Jerusalem attack increases Israel’s commitment to fight terrorism: Cabinet member

Tel Aviv, Nov 30 (SocialNews.XYZ) Benny Gantz, a member of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's war cabinet, on Thursday said that the shooting incident at a bus stop Jerusalem that claimed the lives of three civilians, only increases the country's commitment to continue its fight against terrorism.

Two suspected Hamas operatives opened fire at people waiting at the bus stop in the outskirts of Jerusalem during the morning rush hour.

The attack occurred almost a year after the same bus stop witnessed a deadly bombing attack on November 23, 2022.

The two suspects were later neutralised by two off-duty soldiers and a civilian, according to the police.

In a post on X, Gantz, who is also a former Defence Minister, extended condolences and said that "this attack is further proof of our commitment to continue the fight with strength and determination against the murderous terrorism that threatens our citizens".

"In Jerusalem, Gaza, Yosh and everywhere," he added.

Israel's National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gavir had earlier said the shooters -- identified as brothers Murad Namr (38) and Ibrahim Namr(30) from East Jerusalem -- were Hamas militants operatives.

"These are apparently Hamas operatives, who speak here with two voices, one voice of a so-called cease-fire and a second voice of terror," Gavir told reporters.

The victims included a 24 year-old woman and a man in his 70s, with six others also injured in the attack.

One of the victims was pronounced dead on the scene by the Magen David Adom rescue service, and two others were pronounced dead at Shaare Zedek hospital.

Addressing mediapersons, police chief Doron Turgeman said the attackers were "armed with M-16 rifle and a pistol".

"They arrived with a car and opened fire at civilians,” he said.

The scene of the attack has been sealed off and an additional search is being carried out to “rule out any additional suspects", the police added.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, US Ambassador to Israel Jack Lew said: “We unequivocally condemn such brutal violence.”

The attack came just hours after Israel and Hamas agreed to extend the humanitarian truce in Gaza for a seventh day, just minutes before it was set to expire on Thursday.

Santosh Soban starrer latest film 'Prem Kumar' co-starring Raasi Singh, Ruchitha Sadineni is Produced under Saranga Entertainments Pvt Ltd by Shiva Prasad Panneeru. Writer Abhishek Maharshi is making his directorial debut. The film which is made with love and entertaining elements is getting ready to release on August 18th. On this occasion, Direction Abhishek Maharshi interacted with the media about the film. Here's the transcript of the interview.

What is your background? How did this film begin?

I worked as a ghostwriter for films. I wrote for shows in OTT. I met Santosh Soban after he completed his first film Paper Boy. We both wanted to do a short film. Finally, we came here today to make a full-length feature film. We selected a story out of thirty stories I have written. That's how the 'Prem Kumar' story got finalized. Santosh and Shiva both believed in my comedy timing.

Have you worked as an assistant to any writer or director?

This film got delayed due to COVID. This film is based on a very new point. I didn't work as an assistant to anyone. But, I worked as a writer for many production houses. My acting career also helped me while directing this film.

Which director's influence did you have while making this film?

Hanu Raghavapudi, Sukumar, Vamshi Paidipally, Trivikram, Nagesh Kukunoor... all of these make films with perfect planning. Each one of them has their style. When I interacted with them as an actor, I learned a lot of things from them. Those experiences came in handy for this film.

What do you say about the comments comparing your film with Vishwak Sen's film?

Hero comes in during the climax scenes and stops the heroine's marriage in films. Hero and Heroines unite at the end. No one thinks about that bridegroom who was supposed to get married to the heroine. He also has a life. We tried to narrate this point through 'Prem Kumar'. I was a bit worried when I watched Vishwak Sen starrer Ashoka Vanamlo Arjuna Kalyanam's teaser. It was similar to my concept. But, I came to know it was a different concept after speaking to the director.

Any changes after the formation of the script?

We don't have any creative differences in our team. After we locked the script, no one tried to correct it. Santosh once agrees to do a film and okayed the script, he does whatever the director asks him to do. We didn't make any changes after the script got finalized.

Tell us about your music director.

I know music director Anant Srikar since his studying days. He worked for Sri Charan Pakala. The comedy genre is new to him. He gave music in a fusion style. Re-recording came out superbly. You will experience new sounds in the theatres.

How did the story and title emerge?

I got inspired by the films Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and Nuvve Nuvve and wrote this story. A man's life gets destroyed after marriage. What happens if his marriage gets canceled at the last minute... I thought about several points and wrote this story. Even I saw some incidents in real life too.

Tell us about Producer Shiva Prasad.

Our Shiva Prasad is passionate about films. He didn't want to Produce films for just namesake. Santosh, Shiva and I believe coming here from scratch is a success.

About your future projects?

'Prem Kumar' can be watched with the entire family. It doesn't have any vulgarity or cuss words. We can watch this film and enjoy it with our parents. The film goes entertainingly throughout. Me and my wife also did guest roles in the film. I want to make a completely serious film. The story is also completed. The entire script will be ready by September.

People Media Factory, one of the leading production houses in Telugu cinema, has joined hands with ZEE Studios for Pawan Kalyan-Sai Dharam Tej’s Bro, written and directed by Samuthirakani. Trivikram pens the screenplay and dialogues for the film that will hit screens on July 28.

Ketika Sharma plays the female lead opposite Sai Dharam Tej in Bro. As part of the film's promotion, the actress shared her experience working for Bro during a media interaction on Monday.

Ketika Sharma says Bro has more commercial elements compared to the Tamil original Vinodhaya Sitham. "In the Tamil flick, there was a lesser scope for the female character to perform. Whereas in Bro, I've been given good screen space by the makers."

Ketika Sharma couldn't believe her luck when she heard that she would be given a role in the film which has Pawan Kalyan in it. "The moment I heard PK sir, I didn't want to hear anything else. I wish I was a part of this movie. However, I don't have any combination scenes with Pawan Kalyan. But there is one scene, in which I get a chance to be part of the same frame alongside PK sir, but I didn't get scope to interact with him in the scene. That was the first time I met sir."

Can you elaborate your character that you're playing in Bro? "I am playing Mark's girlfriend in the film. Sai Dharam Tej is playing the role of Mark. I am playing his love interest. My character has got to do with him and the relationship between both of us. It is a pretty performance-oriented role. The movie is fast-paced, every character on the screen adds to the story."

Earlier you got a chance to play the female in Vaishnav Tej's film Ranga Ranga Vaibhavanga, now you have landed in the project which has two heroes from the mega family, how do you feel?

"Very fortunate, in fact, it's a coincidence that this project Bro came in my way when Ranga Ranga Vaibhavanga was actually in the last leg of shooting. I felt I didn't want to miss this opportunity because Bro seemed like an interesting script. Like I said you know, the moment I heard this is a combination of PK sir and Sai Tej - this is going to be so exciting. I would want to watch it as a viewer when it arrives in cinema halls.

How do you find two personalities Vaishnav and Sai Dharam Tej?
They both have really contrasting personalities. I think Vaishnav Tej was a little more shy when I first met him on the sets of Ranga Ranga Vaibhavanga. Then if he gets comfortable with you, he will be like a child - playing around with everyone. And Sai Dharam Tej is not as shy as Vaishnav. He is very fun- laughing and mingling with people. But Vaishnav takes a little more time to open up.

Was there anything for you to improvise in Bro after watching the original Vinodhaya Sitham?

As I told you, there's nothing much needed to improvise for my character in Bro. Because there's nothing much that I can take from the original film. In this movie, I was given a few fun dialogues by Trivikram sir which I had to do to the best of my performance. Bro is a very tight script. Samuthirakani didn't take too much time to shoot the film. Everyone was prepared that they should give their best in the first go.

In the third single Jaanavule, you looked so stylish. There's an appreciation for the song from fans, how do you see it?

Well, I had the privilege to work with famous designer Neeta Lulla, who had actually worked for PK sir costumes in the film. She has put very nice looks together. Jaanavule song is one of the best experiences of my film career in Tollywood. I didn't have the opportunity to dance earlier. This is the first song, where I got the chance to shake a leg. We shot it in a picturesque location in Austria."

Ketika Sharma says she was initially scared to meet PK. "When I told Sai Tej to make her meet PK sir, then I happened to meet him and say hello to him. It was just five minutes of the meeting.

I feel like Bro is a message-oriented film. This is the first time I am part of an artsy, message-giving film. It is going to add to my work. Because Bro is a different space compared to my previous films.

Speaking about the director Samuthirakani, Ketika says the director was so clear about his vision. "He knew what he wanted. He knew his frames. And he goes very quickly, wraps the shoot in no time. It was fun shooting with him for Bro. Audiences would like to watch Bro for its message," she adds.

Speaking about the production house People Media Factory, the actress says, "It was a great experience working with one of the film production giants in Tollywood - People Media Factory. They pamper every artiste so well, I think I've been so comfortable and fortunate to have worked with them. Production-wise, with everything I made. I was taken good care of by the production house. It was a lovely experience working with him.

Siddharth, renowned for his successful films like "Bommarillu" and "Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana," is ready to captivate the audience once again with his upcoming Tamil-Telugu action romance titled "Takkar." Helmed by Karthik G Krish and written by the same, the film stars Divyansha as the female lead. "Takkar" is a collaborative production by TG Vishwa Prasad, Abhishek Agarwal, People Media Factory, Abhishek Agarwal Arts, and Passion Studios. The action entertainer is all set to hit theaters on June 9, and the makers are planning a grand-scale release. The trailer has garnered an overwhelming response, further amplifying the anticipation surrounding the movie. "Takkar" takes the audience on an emotional rollercoaster, exploring the highs and lows of a relationship between a poor boy and a wealthy girl. While the male protagonist is a hopeless romantic, the female lead, despite her affection for him, maintains a skeptical perspective on love and marriage.

Here are the excerpts from Siddharth’s interaction with media

What is Takkar all about?

The movie revolves around the clash between two individuals. There are multiple clashes portrayed in the film, including the clash between the hero and the heroine, hero and the villain, clashes of ego, gender, age, and money. There are numerous shades in the relationship between the hero and the heroine. Circumstances force the hero to become a kidnapper, driven by the desire to make money. Frustration pushes him to ruthlessly pursue his goals. A pivotal dialogue between the son and mother encapsulates the essence of the movie. As the hero arrives in the city, he witnesses the deteriorating state of affairs. He engages in intense fights with goons as demanded by the character.

On giving importance to money

This generation seems to have a strong pursuit of money. The extravagant earnings of celebrities are well-known to everyone. However, my upbringing instilled in me the belief that happiness should take precedence over money. I was taught to find joy in music and other simple pleasures, shaping my perspective. We are venturing out to explore the beauty and happiness that the world has to offer. During my days as an assistant director, I used to receive a mere Rs 2000 and had to account for petrol bills as low as Rs 160. People often say that once you have money, you develop certain habits. However, I am not like that. I can find happiness and contentment in the simple things, and I can sleep peacefully whenever I want to. I still wear the same old clothes from my college days. This same mindset is reflected in the character portrayed in "Takkar."

On coming back to Telugu films

All industries are constantly buzzing with activity, and Telugu cinema holds its own significant value. S.S. Rajamouli has become a brand in himself. In the past, directors used to create a hundred films, but now it takes around four years to make a single film. In Telugu cinema, if a film has strong writing at its core, it is likely to find success. Writers used to command immense respect in the industry in earlier times. If you possess talent and merit, opportunities flow freely. When people questioned why I wasn't doing Telugu films, I responded by saying that I wouldn't turn down a good film regardless of the language. In India, the Telugu audience has a profound love for films shown in theaters. We have a dedicated fan base that goes beyond expectations, a trend rarely seen elsewhere. Telugu fans elevate us to new heights, perceiving me as the boy next door. By collaborating with the right partners through co-productions, we can bring compelling content to the forefront. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the industry has experienced a rapid pace of change and progress.

On calling himself a Telugu child

Wherever you go in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, you can witness the immense love and support I receive from the people. There is a strong bond between the audience and myself, and there is no disconnect. I have established a positive connection, and I want to leverage that in my work. Certain things can be accomplished individually, while for others, I require the collaboration of partners. My dream is to create a remarkable film, and I need the freedom to bring that vision to life. In Tamil cinema, I have produced five movies, but my most significant project is yet to come. It is titled "Chinna," and it will be produced under my own banner. I believe this film will garner numerous awards and accolades. I have proven myself and returned to the Telugu audience with a renewed energy. The pre-release events have shown promising signs, further fueling my optimism.

On getting vexed with love stories

A love story is an emotionally intense, demanding, and exhausting journey. In the industry, there is a prevailing notion that once you have done love stories, you are expected to continue in that genre exclusively. Even within the realm of love stories, some have set a standard that will influence future narratives for years to come. However, if I were to create a successful love story, I might risk being typecasted for the next decade. Therefore, if the story does not necessitate it, I question why I should engage in unnecessary battles on set.

On writing new films

Writing is an ongoing and continuous process for me. I have already prepared the sequel for "Gruham" and have many more projects in the pipeline. In our production, we actively encourage and support new writers, working with fresh and emerging talent. The writing process has evolved over time, becoming more focused on discussions, refinement, and ultimately shaping the final script. The industry has witnessed significant changes, and people are adapting to new approaches. It's worth noting that a considerable number of recent films are based on successful predecessors. However, once you achieve fame, it's crucial to break free from the constraints and seek new experiences. It is by living life fully that we gain fresh perspectives and unique encounters. As an actor, singer, producer, writer, and future director, I strive to explore different avenues and embrace new challenges.

On the different look in Takkar

My director, Karthik Krish, possesses an eccentricity that translates into the diverse range of looks in our projects. The specific look in "Takkar" also serves a purpose and is justified by a particular scene within the film. As an actor, I have managed to transcend the persona of Siddharth and immerse myself in a distinct character, truly embodying someone else entirely.

On making Bommarillu 2

"Bommarillu" holds a special place in my heart as an event film that has a lasting impact. Over time, it has been regarded by many as more than just a movie, almost akin to a documentary that delves deep into the intricacies of love stories. The depth of emotions portrayed in "Bommarillu" is unmatched, and finding a project that can surpass its profound impact has proven to be challenging. While we can always strive to deliver exceptional work, recreating the magic of "Bommarillu" in a sequel is an incredibly difficult task.

On next projects

Following "Takkar," we have the eagerly anticipated "Chinna" in our home production. Additionally, I am thrilled to be a part of Shankar’s "Indian 2." We also have "Test," a unique film featuring the talented Madhavan and Nayantara. This film stands out from others as I have ventured into something entirely different. Furthermore, I am excited to collaborate once again with Karthik Krish on another project. By exploring different genres, I aim to bring diversity to my body of work. There is only one full-length love story in the lineup, and "Chinna" holds a special place in my heart. I look forward to discussing it in more detail at a later time. With 2023 and 2024 ahead, I am geared up for an exciting and fruitful period in my career.

కస్టడీ అనేది సీరియస్‌ యాక్షన్‌ సినిమా కదా? మీకున్న ప్రజెంట్‌ మూడ్‌ ను షూటింగ్‌ లో ఎలా మ్యాచ్‌ చేసుకున్నారు. మీకనిపించిన ఛాలెంజ్‌ ఏమిటి?
ప్రతి సినిమాకు రెండు నెలలు వర్క్‌ షాప్‌ చేస్తాను. క్యారక్టర్‌ ఎలావుండాలి అనేవి కథలోని కొన్ని సీన్స్‌ ను 5డి కెమెరాతో షూట్‌ చేస్తాం. ఈ కథ పరంగా కొంతమంది పోలీసు కానిస్టేబుళ్లను పరిశీలించాను. కొంతమంది ని కలిశాను కూడా. ఇలాంటివి కొంతమంది దర్శకులు ఎంకరేజ్‌ చేస్తారు. అలా వెంకట్‌ ప్రభు నాకు ప్రీడమ్‌ ఇచ్చారు. పోలీసు కానిస్టేబుళ్లను కలిశాక. వారి కష్టాలు విన్నాక నాకే ఇన్స్పయిరింగ్ గా అనిపించింది. అందుకే వారి కథలు చెప్పాలనుకున్నా.

యాక్షన్‌ సినిమాలలో పోలీస్‌ పాత్రల్లో మీకు ఎవరు ఫేవరేట్‌?
ఘర్షణ ఆల్‌ టైం. ఇక ఇంటర్నేషనల్‌ పరంగా జేమ్స్‌ బాండ్‌ 007 సినిమాలు అంటే ఇష్టం.

మానాడు సినిమా తర్వాత ఈ సినిమా అనుకున్నారా?
వెంకట్‌ ప్రభుగారి మానాడు సినిమాకు ముందే కస్టడీ కథ ఓకే అయింది. ఈ కథ నాకు చాలా ఎక్సయిటింగ్ గా అనిపించింది, అందుకే చేశాను.

వెంకట్‌ప్రభు గారి దర్శకత్వంలో సినిమా చేశాక ప్రేక్షకులు ఎలా రెస్పాండ్‌ అవుతారని అపిపిస్తుంది?
నేను సినిమా చూశా. చాలా నమ్మకంతో వున్నా. ఆడియన్స్‌ ఎలా స్వీకరిస్తారో వారి తీర్పే ఫైనల్‌. నేను చేసే ప్రతి సినిమా డిఫరెంట్‌ గా వుంటుంది. ఇలాంటి రోల్‌ నాకు కస్టడీలో వర్కవుట్‌ అయింది అనుకుంటా. ఈ సినిమా తర్వాత పూర్తి భిన్నమైన సినిమా చేయబోతున్నా.

యాక్షన్‌ పార్ట్‌ చేసేటప్పుడు ఎటువంటి కేర్‌ తీసుకున్నారు?
యాక్షన్‌ సీన్స్‌ చాలా నాచురల్‌ గా వుంటాయి. ఫైట్‌ మాస్టర్లతో రిహార్సల్స్‌ చేశాక షూట్‌ కు వెళ్ళాం. పైకి ఎగిరే సన్నివేశాలు, అండర్‌ వాటర్‌ వంటి సీన్స్‌ వారితో చర్చించాక చేసినవే. కస్టడీ ట్రైలర్‌, టీజర్‌ లో అది మీకు కనిపిస్తుంది. మనం ఎన్ని జిమ్మిక్కులు చేసినా ప్రేక్షకులు ఇట్టే పట్టేస్తారు. అందుకే యాక్షన్‌ పార్ట్‌ చాలా కీలకం ఈ సినిమాలో.

మీరు ఏ పాత్ర చేస్తున్నారు?
నేను కానిస్టేబుల్‌గా నటించా. నా పాత్రపరంగా వెంకట్‌ప్రభుగారు చెప్పింది చెప్పినట్లు తీశారు. పూర్తి న్యాయం చేశాను. ఎంజాయ్‌ చేస్తూ చేసిన పాత్ర ఇది.

తెలుగు దర్శకులతో నటించారు. తమిళ దర్శకుడిలో మీరు గమనించిన వ్యత్యాసం ఏమిటి?
ఒక్కో దర్శకుడిది ఒక్కో శైలి. వెంకట్‌ప్రభుగారి స్క్రీన్‌ప్లే చాలా వెరైటీగా వుంటుంది. మానాడు అనే సినిమాలో చాలా కన్‌ఫ్యూజ్‌ పాయింట్‌ ను తేలిగ్గా చూపించేశారు. మెచ్చూర్డ్‌ డైరెక్టర్‌.

సినిమా పూర్తయ్యాక దర్శకుడు చెప్పింది వచ్చిందనుకున్నారా?
నాకు కథ ఏమి చెప్పారో అది తీశారు. మొన్ననే ఆర్‌.ఆర్‌. అన్నీ అయ్యాక థియేటర్‌ లో సినిమా చూశాను. మంచి సినిమా ఇవ్వబోతున్నామనే కాన్ఫిడెన్స్ వచ్చింది. ఇది ఏ రేంజ్‌లో వుంటుందనేది ప్రేక్షకుల తీర్పును బట్టివుంటుంది.

చేసిన సినిమాలలో తప్పొప్పులు గురించి ఆలోచిస్తారా?
నటుడిగా నాకు నేనే తప్పులు వెతుకుతుంటాను. అదే నా ఇంప్రూవ్‌ మెంట్‌ కూడా.

అరవింద్‌ స్వామి గారి నుంచి ఏం నేర్చుకున్నారు?
అరవింద్‌గారికి స్క్రిప్ట్‌ పేపర్‌ ఏది ఇస్తారో దాన్ని ఓన్‌ గా తన శైలితో ఇంప్రూవ్‌ మెంట్‌ చేసుకుంటారు. పేకప్‌ అయ్యాక కూడా ఆ పాత్ర గురించే ఆలోచిస్తారు. నైట్‌ మెసేజ్‌ కూడా ఫలానా సీన్‌ గురించి ఇలా వుండాలంటూ చెబుతారు.

కస్టడీలో పోలీసుగా ఫ్యాన్స్‌ ఏవిధంగా రిసీవ్‌ చేసుకుంటారు?
నేను పర్టిక్యులర్‌ గా పలానా పాత్ర అనేది చేయను కథను బట్టి పాత్రను బేరీజు వేసుకుంటాను. లవ్‌ స్టోరీలు గతంలో చేశాను. కంటిన్యూ

గా అవే చేస్తే నటుడిగా ఎదగలేను. చైతన్య ఎలాంటి కథలోని పాత్రనైనా బాగా చేస్తాడని అనిపించుకోవాలి.

పోలీస్‌ పాత్ర యాంగ్రీగా వుంటుంది. అండర్‌ డాగ్‌ ప్లే చేయడానికి ఎలాంటి కేర్‌ తీసుకున్నారు?
కానిస్టేబేల్‌ పాత్ర ఫస్టాఫ్‌ లో ఎంజాయ్‌ చేసేవిధంగా వుంటుంది. సెకండాఫ్‌లో వచ్చే సరికి కానిస్టేబుల్‌ గ్రోత్‌ మారుతూ వుంటుంది. ఇది అందరికీ కనెక్ట్‌ అవుతుంది కూడా.

నటి పరంగా కృతి శెట్టి లో మీరు గమనించింది ఏమిటి?
ఫ్యామిలీ ఎమోషన్స్‌ బాగా పండించింది. నటిగా తను చాలా మెచ్యూర్డ్‌. తమిళం బాగా నేర్చుకుంది.

మీరు తమిళ్‌ డబ్బింగ్‌ చెప్పారా?
నటుడిగా వాయిస్‌ ముఖ్యం. అందుకే తమిళంలో నేను డబ్బింగ్‌ చెప్పాను. మొదట్లో చిన్న చిన్న లోపాలున్నా బాగానే చెప్పగలిగాను.

కస్టడీ లాంటి అండర్‌ డాగ్ సినిమాలు గతంలో వచ్చాయి. అందులో మీకు ఆల్‌ టైం ఫేవరేట్‌ మూవీస్‌ ఏవి?
చాలా సినిమాలు వున్నాయి.

నిర్మాతగారు మాట్లాడుతూ, నాగార్జునగారికి శివ ఎలాగో చైతన్యకు కస్టడీ అలాగ అన్నారు. మీరేమంటారు?
నవ్వుతూ.. ఏ సినిమాకూ కస్టడీని కంపేర్‌ చేయవద్దు. నేను ఈ సినిమాపై చాలా కాన్‌ఫిడెంట్‌ గా వున్నాను.

అక్కినేని ఫ్యాన్స్‌ గొప్పగా ఫీలయేట్లు వుంటుందా?
నూరు శాతం వారికి పాజిటివ్‌గా వుంటుంది. అక్కినేని అభిమానులకు మంచి సినిమా ఇచ్చాననే నమ్మకం నాకుంది.

శరత్‌కుమార్‌, ప్రియమణి, అరవింద్‌ స్వామి ముగ్గురు ఉద్దండుల మధ్య నటించడం మీకెలా అనిపించింది?
ఒకరకంగా చెప్పాలంటే సినిమాలో ముగ్గురి మధ్య నలిగిపోతాను. అదే సినిమాకు హైలైట్‌. అందుకే లుక్‌ పరంగా డిఫరెంట్‌ గా కనిపిస్తాను. సైజ్‌ కూడా తగ్గాను. ఫిట్‌ కానిస్టేబుల్‌ ఎలా వుంటాడో అలా మార్చుకున్నా.

అక్కినేని కుటుంబ హీరోగా మీకు ఒత్తిడి ఏమైనా వుందా?
నేను చేసే ప్రతి సినిమా ఛాలెంజ్ గా తీసుకుంటాను. ప్రతిరోజూ కష్టపడి పని చేస్తుంటాను. తాతగారు, నాన్నగారికి ఫ్యాన్స్‌ ఎలా అయ్యారంటే వారికంటూ ఒక శైలితో ఆకట్టుకున్నారు. అలాగే నేను, అఖిల్‌ కూడా స్వంత స్టయిల్‌ తో ఆకట్టుకునే ప్రయత్నం చేస్తున్నాం.

నిర్మాత శ్రీనివాస్‌ గారు భారీ బడ్జెట్‌ అయిందన్నారు?
శ్రీనివాస్‌గారు చాలా ఓపెన్‌ గా వుంటారు. కథ విన్నారు. కనెక్ట్‌ అయ్యారు. ఫ్యాషనేట్‌ నిర్మాతగా ఈ సినిమా చేశారు.

నాగచైతన్య కెరీర్‌లో భారీ బడ్జెట్‌ అన్నారు. దానిపై మీ స్పందన?
ఆయన చాలా ఖర్చు పెట్టారు. నేను ఏ సినిమాలో చేయని యాక్షన్‌ సీన్స్‌ ఇందులో చేశాను. అందుకే ప్రొడక్షన్‌ పరంగా హయ్యస్ట్‌ సినిమా అవుతుంది.

ఇళయరాజాగారిని ఎంచుకోవడానికి కారణం?
ఈ సినిమా 1990 బ్యాక్‌ డ్రాప్‌ లో జరుగుతుంది. అందుకే ఆ కాలానికి తగిన విధంగా ఇళయరాజా గారి వింటేజ్‌ వుంటుంది. అందుకే అడిగారు. ఈ సినిమా బ్యాక్‌ గ్రౌండ్‌ మ్యూజిక్‌ అల్టిమేట్‌. ఇళయరాజాగారు కొన్ని ట్రాక్స్‌ నోట్‌ ఇచ్చారు. దానిని యువన్‌ శంకరరాజా అద్భుతం గా చేశారు.

అండర్‌ వాటర్‌ సీన్‌ ఎన్నిరోజులు చేశారు?
నాలుగు రోజులు రిహార్సల్స్‌ చేశాం. మొత్తం 15రోజుల్లో షూట్‌ చేశాం.

ఈ రోజుల్లో ప్రేక్షకుల ఆలోచనలు మారాయి? హీరోగా మీకేమనిపిస్తుంది?
కరెక్టే. ప్రేక్షకుల ఆలోచనలు మారాయి. వారం వారం హీరో ఫేట్‌ మారిపోతుంది. కొత్త కథలను వారు అంగీకరిస్తున్నారు. హీరోగా ప్రతి వారికి ఛాలెంజ్‌గా వుంటుంది. సక్సెస్‌ కు ఒక ఫార్ములా లేదు.

సినిమా చేస్తున్నప్పుడే సక్సెస్‌ ఫెయిల్యూర్‌ తెలిసిపోతుందా?
రెండే చోట్ల తెలిసిపోతుంది. కథను ఎంపికలోనూ, షూటింగ్‌ లోనూ తెలిసిపోతుంది. వాటిని సరి చేసుకుంటూ సినిమా చేయడమే ముందున్న కర్తవ్యం.

కూల్‌ గా వుండే మీరు ఫెరోషియస్‌ పాత్ర ఎలా చేయగలిగారు?
అది వృత్తిపరంగా చేస్తాం. కూల్‌ అనేది వ్యక్తిగతం. ఏ నటుడికైనా వర్క్‌షాప్‌ చాలా ఉపయోగపడుతుంది. అది నాకు ఉపయోగపడింది. దానివల్ల బడ్జెట్‌పరంగా నిర్మాత కొంత సేవింగ్‌ కనిపిస్తుంది.

కస్టడీ2 వుంటుందా?
ప్రేక్షకులు హిట్‌ చేస్తే తప్పకుండా చేస్తాం.

Filmmaker and showrunner Mahi V Raghav is thrilled that his web series Save The Tigers, a first-of-its-kind ‘family and a situational comedy’ is a super success. He talks about his success, Save The Tigers (STT) - Season 2 in his media interaction. Excerpts from the conversation.

Q. Save The Tigers (STT) has become such a big hit.
Mahi: I wanted to first thank the audience for such an amazing response! The success is a great team effort. The Hotstar team has supported us all through without which this success wouldn't have been possible. Save The Tigers (STT) is a no-brainer and a slice of life series about couple's and their daily conflicts and battles in relationships. We want to capture the humour through conflicts in a couple. I think this genre is untouched in OTT in Telugu, and that worked big time in our favour. And more importantly we did not take any gender stand. So the fun is generated from your everyday life experiences.

Q. What does this success mean to you?
Mahi: This super success yet again proved that the audience always welcomes and appreciates fresh content. We wanted the whole family to come together to watch and enjoy a clean situational comedy (sitcom) without any inhibitions. The success further pushes us to come up with more ideas on similar lines.

Q. Why did you title the show as Save The Tigers (STT)
Mahi: Generally, men claim themselves to be tigers; but everyone knows who the tiger in the house is (women). But at least for the outside world, man wants to be the tiger. So given that context we thought to name it Save The Tiger where tigers (men) are getting extinct with a strong growing female resurgence. So it's a humorous take, and sitcoms don’t have twists but are more about relatability where you feel the story is happening around you or your neighborhood.

Q. Save The Tigers (STT) Season 2 is announced. When are you commencing it?
Mahi: The Hotstar team is happy with the reviews and feedback of Save The Tigers (STT). They have green-lit the Save The Tigers (STT) - Season 2. We will begin the work soon.

Q. Your production house Three Autumn Leaves is making films consistently for OTT! Any specific reason?
Mahi: Yes! Our bread and butter come from OTT! Personally, I feel OTT is our livelihood, something that I bet more than films. For me, a story is a story - whether theatrical or not. I have been into storytelling in OTT for the last 4 years. It took me two and half years to make two shows - Save The Tigers and Shaitan - so Three Autumn Leaves is consistently looking at delivering two shows every year.

Q. What are your upcoming projects?
Mahi: I have one more web series Shaitan, which will start streaming on Hotstar in June. It's a crime drama. I directed another film 'Siddha..Lokam Ela Undi Nayana'. It's a satirical drama.

Q: When is Yatra 2, a biopic on YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, starting?
Mahi: Yatra 2 will happen because it's the story that I want to tell and will be definitely told. But I can talk more about it when I have clarity on a time frame, content, and specific cast. There's nothing for me to secretly do or hide about it. But it's definitely a story that I would attempt at some time. But at this point in time, it's premature to comment.

Dimple Hayathi is the female lead in Macho Hero Gopichand's next, Ramabaanam releasing on May 5th. The film brings back the blockbuster combination of Gopichand and director Sriwass once again together. Dimple spoke to the media ahead of the film.

How did you get into Rambaanam project?

I signed Rambaanam while I was doing the movie 'Khiladi'. I looked very glamorous in Kiladi. After watching Khiladi, the director Sriwaas expressed his hesitation about me playing Bhairavi. After doing the screen test twice, I was selected after being convinced that I would be suitable for the role.

What is the difference between this character and your real life?

I will be seen as an urban girl in this film. My character name is Bhairavi and she is a vlogger. In real life, I stay away from social media. So this role was new to me. It was fun lots of fun in making reels and vlogs. There are many senior artists in the film. I have to create vlogs with all of them. It will be very entertaining. Rambanam is an entertainer that entertains everyone.

How was it working with Gopichand?

Gopichand speaks very little. He just wished Good morning, Hi, Good evening thats all I also speak less. He is very focused. If the scene is not right, it will be understood in his eyes. He speaks very composedly. Gopichand is a gentleman. Very supportive. It was a great experience working with him.

Ramabaanam has senior actors like Jagapathi Babu and Kushboo. What things did you learn from them?

In the set of 'Ramabaanam', there are always ten artists in the whole set. The set is always beautiful. After entering the set, we have a big list of artists like Jagapathi Babu, Kushboo, Ali, Vennela Kishore, Rajitha, etc. During this journey, Kushboo became like a second mother to me. We are very close. We also went on some trips while shooting this movie. They treated me like their daughter. She shared her experiences on the set. They helped me a lot. So is Jagapathi Babu. Rambanam is a great journey.

What is the advantage of being a dancer actor? How do you think you got into dancing and acting?

Many people ask me if I went to acting school. I never went to acting school. There are many dancers and actors in the house. I get more criticism from home (Laughs). Acting also came from dancing only.

Did you learn classical dance?

I didn't do anything special as an Arangetram. I learned by playing and singing. The Guinness World Record also came in the flow. They used to do some programs in Kuchipudi. Once upon a time Siliconandhra program used to be organized with thousands of dancers every year. I got a Guinness World Record for it.

What is your family background?

We are a big joint family. There are many actors and dancers. My father is a businessman. My father is a Tamilian and mother is Telugu. I was born in Vijayawada but grew up in Hyderabad.

You appeared in a glamorous role.. Now you are doing an urban girl. What kind of roles do you like to play?

As an actress one has to do all kinds of roles. As an actress, Gaddala Konda Ganesh song and iPhone song are the same for me. I will make sure that I am doing things right as an actress. I want to play such roles.

How are Telugu girls treated in the industry?

I am doing Rambaanam as my second film. Things have changed and so is the industry. Sri Leela is also a Telugu girl. We can celebrate when four more Telugu girls come as heroines. The situation has certainly changed now.

You started with a small film. Now doing films with stars. Are you happy in terms of career?

I'm just taking steps. There is still a lot to prove. I can answer this question after ten years.

How was it working with Sriwass?

Sriwass is a sweet person. He is very naughty (laughs) and he explains everything in great detail. He told me every detail related to my character in advance His advice and suggestions on how to do it as a vlogger helped me a lot.

How was working at People Media Factory?

Vishwaprasad and Vivek are very good people. Great producers. They have given everything needed for the film. They have a lot of clarity about the film. It was a pleasure to work in their production. I have to work once again in their production.

What are your next films?

I am doing two big films in Telugu and Tamil. Will announce soon.

'Phalana Abbayi Phalana Ammayi, starring Naga Shaurya, Malvika Nair, produced by People Media Factory and Dasari Productions, will hit theatres on March 17. The actor-turned-director Srinivas Avasarala said it took one and a half years to write the script alone.

Realism in the film

'Phalana Abbayi Phalana Ammayi' is a realistic film. I didn't want characters to mouth routine cliche dialogues or go with a proper script. I used to watch independent films a lot. The characters in those films are so realistic as if someone takes a camera and starts shooting while two characters speak to each other. It looks so realistic. So I genuinely felt that I should attempt such films.

Coming to our story 'Phalana Abbayi Phalana Ammayi', I was inspired by real-life characters and incidents in my life. It's a simplistic and a common story that is closer to people. It's not a distant story happened somewhere far off, no!. So when I thought what can be the title, this phrase struck me, Phalana Abbayi Phalana Ammayi.

Usually, films are based on real stories as filmmakers usually claim. What's new about 'Phalana Abbayi Phalana Ammayi'?

You've to watch only on the screen to find out what's new in this film (laughs). If Avasarala Srinivas and Naga Shaurya have joined hands, everyone might think that, oh this film is going to be like 'Oohalu Gusagusalade' or it could be any romantic comedy. But 'Phalana Abbayi Phalana Ammayi' doesn't look like a film that is scripted. Imagine how actors really look when they talk to each other on screen. Rather than banking on dialogues, comedy or punchlines, it's a realistic attempt to explore human behaviour on the screen.

Thinking away from the commercial meters, you have this flair for writing scripts with ease. Don't you think it is quite a challenge to even write scripts casually?

Every film has its own vibe. During the time of 'Oohalu Gusagusalade', I noticed some kind of joy flowing within me when I was writing the script. I felt as if I was creating a new world. While writing 'Phalana Abbayi Phalana Ammayi', I felt I was exploring real people. I usually take one and half year's time to write a story. Each film decides its own style. I don't write scripts deciding that this film is going to have commercial elements or it would be an art film. It's incorrect to make a film keeping commercial elements in view. Even if we do so, there will be a disconnect somewhere in the middle. So we get derived output only if there is a perfect resonance between the story and the style that you intended to showcase.

Every film is different. If we think that we can easily make the next movie based on the previous movie which is a hit, we will go wrong. The story stinks. When we write a story, we can easily make out the style of the film. If you are successful in explaining the style to the crew and cast, you will probably taste success.

What's the reason behind such a long gap between one film to another?

This current film took one and a half years. Even after 'Oohalu Gusagusalade' in 2014, I started writing 'Jyo Achyutananda' in 2016. So I take one year for scripting alone. I started this film 'Phalana Abbayi Phalana Ammayi' in 2019. We were shooting in the UK and the USA. We had to face struggles due to Covid. Not all were granted a visa. There were travel restrictions. Even for shooting overseas, some restrictions were clamped so we had a tough time managing all these things. So it took time to complete the shoot.

On Kanula Chatu Meghama, the first single and Kalyan Malik

I've known Kalyan Malik since the days of 'Ashta Chamma'. But I started creative interaction with him only during 'Oohalu Gusagusalade'. I know his taste and sense of humour. So communication between us grew bigger because of the familiarity. He did amazingly well in 'Jyo Achyutananda' and 'Oohalu Gusagusalade'. That's how we collaborated to get good output again.

Usually, a director expands his market with each and every film. But when it comes to your career, you don't seem to bother with such calculations, why so?

The story is what decides me. If any massive story strikes your mind, you would usually try to mount it. Then you carefully look into the cast. Who could be the best possible actor that fits into your story? But honestly, I don't write stories keeping specific heroes in mind. The scale doesn't mean budget alone. What longevity does a film have? To what extent it reached the audience over time is what matters to me.

On working with Naga Shaurya

This film has seven chapters. Each chapter's length is 20 minutes. And these seven chapters take place in the span of 10 years. Both Shaurya and Malvika Nair are seen in different time spans and ages. Shaurya had to work really hard to bring the look of a teenager and again he had to display the look of a 28-year-young man. So we shot the film beautifully and Shaurya has this special feeling that it's going to be a hit.

How much of your experience played the role in making the film? What's the process in bringing this kind of process where dialogues are minimal?

I like the timings and vibes of sunset and sunrise, I always wanted to incorporate them into my films. I also know that it doesn't really work if we come with dramatic writing and tell people that this is sunrise, no! Too many dialogues don't really work in this sort of set-up. We need to collaborate with actors to get the natural flow. Also, I don't know if I am saying this correctly or not. My strength is directing my actors.

Earning a nod from Malvika Nair

When I narrated the story, I explained the entire plot with all the scenes to her. When she heard the story, Malvika reacted very emotionally to the story. There was a personal connection that I noticed in her face. So the lip-lock scene existed at the script level. It's not that I told her about this particular scene when she came to the set. When the gap came due to Covid, again I had to remind her about the particular scene in the film. I think, if actors know the reason behind such scenes, and what could be the circumstances that drove it, they will definitely get convinced and go the extra mile.

On the film’s genre

It is a love story. It's a boy-meets-girl story and how they take their relationship is what forms the plot. Luckily the gap worked out well for the film. It has seven chapters, all should have good variations. Had I done one chapter after the other, the desired look would probably have been missed. So the Covid gap inevitably brought what I wanted. The film doesn't have any turning points. It only depicts an emotional love story.

On future projects

I have a story ready with me though it has not reached the narration stage yet. I haven’t finalised the actors. I and Nani plan to work on a film soon, both are keen to work with one another from a long time. I am also working on web show Kanyasulkam. with Anjali, Naresh, Murali Sharma and Varsha Bollamma. It’ll come to OTTs next month.

The film, written and directed by Lakshman K Krishna, is bankrolled by S Naga Vamsi under Sithara Entertainments in association with Fortune Four Cinemas. Ahead of its release, actress Varsha Bollamma shared her experiences of working in the film with the media.

On her character Bhagyalakshmi:

My character Bhagyalakshmi dominates Ganesh slightly in the film. While I play a firm, confident girl, there’s an innocence to Ganesh. She’s a pre-primary school teacher and like her strictness with students, she has the upper hand in the relationship too. I was initially interested in the film because it was being produced by a big banner like Sithara Entertainments, but I was equally impressed with the story later.

On using a real-life reference to play Bhagyalakshmi:

I didn’t have any real-life teacher in mind to play the part. Though I have had great teachers in the past, I didn’t have anyone as a reference for Swathimuthyam. Besides being a teacher, Bhagyalakshmi is essentially a fun-loving girl. I truly enjoy being amidst children and I don’t mind when they’re upto some frolic. It was great fun to act amidst children.

On Swathimythyam, the story:

Though we may deal with the same theme as Vicky Donor for a brief portion of the film, Swathimuthyam is a proper family entertainer and a love story. The world of this film is entirely different. I am not allowed to talk much about it now but you’ll realise it when you watch it in theatres.

I always like stories that are closer to reality and there’s a lot of depth to each of the characters in Swathimuthyam. The treatment is refreshing. I am a small-town girl myself and I know how small issues too are blown out of proportion in villages. This is a story that most families will relate to and I could understand and fall in love with this world.

On Swathimythyam’s cast:

The film is an out-and-out entertainer and the star cast says it all. Veterans like Naresh, Rao Ramesh and Goparaju Ramana add so much life to the story. This is my second film with Goparaju Ramana garu after Middle Class Melodies. He brings so much energy to the set and brings a lot of nuance to his dialogue delivery.

On Ganesh and her career choices:

Ganesh is very much aware of the ways of the industry and filmmaking in general. He was never like a newcomer on sets and came prepared. As an actress, I want to do all kinds of roles but it seems that audiences like to see me in girl-next-door characters and they became more popular in my career. I would be game for a psychotic character too, something like Riteish Deshmukh in Ek Villain.

As much as I’m looking forward to the commercial success of my films, I want to be recognised as a performer who can pull off any role. I have never regretted any of my decisions. I am ambitious and want to be known for my acting chops, but being an A-lister or not isn’t within my hands.

On director Lakshman K Krishna:

When I met the director Lakshman K Krishna first, I was reminded of Middle Class Melodies filmmaker Vinod Anantoju. Both come from small towns and exude innocence and warmth. As a filmmaker, Lakshman comes with a clear head and is a good writer. I am quite confident about the film.

On associating with Sithara Entertainments:

I don’t believe any banner will be called big just because they score commercial successes. Sithara Entertainments has a reputation because of its value system, the way they treat, respect people on set. Whenever my team is working on a film with such a banner, they’re thrilled about the work. They pay on time, and choose good stories and that has brought them this far.

On Telugu cinema and other industries:

I am quite thrilled about working in Telugu cinema. I got a lot of respect here and since my debut, the industry made me feel comfortable. I never felt like I was working here, I come to the set with a lot of joy. I have entered films with Tamil cinema and did Malayalam films too but Kannada offers haven’t come my way. My next release will be Ooru Peru Bhairavakona alongside Sundeep Kishan.
