Telangana American Telugu Association (T.A.T.A) organized a Volleyball-2019 tournament on Saturday, July 13 from 8.00 am to 7.30 pm at Core Volleyball (Indoor) Hillsborough, NJ.

There is an overwhelming response to the tournament; there are 20 teams over 200 players played in various courts throughout the day in an indoor professional court.

T.A.T.A took care of every aspect of the tournament including registration, breakfast, and beverages for participating teams and attendees of the entire family members and supporters of around 500 people who participated throughout the day.

This mega tournament was organized by T.A.T.A. NJ team under the guidance & support of Dr. Pailla Malla Reddy (Advisory Council Chair) and Dr. Mohan Patalolla (AC member) and Srinivas Ganagoni (General Secretary).

The event was initiated and planned by Vijay Bhasker Kalal (Volleyball tournament Coordinator) and Kiran Duddagi (NJ RVP) who worked hard on identifying the venue, recruiting the teams, defining rules and executing the tournament flawlessly. Vikram Jangam ( President) of the T.A.T.A. congratulated the entire NJ team for their careful planning flawless execution of the tournament.

The tournament was inaugurated by Srinivas Ganagoni (General Secretary) by welcoming all the teams with a US and Indian national anthem along with all the players in a professional atmosphere in presence of a wider audience. He also explained the motto of Telangana American Telugu Association and the reason for organizing such sports events in North America.

The Chief Guest of the event Ajay Patil, Edison Township Council Vice President met with all the team captains and participated in the award ceremony and encouraged the youth to participate in such events and thanked T.A.T.A for conducting such a wonderful sports tournament, he was surprised to see such a great turn out and the professional indoor stadiums in the USA and playing Volleyball in a professional way, he reminded of his childhood days in India.

Sudhakar Uppala (TFAS President) met with all the volleyball participants and cheered for their victory. Sarath Veta ( Manabadi Global VP) who was thought to serve watermelons to all the players, it became a special addition to the thirsty players during the play, and all the players enjoyed it. He appreciated T.A.T.A efforts organizing the excellent tournament in NJ.

PSC Rockers (Anoop Kumar), NJ Warriors (Srujan Sasa), Surrisers (MO Narala), Terminators USA (Ashok Vallepu), Springside (Rajesh Ariga), SJ Smashers (Sandeep Dhulipalla), Manalapan Spykers (Taati Mannem), Monroe Royals (Lokesh), Avengers (Ashok Reddy), Chesterfield Friends (Srinivas Yadlapalli), FALCONS (Sai Vijay), Caesars (Rajinikanth Ramamoorthy), BULLDOGS (Ashwin Yadav), Zoo Wee Mama (Johann), SRI (Sridhar Chandra), Royal Arbors (Srikanth Kuntamukkala), Edison Warriors (Ranjith Vangur), Core Volleyball Club (Suresh), T1 Team (Srini) and Telugu Radio (Vilas Jambula).

Out of 20 teams the following 2 teams came as Winners and runners of the tournament, who got cash prizes along with the marvelous trophies to each player.

T.A.T.A Volleyball tournaments have always been inspirational ground for young talented teams every year. The T.A.TA. NJ Core team members Mohan Patalolla, Srinivas Ganagoni, Sreekanth Akkapalli, Shravan Nagapuri, Ganagadhar Uppala, Ram Mohan Chinala, Mahender Narala, Kiran Duddagi, Vijay Bhasker Kalal and New York Life, sponsored the event and helped to make the event a grand success. Ravi Moluguri sponsored the delicious dinner for all.

The remaining T.A.T.A. NJ team consists of Satish Mekala (BOD), Shiva Reddy (RVP), Naveen Yelamandla (RC), Narender Reddy (RC), Venu Sunkari (RC) and Gopi Vutkuri (RC) volunteered and help make the event grand success.

All the players were thankful to T.A.T.A organization and volunteers for providing them with the opportunity to play in the nicely coordinated tournament in a professional Volleyball indoor courts.

They appreciated the flawless arrangements made including Breakfast, Lunch, delicious Dinner and beverages, bananas through the day. T.A.T.A has organized the Volleyball tournament to increase awareness among Telugu people; create opportunities to network and interact among Telugus and also promote healthy living by adding a sport in their daily lifestyle.

T.A.T.A has been very active in the Telugu community with its activities to empower the Telugu people and create opportunities for the betterment of Telugu people.

The US Citizenship and Immigration department has recently revealed the statistics on the number of visas rejected in the fiscal year 2018 and for which organization employees they have refused to extend or approve the visas. The highest number of H1-B visas were raised by Infosys and Cognizant, in which Cognizant raised more than that of the Infosys.

Out of all visa requests raised by Cognizant, the USCIS rejected 3,548 petitions and this remains the highest rejection number for the year 2018. US Immigration rejected 2,042 visa requests of Infosys and 1,744 of TCS. Only 6 Indian companies (TCS, Infosys, Wipro, CTS, Tech Mahindra and HCL) in a total of 30 Companies raised foreign worker visa in the USA, and only 16 percent of total visa requests raised by these 6 companies got approved, i e just 2,145 approvals.

The number of H-1B visas approved by the US govt for these 6 companies together is still less than the total number of visas approved for Amazon company. Though the 6 companies refused to comment on high rejection rate of visas, expert opine this obstructs the IT development eventually.

Candlelight Vigil held in Sacramento California to pay honor to the Pulwama terrorist attack victims (Photo:SocialNews.XYZ)

Members of the Indian community gathered at local Lakshmi Narayan Mandir in Sacramento, California to peacefully protest the attack and to show solidarity with families who lost their members in the attack. This Vigil event began with Indian & US national anthems. Sacramento local singers Namrata Kemchandani and Meera Ramakrishnan sang Indian Patriotic songs and Bhajans. Pictures of martyred soldiers & Patriotic poster signs which were made by Volunteers were displayed in the hall.

One of the guest speaker Sue Frost, Sacramento County Supervisor said, “tonight I attended a Candlelight Vigil sponsored by the Indian Association of Sacramento - and stood in solidarity with my fellow Sacramento Region Citizens and TOGETHER WE RECITED A PLEDGE that ended with...’We, the citizens of Sacramento, hereby pledge that we denounce the terror in any format, in any part of the world’. It was a beautiful tribute to the honor the soldiers in the Pulwama terrorist attack by the Jaish-e-Mohammed group, in which over 44 CRPF personnel were killed and many others injured. Honestly... Words don't come close to expressing the sorrow. Tonight, I am reminded of how lucky I am to live in America, the land of freedom and opportunity. I am grateful that I feel safe in my daily life. I pray for our friends in Pulwama”.

Another guest speaker Susan McKee, OCA Board of Director called for unitedly standing against terror, and conveyed words of comfort and support for the martyrs, their families & local Indian community.

ATA, American Telugu Association [ATA], a 28-year-old Telugu Organization serving the interests of burgeoning Telugu Community in the USA elected Parmesh Bheemreddy as its new President at the board meeting attended by a large number of ATA Trustees, Executive Board members, and other supporters.

Upon being elected, Mr.Parmesh Bheemreddy was promptly sworn in as the President on January 19th at the board meeting held in Las Vegas.

Born in Pothireddypadu village of Nagarkurnool district of Telangana Mr.Bheemreddy came to the US on a student visa to pursue higher education in Computer Science. Being a software professional himself, established a firm and helped many students and professionals from India to settle down in the US. Married to a cardiologist Sarita, Bheemreddy is a well-known Community Volunteer, co-founder of Palamuru NRI forum and conducted various charity activities across the district. An avid community activist, Mr.Bheemreddy has been an integral part of ATA since Inception and served in various positions like Secretary for the 12th Convention and as a Convener for the Philadelphia Conference in 2014.

ATA board was sworn in on the occasion as well, raising the Board of Trustees count from 27 to 31. Mr.Bhuvanesh Boojala from DC Metropolitan area was elected unanimously as the President-Elect.

ATA elected Venu Sankineni as Secretary, Sharath Vemula as Joint Secretary, Ravi Patlola as Treasurer and Arvind Muppidi as Joint Treasurer. ATA Advisory Chair Hanmanth Reddy garu congratulated the new board and wished them luck in its future endeavors.

Presiding over the board meeting, the new president not only vowed to preserve and strengthen the Telugu community across North America but also promised to further promote the literary, cultural, social, educational and rich cultural values of the community strictly abiding by the constitution of ATA.

Unveiling his vision, Mr.Bheemreddy quoted that ATA under his leadership will include focus areas like immigration, SAT Training, exchange student onboarding procedures, Medical and Dental camps for Senior Citizens and Visitors, Matrimonial and Emergency Services.

Mr.Bheemreddy was ecstatic to announce that the new ATA Foundation Scholarship program will award 10 scholarships to meritorious students of economically backward classes of $1000 each.

Mr.Bheemreddy thanked the outgoing President Karunakar Asireddy, EC and board for its outstanding contribution to ATA and expanding the organization to new areas like Nashville and Boston areas.

A glittering ceremony marked the board meeting of Telangana American Telugu Association in Aria Convention Center, Las Vegas, NV where over 150 members converged the board meeting.

The leadership of Telangana American Telugu Association oversaw the logistics, Dr. Pailla Malla Reddy the Pharma giant from New York chaired the board meeting of Telangana American Telugu Association.

Dr. Pailla Malla Reddy Chair of Advisory Council announced the new board and Executive Committee. He welcomed the members and thanked them for being part of the board meeting. He emphasized that the Telangana American Telugu Association focus towards community service, and increasing the membership for this year. He welcomed the young leadership into TATA and encouraged them to reach out to all corners of North America and invite them to become members of TATA. He requested the members to selflessly work as a team and attain the set goals and objectives of Telangana American Telugu Association.

The outgoing President Dr. Haranath Policherla felt highly contented and explained all the achievements during his tenure. The members congratulated Dr. Haranath Policherla for his selfless service towards the organization.

Dr. Pailla Malla Reddy appointed the following as Board of Directors (BODs) and the oath ceremony was administered by Dr. Mohan Patalolla, Advisory Council member.

Vikram Jangam took charge of the affairs as president of Telugu American Telugu Association and addressed the board members, Vikram Jangam in his maiden speech as President declared that he will work selflessly and uphold values of ethics and the constitution. He laid out the planned activities for the upcoming 2 years and requested all members to support his presidency.

He thanked Chair Dr. Malla Reddy Pailla, Advisory Council members, and others for resting trust on him and letting him spearhead the organization. He outlined the below objectives

• Telangana American Telugu Association community outreach for Telangana and Telugu families in North America,

• Promoting youth by involving them in Telangana American Telugu Association activities,

• Inducting members of over 5000 in North America,

• Provide support to mainstream people in North America

• Telangana American Telugu Association Seva Days to be held biennially in the state of Telangana.

Srinivas Ganagoni, General Secretary, in his opening remarks, said the board should work as a team and plan Community Service events across North America and also focus on increasing the membership.

The board later appointed Standing Committee Chairs, Regional Vice-Presidents and Regional Coordinators. Many directors and Telangana American Telugu Association members occasioned their views unequivocally to strengthen Telangana American Telugu Association and to ensure that Telangana American Telugu Association works for the cause of Telangana and Telugu community in North America and the Telugu states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The meeting was later adjourned by President Vikram Jangam.

London, July 15 (IANS) British Prime Minister Theresa May on Sunday said that US President Donald Trump asked her to sue the European Union (EU) rather than negotiate over Brexit.

The visiting US President said on Friday at a joint press conference that he had given her a "suggestion" but she had found it too "brutal".

Asked about what the suggestion was during a BBC interview on Sunday, she replied: "He told me I should sue the EU - not go into negotiations."

"Interestingly what the President also said at that press conference was 'don't walk away'.

"Don't walk away from those negotiations because then you'll be stuck. So I want us to be able to sit down to negotiate the best deal for Britain," she told the BBC.

May also defended her blueprint that was issued on July 12 for Brexit and urged her critics to back it.

She said it would allow the UK to strike trade deals with other nations, end free movement of people and the jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice.

Before the blueprint was published, Brexit Secretary David Davis and Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson resigned, saying it would not deliver the Brexit people had voted for in the 2016 EU referendum.

My visit to Kuwait has been memorable for several reasons. Certainly because of the launch of a new chapter of Life Again, which means that our ability to reach our efforts further has been extended in a new part of the world, but hugely so because of the love that has been showered upon us from both, our fellow countrymen and the Kuwaiti people. Washington, Feb 25 (PTI) The Trump administration has dismissed as "absurd" any correlation between US President Donald Trump's controversial remarks on immigrants and the Kansas shooting incident that resulted in the "tragic" death of an Indian engineer.

"Obviously, any loss of life is tragic, but I'm not going to get into, like, to suggest that there's any correlation I think is a bit absurd. So I'm not going to go any further than that," White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer, told reporters.

Spicer was responding to a question on the shooting incident in Kansas on Wednesday night in which 32-year-old Indian engineer Srinivas Kuchibhotla was killed and another Indian man and an American were injured after an American Navy veteran yelling "get out of my country" and "terrorist" opened fire on them at a bar in an apparent racially motivated hate crime.

"What the President's response to it was, but also if there's any concern that some of the rhetoric that the President or -- that generally has been out here recently could have contributed in any way to that or stepped up violence?" he was asked.

Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy in the US has issued a demarche to the State Department on the killing of an Indian engineer and called for a speedier investigation.

The Indian Embassy also asked that it be kept informed on the investigation.

"Government of India has taken up the matter with the US authorities to express our deep concern and have asked for speedy investigation. US Government while condemning the attack, have assured us that they are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter," Indian Embassy spokesman Pratik Mathur said in a separate statement earlier in the day.

The Indian Consulate in Houston is also in close contact with the family of the deceased.

"In their hour of grief, we are providing all help and assistance to the bereaved family. Arrangements are being made to transport his mortal remains to India," he said.

"Government officials have also met with the injured victim- Alok Madasani and are ensuring his well-being," Mathur said in his statement.

The shooting incident comes at a time when hate crimes and acts of bigotry have risen notably in America after President Donald Trump came to power.

Trump had previously issued an executive order to suspend the arrival of all refugees for at least 120 days, Syrian refugees indefinitely, and barring citizens from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen for 90 days.

Houston, Feb 25 (PTI) The wife of Indian engineer Srinivas Kuchibhotla, who was shot dead in an apparent hate crime by a Navy veteran at a bar in Olathe city, has said that she had her doubts about staying in the US but was assured by her husband that "good things happen in America"

Speaking at a news conference organised by GPS-maker Garmin where Srinivas worked, Sunayana Dumala?said reports of bias in the US make minorities afraid as she questioned "do we belong here"

She said she now wonders what will the US government do to stop hate crimes against minorities

Dumala said she was concerned about shootings incidents in America and had doubted whether they should stay in the country, but her husband had assured her saying that "good things happen in America."

Consul General of India in Houston Anupam Ray is supervising the current situation and providing all possible help for the grieving family and the community in Olathe area of Kansas

"Immediately when the incident occurred, Consulate rushed Deputy Consul R D Joshi and Vice Consul H Singh to Kansas to be with the family of Srinivas at this trying moment," Ray told PTI

Ever since, they have been with the family of Srinivas and have assured Sunayna of all possible support and help at this grieving moment, he said

Consul Joshi also met the shocked and frightened Indian community in Olathe and Alok Madasani injured in the shooting on Wednesday night

Madasani is now stable and has been discharged from the hospital

A third person, an American man identified as Ian Grillot, 24, who tried to intervene also received injuries in the firing at Austins Bar and Grill in Olathe in Kansas City in the US state of Missouri

A University of Kansas Hospital spokeswoman said he is in fair condition

The incident evoked outrage from in the US and India with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj expressing shock over the incident

"I am shocked at the shooting incident in Kansas in which Srinivas Kuchibhotla has been killed. My heartfelt condolences to bereaved family," she said in a tweet on Thursday

The shooter, Adam Purinton, reportedly got into an argument with the victims in the terms of racism, and shouted "get out of my country", "terrorist" before shooting them

He reportedly provoked them into an argument asking about their presence and work in his country, and how they are better than him. .

APTA New England Team led by Sri Nataraju Elluri and APTA President Sri Gopala Gudapati facilitated famous Boston entrepreneur Sri Subbu Kota and famous Endowed Chair (Highest honor) in Neurology, Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Dr. Naga Gopal Venna. Sri Satyanarayana Chandana introduced both to all APTA guests.
