Sarkhej and Dholera is expected to come down significantly after completion of the project," officials said.

The government said the project would improve connectivity for around 284 villages, benefiting nearly 5 lakh people.

Officials also highlighted its environmental benefits, stating that "the rail corridor is expected to help reduce logistics costs, lower fuel consumption and cut carbon emissions".

The Centre further said the project could reduce oil imports by an estimated 0.48 crore litres and lower carbon dioxide emissions by around 2 crore kg.

Chandigarh, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) Leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Punjab unit said on Wednesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to reduce the size of his convoy in order to save fuel, should serve as a "sign" for the Opposition to follow suit. Targeting Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, they said that the Chief Minister should also follow the same measures at the earliest.

Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar said: "I believe this is a sign for Bhagwant Mann, that he should reduce his own convoy as well."

He claimed that a large portion of Punjab Police moves around with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Covenor Arvind Kejriwal and that should be reduced.

"This is a national issue, the ongoing (West Asia) conflict can have a long-term impact on the country, and these steps are being taken to keep the nation secure. So, I believe Bhagwant Mann will definitely accept this (Prime Minister Modi's) appeal," Jakhar told IANS.

Punjab BJP Vice President Fatehjang Singh Bajwa echoed that the step taken by the Prime Minister is a "sign" for the Opposition.

"Other politicians should also take minimum security with themselves so that the country and the government have to bear least expenses for this," he told IANS.

Punjab BJP Working President Ashwani Sharma asserted that Prime Minister Modi has set an "ideal example" in the current global situation, where the prices of petrol and diesel are experiencing a significant surge worldwide.

"When the leader of the country begins with himself and travels with just two vehicles, then I think everyone should follow his example," Sharma said.

Referring to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab BJP Working President said: "We will see when our Chief Minister (Bhagwant Mann) reduces the size of his convoy or not."

Taking a jibe at Arvind Kejriwal, BJP leader Sharma said: "It remains to be seen whether the number of vehicles which accompanies his (CM Mann's) boss, who is neither a Chief Minister nor holds any post, is reduced or not."

Giving the example of Covid lockdown, he mentioned that the country has always adhered to PM Modi's appeals in times of crisis.

Sharma said that PM Modi taking such a measure to reduce the size of his convoy, will serve as a motivation to the common people as well.

"India will emerge victorious from this global crisis," he added.

Bhopal, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday welcomed the Centre’s decision to increase the Minimum Support Price for 14 kharif crops for the 2026-27 marketing season, saying it will directly benefit farmers in the state and strengthen the agriculture sector.

The revised Minimum Support Price was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday.

Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister, Chief Minister Yadav said the PM Modi-led government has consistently taken decisions to improve farmers’ income and ensure agricultural growth.

“Under the leadership of PM Modi, continuous decisions are being taken in the interest of farmers. The increase in Minimum Support Price for 14 kharif crops will help strengthen the agriculture sector and increase the income of annadata farmers,” Yadav said.

He added that the move will directly help lakhs of farmers in Madhya Pradesh, where agriculture is a key part of the state economy.

“The decision to increase Minimum Support Price will directly benefit farmers in Madhya Pradesh and across the country. The Central government has taken several concrete measures for farmers’ welfare and prosperity,” the Chief Minister said.

Yadav also highlighted state-level initiatives for farmers. He said Madhya Pradesh is observing 2026 as “Farmer Welfare Year”, with farmer-oriented programmes being held across the state.

Jaipur, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) BJP state chief Madan Rathore strongly rejected allegations made by former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot regarding the NEET paper leak controversy, stating that Gehlot appears to be misinformed and is making baseless accusations against the Bharatiya Janata Party without factual evidence.

Rathore clarified that the accused individual being referred to has no association with the Bharatiya Janata Party as a party worker and asserted that merely appearing in a photograph with someone cannot be treated as proof of political affiliation.

Reiterating the party’s “Zero Tolerance” policy against corruption and paper leaks, he emphasised that the Bharatiya Janata Party is not attempting to shield anyone.

Rathore further stated that preliminary information suggests the paper leak originated in Kerala and spread to other states via social media, while no direct connection to Rajasthan has surfaced in the investigation so far.

Addressing the controversy surrounding the alleged NEET examination paper leak, Rathore stated that the Central Government acted swiftly and sensitively to safeguard students' interests, including taking the significant decision to cancel the examination.

He said the matter is currently under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation, and the culprits will not be spared under any circumstances.

Reaffirming the Bharatiya Janata Party’s stand against corruption and examination-related malpractices, Rathore emphasised that the party follows a strict “Zero Tolerance” policy towards crimes such as paper leaks and corruption.

“No matter how influential or well-connected a person may be, the law will take its course, and the guilty will face stringent punishment,” he said, adding that the accused individual concerned has already been arrested.

Responding to allegations made by former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Rathore remarked that Gehlot appears to be misinformed and is attempting to level baseless allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party.

He clarified that the individual being referred to is not associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party as a party worker.

“In public life, it is common for individuals to be photographed with a variety of people. It is inappropriate to establish political affiliation solely on the basis of a photograph. Let me make it clear that we are not attempting to shield anyone,” Rathore asserted.

The Bharatiya Janata Party State President further stated that, according to preliminary information, the paper leak originated in Kerala before spreading to other states via social media.

He noted that no direct connection involving Rajasthan has emerged in the investigation so far.

Commending the Central Government and the National Testing Agency, Rathore described the decision to cancel the examination and announce a re-examination even before the declaration of results as a bold and student-centric step.

He further informed that students will neither be required to submit fresh applications nor pay any additional fees for the re-examination.

The test will be conducted at the same examination centres originally allotted to candidates, ensuring convenience and fairness for students.

Expressing concern over the functioning of certain coaching institutes, Rathore said that while providing education and guidance is a commendable service, it becomes deeply troubling if some institutions act as channels for securing selection through unethical means rather than merit.

He stressed the need for serious deliberation and the implementation of stricter regulatory and accountability mechanisms for coaching institutes.

Rathore reiterated that ensuring transparency in the education system and safeguarding the future of the youth remain the Bharatiya Janata Party government’s highest priorities, and that no form of irregularity or malpractice will be tolerated.

Bengaluru, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Karnataka government on Wednesday withdrew its February 5, 2022, order on school and college uniforms and issued fresh guidelines permitting students to wear "limited traditional and faith-based symbols" along with prescribed uniforms in educational institutions across the state.

The move is likely to trigger a controversy in the state.

The decision comes weeks after an April 24 incident in which a student's sacred thread ('Janeu') was allegedly cut at a school and a hijab was removed during the Common Entrance Test (CET) triggering public outrage and renewed debate over religious symbols in classrooms in the state.

Announcing the decision, Karnataka School Education and Literacy Minister Madhu Bangarappa said the state government acted following directions from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who emphasised that all religions and faiths must be respected and that students should not face stress while attending school.

Minister Bangarappa added: "The government order issued in this regard specifically mentions turbans, sacred threads, Shiva beads, Rudraksha, headscarves/hijabs and similar commonly worn religious symbols as permissible. However, such symbols should not interfere with discipline, safety or identification of students."

"Children come to school only for education, and we have to deliver that. They come with their own religious traditions. From today onwards, there are specific rules," the Minister told reporters.

He also clarified that recent textbook revisions undertaken by the state government were aimed at benefiting children and were not directed against any particular community.

According to proceedings issued by Under Secretary S.N. Padmini of the Department of School Education and Literacy, the new order seeks to ensure "uniformity, equality, secularism and equal education" in all schools and colleges.

Invoking Sections 7 and 133(2) of the Karnataka Education Act, 1983, and Rule 11 of the Karnataka Educational Institutions Rules, 1995, the state government formally revoked the Government Order dated February 5, 2022, with immediate effect.

The revised guidelines mandate that all government, aided and private schools, as well as pre-university colleges, continue enforcing prescribed uniforms as per institutional requirements and government directives.

At the same time, students will now be allowed to wear "limited traditional and custom-based symbols" along with uniforms, provided these do not alter or defeat the original purpose of the uniform.

The government order specifically mentions turbans, sacred threads, Shiva beads, Rudraksha, headscarves/hijabs and similar commonly worn religious symbols as permissible.

However, such religious symbols should not interfere with discipline, safety or identification of students.

The state government has also directed that no student should be denied entry into educational institutions, classrooms, examination halls or academic activities for wearing such religious symbols alongside the uniform.

The government order prohibits forcing students either to wear or remove religious or traditional symbols. However, dress codes prescribed for national and state-level examinations will continue to apply during examinations.

The state government instructed the School Development and Monitoring Committees (SDMCs), College Development Committees, and heads of institutions to ensure the rules are implemented uniformly and without discrimination.

It also warned institutions against any discriminatory or humiliating behaviour toward students.

The order said that institutions should adopt an inclusive approach inspired by the philosophy of social reformer Basavanna and ensure that no student is denied access to education.

Any institutional circular, rule or directive contrary to the new government order has been declared void.

The state government also said it had examined dress code regulations followed in Kendriya Vidyalayas and found that institutional discipline could be maintained without restricting limited traditional or faith-based symbols.

"Secularism in the constitutional sense does not mean opposition to individual beliefs. It is equal respect for all, impartiality and non-discriminatory treatment," the order said.

"It is essential to strike a balance between institutional discipline and constitutional values such as equality, dignity and the right to education," it added.

The order has come into immediate effect across Karnataka.

Patna, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) In a significant move to strengthen policing infrastructure, the Bihar government has granted administrative approval for the construction of modern police station buildings across eight districts.

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary shared the development through a post uploaded on his official X handle on Wednesday.

“The initiative aims to enhance the efficiency of the police force while improving public safety and service delivery,” he said.

The approved projects cover key locations across the state, including NTPC Barh Police Station in Patna, Madhubani Police Station in Purnea, Palasi and Sikti Police Stations in Araria, Vasudevpur Police Station in Munger, Mirganj Police Station in Gopalganj, and Goradih and Kahalgaon Police Stations in Bhagalpur.

The government has sanctioned substantial funds for these projects, including Rs 8.75 crore for NTPC Barh Police Station in Patna district, Rs 5.23 crore for Madhubani Police Station in Purnea, Rs 8.74 crore for Palasi Police Station in Araria, Rs 8.72 crore for Sikti Police Station in Araria, Rs 8.77 crore for Vasudevpur Police Station in Munger, Rs 8.72 crore for Mirganj Police Station in Gopalganj, Rs 8.85 crore for Goradih Police Station in Bhagalpur, and Rs 8.65 crore for Kahalgaon Police Station in Bhagalpur.

According to an official, these new police stations will be equipped with modern amenities, offering improved working conditions for police personnel.

The upgraded infrastructure is expected to strengthen crime control mechanisms and enable faster, more efficient public services.

The move reflects the state government’s broader push to modernise law enforcement infrastructure and improve overall governance and security across Bihar.

Earlier in the day, the Samrat Choudhary government's cabinet approved 18 proposals.

Among them, the state cabinet approved the creation of five new Superintendent of Police (Rural) posts in East Champaran, Samastipur, Madhubani, Vaishali, and Siwan.

These districts are considered vulnerable due to a higher crime rate, especially in rural areas.

Ahmedabad, May 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat travelled by train from Ahmedabad to New Delhi on Wednesday as part of a wider set of austerity and fuel-conservation measures adopted in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent call for “economic self-defence”.

The Governor departed from Sabarmati Railway Station in Ahmedabad for his onward journey to Kurukshetra, accompanied by Lady Governor Darshana Devi.

Senior railway officials received the couple at the station before the train’s scheduled departure.

During the visit, the Governor also reviewed ongoing redevelopment work at the station.

According to officials, the Governor has decided to avoid helicopter and air travel for official engagements within Gujarat until the petroleum situation normalises, and instead use trains, Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) buses and other forms of public transport.

The decision follows the Prime Minister’s seven-point appeal made in Hyderabad on May 10, urging citizens and public officials to reduce fuel consumption and adopt economically prudent practices amid global uncertainties.

The Governor said the measures were aimed at supporting fuel conservation and reducing unnecessary expenditure.

He also ordered that the number of vehicles in his official convoy be kept to the minimum required despite his Z-plus security cover. “Every drop of fuel and every rupee saved is a contribution to India’s self-reliance,” he said during a meeting with officials at Lok Bhavan in Gandhinagar.

As part of the broader initiative, the Governor has directed vice-chancellors of state universities to observe one “combustion engine-free” day every week.

Universities have been asked to encourage students and staff to use bicycles, electric vehicles, and public transport instead of petrol- and diesel-powered vehicles on those days.

Government departments were also advised to avoid unnecessary use of official vehicles and adopt fuel-saving practices in routine administrative work.

The latest train journey follows a series of public transport initiatives undertaken by the Governor in recent weeks.

Earlier this month, he travelled on a GSRTC bus from Surat’s Adajan bus stand to Jinod village in Olpad taluka, where he purchased his own ticket digitally and interacted with fellow passengers during the journey.

Officials said the Governor’s decisions were intended to reflect the “Nation First” approach highlighted by the Prime Minister while encouraging administrative restraint and conservation measures across public institutions.
