Mumbai, July 16 (IANS) Actress Eisha Singh, who became one of the most talked-about contestants in “Bigg Boss 18”, is unsure whether appearing on reality TV makes an actor more relevant but adds that it give audiences a chance to see the real person behind the on-screen character.

“I don't know about the relevance factor, but of course. Why do we love watching BTS, as in behind-the-scenes content? It's because we want to know more about them,” Eisha told IANS, when asked if reality show helps in making an actor relevant.

The actress, who finished at sixth place in “Bigg Boss 18”, added: “Today, you know (characters) Juhi, today you know Sayyam, but who Eisha is, how she behaves, or how Vijendra (Kumeria) behaves you'll only get to know that when you're watching them on a reality show because there's no filter, there's no character; it's just you.”

Eisha feels it certainly helps viewers connect with their personalities, habits, and lives beyond fiction.

“So, I think they're two very different things. I don't know about the relevance factor, but I think people also like knowing who Eisha is, what she wears, how she dresses up, what she eats, and how she behaves,” said the actress, who is currently seen on the Colors show “Juhi Mui”.

“That's also a factor.”

However, she stressed that acting and reality television are two completely different formats, with each having its own appeal and audience.

“Of course, reality shows have a different audience. There are so many different kinds of reality shows coming up. But acting is a completely different thing altogether. It's a different ball game altogether,” Eisha concluded.

The 26-year-old actress made her debut with Colors TV's soap drama Ishq Ka Rang Safed in 2015. She was also seen in the romantic dramas Ishq Subhan Allah and Sirf Tum.

While acknowledging that reality shows offer audiences a chance to know celebrities on a more personal level, the actor said his passion has always been fiction and that acting remains his first love.

Asked whether he believes reality TV helps audiences connect with actors on a more personal level, Vijayendra told IANS: “I know people who really like your work, who are your fans, they want to know more about you. There's social media, there's YouTube, BTS, you guys also show us, you take our interviews, you make a bridge between us and the fans.”

“So these are a few sources from which they can know more about us. Yeah, of course, reality is something different. They know a lot more about you on that.”

Is he interested in exploring the reality TV space?

Vijayendra said: “Fortunately, unfortunately, I have yet to explore that area.”

“I have been busy acting and acting is something I really love. And if I have been given choices between whenever I'm given choices between fiction and nonfiction, I've always chosen fiction.”

He says he was approached for some nonfiction shows,

“But that time I was doing something else. Never say never is the attitude that I have, maybe later. But yeah, what attracts me more is fiction,” added Vijayendra.

The actor is currently seen alongside Eisha Singh in the show “Juhi Mui”.

'Juhi Mui' traces the journey of Juhi Suri, a brilliant young autistic woman whose mind becomes her greatest strength in a world that often misunderstands her. How would she describe her camaraderie with him?

“I had a very good special bond with Ramji. Our cells were face to face. I was like a questionnaire in the house. I used to ask Ramji so many questions about their industry, about life, everything. He used to answer everything I asked. The first kiss of Ramji….”

“You guys only saw it for 5-10 minutes. We talked for 2.5 hours. Until he could convince me, he patiently answered everything I asked. So that is the relationship Ram ji and I share.”

“Gautami and I are so strong as a couple. When a boyfriend or crush comes into your life, you put your best foot forward, right? I put my worst foot forward. I told her all my worst things, but she started liking me despite that,” Ram was seen telling co-contestants Akanksha Chamola and Pamala Serena.

He went on to share that he realised Gautami, whom he met on the sets of “Ghar Ek Mandir” in 2000, was not happy in her first marriage.

“Slowly, I got to know she was not happy in her first marriage, and there was a two-and-a-half-year marriage, and in that time they lived apart. But then, our friendship had grown a lot. I started taking interest…. I used to ask questions and she gave me answers.”

“I found out she wanted to end the marriage. She wasn't getting support from her family. They were saying, ‘Absolutely not.’”

He told Gautami that he was there for her when she took the bold step of divorcing his first husband, Madhur Shroff.

“When Gautami made this decision, I told her that whatever she needed, I was there. I became one of her closest friends at that time.”

Ram said reality hit him during the shoot of “Monsoon Wedding” as he started to miss Gautami.

“Time passed, I was shooting for Monsoon Wedding in Delhi and we were talking on the phone at night. We had a long talk. After we hung up, I realised I missed her. I got scared. She was a very good person. I kind of withdrew from her and then I came back. I kept some distance. But then she picked up on it and asked me, ‘What’s going on?’”

Gautami too had feelings for Ram.

“Long story short, somehow she was feeling the same about me and she too was scared to say it to me. Gautami has no regrets about what happened to her. Gautami’s first husband is a good guy. He did nothing wrong.”

After dating for two years, Ram and Gautami got married in 2003. They have two children.

“We do have, I think we both take them with pride and the fact that we have a show around this topic. Of course, at the same time, we both have that responsibility on our shoulders, but I, yeah, I think, yeah, that's it. See, times are changing,” she concluded.

Eisha said it is high time that the audiences should be ready because stories like this don't come really often.

"A lot of people I know, they don't know what autism really is. So, to know about it and to understand its sensitivity, we should watch the show. We need to learn about it, and we need to approach people who are autistic with a little more kindness, inclusion and acceptance,” added Eisha.

Kay Kay Menon, who portrays the role of Gyaneshwar Tripathi in the series, shared, "Over the years, I have had the chance to play all kinds of characters—from intelligence officers and politicians to criminals—but I have never played a headmaster before.”

That immediately intrigued Kay Kay when he first read the script.

What drew him in even more was “how relatable Gyaneshwar is. He is not perfect and has many flaws, but he is also sharp, intuitive, and knows how to turn situations to his advantage.”

Caught between his Alliance and his brother, Arslan tried to keep the conversation from going downhill.

Standing by his point, Aly maintained that he wasn't targeting Kushal but taking a stand for Vanshaj, said: "Subha maine kya bola abhi yaha beth ke... disrespect karna age ko leke maine pura bola ke in logo ko maja kyu aata hai, but aapko yeh baat samjhni padegi ki uss ladke ne age ko leke kuch bola hi nahi hai pure season mein bhai. (This morning, what did I say while sitting here? I clearly said that making disrespectful remarks about someone's age is wrong, and I don't understand why people find it amusing. But you also need to understand that the boy hasn't said a single thing about anyone's age throughout the entire season, brother.)"

As the discussion continued, Kushal acknowledged what had shaped his opinion, said, "Mera pre notion tha ke ussne badtameezi kari hai, mera usse aur kuch nahi tha. (I had a preconceived notion that he had behaved disrespectfully. Other than that, I had no issue with him.)"

Kushal questioned Aly's intentions, believing the newest Ally was quietly encouraging others to stand against him, while Aly insisted he had only been asking everyone to play fearlessly.

The confrontation reached its peak when Kushal openly challenged Aly, stating: "Jo karna hai bahar karte hai kyuki andar toh kuch kar nahi sakte... mein toh bol raha hu task le aao aur karlo bhidne wala one on one kal ke kal. (Whatever has to happen, let's settle it outside because we can't do anything inside. I'm saying, just bring on a task and we'll go head-to-head, one-on-one, as early as tomorrow.)"

Aly remained unfazed, replying, "Jo marzi karna hai bhai. (Do whatever you want brother.)"

Riteish was addressing contestant Akanksha Chaudhary, as she was upset over being punished at last week’s judgement day over her behaviour with Shreya Kalra.

Akanksha was upset because she was “at risk” and wouldn’t be able to play in the “crackdown” to save herself this week due to her fight last week with Shreya.

Looking at her, Riteish said: “I just remembered one thing Salim Khan sahab had once told me, when fate kicks you… You are still moving, pushing forward two steps.”

Later in the show, the “Kharcha Paani” task was won by Shreya, who lifted 50 percent of Ram Kapoor’s weight and raked in Rs 1 lakh for their cell. The first one to lose were Madhuri Grover and Yogesh Rawat.

In the task, Yogesh even argued with Riteish, which did not go down well with the Bollywood star.

He later informed the contestants that no one is being favoured and that there is no “favouritism.”

Mumbai, July 11 (SocialNews.XYZ) Actress Akanksha Ranjan, whose latest release is the courtroom drama “Ikka”, has hopped onto the Dhurandhar fever, giving a fun twist to the Sunny Deol-starrer.

Akanksha, who plays a pivotal role in the film starring both Akshay and Sunny, shared a few BTS moments from the shoot and filming. The first featured her getting her fake blood on herself.

A video featured a scene from the film where Akshay’s character murders Akanksha’s character in the film. A few other peeks included a moment from the sets.

Akanksha, who made her acting debut with Guilty in 2020, added a dialogue inspired by Akshaye’s much-talked-about character Rehman Dakait from the blockbuster “Dhurandhar” for the caption.

Ikka is a legal thriller film directed and produced by Siddharth P. Malhotra. The film also stars Dia Mirza, Tillotama Shome, and Sanjeeda Sheikh.

Meanwhile, Dhurandhar is directed by Aditya Dhar. It is based on a high-stakes covert counter-terrorism operation. The film follows an undercover Indian intelligence agent who infiltrates Karachi's criminal syndicates and political power structures in Pakistan in an effort to dismantle a terror network targeting India.

The second installment traces the story of an undercover Indian intelligence agent who continues to infiltrate Karachi's criminal syndicates and Pakistani politics while avenging the 26/11 attacks and confronting bigger threats. The film's storyline draws loosely on several real-life geopolitical events and conflicts in South Asia.

Shreya went on to claim that she took a step back when she got to know that the two were in a relationship and that to avoid misunderstanding with Shivangi, she offered the actress her phone to clear any doubts about who texted first.

Wahi shadi ho gayi achanak se... Namak, kisne namak daal diya, kisne chana zyada upaal diya. All these things, you know. Those have already stopped, I guess.”

“(There are so many cliches on TV. The same old 'sudden marriage' twist... then the typical scenes like, 'Who added the salt?' or 'Who overcooked the chana?' and all those kinds of tracks. I think those have largely stopped now.)”

The 39-year-old actor said TV has come a long way from its over-the-top clichés, adding that he hopes sudden wedding twists, exaggerated family drama and endless zoom-ins remain firmly in the past.

Chandigarh, July 9 (SocialNews.XYZ) A public interest litigation (PIL) was filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday, seeking restoration of Diljit Dosanjh-starrer film 'Satluj' that was removed just days after its digital release on an OTT platform.

The petition said the removal of the film, based on activist Jaswant Singh Khalra’s efforts to uncover alleged disappearances during Punjab's insurgency era, without any public statutory or judicial order, "is violative of the constitutionally guaranteed freedom of expression and citizens' right to information".

Petitioner Sharwan Singh has named the Central government, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the Punjab government, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited, and ZEE5 as respondents in the petition.

"The abrupt removal of the film, without disclosure of any statutory order, judicial direction or lawful authority, has not only curtailed the fundamental right of the public to receive information and artistic expression under Article 19 (1) (a) of the Constitution of India but has also deprived thousands of bona-fide subscribers of access to content for which they had already paid consideration," the petition said.

The PIL said the sudden withdrawal of the film based upon documented historical events and the life of a human rights defender whose case has already been adjudicated upon by constitutional courts has given rise to serious concerns regarding transparency, freedom of artistic expression, and the possible existence of undisclosed executive interference.

"The film ‘Satluj’ is a biopic based upon true facts and the life story of late Jaswant Singh Khalra and does not affect the sovereignty and integrity of our country in any manner nor is it aimed to disrupt public order," it said.

Meanwhile, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has said it would screen "Satluj" across Punjab.

"This is aimed at ensuring that today's youth and our coming generations know about the unspeakable tragedy and repression unleashed by the then Congress governments against Bhai Jaswant Singh Khalra and thousands of other innocent Sikh youth who were eliminated through fake encounters," Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal said in a statement on Wednesday.

However, Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu has said allegations by certain politicians regarding the BJP or the Central government's role in the removal of "Satluj" from the OTT platform "are baseless, misleading and devoid of facts". He said the government certification and regulatory provisions relating to films primarily apply to theatrical releases, while satellite television and cable broadcasts are governed under separate statutory and regulatory frameworks. He said that attributing the removal of "Satluj" from ZEE5 to the BJP or the Central government has no factual or legal basis.

Eisha told IANS: “I highly doubt it will happen to this show. I hope not because the story is very different.”

The actress understands that the consumption for the TV show is for the “mass audience”.

“But then at the end of the day, we are serving to the mass audience and we sometimes show what they want to see. That is why I think around 2008 a show came on a different channel about autism and it took us 16 years to make a show like this. I think we show saas-bahu drama only because that's what audiences have wanted to watch.”

Stressing that the series revolves around a unique story centred on autism, the actress said viewers have welcomed its unconventional characters with open arms and open hearts.

“But times are changing, and television needs to change with them. Of course, there is still a space for saas-bahu drama, but at the same time, people are embracing Juhi Mui so beautifully. They have accepted the show with open arms and open hearts, and that's exactly what we wanted because these aren't your typical hero and heroine characters.”

“They are very different. They have their own flaws, they each live in their own world, and the story is about how they come together and begin to see the world from a completely different perspective. So far, the audience has showered us with a lot of love, and I sincerely hope the show doesn't end up becoming a typical saas-bahu saga.”

Prince spoke about his anxiety battle, during the conversation on Double Date. He shared that anxiety had taken over his life at one point.

"There was a time when I was taking 18 tablets a day. I had palpitations, night fear, weight gain, and several medical problems. It was one of the toughest phases of my life”, he said.

Prince added: “Music helped me a lot. It gave me peace when I was struggling." He also credited Yuvika for supporting him through the difficult phase.

The reality TV star said that it was his wife Yuvika, who handled him during that time.

“She stood by me when things were really difficult”.

He also addressed the rough patch in his marriage, revealing that both he and Yuvika were emotionally exhausted during that period. The situation became so difficult that they even considered parting ways.

"Neither Yuvika was wrong, nor was I. We were both not in the right headspace."

Prince revealed that becoming parents gave both of them a fresh perspective on life and marriage.

"After having a baby, life has completely changed. Now we don't even fight with each other. And even if we do, it gets resolved just by looking at our daughter."

With limited "kharcha paani," the housemates began questioning Shreya after she revealed she was on medication, something she hadn't mentioned earlier.

“Kharcha Paani” is the balance of digital money the contestants get every week to buy their meals in the show after. They earn it via tasks and nominations.

Shivangi later approached Shreya to ask if she was "really unwell," which led to an argument. The heated exchange left Shivangi in tears, and she turned to her friend and former co-star, Harshad Chopda, for comfort.

Seeing Shivangi in tears, Harshad was left furious and almost charged at Shreya. However, Shivangi and fellow contestant Akanksha Chamola managed to hold him back.

He was then seen screaming: “Aur us chudail ko bol mooh na khole apna (Ask that witch to shut her mouth).”

As Harshad lost his cool, Shivangi, Akanksha Chamola, and Ram Kapoor stepped in to calm him down.

Satluj, which was recently removed from an OTT platform just a day after it premiered, is a biographical drama film directed by Honey Trehan. The film is based on the life of the human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. It stars Diljit alongside Arjun Rampal, Kanwaljit Singh, Suvinder Vicky and Geetika Vidya Ohlyan.

The film follows Khalra's investigation into enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings carried out by Punjab Police during the Punjab insurgency of the early 1990s.

Jasbir Jassi shared a video of himself speaking in Punjabi and said it took immense courage to bring Khalra's story to the screen, and added that "sometimes people are afraid of the truth," while urging people to stand by truth and humanity.

Talking in Punjabi, Jasbir Jassi said that since the day the film Satluj was released, which was first made as Punjab 95, based on the life of Sardar Jaswant Singh Khalda Sahib, “a lot of media people, media friends were calling to say something about it, because it is a topic of discussion.”

He added: “I don't think any of the old films have been discussed so much. First of all, I would like to congratulate Honey Trehan. My fans are waiting for answers and I feel Lock Upp: Sach ya Sazaa will give me that space to do that. These allegations affected my mental health.”
