Hyderabad, May 31 (SocialNews.XYZ) Unidentified men attacked a couple, killing the woman in front of her husband in Telangana’s Sangareddy district, police said on Sunday.

The incident occurred at IDA Bollaram near Hyderabad on Saturday night.

According to police, Anil Kumar, a native of Bihar and his wife Meena Devi were returning home on a bike from the market. The vehicle broke down near Gundigudem playground.

Some unidentified men attacked Anil Kumar and dragged his wife into the bushes and slit her throat, resulting in her death.

When Anil Kumar tried to rescue his wife, they attacked him with knives. He sustained grievous injuries and was admitted to a private hospital.

The body of Meena Devi (35) was shifted to the mortuary at the local government hospital for post-mortem examination.

The victim’s gold ornaments were untouched, and there were no signs of sexual assault.

On a complaint by Anil Kumar, a case was registered at IDA Bollaram Police Station.

The couple were residing in Venkateshwara Colony. On Saturday evening, they went to the market to buy some groceries. As they were returning home and their vehicle broke down at an isolated place, unidentified men attacked them.

In another incident in Kamareddy district of Telangana, a man was murdered over a land dispute.

The body of Raja Reddy, who was missing for the last three days, was found in a well in Lingapur village.

Police found the deceased’s two-wheeler and mobile phone near a function hall. Police took up the investigation and arrested a man and his son for the murder. The accused confessed to their crime and led the police to the area where they had dumped the body.

Meanwhile, a married woman died under suspicious circumstances in Rangareddy district.

Bhavani, who had married only 11 months ago, allegedly died by suicide at her residence. However, her parents alleged that she was murdered. The incident occurred under the limits of Rajendranagar Police Station of Cyberabad Commissionerate.

Police shifted the body to Osmania General Hospital for post-mortem examination. Bhavani had married Srikanth Mudiraj in June last year. She was allegedly being harassed by her in-laws. On a complaint by Bhavani’s parents, police registered a case and took up the investigation.

Mohini Mani, 84, passed away on Saturday due to age-related ailments. Mohini Mani had been residing at the family’s home in Palavakkam and had reportedly been undergoing treatment for age-related health complications in recent days. Her demise has triggered widespread grief among members of the film fraternity, political leaders and Ajith Kumar’s large fan base across Tamil Nadu.

Ajith Kumar, one of Tamil cinema’s leading actors and an avid international car racer, was in Dubai when his mother passed away. Upon receiving the news, he immediately returned to Chennai on Saturday night to be with his family.

The actor had earlier suffered a personal loss in 2023 when his father, P. Subramaniam, passed away following prolonged illness. The death of Mohini Mani marks another major bereavement for the actor and his family.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay visited Ajith Kumar’s residence in Palavakkam and personally conveyed his condolences to the actor and his family members.

The Chief Minister spent time with the bereaved family and expressed his sympathies over the loss.

Several prominent personalities from the Tamil film industry also paid their respects.

Veteran actor and politician R. Sarathkumar, actor Nassar, and actress Trisha Krishnan visited Ajith Kumar’s residence and consoled the actor and his family members.

The funeral procession carrying Mohini Mani’s mortal remains commenced from Injambakkam and proceeded to the Besant Nagar Crematorium. Ajith Kumar and family members followed the hearse as mourners gathered along the route to pay their final respects.

At the crematorium, Ajith Kumar performed the last rites of his mother in accordance with family traditions. Relatives, close friends and members of the film fraternity attended the solemn ceremony.

The Trinamool MP was seen falling on the road with a head injury. He pointed his finger at BJP workers for the attack. However, the BJP has denied the allegation and said Banerjee faced the wrath of the people who have been tortured by his party.

Earlier, on Saturday, Trinamool General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee was attacked and harassed while visiting Sonarpur in South 24 Parganas district.

On Sunday morning, Kalyan Banerjee and Trinamool workers went to Chanditala police station to submit a memorandum. They were also protesting by sitting in front of the police station. It is alleged that a black flag was shown to him at that time and slogans were shouted. Kalyan said that stones were hurled at him from a distance at that time. One of them hit him on the head.

After this, Kalyan pointed his finger at the BJP and said, "Shuvendu Adhikari is a murderous Chief Minister. He wants to kill (us) by any means. My appeal to the people of Bengal is to be aware. Today, you are beating me, you are watching from afar. Tomorrow, when the BJP goons drag your daughter, no one will be by your side. Hyderabad, May 31 (SocialNews.XYZ) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and state Congress president Mahesh Goud on Sunday met AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge here.

The Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and other senior leaders called on Kharge at the Novotel Hotel near Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad.

AICC In-charge for Telangana Meenakshi Natarajan was also present during the meeting.

Kharge had stopped en route from New Delhi to Gulbarga in Karnataka.

Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) described it as a courtesy call.

According to party sources, the meeting lasted for an hour and a half. Current political developments in the state and government programmes were reportedly discussed during the meeting.

Meanwhile, CMO said in a statement on Sunday that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will hold a review meeting with officials regarding the implementation of the Employees' Health Scheme, which the government is introducing to ensure health security for employees and pensioners in Telangana.

The review meeting is scheduled on Monday.

This scheme will be implemented through the Employee Health Care Trust. The Trust will comprise eight members -- six representatives from employee associations and two from pensioners' associations, the CMO said.

A state government employee will be appointed as the CEO of this Trust. The formation of this committee is likely to be announced on Monday.

The process of collecting the necessary details for the implementation of this scheme has already commenced. The Finance Department has issued a circular to all government departments, directing them to collect the details of government employees, pensioners, and their family members.

The circular explicitly stated that this data must be uploaded by May 31. Based on these details, the government will take measures to issue digital health cards and provide cashless medical treatment services.

The State Cabinet on February 23 approved the Employees’ Health Scheme, which will cover 3.56 lakh employees, 2.88 lakh pensioners, and their dependent family members (a total of 17.07 lakh beneficiaries).

It was announced that treatment will be completely cashless in all government hospitals and 652 empanelled private hospitals. This will cover 1,998 medical procedures.

Employees will contribute 1.5 per cent of basic pay while there will be a matching contribution from the government. The Trust will have an annual outlay of Rs 1,056 crore (Rs 528 crore each by employees and government).

Visakhapatnam, May 31 (SocialNews.XYZ) Three persons were killed and seven others injured when an RTC bus rammed into a stationary lorry at Gajuwaka near Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, early Sunday morning.

According to police, the accident occurred near Srinagar when a bus belonging to Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) collided with the lorry parked on the road around 4 a.m.

Two women and a driver died on the spot. Seven others were injured, and they have been admitted to King George Hospital in Visakhapatnam.

The bus was on its way from Rajamahendravam to Ramabhadrapuram in Vizianagaram district. There were 30 passengers on board the bus.

Alerted by passersby, Gajuwaka police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured. A police officer said they have registered a case and taken up further investigation.

The Super Luxury bus of APSRTC was badly mangled in the collision.

State Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy expressed shock over the accident involving the RTC bus at Gajuwaka.

The minister conveyed his profound condolences to the families of the two women and the driver who lost their lives in the accident.

The minister visited KGH Hospital to console the families of the deceased and call on the injured.

On this occasion, the minister announced that an ex gratia payment of Rs 5 lakh would be provided to the families of the deceased.

He inquired with the doctors regarding the health condition of the injured and directed officials to ensure that they receive the highest quality of medical care.

The minister was accompanied by MLA and TDP State President Palla Srinivas, District Collector Abhishek, and other officials. The minister assured the affected families that both the government and the RTC would stand by them in this difficult time.

The transport minister directed officials to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the causes of the accident and submit a report.

Meanwhile, in another accident in Andhra Pradesh’s Annamayya district, two RTC buses collided head-on, resulting in injuries to four persons.

The accident occurred near Aravidu in Galiveedu Mandal. Tirumalayya, driver of one of the buses and three passengers sustained injuries. The injured were shifted to a hospital in Galiveedu.

Remembering her first shoot in Switzerland, Sonam revealed that they were asked to go with the flow while shooting the romantic number, for which they had not even done any rehearsals.

Dropping a glimpse of 'Zindagi Har Janam' on her official Insta handle, Sonam shared her shooting experience, saying, "My first trip to Switzerland! We shot this song in a single day! No rehearsals, We were just asked to go with the flow & enjoy the song before the cable car would reach the bottom of the mountain as instructed by Yash Chopra Ji, there was just about enough space for Rishi Sir, Me, Yash Ji and the Cinematographer...Memories to last forever (sic)".

In April, Sonam disclosed that she ended up losing her luggage during the Switzerland schedule of "Vijay".

Revealing how Yash Chopra reacted after seeing her eating the snow like a kid, Sonam wrote on the photo-sharing app, "For the shoot of my first movie Vijay, it was the first time I had ever traveled outside India—and to Switzerland, no less! I was so excited that when I saw snow for the first time, I actually ate some! Yash Chopra ji started laughing so much; he truly saw the kid in me. As you can tell, I definitely had two left feet when it came to dancing!"

Sonam added that as she lost her luggage, along with the costumes for the song, they ended up shopping for clothes in the local market.

She stated that, given it was summertime in Switzerland then, they were only able to get a swimming costume, paired with a short skirt, which she can be seen wearing in the song.

Mumbai, May 30 (SocialNews.XYZ) Amid the buzz around Congress leader Y.S. Sharmila's rumoured Rajya Sabha nomination from Karnataka, Shiv Sena and Shiv Sena-UBT said on Saturday that it would be a "good decision" on part of the grand old party if Sharmila indeed receives the opportunity.

The reactions followed a day after Andhra Pradesh Congress President Y. S. Sharmila met senior party leader and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi in the national capital amid reports that the party high command is considering her name for nomination to the Upper House.

According to Shiv Sena Spokesperson Krishna Hegde, there are three or four Rajya Sabha seats for which Congress is contesting in Karnataka.

Talking to IANS, Hegde said: "There is a tussle between the factions of D.K. Shivakumar and caretaker Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Both sides are trying to ensure their respective candidates for the Rajya Sabha."

Mentioning that Sharmila's father Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy was the former Karnataka Chief Minister, Hegde said: "He (Reddy) had made a very big contribution to Congress."

Supporting YS Sharmila's purported candidature, the Shiv Sena Spokesperson said: "She is a young face whose father's contribution is immense for their party. That is why if the Congress agrees to give her a seat, considering his contributions, it would be a good thing."

"Whether Karnataka's Congress leadership accepts YS Sharmila's candidature or not, remains to be seen," Hegde added.

However, he said that it is an internal matter of the Congress, which the Shiv Sena does not want to be a part of.

Shiv Sena-UBT leader Anand Dubey admitted that Y. S. Sharmila has a "good influence" in Andhra Pradesh and parts of Telangana.

"I think if she wants to work hard for the Congress and is willing for a Rajya Sabha seat from Karnataka, then it will be a mutual agreement between her and the party," he told IANS.

He highlighted that Sharmila is the sister of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is the YSR Congress Party Chief, while the former is a Congress leader.

Dubey advised the Congress to think about how to gain from the situation at hand.

"If the party (Congress) wants it should promote a woman who wants to work for the country and send her to the Rajya Sabha," he said.

He also added that the Congress can easily win at least three of the four Rajya Sabha seats in Karnataka.

"If YS Sharmila's meeting with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and LoP Rahul Gandhi turns out to be positive then the country would get a great woman MP," he said.

Meanwhile, when Sharmila came out after the meeting with Rahul Gandhi, media persons asked her about the discussion that took place. She evaded a reply when asked if her reported nomination to the Rajya Sabha was discussed.

As per reports, Ajith was in Dubai when he learned about his mother's demise and reportedly immediately travelled back to Chennai to be with his loved ones during this difficult time.

Sharing the unfortunate news with the netizens, Ajith's brother, Anil Kumar, wrote on social media, "Our mother, Mohini Mani, passed away early this morning, in her sleep, after a period of declining health. She was 89. We are grateful for the care and support provided to her and our family by a number of medical professionals these last few years (sic)."

"We are comforted, even in this time of grief, that she lived a long life and could be counted among the lucky ones – to have known the undying love and care of dear ones and the genuine respect of just about everyone who came to know her kind nature, selfless spirit, and quiet grace", he went on to add.

Offering his condolences, Kamal Haasan penned on the micro-blogging site, "I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mr Ajith Kumar's mother, Mrs Mohini Mani. I extend my heartfelt condolences to Ajith Kumar and his family, who are grieving the loss of their beloved mother."

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor Vijay also shared, "I was deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of Mrs Mohini Ammaiyar, the mother of my dear friend Mr. Ajith Kumar. I pray that her soul rests in peace at the divine feet of the Lord. I convey my deepest condolences to my friend Mr. Ajith Kumar, who is grieving the loss of his mother, who was a pillar of support and embrace in all stages of life, and to his family members."

He acknowledged the profound loss suffered by the actor and paid tribute to Mohini’s memory.

According to family sources, Mohini had been undergoing treatment for age-related health complications at a private hospital in Chennai. She breathed her last on Saturday morning.

The last rites are expected to be held at Ajith Kumar’s residence in Palavakkam, Chennai.

Ajith Kumar, who is currently in Dubai, is expected to return to Chennai immediately to participate in the funeral proceedings and be with his family during the difficult time.

The actor’s family had already endured a major loss in 2023 when Ajith’s father, P. Subramani, passed away at the age of 84.

Widely regarded as one of Tamil cinema’s most celebrated stars, Ajith Kumar has built a remarkable career without any film industry background. Over the years, he has earned a massive fan following through his performances in numerous blockbuster films.

In recent years, however, he has increasingly focussed on his passion for professional car racing, leading to discussions among fans about the future of his acting career.

Tamil Nadu political leaders were among the first to offer condolences. DMK President M.K. Stalin expressed deep sorrow over Mohini’s passing. In a message posted on social media, Stalin described Ajith Kumar as his “dear brother” and said he was heartbroken by the loss. He noted that no words could adequately console Ajith, who had lost the mother who nurtured him and took pride in witnessing his achievements.

Several members of the Tamil film industry, including actors, directors, producers, and technicians, have also extended their sympathies to Ajith Kumar and his family.

Fans have been sharing messages of support and remembrance on social media, paying tribute to the woman who stood behind one of Tamil cinema’s most beloved stars.

New Delhi, May 30 (SocialNews.XYZ) The pro-Khalistan elements operating in various parts of the world are now deploying the glamour quotient to recruit youth and urge them to commit crimes.

A new trend has been noticed on the social media accounts that are run by pro-Khalistan elements.

Earlier, there would be messages aimed at radicalising the youth. However, that failed to pick up any traction, and hence they decided to make the movement "glamorous".

Images of people posing with guns and pistols are being frequently posted on social media. Videos of people firing with AK-47s are also doing the rounds, officials say.

One video in particular that has gone viral and has got the most traction is the one of slain terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The video shows him firing an AK-series rifle at a training camp in British Columbia.

An Intelligence Bureau official said that these videos are gaining heavy traction on X, Facebook, and TikTok. The idea is to romanticise the guns, the official added.

This strategy is similar to the one that was followed by slain Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani in Kashmir. He and his associates would often pose with rifles and pistols while also showing off expensive bikes on social media.

This was a major draw among the youth, and the Hizbul Mujahideen was able to recruit in large numbers after it decided to use glamour as a way to pull the youth into its fold, the official also added.

The Khalistan elements have, in many cases, successfully recruited using this strategy. In the name of the Khalistan movement, many have sourced guns and even put up their pictures on social media.

Armed with guns, many have indulged in shooting and extortion activities, another official said.

Officials say that the ideology of having a separate Khalistan nation carved out of Punjab has not resonated with the youth, be it abroad or in India. The teenagers and the younger lot are, however, impressed with the idea of wearing expensive clothes and also brandishing a gun. This is the audience that is being targeted by these Khalistani elements, officials say.

Another official pointed out that the idea is to make the Khalistan movement and the crimes associated with it look cool. The youth normally do not understand the consequences of joining such syndicates. The idea of being cool, getting rich and powerful is what attracts them, and hence there has been a change in the recruitment strategy, the official added.

There is a clear sense of desperation that has crept in. Newer strategies are being adopted as the Khalistan groups are under immense pressure from the ISI to ramp up activities in Punjab.

In recent months, Khalistan groups such as the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) have focused largely on Punjab operations. The BKI is resorting to smaller yet frequent attacks. This keeps the fear alive, and the chances of detection are also low. If one notices, the grenade attacks are higher in Punjab. This is a low-cost operation, and youth who have never been under the radar of the agencies are the ones being used to carry out such attacks.

Officials say that the older lot in Punjab would always like to keep the Khalistan movement out of the state. They know what their state underwent at the peak of the movement. However, that is not the case with the youth. The official said that the ideology may not impress them, but the glamour quotient sure does, and that is why the social media strategy to recruit them has changed entirely.

Mumbai, May 30 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Shiv Sena (UBT) on Saturday said the hooch tragedy in Pune, which claimed 16 lives after consumption of spurious liquor, reflects a failure of the administrative and law enforcement system, alleging that it is a "product of a corrupt system".

In an editorial published in its mouthpiece, Saamana, the party said the tragedy cannot be treated as an accident, claiming that such illegal trade cannot operate without the collusion of the police and the State Excise Department.

The editorial targeted Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who also holds the Home portfolio, alleging deterioration in governance and misuse of the Home Department against political opponents, which has weakened policing at the ground level.

He remains entirely consumed by election logistics and aligning his own political equations. Currently, the Home Department is being used to harass political opponents and blackmail them by implicating them in fabricated cases. Consequently, the police machinery has completely lost its ground-level connection with the public, the editorial said.

“While the Chief Minister claims strict action against criminals, the hooch tragedy has devastated 16 innocent families. As Home Minister, Devendra Fadnavis must take responsibility,” remarked the editorial, adding that the state government is facing immense pressure on whether to provide financial compensation to the kin of victims.

According to the editorial, Pune and the surrounding Maval region have transformed into major hubs for illicit country liquor. In areas across Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, bootlegging dens (haatbhatti) operate entirely in the open. It said daily-wage workers often turn to cheap liquor, which is allegedly adulterated with methanol to increase profits.

The editorial alleged that such open sale of spurious liquor and other illegal activities continue under political patronage and with the active involvement of enforcement agencies. It also flagged a rise in violent crimes in Pune, including robberies, sexual assaults, and gang violence. The city has witnessed a surge in broad-daylight crimes, including armed robberies, sexual assaults, and murders of young girls in recent times, the editorial said.

Referring to recent restrictions imposed by the Pune Police Commissioner mandating early closures of establishments, the editorial said the incident occurred in broad daylight, calling into question the effectiveness of such measures.

"This tragic incident did not occur under the cover of darkness; the lethal poison was sold and consumed in broad daylight. This has prompted citizens to ask sarcastically -- Will the police now order Pune to shut down during the day as well?” asked the Thackeray camp.

The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena said that the tragedy has also exposed deep political and ideological hypocrisy. “Local right-wing leaders and neo-Hindu outfits frequently organise aggressive protests and agitations over socio-religious issues like Hindu-Muslim conflicts, 'Love Jihad', religious conversions, and Eid sacrifices, claiming that the community is in grave danger. However, although both the sellers and the victims of this toxic liquor belonged to the same community, these organisations have maintained a tight-lipped silence,” it noted.

Furthermore, the state administration, which is notoriously quick to deploy bulldozers to demolish properties belonging to minority communities, has notably spared these lethal illicit liquor dens. The Thackeray camp alleged that this immunity exists because these dens serve poison to the poor under the direct protection of the ruling political class.

Talking about the culture of social media users "writing obituaries" for films without watching them, Ram Charan said filmmakers can only remain sincere to their craft.

Asked what his opinion is about people writing obituaries for a film without even watching it, Ram told IANS: “I don't have an opinion on this. We can only do what is in our control.”

As "Peddi" underwent two release date changes, the film found itself at the centre of online chatter.

The 41-year-old superstar, whose film “RRR” brought home an Oscar in 2023, said: “I don't like to comment on something which is beyond my capacity to understand or control. I have to do my job. I'm both happy. We are sincere and very happy at the end of the day.”

“And everybody doesn't need to like our work. But I hope everybody appreciates it at least. They don't need to like it.”

Ram’s upcoming film “Peddi” is a sports action drama, where his character acts as a "crossover athlete" who aces three sports such as cricket, wrestling and sprinting.

The Telugu film Peddi is directed by Buchi Babu Sana. The film also stars Boman Irani, Shiva Rajkumar, Janhvi Kapoor, Jagapathi Babu and Divyenndu. The film is finally releasing on June 4.

Ram made his acting debut with the action film Chirutha in 2007. He gained the limelight by starring in S. S. Rajamouli's fantasy action film Magadheera in 2009. He went on to star in notable films such as Orange, Racha, Naayak, Yevadu, Govindudu Andarivadele and Dhruva.

The event will be held near Ekana Stadium and is expected to highlight India’s naval heritage and modern maritime strength.

In a post on X, CM Yogi said: “Today, the grand 'Naval Shaurya Vatika', constructed in Lucknow, will be dedicated to the nation by the Hon'ble Defence Minister Shri @rajnathsingh ji. Spanning over 2 acres, this complex is a living symbol of our Navy's indomitable courage and modern capabilities. Uttar Pradesh's heartfelt salute to the valour of our brave sailors. Jai Hind!”

According to official details, Defence Minister Singh, who is also the Member of Parliament from Lucknow, will participate in the inauguration ceremony in his constituency on May 30. The event at Nau Sena Shaurya Vatika is scheduled between 11:30 A.M. and 1:00 P.M., following his arrival at Lucknow airport.

Singh will also conduct a final review of the Lucknow–Kanpur Expressway during his visit. The expressway, which is expected to significantly reduce travel time between the two cities to around 45–50 minutes, is likely to be dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi after June 15.

Earlier on Friday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh posted on X: “Tomorrow, 30th May, I shall be in Lucknow. Shall attend the inaugural ceremony of the ‘Navy Shaurya Museum’. Looking forward to it.”

The Nau Sena Shaurya Vatika has been developed as an open-air naval museum in collaboration with the Indian Navy and the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department.

Officials said the facility aims to offer visitors a close understanding of India’s maritime legacy through decommissioned naval assets, interpretive displays, and interactive exhibits designed to promote awareness of the Navy’s role in national security and maritime operations.

The inauguration of the Naval Gallantry Park is expected to showcase India’s naval achievements while also highlighting key infrastructure developments in Uttar Pradesh under the state and central governments.

Revanth Reddy has drawn Congress' action plan to protect voters belonging to the vulnerable sections like Dalits, minorities, tribal and migrant workers from deletion in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), scheduled to begin in Telangana next month, government officials said on Friday.

Participating in the Congress' Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting at the Gandhi Bhavan, the Chief Minister warned that the SIR could emerge as a major issue for Lambada, Adivasi, and migrant workers.

"In several Assembly/Lok Sabha constituencies, a significant number of people have migrated elsewhere. The possibility of the omission of votes of Dalits, minorities, and women is also not ruled in the SIR," CM Reddy remarked.

Revanth Reddy instructed the party leadership to appoint SIR in-charges for all 119 Assembly constituencies and 17 Lok Sabha constituencies.

The In-charges should visit their respective constituencies regularly, the Chief Minister said.

"We can ensure that not a single vote is deleted only when the in-charges perform their duties," he added.

The Chief Minister noted the positive aspect that the Congress leaders and workers are understanding better about the SIR.

The Congress leaders were also recognising the potential difficulties the SIR could pose to common people, the poor, and Congress party workers.

CM Revanth Reddy emphasised that the Congress should develop a comprehensive understanding of the solutions to the problems that may arise from the SIR.

He called for seeking and incorporating the advice and suggestions of former Pradesh Congress Committee Presidents.

The Congress should take precautions to ensure that the votes of those who have migrated elsewhere are not lost, CM Reddy said.

Meetings regarding the SIR must be organised on Assembly constituency basis across the 15 constituencies within the Hyderabad city limits.

Specific responsibilities within the Hyderabad region should be assigned to Rajya Sabha members and Members of Legislative Council.

The Chief Minister appealed to all Congress leaders to move forward in a spirit of coordination.

The Mahila Congress should conduct cluster-wise SIR meetings, CM Reddy said.

He asked the Ministers In-Charge to dedicate one full day every 10 days exclusively to party-related activities.

They should visit field level and personally interact with the party workers, CM Reddy added.

The Chief Minister said that he would also meet with Congress functionaries at village level once in every 10 days.

From now, he will dedicate three days a month exclusively to Congress functionaries.

Hyderabad, May 29 (SocialNews.XYZ) Congress leader Mujahid Alam Khan, his father Nawab Mahbub Alam Khan, and five associates in connection with the recent sensational murder of Telangana High Court advocate Khaja Moizuddin, Hyderabad police announced on Friday.

Addressing a press conference on Friday evening, Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar announced the breakthrough in the murder of the 63-year-old advocate.

State Congress unit Vice President Mujahid Alam Khan and his father, Mahbub Alam Khan, a prominent citizen and secretary of Anwar-ul-Uloom Educational Association, allegedly conspired with their associates and hired killers to eliminate Moizuddin for a contract of Rs 15 lakh.

According to police, the motive behind the murder was a prolonged dispute between the family of Mujahid Alam Khan and the deceased advocate over Waqf properties and management issues. Several civil, criminal, and Waqf Tribunal cases were pending between both groups for many years.

The accused believed that due to the active involvement of the deceased in various legal proceedings against them, they were suffering continuous legal setbacks and humiliation. Bearing a grudge against the deceased, accused Mujahid Alam Khan and his father conspired to eliminate him.

Advocate Moizuddin was killed around 5.45 a.m. on May 23 near his house in Masab Tank when he was getting into his car. A speeding four-wheeler intentionally hit him, resulting in serious injuries and later his death.

On a complaint by the deceased advocate’s son, M.S. Farhan, a case was registered at Nampally Police Station, and the investigation was taken up.

CCTV footage clearly revealed that a green-coloured SUV without number plates intentionally waited near the residence of Moizuddin and deliberately hit him when he was getting into his vehicle. The offending vehicle thereafter fled from the scene, the Commissioner said.

During the investigation, the accused persons were identified after verification of CCTV footage.

Investigation revealed that Mujahid Alam Khan and Mahbub Alam Khan conspired along with their close associates Hassan Ali alias Chaous and Muneer to execute the plan through Kishan alias Pappu.

Muneer and Chaous coordinated the execution by handing over cash to Kishan to arrange logistics for the execution of their plan. Kishan engaged Vinay, who, in turn, engaged Abhijeet through Vikram to execute the plan. As part of the conspiracy, accused Mujahid Alam Khan arranged an amount of Rs 2 lakh for Kishan through Chaous for the procurement of the SUV.

From January 2026 onwards, accused Kishan, along with accused Vinay, Abhijeet, Vikram, and Deen Dayal, conducted reconnaissance near the residence of the lawyer and also the places he regularly visited.

On May 23, the accused intentionally used the SUV and deliberately hit Moizuddin at high speed, resulting in grievous injuries, which later led to his death.

After the commission of the offence, the accused persons fled from the scene and attempted to destroy evidence by removing identification marks from the vehicle and dispersing to different locations. Mahboob Alam Khan also assisted the accused Muneer and Chaous in escaping in order to avoid apprehension by the police.

Based on technical evidence, police traced Kishan alias Pappu to Haryana's Panipat. A special team proceeded to Panipat and apprehended him on May 27. During interrogation, the accused voluntarily confessed to the conspiracy, the role of each accused person, procurement of the vehicle, surveillance conducted prior to the offence and execution of the murder.

Based on Kishan’s confession, teams were formed to apprehend the accused. On technical leads and credible information, Mujahid Alam Khan and his father were arrested from their residence, while the other four accused were arrested near MGBS, Gowliguda.

On the role of the others, police said that accused number 4, Abhijeet alias Nani, drove the vehicle and caused the death of the advocate for monetary consideration, while accused No 5, Vinay, arranged for his services for the execution of the murder in return for money, participated in planning, procured the vehicle and took part in reconnaissance and execution of the offence.

Accused No. 8, Vikram Aditya alias Chintu, connected Vinay with Abhijeet and participated in the planning of the offence.

Accused No. 10, Manideep alias Pogo Nani, accompanied accused Kishan in the vehicle on the day of the commission of the offence.

Police seized the vehicle used in the commission of the offence, a cash amount of Rs 10.10 lakh and mobile phones from the possession of the accused.

Further investigation is in progress to apprehend the remaining absconding accused persons and to collect additional technical and documentary evidence connected with the conspiracy, the Commissioner said.

Visakahapatnam, May 29 (SocialNews.XYZ) The NIA filed charges against three CPI-Maoist operatives in a special court in Visakahapatnam in a case related to supply of explosive materials and logistical support to cadres of the banned terrorist organisation in Andhra Pradesh, an official said on Friday.

All three accused have been charged under various sections of IPC, Explosive Substances Act, and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in the first chargesheet in the case RC-12/2024/NIA/DLI, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) said.

Two of the chargesheeted accused, Naka Devid Raj alias Daveedu and Vijay Viswas, have been identified as overground workers (OGWs) of CPI (Maoist), it said.

They were caught red-handed and arrested by the local police en route to hand over the consignment of explosives to the third accused, Sodi Kesa - an underground CPI (Maoist) cadre, the NIA said.

The NIA investigations revealed that Devid and Vijay were engaged in procurement, transportation and supply of explosive materials to underground Maoist cadres for use in attacks on the security forces.

The counter-terrorism agency found that the accused had established links with, and were actively and knowingly providing assistance to, CPI (Maoist) members with the objective of promoting the outfit’s nefarious agenda.

Investigations by the NIA, which had taken over the case from the local police in September 2024, revealed that the entire conspiracy was aimed at helping CPI (Maoist) strengthen its operational capabilities in the region to disrupt the country’s security and stability.

An official of the NIA said in a statement that investigations to identify other linkages of the banned outfit are continuing.

Earlier in a separate case, the NIA chargesheeted six more accused, including three absconders, in connection with a Chhattisgarh CRPF camp attack by cadres of the banned CPI (Maoist) terror organisation in 2024.

A dozen CRPF personnel were injured in the attack on the Dharmavaram camp by Maoists armed with automatic weapons and indigenously manufactured Barrel Grenade Launchers (BGLs).

Besides the then newly built Dharmavaram camp, the Maoist cadres had also attacked simultaneously two more adjacent CRPF camps at Chintawagu and Pamed in District Bijapur on 16th January 2024.

The three arrested accused charge-sheeted were identified as Awalam Bhima, Madkam Nanda and Madkam Deva alias Ratan, while the charge-sheeted absconders include one Special Zonal Committee (SZC) member of the proscribed CPI (Maoist) organisation.

All six were charged under relevant sections of UA (P) Act, IPC, Arms Act and Explosive Substances Act, the NIA said in March.

Amaravati, May 29 (SocialNews.XYZ) With the pollution in the Godavari River reaching an alarming level, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Friday directed the Pollution Control Board to conduct continuous inspections to prevent industrial effluents from being discharged into the river.

According to Pollution Control Board (PCB) officials, pollution entering the Godavari River—originating from municipalities, industrial zones, rural areas, and the aquaculture sector—has reached a critical and alarming stage.

Approximately 104 million litres of sewage per day, discharged from municipalities across six districts, is currently contaminating the Godavari River. Of this total, the Andhra Paper Mills alone accounts for the discharge of up to 32 million litres of waste daily.

Additionally, another 8.38 million litres of sewage from rural areas, along with substantial quantities of industrial waste, are being discharged into the river on a daily basis.

Compounding this situation is the daily discharge of 13.24 million litres of wastewater from aquaculture operations in the Konaseema and West Godavari districts.

Pawan Kalyan, who is also the minister for environment, directed officials to take immediate measures to curb pollution caused by the discharge of sewage, industrial effluents, and aqua-related waste.

According to an official release, it has been observed that sewage generated by towns situated along the banks of the Godavari River is being discharged directly into the river without undergoing any prior treatment. Large volumes of sewage are currently flowing into the Godavari from major urban centres, including the Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation and the municipalities of Kovvur, Narasapuram, and Tanuku.

Currently, the Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation generates 75 million litres of sewage daily, of which 50 million litres are being discharged directly into the Godavari River. Furthermore, approximately 11.1 million litres of wastewater per day from Tanuku Municipality, 14 million litres from Bhimavaram, 8.5 million litres from Narasapuram, and 6 million litres from Kovvur are being released into the Godavari through drainage channels such as the Yanamadurru and Gostani drains.

The daily discharge of sewage into the Godavari River also continues from various other municipalities.

Pawan Kalyan emphasised that measures must be implemented to ensure that sewage generated in urban areas is released into the Godavari only after it has undergone proper treatment. To this end, he has issued directives to undertake the construction of Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) within the jurisdiction of every municipality, ensuring that their capacity is commensurate with the volume of sewage generated in the respective areas.

To ensure the conduct of pollution-free Godavari Pushkarams, Pawan Kalyan has announced an action plan titled 'Swachh Godavari – Pavitra Pushkaralu' (Clean Godavari – Sacred Pushkarams).

He issued directives to transform the 262 panchayats identified across six districts—within the scope of the Pushkarams festivities—into sewage-free zones, and to establish continuous monitoring systems to prevent the discharge of polluting waste into the Godavari River.

He suggested setting up an RTGS-style control room to oversee sewage management in villages and towns, as well as to monitor industrial pollution, thereby establishing a system for continuous, real-time surveillance.

The responsibility for this monitoring would be entrusted to the high-level task force constituted for the prevention of pollution in major rivers.

Pawan Kalyan issued key directives to officials regarding the sewage mitigation measures to be implemented in villages and towns. To this end, he stated that funds from the VBJ Ramji scheme, Swachhandhra, and the Pollution Control Board should be utilised if necessary.

For the purpose of organising the Pushkarams, 262 'Pushkara Panchayats' were identified across the six districts situated within the Godavari river basin.

Following a coordination meeting involving officials from the Deputy Chief Minister's office, the Principal Secretaries of the Panchayat Raj & Rural Development and Forest & Environment departments, and the Secretaries of the Pollution Control Board, a decision was made to transform these 262 panchayats into sewage-discharge-free zones by the time of the Pushkarams.

Hyderabad, May 29 (SocialNews.XYZ) Telangana tops among all the states in India in paddy procurement during Rabi season, Minister for Irrigation and Civil Supplies, N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, said on Friday. The minister said Telangana has already procured 60 lakh tonnes of paddy, compared to about 24 lakh tonnes in Andhra Pradesh, 11-12 lakh tonnes in Tamil Nadu, 3 lakh tonnes in Maharashtra, and nearly 2 lakh tonnes in Kerala.

He told a press conference that Telangana is conducting what is arguably the most successful paddy procurement operation in the country, with procurement crossing 60 lakh tonnes till date and the State emerging as the undisputed national leader in Yasangi (Rabi) paddy procurement.

Uttam Kumar Reddy claimed that Telangana has become the backbone of India's food grain procurement system.

"Today, nearly 60 per cent of all paddy procured in India during the ongoing Yasangi season has come from Telangana alone. By the time procurement operations conclude, Telangana is expected to account for nearly 75 per cent of the country's total Yasangi paddy procurement," he said.

"Telangana is far ahead of every other state in paddy procurement. We are also the Number One State in supplying rice to the Food Corporation of India under the Central Pool mechanism," he added.

Uttam Kumar Reddy described the ongoing procurement programme as a historic achievement unmatched anywhere in India. "The scale of procurement, transportation, payments and logistical mobilisation undertaken by Telangana is unprecedented. No state government in Independent India has carried out procurement operations of this magnitude while ensuring such extensive support to farmers," he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy pointed out that while the Central Government had agreed to procure only up to 52 lakh tonnes from Telangana, the State had already crossed the 60 lakh tonnes mark.

"The scale of procurement undertaken by Telangana has exceeded the Centre's prescribed limit by 115 per cent. This reflects both the extraordinary production levels achieved by our farmers and the Congress Government's unwavering commitment to protecting farmer interests," he said.

The minister said paddy cultivation during Yasangi 2025-26 covered 64.36 lakh acres, resulting in an estimated production of 141 lakh metric tonnes.

He said procurement operations were being intensified further and would preferably be completed before the onset of the southwest monsoon, forecast during the first week of June.

Expressing concern over the Centre's procurement policy, Uttam Kumar Reddy said Telangana's paddy production has been increasing steadily year after year since the Congress Government assumed office.

"Every year and every crop season, rice production in Telangana is growing. Yet, despite this increase in production, the quantity of rice being accepted by the Centre through FCI is being reduced. The Chief Minister and I have repeatedly raised this issue with the Union Government," he said.

The Minister noted that Telangana has become one of India's largest producers and procurers of paddy and deserves procurement allocations commensurate with its production levels.

To ensure smooth procurement, the State Government established 8,575 procurement centres, deployed nearly 13,000 transport vehicles, and mobilised over two lakh personnel for procurement, transportation and logistics operations.

MSP payments amounting to Rs. 11,050 crore have already been credited directly into farmers' bank accounts.

The minister said that under the ongoing KMS 2025-26, covering both Kharif and Yasangi procurement cycles, procurement-related operations and farmer payments have reached unprecedented levels, involving nearly Rs. 39,300 crore.

Referring to recent unseasonal rains, Uttam Kumar Reddy said the government had acted swiftly to protect farmers from losses.

Special arrangements enabled the transportation of 10,214 tonnes of rain-soaked paddy to boiled rice mills, ensuring that affected farmers received MSP payments without hardship.

"Not a single farmer should suffer losses because of adverse weather conditions. We have ensured that farmers receive MSP and that procurement continues uninterrupted," he said.

Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar strongly criticised BJP and BRS leaders for what they described as their "politically motivated campaign" over paddy procurement, asserting that the ongoing procurement drive was unparalleled in Telangana's history both in scale and execution.
