Washington, June 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) US senators from both parties raised concerns about the impact of a $100,000 H-1B visa fee on rural hospitals, pressing Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin to consider relief for foreign doctors recruited to underserved communities.

During a Senate Appropriations Subcommittee hearing on the Department of Homeland Security's fiscal year 2027 budget request, Senator Susan Collins of Maine raised the issue of difficulties that the rural healthcare providers face in attracting specialised medical professionals.

Collins told the hearing that a hospital in Presque Isle, a rural community in northern Maine, recently had to pay the fee to secure a much-needed surgeon from overseas. She argued that medical providers serving remote areas should be treated differently from employers recruiting highly skilled workers in sectors with larger domestic labour pools.

"Would you be willing to consider carving out an exemption for medical professionals from this fee when a community can demonstrate that there is not a medical professional available?" Collins asked.

Mullin acknowledged the challenge and said the department was willing to examine possible solutions, although he cautioned that creating a broad exemption could prove difficult under existing rules.

"We do have some authority and flexibility to be able to waive some of this on a case by case," Mullin said.

The Homeland Security Secretary said DHS had received about 286,000 H-1B applications so far in fiscal year 2026. According to Mullin, more than 200,000 applicants opted to pay the $100,000 fee because it allows applications to be processed more quickly.

"In fact, when we do that, we're able to process them in about 15 days," he said, adding that applicants seeking exemptions or alternative pathways often face waits of around seven and a half months.

Mullin said the department would be willing to work with lawmakers on possible changes.

"We're happy to look into it, look at language, try to get it better, because I agree. From a very rural area, I understand how hard it is to get doctors," he said.

Collins argued that healthcare staffing shortages present a different challenge from workforce needs in technology hubs.

"I would suggest that there's a huge difference between bringing in a computer expert from another country to work in wealthy California and Silicon Valley versus a much needed surgeon to work at a rural hospital in northern Maine," she said.

The discussion later broadened to other employment-based visa programmes. Collins also urged DHS to explore reforms to the H-2B seasonal worker visa system, including possible exemptions for returning workers and employers with strong compliance records. Mullin said he was open to streamlining the process but noted that some changes would require congressional action.

Washington, June 2 (SocialNews.XYZ) US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Tuesday delivered a forceful defence of the Trump administration's foreign policy, telling lawmakers that every diplomatic decision must be judged by whether it advances the interests of the United States.

Appearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Rubio said the administration had reoriented US foreign policy around national security, economic strength and sovereignty after what he described as "years of misplaced priorities".

"Our foreign policy is one that's solely focused on the national interest of the United States of America," he added.

He said that Washington's diplomatic and aid programmes should serve American interests first.

"The reality of it is that our foreign policy, first and foremost, must always be what is in the national interest of the United States of America," the Secretary of State added.

Rubio's appearance came as lawmakers examined President Donald Trump's proposed State Department budget and the administration's restructuring of American diplomacy and foreign assistance programmes.

The Secretary of State said that difficult choices were often unavoidable in foreign policy.

"Sometimes in foreign policy, the choices are not between a good choice and a bad choice," Rubio added.

"It's between two less-than-ideal choices."

Rubio repeatedly stressed that the US administration was seeking measurable outcomes rather than maintaining programmes for their own sake.

"The United States government is not a charity," he said.

"We are not here to play social worker. We are here to win."

The remarks reflected one of the clearest articulations yet of the US administration's foreign policy doctrine during Trump's second term.

Rubio said that American power should be used primarily to protect US citizens, strengthen the economy, and secure the country's future.

"American leadership, however, should always be on behalf of the American interests," he added.

He pointed to developments in the Western Hemisphere as an example of what he described as successful diplomacy.

"We now have in this hemisphere a coalition of friendly countries, over a dozen, who have aligned to work on not just the issues of security that we all have in common, but also economic prosperity," Rubio said.

The Secretary of State said the US administration had also transformed foreign aid programmes by bringing them under closer State Department supervision.

"The old model had to be replaced," he added.

According to Rubio, aid programmes are now tied more closely to strategic goals and national interests.

"We're not just providing money, we are also seeking outcomes," he said.

Committee Chairman Jim Risch praised many of the Trump administration's initiatives, including efforts to reduce illegal immigration, combat fentanyl trafficking, and encourage allies to assume greater responsibility for their own defence.

Risch also commended the US State Department's restructuring efforts, saying the agency was becoming more efficient and more closely aligned with American interests.

Rubio acknowledged that Congress would ultimately reshape the administration's budget proposal during the appropriations process but said he welcomed that debate.

"The appropriators here will have a huge say on the outcome of what that budget ultimately looks like," he said.

The BJP-led Centre formed an inquiry committee to conduct a thorough probe into the On-Screen marking controversy.

The One-Member Committee will be chaired by S. Radha Chauhan, Capacity Building Commission Chairperson.

The Committee will submit its report within a month to the Department of Personnel and Training.

Speaking to reporters at an event, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju asserted that citizens should have faith when a matter is being examined from the Prime Minister's level.

Uttar Pradesh Minister and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) Chief Om Prakash Rajbhar described the decision as a good step taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"Some people who had indulged in wrongdoing with the students should be punished and students should be served justice. Whatever step the Prime Minister has taken in this regard is absolutely correct," he told IANS.

However, Shiv Sena-UBT MP Arvind Sawant said: ''How can this be justified? They (CBSE officials) should have been suspended and made to stay at home. Such people should not be allowed to continue in their positions."

He added that CBSE is a highly prestigious institution, and a CBSE student is expected to receive a quality education.

"Everyone involved bears responsibility for this. Along with the government, the parents are also equally responsible," he told IANS.

Meanwhile, the inquiry panel will probe the procurement of On-Screen Marking (OSM) services by CBSE, which has been mired in a raging row over claims of guidelines relaxations to favour any particular vendor.

Rahul Singh is the current CBSE Chairman, while Himanshu Gupta is the CBSE's Secretary as well as Chief Administrative Officer.

With the Union government's crackdown on alleged malpractices, both top officials have been shunted out of their positions.

The development comes amid an escalating controversy over the board's newly introduced On-screen marking (OSM) system.

Hyderabad, June 2 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Telangana Prisons and Correctional Services Department on Tuesday released 91 life convicts, who were granted special remission by the state government, on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day.

The department has also extended employment and rehabilitation support to facilitate their reintegration into society.

Among those released are 85 male convicts and six female convicts. All of them were identified as eligible for remission based on the guidelines prescribed by the state government.

With the aim of enabling the released convicts to lead dignified and meaningful lives in society and to foster their successful reintegration into the community, the Telangana Prisons Department has undertaken several initiatives.

According to Soumya Mishra, Director General of the Telangana Prisons Department, of the 91 individuals released, employment opportunities have been provided to 38 at various fuel outlets operated by the Telangana Prisons Department.

These appointments are expected to facilitate their immediate livelihood and aid in their smooth integration into society.

"The remaining 53 released convicts expressed interest in pursuing self-employment, agriculture, family businesses, and other independent professions. This reflects their resolve to rebuild their lives in a lawful and constructive manner," Mishra said.

To promote women's empowerment and rehabilitation, four female convicts were provided with sewing machines under a self-employment assistance scheme implemented through the Prison Development Fund.

Soumya Mishra added that this initiative is not merely about the release of prisoners, but marks the beginning of a new life characterised by responsibility, dignity, and hope.

She emphasised that every individual possesses the capacity for transformation, and that the objective of the prison system extends beyond merely imposing punishment to providing opportunities for reform and positive change.

She noted that the released prisoners have earned this opportunity through their exemplary conduct, discipline, and unwavering commitment to reform throughout their incarceration.

She urged them to make the most of this second chance granted by the state government, to lead law-abiding lives, and to become productive citizens who contribute positively to society.

She also encouraged them to maintain strong bonds with their families, contribute to the development of the community, and serve as role models for successful rehabilitation.

Mishra highlighted that the Telangana Prisons Department is continuously striving to transform prisons into centres for reform, skill development, and rehabilitation through various initiatives, including education, vocational training, employment-oriented programmes, counselling, and welfare schemes.

She also noted that the rehabilitation process does not conclude the moment a prisoner steps outside the prison gates; rather, post-release assistance remains crucial for ensuring their successful reintegration into society.

Hyderabad, June 2 (SocialNews.XYZ) Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) C. Sudharsan Reddy said on Tuesday that 68.30 per cent of the mapping has been completed across the state under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

He assessed the preparedness for Phase III of the SIR at a review meeting attended by senior officials from the Election Commission of India (ECI), including Principal Secretary Avinash Kumar and Under Secretary Sanjay Kumar.

Commissioner of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and District Election Officer, Hyderabad, the Collector, as well as Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) of Hyderabad and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts were also present.

The CEO briefed the ECI officials on details of the Assembly Constituencies, the manpower drafted for SIR (including EROs, AEROs, BLO Supervisors, and BLOs), and the setting up of help desks.

The ECI officials gave a comprehensive presentation on the Special Intensive Revision, covering relevant provisions of the Constitution, the Representation of the People Act, 1950, and the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960.

They explained the importance of the SIR and detailed the key steps involved in the process: the enumeration phase (online/offline), the draft publication of the electoral roll, the filing and disposal of claims and objections, the issuance and disposal of notices, and the final publication of the roll.

The officials stressed the need to remain vigilant while filling out and collecting enumeration forms. They instructed officials to widely publicise the online submission of forms via the official portal (voters.eci.gov.in), as well as the “Book a Call” facility, which helps voters get quick information about the SIR.

Additionally, District Election Officers were directed to hold regular all-party meetings and actively involve Booth Level Agents (BLAs) in the SIR process.

Meanwhile, Telangana Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao has directed district Collectors to involve people in the SIR process and create awareness among them.

Emphasising the importance of spiritual tourism, the Chief Minister noted that the Godavari river basin is home to numerous sacred temples and pilgrimage centres, making the Pushkaralu an excellent opportunity to promote spiritual tourism and boost economic activity across the region.

Naidu, reviewing arrangements with the Ministers’ Committee and senior officials at the Secretariat, said all departments must work closely to ensure the prestigious event runs smoothly.

He also reviewed the Akhanda Godavari Development Project. He reiterated that the Polavaram Project would be completed and dedicated to the nation before the commencement of the Pushkaralu, creating an additional attraction for visitors.

The Chief Minister proposed developing the stretch from Dhavaleswaram to the Polavaram Project as an “Akhanda Godavari Corridor” and instructed officials to ensure that all infrastructure developed for the Pushkaralu becomes a lasting asset for the Godavari basin region. He expressed confidence that the event would significantly contribute to transforming Rajamahendravaram into a major metropolitan city.

Naidu directed officials to focus on highway and railway traffic management and make special arrangements for the large influx of pilgrims from rural areas. To ensure convenience and avoid confusion, he instructed that all Pushkar ghats be numbered systematically.

He called for improved road connectivity through national and state highways and enhanced railway services between Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada. He directed officials to write to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw seeking additional special trains and financial assistance from the Centre.

He also suggested exploring the establishment of Kumbh Mela-style tent cities and homestay facilities to accommodate pilgrims and tourists. Referring to the recent field visit by Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Naidu instructed officials to incorporate his recommendations into the planning process.

The Chief Minister directed officials to construct roads on both sides of the Polavaram Project and undertake extensive beautification of the Godavari River embankments. He also suggested renovating the residence of social reformer Kandukuri Veeresalingam in Rajamahendravaram. Prominent spiritual leaders, heads of religious institutions, political leaders and film personalities will be invited to participate.

Naidu instructed officials to present a comprehensive action plan by June 24, after which the official countdown to the event will begin. He further directed APSAC, RTGS and TTD to jointly develop crowd management systems and launch a dedicated Akhanda Godavari Pushkaralu-2027 website.

He emphasised the uninterrupted conduct of Akhanda Harathi to the Godavari River and Pavitra Harathi to the Krishna River.

The government has decided to prepare 525 ghats across six districts, Polavaram, Eluru, East Godavari, West Godavari, Konaseema, and Kakinada, for the Pushkaralu. In addition to the existing 288 ghats, proposals have been prepared for the construction of 237 new ghats.

The total length of Pushkar ghats is proposed to be expanded from 4.5 km to 9.9 km. The first ghat will be developed at Gundala in Polavaram district, while the final ghats will be located at Antarvedi and Balusutippa in Konaseema district, Govalanka in Kakinada district and Narsapuram in West Godavari district.

Officials estimate that nearly 9.95 crore pilgrims will take a holy dip during Pushkaralu-2027. Historical participation figures indicate that approximately 1.2 crore devotees attended the 1991 Pushkaralu, 5 crore in 2003, and 4.86 crore in 2015.

Making it clear that he will not be cowed down by threats, the actor-politician said that, if necessary, he would travel in Telangana.

“Telangana is an integral part of India,” he said, addressing those threatening him that Telangana is not the private estate of their father.

Pawan Kalyan was addressing a press conference outside his Jubilee Hills residence, after police denied Jana Sena permission to hold a meeting, citing possible law and order problems.

A large number of Jana Sena workers gathered to hear Pawan Kalyan as police erected barricades and imposed traffic restrictions to prevent any untoward incident.

He declared that Jana Sena will definitely contest the 2029 Telangana Assembly elections, though alliance decisions will be taken later.

He, however, clarified that he currently has no intention of personally contesting from Telangana. He called for a debate on employment opportunities, governance issues, and the implementation of the Congress government’s six guarantees instead of engaging in divisive politics.

The Deputy CM of Andhra Pradesh reacted strongly to threats issued by some leaders that he would not be allowed to move around in Telangana.

"A few leaders are saying how I will enter Hyderabad. Is Telangana your father’s private estate? Who are you to threaten me?” he asked amid loud cheers by his supporters.

“I could not become Chief Minister in Andhra. Will I become Chief Minister in Telangana? What’s your fear?” he asked and remarked that he doesn’t love power but loves a change.

Jana Sena leader alleged that those threatening him fear that Jana Sena may create awareness in Telangana.

Responding to allegations over land encroachment in Telangana, he said that if he had illegally occupied a lake, he would be willing to hand it over to the government.

He listed out the sections under which cases can be booked if anyone tries to attack him or his house.

Pawan challenged those threatening to pass a resolution in the Telangana Assembly if they truly believed he should not enter the state.

“This is India. I can travel to any part of my country. Do I need a passport to enter another state?” he asked.

Pawan Kalyan stated that he had never spoken against Telangana even during the tenure of K. Chandrasekhar Rao and maintained that he does not believe in creating unnecessary conflicts. He said he has tolerated attacks and criticism for the past 12 years and would not be intimidated by threats.

The actor-politician also remarked that regional hatred is more dangerous than terrorism. He said rulers and people are different, and warned against provoking divisions between Telugu-speaking communities.

"In Surat, there are Telugu people. If those people say that Telugu people shouldn’t stay here, and if people in Maharashtra say that Telugu people shouldn’t stay there, will that work?” he asked.

"TMC leaders also said that people will chase opposition leaders away, but instead, people chased TMC leaders away."

Alleging that one Congress leader during a debate declared that he likes Pakistan, he said the leaders of the same Congress are saying that if he holds a meeting, then harmony will be disturbed.

Pawan Kalyan said he expects Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi to respond to this. “You are a so-called national party. A few Congress leaders are behaving like separatists. Again, you want to come into Andhra Pradesh, and you want to be there. What a contradiction. What a hypocrisy..."

The Jana Sena leader said that rulers are different from people. He believes that there is no hatred towards Andhra among the people of Telangana. “If they had truly shown hatred, not a single person from Andhra would be staying here.”

He clarified that Jana Sena did not oppose the formation of the Telangana state. He said Jana Sena opposed the manner in which the bifurcation was done by closing the doors of Parliament.

Pawan Kalyan said it was not a newfound love that had come for Telangana today. I have taken inspiration from Telangana's culture, traditions, literature, and the spirit of struggle.

He stated that even before the Telangana agitation started, he had encouraged Telangana culture, and he visited remote areas of Telangana.

He said that the situation was similar to that of the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, which had split into two factions in 2022.

In an interaction with IANS, Dutta said: "It has come to light that yesterday afternoon, under the leadership of Sandipan Saha and Ritabrata Banerjee, around 50 MLAs have conducted a meeting, either on phone or in person."

Significantly, the Trinamool Congress on Monday expelled the two MLAs, Ritabrata Banerjee and Sandipan Saha, for anti-party activities.

"I have heard that these leaders want to split the Trinamool Congress and form a new party, which they want to name 'Asli Trinamool Congress'. They want to make Ritabrata Banerjee the Leader of the Opposition," he added.

Dutta further said that these MLAs can later stake a claim on the party symbol of the Trinamool.

"Trinamool MLA Kunal Ghosh had appealed to other MLAs of the party during his press conference to maintain unity and not to listen to Ritabrata Banerjee," he mentioned.

He claimed that a lot of things have taken place between Monday night and today afternoon. "Senior Trinamool Congress leaders are calling up to appeal that the party should not be split," he added.

"I have personal information that many of the party leaders are angry against (Trinamool general secretary and MP) Abhishek Banerjee and against the I-PAC, for the way I-PAC was imposed on them. Around 50 MLAs have almost decided that they will split up and form 'Asli Trinamool Congress'. Post which they will submit a letter to the Assembly Speaker," Dutta claimed.

He highlighted that the anti-defection law won't work if 50 MLAs defect from the Trinamool and submit a letter to the Speaker.

Drawing similarities to the Shiv Sena and Shiv Sena-UBT, he said: "Shiv Sena Maharashtra Model is now taking place in Bengal."

The MLAs were expelled from the Trinamool after Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, addressing a press conference from the state secretariat Nabanna, announced that it was Ritabrata and Sandipan who had submitted a written complaint to the Speaker regarding the Assembly signature forgery case.

Meanwhile, a day after being expelled from the party, Ritabrata Banerjee claimed that after facing “public anguish” at Sonarpur in South 24 Parganas district on the afternoon of May 30, Abhishek Banerjee had now sought Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) security cover for himself.

He claimed that the case was registered against him for revealing the name of the school where the incident took place, since the institution had trustees with "links to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)".

The Delhi Police on Tuesday had registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the AAP leader.

Speaking to IANS, Bharadwaj clarified saying: "I have not taken the victim's name, nor that of her parents. I don't even know their names. Cases are being lodged against me for revealing the name of the school."

He also claimed that three cases have been registered against him.

"All because we (AAP) are raising the issue of the rape of a three-year-old girl. The case in which the DCP summons the girl's parents and harasses them. The case in which the SHO harasses the girl's parents from morning till evening. The case in which the girl identified the perpetrators," Bharadwaj said.

Referring to the main accused, a 57-year-old caretaker, and a female class teacher, the AAP leader said: "Both the accused were granted bail within five days."

Bharadwaj also alleged, saying: "Several BJP leaders have their known people as trustees in the board of the concerned 'S. S. Mota Singh School'. Why has this been done? What do they have to do with this school?"

"They (BJP) want to protect the honour of the school so that its reputation does not gets tarnished, raising questions over the future of the thousands of students enrolled there," he added.

Questioning about the safety of those studying in that school, the AAP leader said: "Has the government or the police thought anything about them."

The case was related to an incident in which a nine-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered inside a crematorium in 2021 in the Delhi Cantonment area.

Responding to the crime, Bharadwaj on the social media platform X said: "Today, the youngest 'cockroach' in the country is a mere three-year-old girl. She was raped at a school in Janakpuri. The accused is a 57-year-old senior official of the school."

New Delhi, June 2 (SocialNews.XYZ) Activists of the student organisation, Krantikari Yuva Sangathan (KYS), on Tuesday held a protest at the Union Ministry of Education against the unending saga of repeated failures of the National Testing Agency (NTA), demanding accountability and structural reforms in the country's examination system.

Bhim Kumar, a member of the Delhi State Committee, KYS, claimed that some of the activists were detained by the police and taken to an undisclosed destination.

The KYS demands that the Union Government and the Union Education Ministry should issue a public apology for the disorder and the Union Education Minister must resign, taking responsibility for the humongous mismanagement that has led to the marring of students’ future, he said.

He said, in a statement, that it should be noted that on May 3, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission into medical colleges was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). However, within a few days, the NTA issued a public notice announcing the cancellation of the examination due to a paper leak.

He said this is not an isolated incident, but rather a repetition of numerous paper leak incidents. It should be noted that two years ago, in 2024, the NEET-UG examination and the UGC-NET examination papers were leaked.

Similarly, on May 30, the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) was severely disrupted at various centres across the country due to gross mismanagement, technical glitches and server-related failures, the statement said.

At many centres, the examination could not commence at the scheduled time, forcing students to wait for hours under conditions of uncertainty and confusion, it said.

Students and parents faced severe inconvenience and disorder at several centres, including those in Noida, and protests were reported from a number of examination venues, it said, adding that, reportedly, at some centres the examination had to be cancelled after students had already been made to wait for several hours.

As a result, lakhs of students were subjected to immense hardship. Many candidates had travelled long distances from remote areas to reach their examination centres, only to bear the consequences of the NTA's gross negligence and failure in examination management, the statement said.

The authorities also failed to provide clear and timely information to students, leading to widespread confusion and chaos, it said.

In such a situation, despite repeated incidents that continue to push the future of students into darkness, instead of ensuring strict action and dismissal of NTA officials, the Union Education Ministry has continued trying to cover up the issue, thereby clearly exposing its apathy towards lakhs of students appearing for these examinations, it said.

Moreover, the functioning of the NTA has been under serious scrutiny in recent years. The NEET-UG paper leak scandal and the corruption allegations associated with it generated widespread outrage among students and parents across the country, it said.

Similarly, irregularities and instances of mismanagement have surfaced repeatedly in examinations such as UGC-NET, CUET, and other national-level entrance tests. Despite this, the Union Government and the Ministry of Education have failed to ensure accountability within the NTA, said the statement.

The repeated scandals surrounding national and even state-level entrance and competitive examinations must also be viewed in the context of the growing commercialisation of education and the enormous influence exercised by the coaching industry, it said.

Hyderabad, June 2 (SocialNews.XYZ) Telangana Advocates Protection Act, 2026 came into effect from Tuesday. The Chief Minister Revanth Reddy-led Telangana government officially notified the implementation of the Act, aimed at providing protection to advocates in the discharge of their professional duties.

The Law Department on Tuesday issued Government Order (G.O) No. 41, bringing the Act into force across the state.

The Assembly had passed the Telangana Advocates Protection Bill, 2026, in March this year to protect advocates amid increasing attacks on them. The Governor subsequently gave his assent for the Bill.

This legislation aims to provide police protection for advocates; safeguards against false cases, conspiracies, and harassment; a dedicated grievance redressal mechanism; and protection from threats and retaliatory attacks while discharging professional duties.

Terming it a big step for the safety of advocates, the state government had told the Assembly that the Bill was drafted following the Bar Council of Telangana's resolution and input from High Court Bar Associations, legal forums, and the legal community.

The government had said that this law ensures professional safety and security for advocates while strengthening their confidence. This step reinforces the importance of the legal profession and empowers advocates to serve justice without fear, Minister for Legislative Affairs D. Sridhar Babu had told the Assembly.

Sridhar Babu said that after Karnataka and Rajasthan, Telangana is among the states to introduce such a law. The Bar Council of India also prepared a draft in 2021 to address advocate safety, and the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court had emphasised the need for a special law.

The legislation came into force a few days after the sensational killing of Telangana High Court advocate Khaja Moizuddin in Hyderabad.

He was killed on May 23 near his house in Masab Tank when he was getting into his car. A speeding four-wheeler intentionally hit him, resulting in serious injuries and later his death.

Police on May 29 announced arrest of Congress leader Mujahid Alam Khan, his father Nawab Mahbub Alam Khan, and five associates.

State Congress unit Vice President Mujahid Alam Khan and his father, Mahbub Alam Khan, a prominent citizen and secretary of Anwar-ul-Uloom Educational Association, allegedly conspired with their associates and hired killers to eliminate Moizuddin for a contract of Rs 15 lakh.

According to police, the motive behind the murder was a prolonged dispute between the family of Mujahid Alam Khan and the deceased advocate over Waqf properties and management issues. Several civil, criminal, and Waqf Tribunal cases were pending between both groups for many years.

Hyderabad, June 2 (SocialNews.XYZ) Telangana High Court dismissed the House Motion petition filed by Jana Sena Party, headed by Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, for conducting a meeting in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

The High Court ruled that the request was not strong enough to be heard as an urgent House Motion.

The Jana Sena had challenged the decision of Cyberabad Police to deny permission to Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Telangana Nava Nirmana Sankalpa Sabha’, planned to be held on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day on June 2.

Jana Sena had earlier said that if the High Court denied permission for the meeting, its chief, Pawan Kalyan, would address the media at his residence in Jubilee Hills.

“I will address a press meet at my home in Jubilee Hills today between 4.30 to 5.30 p.m. I hope the Telangana Police Department at least gives me permission to do a press meet with JSP leaders. Let’s see…,” Pawan Kalyan posted on X on Tuesday.

He also stated that Jana Sena took birth on the soil of Telangana and that it inherited and imbibed the spirit of struggle from this land.

Greeting people of Telangana on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day, he said the Jana Sena Party was fully committed to working with unwavering dedication towards realising the aspirations, upholding the self‑respect, and achieving the holistic development goals of the people of Telangana.

Cyberabad Police on Monday rejected Jana Sena’s request for permission to hold the meeting.

CH. Srinivas, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Serilingampally Zone, Cyberabad Commissionerate, communicated to Talluri Ram, General Secretary, Jana Sena Party, that the request to conduct the proposed meeting was rejected to ensure law and order and public peace and tranquillity.

The Jana Sena had sought permission for a meeting at Sandhya Convention, Gachibowli, on June 2 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., with an expected participation of about 2,000 persons.

Jana Sena said the reasons cited for rejecting the permission raised more questions than they answered and appeared more like excuses than genuine concerns.

“How did the baseless remarks of an analyst and the counterarguments made against those baseless remarks suddenly become a threat to law and order across Telangana? Isn’t that a lame excuse to stop the event?” asked the party in a statement posted on X.

Meanwhile, Jana Sena leaders in Telangana celebrated Telangana State Formation Day at the party’s state office in Kukatpally.

The leaders paid rich tributes to the immortal heroes of the Telangana movement and expressed their desire for the state to achieve further progress in all sectors. They extended heartfelt best wishes to the people of the state.

Mumbai, June 2 (SocialNews.XYZ) Late legendary playback singer Suman Kalyanpur had once opened up about one of the most constant comparisons of her superhit songs, being mistaken to be sung by legendary singer and her competitor Lata Mangeshkar.

In an old interview with DD News, Suman Kalyanpur was seen candidly talking about how listeners often assumed many of her hit songs had been sung by Lata Mangeshkar because of the striking similarity in their voices.

When asked whether she ever felt affected by constant comparisons with the late Nightingale of India, Kalyanpur responded with much humility.

She said she never fully understood why their voices sounded so alike, but recalled that ever since childhood, people would often assume songs sung by her were actually playbacked by Lata Mangeshkar.

"Pata nahi kyun aise hain, meri samajh mein nahi aata hai. Magar jab bhi bachpan se main gaati thi, sabhi ko lagta tha ki yeh unka gaana hua hai," she said.

The veteran singer then offered an humourous explanation for the similarity. "Shayad hum saath mein gaye honge Bhagwan ke paas maangne kuch aur humko aadha-aadha mila hoga. Aise isliye meri awaaz waise milti hai. Bass woh pehle aa gayi hai," she joked.

The singer also revealed that she shared a warm and cordial relationship with Lata Mangeshkar.

Recalling their interactions, she said, "Bahut achche se milte thi. Bahut achcha humare beech mein rapport rehta tha."

Over the course of a career spanning several decades, Suman Kalyanpur carved a niche for herself as one of Hindi cinema's most beloved playback singers.

The Governor remarked that Telangana's centuries-old culture, traditions, and rural agrarian heritage constitute the true lifeblood of the state. He lauded the efforts of the farming community -- ranging from the chain of tanks dating back to the Kakatiya era to modern irrigation projects of today -- for transforming Telangana into a lush and fertile land.

He noted with pride that, alongside the agricultural sector, Telangana has achieved international recognition in various other fields, including IT, pharmaceuticals, and startups.

Inspired by constitutional values and the noble ideal of "Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah" (May all be happy), the Governor expressed his aspiration for the construction of a prosperous Telangana -- one where rural development, urban development, the welfare of all sections of society, and the modernisation of cities proceed in perfect balance.

Cyberabad police denied permission for Pawan Kalyan's 'Telangana Nava Nirmana Sankalpa Sabha' planned to be held on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day on Tuesday, citing ‘substantial threat’ it poses to the law-and-order situation.

Police said that the request for permission to hold the proposed meeting was rejected to ensure law & order and public peace and tranquillity.

Meanwhile, in another social media post, Pawan Kalyan stated that the birth of Telangana stands as a historic milestone - the culmination of decades of public aspirations, a struggle for self-respect, and immense sacrifices.

“I offer my humble tributes to the activists, students, intellectuals, artists, employees, farmers, and martyrs who dedicated their very lives to the realization of Telangana.”

He said the courage to raise one's voice -- be it for the welfare of the downtrodden, the aspirations of the youth, or against any infringement upon individual liberty -- resides within Telangana.

Chief Minister Reddy presented medals of gallantry and meritorious services to the police officers and prizes to the best contingents.

The Chief Minister in his speech paid tributes to those who laid down their lives during the decades long struggle for statehood of Telangana.

“Many of the Telangana activists fought for Telangana and stood as valiant fighters. On the occasion of Telangana state Formation Day today, I am bowing my head and paying humble homage to their sacrifices and the indomitable courage displayed during the Telangana movement,” he said.

“June 2 is an emotional occasion as we commemorate our history of sacrifice and chart a road map for the development of the youngest state of Telangana,” he added.

On behalf of Telangana people, he expressed profound gratitude to the then Prime Minister late Manmohan Singh, and the then UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi for fulfilling the dream of statehood that the Telangana people had cherished for a long time.

The Chief Minister cut short his speech in view of the heatwave conditions. He said that his prepared text should be treated as read.

Contingents from various wings of Telangana Police participated in the colourful march past. Seventh battalion of Telangana Special Police was honoured with the best contingent award for its outstanding performance.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka unfurled the National Flag at Khammam. He said that for a decade Telangana was deceived and neglected. “Today, it is breathing new life again, with a people’s government reviving the shattered economy and rebuilding the future of the state,” he said.

Minister for Minority Welfare Mohammed Azharuddin unfurled the National Flag at Jagtial Collectorate.

Telangana Formation Day celebrations were also held at the offices of all political parties.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President, Mahesh Kumar Goud, hoisted the Tricolour at the Congress headquarters Gandhi Bhavan.

At Telangana Bhavan, the headquarters of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), party Working President K.T. Rama Rao unfurled the Tricolour.

Revanth Reddy said on Tuesday that his dream is to position the state not merely as a gateway for the nation, but to the entire world and that the roadmap to achieving this vision is mentioned in the 'Telangana Rising - 2047' document. 

Addressing the Telangana Formation Day celebrations at Parade Grounds here, he stated it is the firm resolve of “people's government” that Telangana should emerge as a one-trillion US dollar economy by 2034, and a three-trillion-dollar economy by 2047.

The Chief Minister said that to the best of his knowledge, a single master plan encompassing an entire state does not exist anywhere else in the country.

Telangana Rising - 2047 Vision Document has classified the state into three categories -- CURE, PURE and RARE. “We are adopting a three-tiered strategy for development. We designate the region situated within the Outer Ring Road surrounding Greater Hyderabad as the "CURE" zone. We are transforming this area into a world-class services hub.”

The Chief Minister stated that the primary objective of this plan is to develop this region as a completely eco-friendly and pollution-free zone. “We have introduced the HILT Policy to facilitate the relocation of polluting industries to areas situated beyond the Outer Ring Road. Furthermore, the government is actively promoting the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs). We are providing exemptions on registration fees and road taxes in addition to the lifetime tax for electric vehicles.”

The government is constructing a Regional Ring Road on the lines of the Outer Ring Road. It has developed plans to transform the PURE (Peri-Urban Region Economy) zone situated between these two ring roads into a vibrant hub for infrastructure and manufacturing. “We are developing 'Bharat Future City' -- a Greenfield Smart City in 30,000 acres. Regional connectivity will be strengthened by developing Shamshabad as a bullet train hub.”

He said that RARE will constitute the very heart of Telangana's DNA. “Agriculture and agro-based industries fall within the purview of this zone. This region extends from the Regional Ring Road right up to the borders of Telangana. Initiatives concerning irrigation, the development of agro-industries, agricultural research, crop diversification, and similar aspects will be driven through the industries and research centres established within this zone.”

Stating that the state government is giving equal priority to development and welfare, he claimed that Telangana is the only state implementing numerous welfare schemes and standing as a role model in the country.

“For the past two and a half years, we have been working hard, taking various policy decisions and implementing action plans to fulfil the aspirations of farmers, youth, and women along with ensuring social justice and holistic development for the SC, ST, BC, minority, and economically weaker sections of the upper castes,” he said.

The Chief Minister stated that the “people's government” has been working tirelessly with indomitable spirit since the very moment it assumed office on December 7, 2023. “Our ultimate goal is the welfare of Telangana people and the development of the state. Our top priority is the eradication of poverty. “

He pointed out that agriculture is designated as a top priority in the policy document 'Telangana Rising -2047' with the objective of positioning Telangana as the leader in agriculture, developing agro-based industries, and allied sectors, and also bringing about a transformative change in the lives of farmers.

According to estimates for 2025-26, Telangana achieved a record high of 236.87 lakh tonnes of food grain production. The incentives provided by the government to farmers drew outstanding results in the production of paddy, maize, and cotton. Furthermore, the livestock and fisheries sectors have also achieved substantial growth, he said.

He urged the farmers to adopt the diversification of their crop production, thereby transforming Telangana into a land of diverse and abundant harvests.

The Chief Minister revealed that the state government spent Rs 1,56,496 crore on agriculture and farmer welfare over the past two and a half years.

He said the state government is procuring harvested crops directly from farmers by paying MSP to ensure that farmers do not fall prey to middlemen and face exploitation.

“Despite facing a financial burden, we are purchasing every single grain of the farmer's produce. The government has spent Rs 82,840 crore on procurement since assuming office in December, 2023. During this Rabi season, paddy procurement is taken up actively through 8,575 procurement centres across the state. So far, we have procured 63.65 lakh metric tons of paddy and deposited Rs 11,903 crore directly into farmers' accounts. We also procured nearly 10,000 metric tons of wet paddy to rescue the farmers from losses in the areas where the harvest was damaged due to unseasonal rains.”

“Today, no other state in the country is in a position to compete with Telangana in paddy procurement. I take pride in stating that Telangana’s share accounts for 60 per cent of the total paddy procured across the nation during the Yasangi (Rabi) season,” he added.

New Delhi, June 2 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Delhi Police on Tuesday registered a case against former Delhi Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bharadwaj for allegedly revealing the identity of a minor sexual assault victim.

According to Delhi Police sources, Bharadwaj allegedly disclosed the victim's identity -- a three-year-old girl sexually assaulted at a school in Janakpuri.

Consequently, the police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against him. The Janakpuri Police are currently investigating the entire matter.

The incident involving the alleged rape of the child within a school campus came to light last month. Responding to the crime, Bharadwaj wrote on the social media platform X: "Today, the youngest 'cockroach' in the country is a mere 3-year-old girl. She was raped at a school in Janakpuri. The accused is a 57-year-old senior official of the school."

Following the incident, he raised serious questions regarding the Delhi Police. According to Bharadwaj, the victim's mother alleged that the local SHO and DCP were pressuring her to suppress the case. The AAP leader had stated that the victim's parents were demanding a re-examination at AIIMS, but the police were unwilling to facilitate it, adding that the young victim had not yet received justice.

He asked, "Why is the police unwilling to conduct a medical examination of the innocent three-year-old at AIIMS? Who is shielding the senior school official and the accused? Under this government, will every victim receive justice only when a massive uproar erupts on social media?"

On May 13, Bharadwaj, along with women councillors, staged a protest outside the Raj Bhavan over the case, demanding action against police officials accused of intimidating the survivor's family. AAP leaders stated they had sought an appointment with the Lieutenant Governor via letter and email regarding the matter.

A delegation, including former mayor Shelly Oberoi and several women councillors, later briefly interacted with officials at the Raj Bhavan, where they were informed that a meeting time would be communicated via email, according to an official statement.

Earlier in January, 2024, an FIR was lodged against Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, for revealing minor rape victim's identity via social media 'X'.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on January 24 had said in the Delhi High Court that he has taken down his tweet allegedly disclosing the identity and details about the minor girl, who was raped and murdered in 2021 in the national capital. Accordingly, the bench, also comprising Justice Manmeet P.S. Arora, disposed of a 2021 'public interest litigation' by Makarand Suresh Mhadlekar, who claims to be a social activist, seeking an FIR in the matter.

The case was related to an incident in which a nine-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered inside a crematorium in 2021 in the Delhi Cantonment area. Following the gruesome incident, Gandhi had met the victim girl's family and posted on his social media handle along with a photograph of the girl with her parents, in which the victim's identity was allegedly disclosed.

Washington, June 2 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Justice Department on Monday said it would comply with a federal court order freezing President Donald Trump's Anti-Weaponization Fund despite "strongly" disagreeing with the ruling, while Senate Democrats launched a legislative effort to permanently block the controversial $1.8 billion programme.

In a statement posted on X, the Department of Justice said the Anti-Weaponization Fund had been created "to make up for the tremendous abuse, harm, and hate unfairly shown to so many people" and was open to anyone "who was so weaponized, targeted, or persecuted, whether they were Democrat, Republican, Conservative, Independent, or otherwise."

"The Department of Justice disagrees strongly with the decision on the Anti-Weaponization Fund put forth by the United States District Court Judge in the Eastern District of Virginia," the department said. It added: "The Department will abide by the Court's ruling."

The statement came after US District Judge Leonie Brinkema temporarily barred the administration from taking any further action related to the fund while a legal challenge proceeds. The court ordered the government not to transfer money to the fund, consider claims or disburse payments pending a June 12 hearing.

Against that backdrop, Senators Elissa Slotkin of Michigan, Adam Schiff of California and Mark Kelly of Arizona introduced the Drain the Slush Fund Act, legislation aimed at dismantling the fund and prohibiting taxpayer money from being used for payments to the President, his associates, convicted criminals or individuals involved in the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack.

"From his ballroom to his son's cryptocurrency, to insider stock trading and selling pardons to the highest bidder — President Trump has used the federal government as a piggybank for himself and his allies," Slotkin said.

"This so-called $1.7 billion anti-weaponization fund is an unprecedented misuse of taxpayer money, and it must be stopped," she added.

Schiff called the initiative "one of the most brazenly corrupt schemes we've ever seen from a U.S. President."

"As Senators who have actually seen their government weaponized against them, we want to make it clear: we will not allow a single payout from this so-called weaponization fund to be paid," he said.

Kelly accused the administration of using public money to benefit political allies.

"Americans are struggling to make ends meet and Trump wants to use taxpayer money to pay off his friends and allies," Kelly said. "The president's slush fund is a $1.7 billion theft in broad daylight to benefit people like the criminals who attacked Capitol police officers on January 6th."

The legislation, among other things, proposes to impose new restrictions on the Justice Department's Settlement Fund by prohibiting settlements or payments arising from claims or lawsuits brought by a sitting President or Vice President.

The fund has drawn mounting criticism on Capitol Hill. Earlier on Monday, Senator Alex Padilla and other Democratic members of the Senate Judiciary Committee called on the Justice Department's Inspector General to launch an immediate investigation into what they described as a "slush fund" representing "waste, fraud, and abuse of an unprecedented magnitude."

In their letter, the senators argued that "these tax dollars are set to go to whomever President Trump pleases" and expressed concern about the fund's structure, oversight and eligibility requirements.

The controversy stems from a Justice Department settlement announced last month in connection with Trump's lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service. The administration said the fund was intended to compensate people who had been unfairly targeted or persecuted by government actions. Critics, including Democrats and some Republicans, questioned whether the programme could benefit Trump's political supporters, including individuals convicted in connection with the January 6 Capitol riot.

The legal battle is expected to continue in federal court later this month.

Amaravati, June 1 (SocialNews.XYZ) The South Coast Railway (SCoR), India’s 18th railway zone, with its headquarters in Visakhapatnam, officially commenced operations on Monday, fulfilling a long-cherished dream of the people of North Coastal Andhra, a region that has long sought dedicated railway administration and infrastructure development.

The setting up of the new zone, which spans Andhra Pradesh and parts of neighbouring Telangana and Tamil Nadu, has finally fulfilled a decades-old aspiration of the people.

Comprising the railway divisions of Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur and Guntakal, the South Coast Railway (SCoR) Zone is expected to improve connectivity and freight transportation in the region through the expansion of railway infrastructure, create new employment opportunities and ensure balanced regional development.

The SCoR has been formed through the reorganisation of parts of the erstwhile South Central Railway (SCR) and East Coast Railway (ECoR) zones.

With 385 railway stations under its network, the South Coast Railway Zone will have 62,000 staff members and annual revenue of approximately Rs 15,500 crore. During the operational season, it is expected to handle more than 500 passenger trains and 800 goods trains.

The new zone is also expected to improve cargo movement and multimodal logistics as it connects major ports such as Visakhapatnam, Gangavaram, Krishnapatnam, Kakinada and the upcoming Mulapeta Port.

The Centre on May 5 issued a gazette notification establishing the South Coast Railway Zone.

Guntakal, Guntur and Vijayawada, which were divisions of the South Central Railway, have been reorganised and made part of the new railway zone. The truncated Waltair Division of the East Coast Railway has been renamed the Visakhapatnam Division and reorganised.

The official commencement of operations of the South Coast Railway Zone brought cheer to people across the region. Leaders cutting across party lines hailed the development and described it as a historic milestone for Andhra Pradesh in general and North Coastal Andhra in particular.

Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu, one of the prominent leaders from the region, visited various railway stations in Srikakulam district along with local MLAs on Monday to celebrate the occasion.

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader shared the joy with local residents at meetings organised on railway platforms.

“The commencement of the South Coast Railway Zone is an emotional and long-cherished dream fulfilled for the people of Andhra Pradesh, especially Uttarandhra,” he had earlier posted on X.

“Today was a truly special moment as I witnessed the welcome plaque of the South Coast Railway Zone along the tracks near Ichchapuram, symbolising the beginning of a new chapter in our region's development journey. On this historic occasion, I also planted saplings near the welcome board, marking this milestone,” he said.

Ram Mohan Naidu’s uncle and State Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu believes that the South Coast Railway Zone will transform the transportation landscape of North Andhra and pave the way for new employment opportunities.

At the time of the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014, the then Congress-led UPA government had promised a new railway zone with Visakhapatnam as its headquarters.

However, it was only in 2019 that the Central government announced the creation of the new zone and a Detailed Project Report (DPR) was prepared.

Work relating to the administrative aspects of the new zone was expedited only after the N. Chandrababu Naidu-led NDA government assumed office in the state in 2024.

In January 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the construction of the South Coast Railway Zonal Headquarters in Visakhapatnam at a cost of Rs 149 crore.

The headquarters have been temporarily established at the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) office.

In June 2025, the Centre appointed Sandeep Mathur as the General Manager of the South Coast Railway Zone.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, during his visit to Visakhapatnam in April, reviewed the operations of the South Coast Railway Zone along with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

According to state BJP President PVN Madhav, who hails from Visakhapatnam, the people's movement for a separate railway zone began in the 1980s.

The former MLC recalled that during his college days, he actively participated in agitations demanding a separate railway zone with Visakhapatnam as its headquarters.

On the occasion of the inauguration of the zone, he said that over the years BJP workers, public representatives, railway employees' associations and various people's organisations had relentlessly fought for this aspiration.

Madhav recalled that as part of the Joint Action Committee (JAC), comprising the BJP and other political parties, they submitted multiple representations to successive Railway Ministers and Central governments.

A massive Rail Roko agitation was organised by the BJP at Visakhapatnam Railway Station on March 20, 2010.

“The roots of this demand go back several decades. When the South Central Railway Zone was formed, most Telugu-speaking regions were shifted from Southern Railway headquartered in Chennai. However, the strategically important Waltair Division remained under the South Eastern Railway headquartered in Kolkata. Despite repeated representations, issues such as inadequate railway infrastructure, limited employment opportunities, delays in introducing new trains and overcrowded services remained unresolved,” he said.

“In 1997, the Congress-supported United Front government laid the foundation for the East Coast Railway Zone headquartered in Bhubaneswar, and the Waltair Division was subsequently brought under it.

“However, concerns regarding neglect of Andhra Pradesh's interests, discrimination in recruitment opportunities and inadequate attention to passenger and employee welfare further strengthened the demand for a separate railway zone headquartered in Visakhapatnam,” he said.

He believes that the South Coast Railway Zone will significantly improve railway logistics, freight movement, industrial connectivity, employment generation and passenger services.

It will serve as a catalyst for the economic transformation of North Coastal Andhra and further strengthen Andhra Pradesh's contribution to India's growth story.

Hyderabad, June 1 (SocialNews.XYZ) In light of the meteorological department's indications that drought conditions will persist due to the El Nino effect, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday directed officials to ensure that Telangana receives its share of Krishna and Godavari waters.

He cautioned officials that if the upper riparian states follow a policy of releasing water only after their dams are full, it will cause problems for Telangana.

In the context of the rainy season and the beginning of agricultural activity, the Chief Minister reviewed advance action measures to be taken at a high-level meeting in Dr B.R. Ambedkar State Secretariat.

As the drought situation is also likely to prevail in Maharashtra and Karnataka, the Chief Minister directed irrigation department officials to proactively discuss with officials of those states and formulate appropriate action plans to ensure that Telangana receives its pro-rata share of inter-state waters.

He directed Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao to discuss with Maharashtra officials the issue of the state utilising 100 per cent of the water from the Koyna Dam for hydropower generation and whether Telangana can take that entire water and supply the required electricity to them.

The Chief Minister reminded that thousands of TMC of water from the Godavari River flows wastefully into the sea every year, and that floods also arrive in a very short time. In this context, he suggested formulating a clear policy on how to divert floods coming from both the Godavari and Pranahita sides

He directed that repairs to the gates of all dams in the state be undertaken on a war footing.

The CM questioned officials for details on dam maintenance. He recalled the troubles that arose in the Kadam Project in the past. Officials from the finance department informed that Rs 300 crores have already been released for gate repairs and maintenance.

He ordered that funds be released immediately, no matter how much is required. CM Revanth Reddy warned that if any issues arise regarding dams anywhere during this rainy season, strict action will be taken against the officials.

The Chief Minister directed agriculture department officials to make decisions on crop sowing in accordance with the meteorological department estimates and reports. He said awareness should be created among farmers through Rythu Vedikas on crop shifting, crop diversification, low-water-consuming crops, and varieties.

He said videos prepared with AI technology on this matter should be screened. He directed that broadcasts related to this be arranged on TV channels as well. He said appropriate care should also be taken in the supply of necessary seeds and fertilisers along with crop sowing.

The Chief Minister questioned officials about the implementation details of the assurances given during his field-level visits to Kamareddy, Khammam, and Warangal districts during last year's floods.

The Chief Minister suggested taking precautions in the three municipal corporations under the Greater Hyderabad limits to prevent floodwater from stagnating on roads during the rainy season. He recalled that it was previously decided to identify 141 areas prone to water stagnation and construct water harvesting wells there, and asked for details on their progress.

He directed Senior Official Jayesh Ranjan to take up pending works on a war footing and review their progress from time to time. The Chief Minister directed officials to formulate an appropriate action plan from now on to ensure that, even if drought conditions persist, there are no drinking water issues in Hyderabad city or any region of the state.

Hyderabad, June 1 (SocialNews.XYZ) Telangana Police have denied permission for Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena leader Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Telangana Nava Nirmana Sankalpa Sabha’, planned to be held on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day in Hyderabad on Tuesday, citing a ‘substantial threat’ to the law-and-order situation.

CH. Srinivas, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Serilingampally Zone, Cyberabad Commissionerate, communicated to Talluri Ram, General Secretary of Jana Sena Party, on Monday that the request for permission to conduct the proposed meeting was rejected to ensure law and order, public peace, and tranquillity.

The Jana Sena, headed by actor-politician Pawan Kalyan, had sought permission for a meeting at Sandhya Convention, Gachibowli, on June 2 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., with an expected participation of about 2,000 persons.

The DCP stated that following recent alleged remarks by Prof. K. Nageshwar on the Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister’s meeting with the Union Home Minister and subsequent registration of criminal cases against Prof. Nageshwar in Andhra Pradesh, tensions and animosities escalated across Telangana.

He added that recent public statements by certain political leaders from Andhra Pradesh, including Jana Sena, on the matter involving Prof. Nageshwar had hurt the sentiments of the people of Telangana, triggering backlash, counter-protests, and opposition from student bodies and activist groups.

“Given that the proposed meeting coincides with the 12th Telangana Formation Day, there is a high vulnerability of protests, demonstrations, and severe disruptions to vehicular traffic. Under these conditions, holding the above-said meeting is not conducive to maintaining public peace, as it poses a substantial threat to the law-and-order situation in the jurisdiction of Cyberabad Commissionerate,” reads the communication.

The DCP also noted that verification with the management of the proposed venue revealed that no designated parking facility exists.

Meanwhile, Jana Sena said the reasons cited for rejecting permission raised more questions than they answered and appeared more like excuses than genuine concerns. In a statement posted on X, the party asked: “How did the baseless remarks of an analyst and the counterarguments made against those baseless remarks suddenly become a threat to law and order across Telangana? Isn’t that a lame excuse to stop the event?”

The party further said: “So, making baseless allegations is acceptable, but responding to them supposedly triggers tensions? Neither Jana Sena nor Pawan Kalyan garu dragged Telangana into this issue. The real question is: who brought regional sentiments into the debate and why? Why hasn’t the Telangana Government taken any action against those who actually triggered regional sentiments in this discussion? They remained silent then. Why?”

“It is unfortunate that the Telangana Government appears to have acted hastily, citing vague law-and-order concerns and parking issues, while the intention to stop the event had already been conveyed through selective narratives and half-cut videos promoted by certain ministers,” it added.

The Chief Minister was addressing a public meeting at Chamavaram village in Kakinada district after participating in ‘NTR Bharosa pension distribution’ programme.

Citing some recent incidents, Chief Minister Naidu said that while the coalition government was working day and night to uplift the state, the previous rulers continue to perpetuate destruction.

“It is hatching conspiracies and machinations to derail good governance. That is why we refer to the current Opposition as the 'Axe Party',” he claimed.

"They murdered their uncle, Vivekananda Reddy, yet claimed it was a heart attack. It was only after the post-mortem that it was revealed that he had been hacked to death with an axe,” said Chief Minister Naidu.

Chandrababu Naidu stated that the previous rulers failed to fill even a single vacancy of teachers throughout their five-year tenure. After the coalition came to power, despite facing 241 legal cases, it resolved them and successfully filled the teacher vacancies, he said.

He alleged that the previous government announced a 'Job Calendar' only to renege on their promise. He claimed that it was only after the present government returned to power that it released the 'Job Calendar'.

"We have undertaken the process of filling these vacancies in a highly robust and efficient manner. We conducted the selection process through a computerised system. By utilising a pool of 40,000 questions and 25 different sets of question papers, we ensured that no irregularities occurred anywhere in the process. However, the YSRCP, acting out of frustration, is attempting to politicise this issue in order to gain political mileage,” he said.

Naidu accused YSRCP of trying to stir up controversy over this matter and incite unrest within society.

“While touring as the Opposition to offer condolences, they ran over and killed their own party worker, Singayya, with a car, then dumped his body in the bushes before fleeing the scene. They dispatched a priest from Kadapa to stage a drama involving a fake assassination attempt, which they then tried to pin on us. When the priest, Praveen died in an accident while riding his motorcycle, attempts were made to shift the blame for that incident onto us as well. With the aid of CCTV footage, we were able to expose this conspiracy,” alleged the Chief Minister.

He alleged that at Kaustubham Guest House located in the sacred spiritual abode of Tirumala, they attempted to desecrate the holy site by surreptitiously placing liquor bottles there.

“I warn that it is unacceptable to attack and desecrate Hindu temples through malicious conspiracies,” he said.

The Chief Minister alleged that in Kadapa, it was YSRCP members who murdered Pedda Dastagiri over a property dispute but attempted to pin the blame on the TDP.

“In Nandyal, the individual who vandalised the statue of Rajasekhara Reddy was, in fact, a YSRCP activist. Nevertheless, we apprehended the accused within just 20 minutes,” he claimed.

Addressing a press conference, Ponnam Prabhakar recalled the reported remark of Pawan Kalyan that if the people of Telangana cast an eye, the coconut trees of Konaseema will wither away.

He questioned the motive behind the public meeting and claimed that Pawan Kalyan had once stated that if Telangana state is formed, he would stop eating for 11 days.

Stating that people of Telangana have love for Andhra Pradesh, Ponnam Prabhakar made it clear they would not tolerate any insults.

He remarked that Pawan Kalyan has started acting to pollute the atmosphere in Telangana. He alleged that the Jana Sena leader entered into a secret deal with the BJP to speak in a manner that incites hatred in Telangana.

Ponnam Prabhakar also stated that no real son of Telangana would go to a meeting of a person who insulted Telangana.

He asked why ‘Nava Nirmana Sabha’ was not being held in BJP-ruled states like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. “If under the BJP’s direction, you incite hatred and provoke divisions in Telangana, we won't sit quiet,” he said.

In December last year, Telangana’s cinematography minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy had warned that Pawan Kalyan's movies would not be allowed to be released in theatres in Telangana if he failed to apologise over his "insulting" remarks about Telangana.

Pawan Kalyan had reportedly blamed the "evil eye" for "dying" coconut trees in the development of the Konaseema region, known for lush green fields.

The Jana Sena leader, who visited the region to inspect the coconut trees damaged by seawater from a drain, blamed it on "evil eye". He was allegedly referring to the bifurcation of the state.

His remarks had evoked a strong reaction from leaders in Telangana.

At a meeting held to review monsoon preparedness of the various departments, he said farmers should be educated on the cultivation of crops that require minimal water consumption.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also emphasised the need for apprising farmers of the importance of crop rotation and crop diversification.

It was also decided that a letter will be sent to the Central Government requesting that the entire urea output from the Ramagundam Fertilizers Factory be allocated exclusively to Telangana.

The review meeting held at the State Secretariat was attended by officials from the Departments of Agriculture, Irrigation, Urban Development, Panchayat Raj, Health, Home, HYDRAA, Disaster Management, and Fire Services.

Officials from the Meteorological Department delivered a PowerPoint Presentation covering rainfall patterns associated with the Southwest monsoon, the impact of El Niño, and other relevant factors.

CM Revanth Reddy also enquired about the status of maintenance works for irrigation projects. He directed officials to complete the maintenance of project gates and other related works on a war footing.

The Chief Minister ordered the immediate release of funds required for the maintenance of irrigation projects.

He directed that the ₹1,000 crore corpus available with the Disaster Management Department be utilised strictly in accordance with established regulations.

CM Revanth Reddy ordered the immediate release of funds necessary for the repair of damaged roads and the reconstruction of collapsed bridges.

The Chief Minister said officials must respond immediately in the event of any loss of life, property, or livestock during natural disasters.

Operations at the district level must proceed in coordination between the Collector and the Superintendent of Police (SP).

Within the jurisdiction of Core Urban Region Economy (CURE), the Commissioners of the three corporations and the Police Commissioners must work together in coordination.

CM Revanth Reddy said meetings must be held at scheduled intervals to resolve public grievances.

Hyderabad, June 1 (SocialNews.XYZ) Intensifying its crackdown on online betting networks, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Telangana has arrested 11 accused in a pan-India operation, dismantling an illegal betting network linked to Dafabet.

The CID, which conducted operations across New Delhi, Gujarat and Punjab, has also frozen 46 mule bank accounts.

Addressing a press conference, Charu Sinha, Director General, CID, said the investigation revealed that the accused were involved in online betting offences across multiple states.

Data from the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) shows 225 complaints and 73 criminal cases registered against them in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Telangana, indicating a systematic pan-India operation.

The arrests were made in a case registered last year by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) at Karimnagar-II Town Police Station on a complaint lodged by Challa Sai Krishna Reddy, a software engineer from Karimnagar.

He was induced by the promotional campaigns of Dafabet (www.dafabet.com) to participate in online betting. Trusting the platform's representations, he deposited and wagered money over a period spanning January 2024 to January 2025 and suffered a total loss of Rs 9.95 lakh.

The SIT traced the complainant's funds through a network of 46 mule bank accounts spread across eight layers, which were used to collect and route illegal betting proceeds. Forensic analysis of bank transactions, mobile numbers, email IDs, social media profiles and WhatsApp groups revealed a coordinated, multi-state criminal network.

The accused promoted betting on cricket, casino games and the Aviator platform through the Dafabet app. Victims were attracted with promises of easy money, bonuses and high returns. Funds were collected through UPI IDs, QR codes, internet banking and multiple bank accounts controlled by the network. Initial payouts were made strategically to build trust and encourage higher wagers.

The DG said six special teams, each led by a DSP-rank officer, were deployed to New Delhi, Gujarat and Punjab. Despite the accused frequently changing mobile phones, SIM cards and locations to evade detection, sustained surveillance and field operations over two weeks resulted in the arrest of 11 accused persons on May 29. Transit warrants have been obtained and the accused are being brought to CID Police Station, Hyderabad, for production before the Judicial Magistrate of First Class (Special Mobile) PCR Court, Karimnagar.

Those arrested include Manish Singh, 24, and Abhishek Singh, 26, both from Gujarat. Both were organisers who were receiving funds from the app.

Igneshious Dass, 27, Abhishek Wadhva, 27, and Mohd Halim, 24, all from Delhi, allegedly operated mule accounts on a commission basis.

Love Kumar of Patiala, Punjab, and Simarpreeth Singh of Ludhiana, Punjab, allegedly created fake firms and received funds from the app.

Ajith Singh, 27, Vijay Patidar, 25, Yugal Patidar, 24, and Prateek Praveen Bhai, all from Gandhinagar, Gujarat, were allegedly providing technical support to the two main accused.

The police seized three luxury vehicles (BMW, Mercedes and Kia Seltos), eight laptops, two iPads, 26 mobile phones, five passports and Rs 3,21,900 in cash.

Telangana has constituted the SIT under the Director General, CID, to combat illegal online betting and protect citizens from the financial and psychological harm caused by such platforms.

Telangana Police have so far registered 414 cases against various illegal online betting applications across the state.

As many as 108 online betting applications were identified and proposals submitted to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, resulting in their blocking.

The DG said 37 online betting applications have been geo-fenced in coordination with Internet Service Providers (ISPs), restricting their access within Telangana.

She said 25 celebrities and social media influencers were counselled against promoting online betting platforms and encouraged to spread awareness about the associated harms.

All police stations in Telangana are conducting awareness programmes at public gatherings to educate youth and families about the risks of online betting and encourage the reporting of suspicious activities.

Only playback singer Suresh Wadkar showed up to pay his final respects to the departed soul, while both the industries largely remained absent. Her last rites were held at the Pawan Hans crematorium on Monday. She is survived by her daughter, Charu.

The singer was given full state honours as her mortal remains were draped in the Indian tri-colour. The singer reportedly passed away on Sunday at her residence in Lokhandwala due to old age.

Suman Kalyanpur was one of the most respected playback singers in Indian cinema, known for her melodious voice and long career spanning several decades. She was born on January 28, 1937, and rose to prominence in the 1950s and 1960s, recording songs in Hindi, Marathi and several other Indian languages.

She worked with leading composers such as Shankar–Jaikishan, O. P. Nayyar and Kalyanji–Anandji. Her duets with Mohammed Rafi became especially popular, producing memorable songs that remain cherished by music lovers.

She saw a meteoric rise after the fallout between the fellow old guards of Indian music, Lata Mangeshkar and Mohammed Rafi.

Her voice was often noted for its sweetness, clarity and emotional depth. Despite working during the golden era of playback singing alongside legendary contemporaries, she carved out a distinct identity through her versatility and impeccable singing style. She recorded songs in several languages, including Hindi, Marathi, Assamese, Kannada, and Bengali. She also sang devotional songs, ghazals. Her contributions continue to be celebrated by admirers of classic Indian film music.

I still vividly remember my college days when I actively participated in agitations demanding a separate Railway Zone with Visakhapatnam as its headquarters. Over the years, BJP Karyakartas, public representatives, railway employees' associations, and various people's organisations relentlessly fought for this aspiration through protests, awareness campaigns, representations, and public movements,” he posted on ‘X’.

The BJP leader stated that even the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act only provided for examining the feasibility of establishing a Railway Zone with Visakhapatnam as its headquarters.

He said the efforts finally bore fruit when the South Coast Railway Zone was announced in 2019.

Suman Kalyanpu passed away at her residence in Mumbai at the age of 89 due to age-related health issues. Her final rites are scheduled to be held on June 1 in Mumbai.

The legendary singer was born as Suman Hemmadi on January 28, 1937.

Often regarded as a contemporary who stood at par with Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle, Kalyanpur built a distinguished career spanning more than seven decades. Her voice was frequently compared to Lata Mangeshkar's because of its striking similarity.

Among her most celebrated songs are 'Na Tum Hamein Jano', 'Aaj Kal Tere Mere Pyaar Ke Charche', 'Na Na Karte Pyar', 'Mera Pyar Bhi Tu Hai', 'Dil Ek Mandir Hai', 'Behena Ne Bhai Ki Kalai Pe' and many acclaimed Marathi melodies. She recorded thousands of songs across Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati and other Indian languages.

Kalyanpur was conferred the Padma Bhushan in 2023 in recognition of her contribution to Indian music.

Earlier in the day, Union Road Transportation and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari also expressed grief over the passing of the veteran singer.

Taking to X, Gadkari wrote, "The news of the passing of Padma Bhushan Suman Kalyanpur, the popular, legendary, and senior playback singer in the Indian music world, is extremely heartbreaking. My heartfelt tribute to her. Suman Kalyanpur's departure is a great loss to the Indian music world. In Marathi, Hindi, and many other languages, she immortalised thousands of songs with her voice."

Recalling Kalyanpur's popular Marathi songs like 'Ketakichya Bani Tithe', 'Sang Kadhi Kalnar Tula', 'Nimbonyachya Jhadamaghe', Gadkari said, "Her unparalleled contribution to the Indian music field is immense. After receiving the visiting President, MoS Singh stated on X, "Honoured to welcome President H.E. Min Aung Hlaing of Myanmar on his arrival in Delhi. His visit underscores the enduring civilisational, cultural and people-to-people ties between India and Myanmar. Earlier in the day, the Myanmar President began his five-day visit to India from Gaya in Bihar.

"The visit reflects the strong spiritual, historical and people-to-people ties that bind our two countries and the depth of our ongoing cooperation," MEA said upon his arrival in Gaya.

This is President U Min Aung Hlaing's first visit to India after assuming office. He is also scheduled to participate in a business forum. For his visit, he is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising several cabinet ministers, senior officials and business leaders.

On June 2, the visiting President will travel to Mumbai for business and industry interactions and site visits.
