New Delhi, Oct 17 (SocialNews.XYZ) Vice-President (V-P) C.P. Radhakrishnan on Saturday expressed sorrow over the demise of renowned Tamil film music composer Deva.

In his condolence message, the Vice-President said that Deva had carved a distinct identity for himself in the Tamil film industry through his unique musical style and popular 'gaana' songs that captured the lives and emotions of people.

"Radhakrishnan noted that Deva had composed music for more than 400 films in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada, making a lasting contribution to Indian cinema," a statement said.

The Vice-President said that Deva's memorable compositions and distinctive contribution to 'gaana' music would continue to be cherished by generations of music lovers.

He described the composer's demise as a great loss to the Tamil film and music industry.

Radhakrishnan extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, relatives, friends, members of the film fraternity and music lovers.

Earlier, the news of the demise of Deva, popularly known as 'Thenisai Thendral', at a private hospital in Chennai on Saturday sent shockwaves across the Tamil film industry.

Deva, who was born on November 20, 1950, is credited with having scored music for several blockbusters, including Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Annamalai', 'Arunachalam' and 'Baasha'.

The music director, who made his debut in Tamil cinema in the year 1986 with the Tamil film 'Maatukaara Mannaru', is also known for having introduced the popular 'Gaana' form of music to cinema.

Deva, who composed several Gaana songs, has also sung several numbers.

Only a couple of weeks ago, the music director, who participated in the success meet of the Tamil film 'Meesaya Murukku 2' had disclosed why he had introduced Gaana songs to Tamil cinema.

"I was the 28th music director who got introduced to the film industry at a time when music director Ilaiyaraaja was ruling the roost. Before me, 27 music directors had made their debut and could not sustain. It is not a small thing if I could sustain at a time the music scene was dominated by two great music composers. On the one hand was Ilaiyaraaja, an iconic composer and on the other was A.R. Rahman. Any song I composed would either sound like a song composed by Raaja or if I scored a western number, it would sound like Rahman. It was under these circumstances that I wanted an identity for myself and therefore brought the Gaana songs," Deva had said during the event.

Sharing a glimpse into the messy realities of parenthood, Puth took to Instagram, where he posted a string of images of himself along with his baby.

“Still having a have a hard time changing the poopy diapers,” Puth, who welcomed his first baby, a boy with Brooke Sansone in March, wrote as the caption.

The singer started dating Brooke in 2022. The couple got engaged in 2023 and they married one year later. On October 16, 2025, he announced that his wife was pregnant with their first child together.

Puth’s initial exposure came through the viral success of his song covers uploaded to YouTube.

At 17, Puth started his own YouTube channel, entitled Charlies Vlogs, posting comedy videos and acoustic covers.During this time, he would make theme songs and jingles for other YouTubers.

He signed with Atlantic Records and Artist Partner Group to release his debut single, "Marvin Gaye" in 2015

Later that year, Puth went on to co-write, produce, and guest perform on Wiz Khalifa's single "See You Again", which climbed atop the US Billboard Hot 100 for 12 non-consecutive weeks, received diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association of America and earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song nomination, along with three nominations at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year.

Puth's single, "We Don't Talk Anymore", peaked at number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100.

His second album, Voicenotes, was met with a critical incline and similar commercial success; it spawned the hit single "Attention" and was nominated for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards.

New Delhi, Oct 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Delhi High Court on Tuesday directed the producer of "Mirzapur: The Movie" to donate Rs 50,000 to the Army Welfare Fund over the use of the song 'Shoorveer' in the film's climax, after it was submitted that the song had been voluntarily removed.

A Division Bench of Acting Chief Justice (ACJ) Nitin Wasudeo Sambre and Justice Sanjay Sharma was hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) challenging the use of the song, associated with the valour of Maharana Pratap and his followers, as background music in the climax of the movie.

The counsel appearing for the film's producer told the High Court that the song had been removed from the film on September 17 and was no longer being played in the movie.

In its order, the Delhi High Court recorded the submission made on behalf of the respondent that, in view of its conduct, an amount of Rs 50,000 would be voluntarily donated to the Army Welfare Fund within one week.

The ACJ-led Bench directed that the acknowledgement of the donation be placed on record within two weeks, cautioning that failure to do so would lead to the matter being listed for reconsideration, limited to the aspect of costs to be paid by the respondent.

"If the acknowledgement is produced, the order directing disposal of the present petition shall govern the proceedings," the High Court said.

During the hearing, the Delhi High Court observed that had the song not been removed voluntarily, it would have directed its removal.

The petition alleged that 'Shoorveer', originally created as a tribute to Maharana Pratap, had been used in a gangster sequence in a manner that glorified criminals and hurt public sentiments.

Directed by Gurmmeet Singh, the film is presented by Amazon MGM Studios in collaboration with Excel Entertainment. Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar have jointly backed the project under the Excel Entertainment banner, with Kassim Jagmagia and Vishal Ramchandani serving as co-producers. The film adaptation of the popular series saw the return of Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, Rasika Dugal, Shweta Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Harshita Gaur, while Jitendra Kumar and Ravi Kishan are among the new additions to the cast.

New Delhi, Oct 5 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Supreme Court on Monday deferred the hearing on the bail plea of Shyamkanu Mahanta, an accused in the case concerning the death of Assam’s iconic singer Zubeen Garg in Singapore, and posted the matter for further hearing in the first week of November.

Mahanta, who is currently lodged in Baksa jail along with five other accused, was arrested in October 2025, a month after Garg died in Singapore.

During the hearing, the Assam government apprised the apex court of the progress of the trial and informed it that the examination of witnesses was underway.

The state said that statements of 94 out of 394 witnesses had been recorded as of August 14. It also informed the apex court that several important witnesses based in Singapore were yet to be examined and their statements were expected to be recorded shortly.

The Supreme Court had earlier directed the state authorities to ensure that the trial proceeds expeditiously and without unnecessary delay.

The progress made in the trial has also been taken into consideration while hearing Mahanta’s plea for bail.

Garg, one of Assam’s most popular musicians and cultural icons, died in Singapore in September 2025 after an incident at sea. His death triggered widespread grief across Assam and raised questions over the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Assam government subsequently ordered a criminal investigation into the circumstances leading to his death. The investigation later resulted in the arrest of several people and criminal proceedings against them.

Mahanta, who was associated with the organisation of the North East India Festival in Singapore, was among those arrested in connection with the case.

Investigators have examined the circumstances surrounding Garg’s presence in Singapore and the events preceding his death.

A fast-track court in Assam has framed murder charges against four accused, including Mahanta, in the case. Besides Mahanta, six other individuals, including Garg’s bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, have been arrested and are facing investigation and proceedings in connection with the case.

Five other accused are currently lodged in Baksa jail, according to the state’s submission before the Supreme Court.

With key witnesses from Singapore still to be examined, the prosecution’s evidence remains under way. The apex court is now scheduled to consider Mahanta’s bail plea again in the first week of November.

Speaking at a programme organised at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan here on Thursday, CM Saha said that Sachin Dev Burman's journey from his roots in the erstwhile Royal family of Tripura to becoming one of India's most celebrated musicians was an inspiration for the younger generation.

The Chief Minister added that the state government had donated the house associated with the legendary musician, who belonged to the Royal family but remained grounded despite his aristocratic background.

"He belonged to the Royal family, where he had access to everything, but he left it all behind and created his own identity," CM Saha said.

He recalled that Sachin Dev Burman was born in Comilla, now in Bangladesh, and said the folk traditions, melodies and songs of the region deeply influenced his musical sensibilities.

CM Saha said that Burman later moved to Kolkata and subsequently to Mumbai, where he established himself as one of India's most influential singers and composers.

His distinctive musical style and songs continue to remain popular in India and abroad, he added.

"Today is his birth anniversary. I extend my greetings to the people of Tripura and the entire country on this occasion. It is a matter of pride that such a great singer and composer was born in connection with Tripura," the Chief Minister said.

Chief Minister Saha, who holds the Information and Cultural Affairs portfolio, described Burman as a self-made personality who carved out a place for himself in the world of music through determination and hard work rather than relying on his royal background.

He said that Burman's ability to blend classical traditions, including elements of Dhrupad and Hindustani classical music, with folk melodies gave his compositions a distinctive character that continues to resonate with music lovers.

"Music is something that remains in everyone's heart," CM Saha added.

The Chief Minister urged the younger generation to learn more about Burman's life, musical journey and determination, saying his life could inspire people, particularly the youth, to pursue their goals with dedication and self-confidence.

Information and Cultural Affairs Secretary Kiran Gitte, Director of Information and Cultural Affairs Bimbisar Bhattacharya and other officials were present at the programme.

New Delhi, Oct 1 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to interfere with the Delhi High Court order restraining the use of the song "En Iniya Pon Nilave" from the Tamil film "Moodu Pani" without a licence from Saregama India Ltd.

A bench of Justices J.B. Pardiwala and K. Vinod Chandran dismissed the special leave petition (SLP) filed by music composer Ilaiyaraaja, challenging the Delhi High Court's interim order in his copyright dispute with Saregama India Ltd.

The apex court, while dismissing the plea, held that no error, "not to speak of any error of law", could be said to have been committed by the High Court in granting the injunction sought by Saregama.

The Justice Pardiwala-led Bench also clarified, on a request made on behalf of Ilaiyaraaja, that the findings in the Delhi High Court judgment were prima facie and would not operate as a precedent on the merits of the dispute.

"It is needless to clarify that the observations in the impugned judgment are prima facie, for the purpose of deciding the issue in question," it said.

The dispute pertains to Saregama's claim that Vels Film International Ltd (VFIL) had infringed its copyright by recreating the song "En Iniya Pon Nilave" for its film "Aghathiyaa", based on a licence obtained from Ilaiyaraaja.

In its judgment passed on May 21, the Delhi High Court had held that copyright in the sound recording of the song vested with Saregama, while Ilaiyaraaja continued to hold copyright in the underlying musical work composed by him.

A division bench of Justices C. Hari Shankar and Om Prakash Shukla had observed that Ilaiyaraaja's rights were limited to the musical component of the song and did not extend to its lyrics or the original sound recording. It held that without a licence or permission from Saregama, VFIL could not exploit the sound recordings contained in "Moodu Pani", including the sound recording relating to "En Iniya Pon Nilave".

"By recreating/adapting the said sound recording, therefore, VFIL has infringed the copyright of SIL," the High Court had said.

The division bench had consequently concurred with the single judge's decision granting an injunction and dismissing Ilaiyaraaja's appeal.

The High Court had also examined an agreement entered into on March 17, 2023, between Ilaiyaraaja and VFIL, under which the composer had granted the producer rights to adapt and recreate the original song and its underlying works. However, the High Court held that Ilaiyaraaja was not the owner of copyright in the original sound recording or the lyrics and, therefore, could not have assigned those rights to VFIL.

The case originated from the 1980 agreement between the producer of "Moodu Pani" and Saregama's predecessor, under which copyright in the sound recordings contained in the film was transferred to the company for consideration in the form of royalty. The Delhi High Court had held that Saregama consequently became the owner of copyright in the sound recordings contained in "Moodu Pani", including "En Iniya Pon Nilave".

He also highlighted the musician’s role in bringing people together through his music.

“A voice that carried Assam to India, and India to the world. A voice that brought us together,” CM Sarma said in his post while announcing the November 29 programme.

The event at Bharat Mandapam is expected to bring together artistes from Assam as well as other parts of India, providing a national platform to celebrate Hazarika’s contribution to Indian music and culture.

CM Sarma said the centenary celebration would focus on keeping alive the spirit and musical legacy of the legendary artiste, whose songs and compositions continue to resonate across generations.

Popularly known as “Sudhakantha”, Hazarika made a lasting contribution to Assamese music while also building a wider cultural connect through his work in several Indian languages.

The centenary celebrations have been organised to commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of Hazarika, whose music and literary works have had a lasting influence not only in Assam and the Northeast but across India and beyond.

Hazarika, who was born on September 8, 1926, in Assam, was known for his distinctive musical style and compositions that drew extensively from the cultural traditions and social realities of the Northeast.

His songs often addressed themes of humanity, social harmony, equality and the lives of ordinary people. The artist was conferred the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour, posthumously in 2019. He had earlier received several other major national honours, including the Padma Vibhushan and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

The concluding ceremony at Bharat Mandapam is expected to mark the culmination of a year-long series of programmes celebrating Hazarika’s life, music and cultural legacy.

The Assam government has been highlighting the centenary as an opportunity to showcase Hazarika’s contribution to Indian cultural heritage and to introduce his works to younger generations. The final event is expected to bring together cultural personalities, dignitaries and artistes for a large-scale tribute to the legendary musician and filmmaker.

Mendes took to Instagram, where he shared a string of glimpses from his album. He went on to express gratitude for the love and friendship he has received over the years, saying the album that it changed his “life forever”.

He wrote: “Oh man what a feeling to go through all these videos and photos. I guess what I feel is that in 10 years your life can really change in ways you never imagined for yourself, but ultimately those parts of us that make art and play and laugh come from the same pure place no matter how much time has passed… guys thank you.”

“This album changed my life forever and I’ll never ever get tired of saying this.. I am so grateful for your love and friendship over the years. Here’s to 10 years of illuminate and here’s to 10 more Illuminate (10th Anniversary Edition) is out now.”

Illuminate is the second studio album by Mendes. It was released in September 2016. It is a follow-up to his debut album Handwritten.

Mendes gained a following in 2013 when he posted song covers on the video-sharing platform. The following year, he caught the attention of artist manager Andrew Gertler and Island Records A&R Ziggy Chareton, which led to his signing a deal with the record label.

Mendes's self-titled debut EP was released in 2014, followed by his debut studio album Handwritten in 2015. Handwritten debuted atop the US Billboard 200, making Mendes one of five artists ever to debut at number one before the age of 18.

The single "Stitches" reached number one in the UK and the top 10 in the US and Canada. Mendes's second album Illuminate also debuted at number one in the US, with its singles "Treat You Better" and "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back". In 2019, he released "Señorita", which peaked atop the US Billboard Hot 100.

Billy, who is the father of Grammy winner Miley Cyrus took to Instagram, where he shared a glimpse of the handwritten letter and reflected on their decades-long friendship and musical collaborations.

He wrote: “Never have I shared this… until now. I’ve posted one of my most prized possessions before: a handwritten letter from Johnny Cash. This one sits right beside it. To me they go together … Brother Cash and Sister Parton.”

He tagged the letter as one of his most prized possessions and paid tribute to Parton as one of his heroes.

“They are the hearts and minds of two of my heroes that both took the time to express their most personal and sincere thoughts to an ole Kentucky Boy,” wrote Billy.

He went on to add: “@dollyparton gave it to me a few weeks after we first met in Chicago in the spring of 1992. ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ was just beginning to take off and Some Gave All hadn’t even been released yet.”

“And soon after I received this letter, we’d go on to sing ‘Romeo’ together with Tanya Tucker, Kathy Mattea and Mary Chapin Carpenter. So many memories and moments with Dolly, from network television specials to Hannah Montana. More than 30 years later, we’d do our last song together, Christmas Where We Are. Dolly Parton passed away in August at the age of 80. Her nephew, Bryan Seaver, who was also her head of security, revealed the news in an Instagram video. She died after a brief battle with cancer.

The film follows Azad, who rescues a girl from a brothel. It attracts the ire of the mob and helps her achieve her dream with Dhiren's aid. However, both the men fall in love with her while the mobs seek revenge on Azad.

Meenakshi became one of Hindi cinema's leading actresses in the 1980s and 1990s. She made her debut with the film Painter Babu in 1983 and her second film Hero catapulted her to instant stardom.

Guwahati, Sep 23 (SocialNews.XYZ) The prosecution continued examining witnesses in the death case of renowned Assamese singer Zubeen Garg on Wednesday, with Singapore-based Assamese Abhimanyu Talukdar appearing before the fast-track court in Assam in connection with the events surrounding the singer's final hours in Singapore.

Talukdar is among several overseas-based Assamese witnesses whose statements are being recorded as the court examines circumstances surrounding the yacht party attended by Garg on September 19, 2025, the day he died in Singapore.

The singer, 52, died after an incident during a yacht trip in waters off Lazarus Island in Singapore.

He had been in the city for the North East India Festival and was scheduled to perform at the event the following day.

The circumstances surrounding his death subsequently triggered investigations and legal proceedings in Assam.

The fast-track court in Assam has since been hearing the case, with the prosecution bringing witnesses linked to the yacht party and events preceding Garg's death.

Earlier this month, Singapore-based Assamese Parikshit Sharma appeared before the court and recorded his testimony. He was among those present aboard the yacht when the incident occurred on September 19, 2025.

Other overseas witnesses examined by the court include Sushmita Goswami, Pratim Lahkar and Debajyoti Hazarika.

Jio Langsat Narzary has also been listed among the expatriate witnesses appearing in the proceedings.

The witness examination is focused on accounts relating to the yacht outing and the sequence of events surrounding Garg's death. Their statements are being placed before the court as part of the prosecution evidence.

The proceedings in Assam are continuing even as Singapore authorities have separately concluded their investigation into Garg's death.

Singapore's State Coroner Adam Nakhoda said in March 2026 that Garg's death was an accidental drowning, while the Singapore Police Force said its investigation found no evidence of foul play.

While the Singapore Police concluded that there was no evidence of foul play in the singer's death, the Assam Criminal Investigation Department constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter following allegations raised by members of the singer's family and others.

The SIT subsequently registered a criminal case and filed a chargesheet naming seven accused persons, including Garg's manager Siddhartha Sarma, the festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, the late singer's bandmates Shekharjyoti Goswami and Amritprabha Mahanta—who were slapped with murder charges and alleging a criminal conspiracy linked to the incident.

The Assam court proceedings are examining the case and evidence placed before it under the applicable Indian legal process.

With Talukdar's appearance, the prosecution's examination of witnesses connected with the Singapore incident continues.

More witness statements are expected as the fast-track court proceeds with the trial.

Saikia said he has digitally archived more than 200 songs by the celebrated singer that, according to him, are unavailable on YouTube and other major online music platforms.

His collection reflects an earlier era of music consumption, when physical audio and video cassettes were among the primary ways audiences accessed songs. Many recordings from that period face the risk of deterioration, damage, and permanent loss as the original tapes age.

Through his digital preservation efforts, Saikia aims to protect these recordings from disappearing and ensure that a part of Zubeen Garg's extensive musical work remains accessible beyond the lifespan of physical media.

The archive includes recordings collected over an extended period, highlighting the personal efforts of music enthusiasts to preserve material that may not have received a formal digital release.

Zubeen Garg, one of Assam's most influential singers and musicians, built a diverse musical career spanning Assamese and several other Indian languages. His songs continue to hold a strong place in the cultural and musical landscape of the Northeast.

While several of his works are available through digital services, older recordings can be difficult to locate, particularly when they were released through limited physical editions or remain outside major streaming catalogues.

Taking to X, formerly called Twitter, Akhtar mentioned that Jai Kishan was originally supposed to compose the music for the Hema Malini-starrer 1972 film ‘Seeta Aur Geeta’, but passed away in 1971 at the age of 41 before the project could take shape.

Akhtar wrote: “On 12th September 1971 music director Jai Kishan had passed away at the age of 41. I had a very short association with him . Originally he was to give music for Sita aur Gita.”

“I had narrated the script to him but then death took him away . Our few meetings have left a deep impression on me . He was a very nice man,” he added.

Seeta Aur Geeta is directed by Ramesh Sippy. It stars stars Hema Malini in a dual role playing the titular identical twins who are separated at birth and grow up with different temperaments. When they meet as adults, they swap places.

The film also stars Sanjeev Kumar and Dharmendra, Manorama, Roopesh Kumar, Satyen Kappu, Honey Irani and Pratima Devi.

Jaikishan worked in a duo with composer Shankar Singh Ram Singh Raghuvanshi. The two were together called Shankar–Jaikishan. They worked together from 1949 to 1971.

Shankar–Jaikishan collaborated with legendary singers such as Mukesh, Mohammed Rafi, Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar, Talat Mahmood, Lata Mangeshkar, Suman Kalyanpur, Asha Bhosle and Sharda They also worked heavily with lyricists Shailendra and Hasrat Jaipuri, with whom they created some of the most memorable songs in their career. The duo composed for notable films, including Mera Naam Joker, Dharti, Pagla Kahin Ka, Tum Haseen Main Jawaan and Pehchan, Andaz.

Jaikishan died on September 12, 1971 due to Liver Cirrhosis. After Jaikishan's untimely demise, Shankar continued to compose under the name Shankar-Jaikishan. However, after a string of failures, he tasted success with musical blockbusters in Manoj Kumar starrers Be-Imaan and Sanyasi.

The singer’s daughters Aahana and Smeera have provided background vocals for this song, making it even more special for Abhijeet.

Abhijeet said: “Having my daughters accompany me on a song for Bappa is Bappa’s divine coincidence. The feeling when I recorded Gana Dhaav Re with Aahana and Smeera was very emotional.”

Talking about Abhijeet, after making an impact with “Indian Idol” Season 1, his first solo album, Aapka Abhijeet Sawant, was released in 2005. That year he also did playback singing in the movie Aashiq Banaya Aapne, performing the song Mar Jaawan Mit Jaawan.

His second album, Junoon, was released in 2007. He released his third studio album in 2013, which was titled Farida.

Abhijeet Sawant made his acting debut in the movie Lottery in 2009. He also made a small appearance at the end of the film Tees Maar Khan. He made a special appearance as himself in the romantic drama series Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai and the thriller crime series C.I.D.

The Dutchess was released on September 13, 2006.The album was recorded between The Black Eyed Peas' tour dates in 2005, and the songs were written in the eight years preceding its release.

Fergie wanted to create an autobiographical album that would be more intimate between her and the listener. The Dutchess peaked at number two on the US Billboard 200 and was praised by music critics for its production and Fergie's vocals, but some criticized its lyrics and felt the material was not strong enough for her voice. It has since been considered an influential pop album of the 2000s.

The Dutchess is one of the best-selling albums of the 2000s, propelled by five of its singles which set a number of records. "Big Girls Don't Cry", "Glamorous", and "London Bridge" topped the Billboard Hot 100, and "Clumsy" and "Fergalicious" appeared within the top five.

Tyga, whose real name is Micheal Ray Stevenson, took to Instagram, where he shared a picture of himself sitting next to his mother’s grave and wrote: “Happy Bday Mom. I Love you and we miss u everyday.”

Tyga's mother passed away on January 18, 2025, at the age of 53. The rapper had shared the news a month later through a heartfelt Instagram tribute on February 21, 2025.

Tyga’s name is a backronym for Thank You God Always. He signed a recording contract with Lil Wayne's Young Money Entertainment, an imprint of Cash Money Records and Republic Records in 2008.

His second album and major label debut, Careless World: Rise of the Last King in 2012, peaked at number four on the Billboard 200, received platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

It spawned the Billboard Hot 100-top ten single "Rack City", as well as the top 40 single "Faded". His most notable instrument is the piano. He has been credited as "the first musician to have played the santoor and Indian classical music on the piano".

He was raised and educated in the United Kingdom. He was previously a Canadian citizen, but became a naturalised Indian citizen in 2016.

Guwahati, Sep 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Thursday announced that legendary British virtual band Gorillaz will perform in Guwahati on January 31, 2027, as part of the group’s first-ever tour of India.

Taking to social media, Sarma said Guwahati has been selected as one of the host cities for the landmark India tour and expressed excitement over welcoming the band as well as music fans from across the country.

“Delighted to announce that the legendary Gorillaz will perform in Guwahati on January 31, 2027, as part of their first ever India tour,” Sarma said.

He added that Guwahati was “proud to be among the host cities” for the tour and said the city was looking forward to hosting both the band and fans travelling to Assam for the performance.

The announcement marks a major development for Assam’s entertainment and cultural landscape, with an internationally recognised act set to perform in the state.

The concert is also expected to draw visitors from different parts of India, potentially giving a boost to the city’s tourism and hospitality sectors.

Gorillaz, known for their distinctive blend of alternative rock, hip-hop, electronic music and pop, have developed a global following since their formation in the late 1990s.

The band is the brainchild of musician Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett and is recognised for its animated members and multimedia-driven performances.

The Guwahati show will form part of the band's maiden India tour, bringing the group’s music and visual spectacle to Indian audiences.

Jay took to Instagram and shared a glimpse of the track, which also appeared in the 2003 film “Boom,” starring Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif, Jackky Shroff, Zeenat Aman, and Padma Lakshmi, to name a few.

“23 years ago, the three of us walked into a studio and made a song with no idea where it might lead. There was no strategy, no overthinking, just pure vibes. We were just enjoying making the music that felt natural to us - bringing together the sounds and cultures that had shaped who we were,” she wrote in the caption.

“‘Dance With You’ went on to become so much to so many. Even tho it marked the beginning of my career, and in so many ways, the beginning of a life I could only dream of- what means even more to me today is what it became for other people,” he wrote.

The singer, whose real name is Kamaljit Singh Jhooti, added: “To see something we created so instinctively connect with, particularly, South Asians around the world and become part of people’s memories and help shape a sound and a space for our community in music was something none of us could have predicted.”

Hazarika, born on September 8, 1926 and known as 'Sudhakantha' (nectar-voiced) and the Bard of the Brahmaputra, left a profound musical legacy that blended Assamese folk traditions with universal themes of humanity, justice, unity, and social conscience.

Taking to X, PM Modi said, "On his 100th birth anniversary, remembering the legendary Dr Bhupen Hazarika Ji. His voice carried the soul of Assam and the spirit of the Northeast to the entire nation. "

She shared the making of the song on Instagram and wrote: “THIRTY YEARS AGO this path breaking music video of my song ‘Dehka Dehka’, from the album Talaash, was released.”

Suneeta said that the song was shot in unconventional locales at that time.

“Shot in unusual locations around Bangalore, like stone quarries, blast furnaces in factories and the Kuteeram Resort of Nrithyagram, this was a sort of mini movie in itself,” said Suneeta.

She added: “With Sunil Shetty and Arati Rao Shetty at the helm, DOP Anil Mehta behind the camera, choreographers Daksha Seth and Avit Dias, costumes by Hemant Trivedi and make up by Cory Walia, all stalwarts in their fields, the shoot took four days of rigorous rehearsals, including waking up at unearthly hours to practise the discipline of Kalaripayattu, the martial art dance of Kerala.”

Talking about her look in the song, she said: “I was dancing in high heeled boots and a short bronze leather skirt and midriff blouse atop a blast furnace and prancing around sky high, huge earthen domes! It was the most challenging and exciting experience of my Indipop life.”

“I broke all barriers and shook off the image of the angelic Paree, making sure I grabbed the attention of my unsuspecting audience.”

The singer said that the music video told the story about how a woman finally breaks free from an abusive relationship.

“The video was based on an abusive relationship in which the woman finally has enough and packs her bags and leaves, saying to anyone who would dare to cross her path: ‘Dil Bacha!!’”

“With the use of “Kanjira”, the South Indian percussion instrument, along with Rajasthani chants competing with distorted rock guitar, Ranjit and I made a cheeky and bold step into an unfamiliar musical space. A risk I was only too keen to take!”

His 2009 single, "Down", making him the first solo artist of South Asian origin and first UK urban act to top the Hot 100. As of 2011, it is the fifth best selling song by a British artist in the digital era.
