New York, Sep 12 (SocialNews.XYZ) Chinese President Xi Jingping's decision to stay away from the G20 New Delhi summit may have been intended to deny Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi his finest moment but he with US and European leaders cleverly figured out how to counter China effectively on the global stage, Time Magazine said in its latest issue hitting the stands. 

Fellow G20 nations from Brazil to South Africa have hailed India’s success in drafting the final New Delhi declaration that remained as elusive as ever just days before world leaders gathered in the Indian capital. The most difficult part for the G20 presidency led by India was not just finding consensus on Russia's war in Ukraine, but how to handle an equally challenging issue of elevating the African Union as a full G20 member and taking action on issues like climate change and debt restructuring , top priorities of emerging markets.

The final outcome may have angered Ukraine, which was not invited to the summit but was in Bali last year, and saw the compromise on war language as weaker than what leaders produced just a year earlier on the Indonesian island resort, Time said.

For the US and its allies, any criticism of the joint communique which on substance was similar to Bali but little impact on the ground is a small price to pay for giving Modi a win that bolsters India's status as a rising power capable of blunting China's global influence, a host of writers at the Time magazine said in the special feature on Delhi's G20 summit. 

US President Joe Biden saw in India his administration's best hope of isolating China and Russia -- and providing a booster shot to the US-led world order. 

The result showed that Washington is finally learning the language of the so-called Global South, with India as its principle guide, media reports said.

Some commentators point to the watered-down language on Russia-Ukraine as a weakness leading to the sign of Western ‘climb-down', said Milan Vaishnav, director of the South Asia Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. 
"But there's another way of looking at it: The West is also invested in making sure India gets a win. A lack of consensus would have been a huge disappointment for India."

G20's summit dynamics were best illustrated by US President Joe Biden's late night meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence where critical issues were hammered out in advance. 

"If there was a moment that illustrated the summit dynamics, it was Biden's meeting on Saturday to discuss White House-led efforts to deliver more financing to developing nations."

Biden has been championing the cause of broad basing World Banks finance with increased contributions from member countries to enable the multilateral institution to bail out developing countries in peril which received China's loans under coercive practices. 

US has pledged additional funding to the tune of $18.5 billion for this purpose to the World Bank.

Biden was pictured with the Indian-American President of the World Bank Ajay Banga and Indian Prime Minister Narendra  Modi, Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa -- key members of the BRICS grouping, minus China and Russia. 

That bloc expanded earlier this month, posing a challenge for the Group of Seven advanced economies, reports said.

New Delhi, Sep 11 (SocialNews.XYZ) The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Monday said that they provided Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) coverage to all the venues and hotels where the delegates were scheduled to stay during the G20 Summit event.

The NDRF deployed approximately 600 well-trained rescuers in eleven teams equipped with the latest CBRN equipment. Additionally, four state-of-the-art Hazmat vehicles, recently manufactured by Bharat Electronics Limited in Pune and equipped with the latest gadgets for chemical and radiation detection and assessment, were also stationed at strategic locations to counter any potential CBRN threats.

"In the lead-up to the event, the NDRF, in coordination with the NDMA and other stakeholders including DAE and DRDO, conducted various sensitization training programs for the rescuers, Delhi Police, NSG, medical officers, ambulance staff from hospitals, security officials, event managers, and hotel staff to brief them on likely threat scenarios and their roles as first responders," it said.

Furthermore, the training culminated in a tabletop exercise and mock exercise at different venues involving all stakeholders. Special Emergency Operations Control Centers were established, and VSAT-mounted communication vehicles were placed at vantage points to monitor the situation 24x7. The comprehensive deployment was meticulously planned in close coordination with stakeholders and effectively implemented, resulting in the successful conduct of the event.

New Delhi, Sep 11 (SocialNews.XYZ) US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has denied that the joint statement adopted at the recently-concluded G20 leaders summit in New Delhi has not "explicitly" condemned Russia’s actions in Ukraine, saying all "stood up very clearly" for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He also said that Ukrainians would be open to a negotiated settlement to the conflict but on "just and durable terms" in connection with their sovereignty and territorial integrity.

"Well, the leaders here all stood up very clearly, including in the statement, for Ukraine’s sovereignty, for its territorial integrity.  I think the statement’s a very strong one.  And what I heard in the room as well makes very clear that virtually every member of the G20 – perhaps minus one – is intent on making sure that there is a just and durable end to this Russian aggression.  And leader after leader in the room made clear that, for the rest of the world too, the consequences of what Russia has done are having a terrible, terrible impact..," he said in an interview to ABC before leaving New Delhi, as per the US State Department.

Blinken, who was in Kiev before flying to India, said that he found both "President (Volodymyr) Zelenskyy and every Ukrainian that I met – whether it was folks in the government or whether it was many other Ukrainians that we had a chance to engage with over the course of two days – incredibly resilient, incredibly courageous, incredibly resolute".  

"And ultimately, that’s really what’s at the heart of this and the reason that I remain very confident in Ukraine’s ultimate success, which is that they’re fighting for their country, for their future, for their freedom..," he said

"Now, where exactly this settles, where lines are drawn, that is going to be up to Ukrainians.  But I’ve found a strong determination to continue to work to get their territory back that’s been seized by Russia," he said.

Asked if the Ukrainians were ready to negotiate, the US Secretary of State said that "it takes two to tango".

"And thus far, we see no indication that (Russian President) Vladimir Putin has any interest in meaningful diplomacy.  If he does, I think the Ukrainians will be the first to engage, and we’ll be right behind them.  Everyone wants this war to end, but it has to end on just terms and on durable terms that reflect Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity," he stressed.

"This diplomatic triumph makes it all the more a pity that the government does not bring the same attitude of conciliation and co-operation to bear in its domestic dealings. The failure to invite the Leader of the Opposition (in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge), and indeed any Opposition MP, to any of the G20 events, receptions, dinner etc underscores my point.

Dias was contacted by the US Embassy in Delhi, with a request that President Biden wished to hold a private mass while in the country's capital.

He said was gifted memorabilia by the US President, which has number 261st encrypted on it. Dias said that it was a special moment for him as he was chosen to pray with the US President.

Biden arrived in Delhi on Friday and on Sunday, he left for Vietnam.

New Delhi, Sep 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday met Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva at the sidelines of the G20 summit, during which the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the comprehensive reform of the UN Security Council (UNSC) including its expansion in the permanent and non-permanent categories.

They emphasised on increased representation of developing countries in both, to improve its efficiency, effectiveness, representativeness, and legitimacy in order to better meet contemporary challenges in international peace and security, according to a joint statement issued the meeting.

Modi and Lula, as the Brazilian leader is popularly known, met hours after India formally handed over the G20 presidency to Brazil at the closing ceremony of the Delhi summit.

Both the leaders reiterated their mutual support for their countries’ permanent membership in an expanded UNSC. They stated that Brazil and India will continue to work closely together in the framework of G-4 and the L.69. The two leaders also agreed on having regular bilateral coordination meetings on Security Council Reform.

Both Modi and Lula expressed disappointment at the paralysis created at the Inter-Governmental Negotiations on UN Security Council reform, which have not produced tangible progress.

They agreed that time has come to move towards a result-oriented process that aims to achieve concrete outcomes in a fixed time frame, the statement said.

Marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Brazil and India, celebrated in 2023, both leaders emphasised that bilateral ties have flourished based on common values and shared objectives, including the pursuit of peace, cooperation, and sustainable development.

They reaffirmed their commitment to bolstering the Brazil-India Strategic Partnership and to sustaining their distinctive roles in global affairs. Lula congratulated Modi for India's successful G20 presidency and pledged to collaborate closely with India during Brazil's G20 tenure, commencing in December 2023.

Both leaders welcomed the consecutive presidencies of developing countries in the G20, which elevates the Global South's influence in world governance. They noted with satisfaction the formation of a G20 troika comprising the three IBSA countries during Brazil's presidency.

Both sides expressed satisfaction at the progress achieved under various institutional dialogue mechanisms. PM Modi welcomed President Lula's announcement of Brazil´s support to the Indian candidature for non-permanent seat of the UNSC for the 2028-2029 term.

Both leaders acknowledged the urgency of a fair and equitable energy transition. They noted the vital role of biofuels and flex-fuel vehicles in decarbonising the transport sector, especially in developing nations. The two commended bilateral initiatives in bioenergy, involving both governmental and private sectors, and celebrated the establishment during India's G20 presidency of the Global Biofuels Alliance, of which both countries are founding members.

Both leaders recognised that climate change represents one of the greatest challenges of our time that needs to be addressed in the context of sustainable development and of efforts to eradicate poverty and hunger. The two countries commit to broadening, deepening and diversifying their bilateral cooperation on climate, as well as their joint efforts towards a strengthened global governance under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), its Kyoto Protocol and its Paris Agreement, said the statement.

They also pledge to work together to ensure that the UNFCCC multilateral process from COP28 to COP30 paves the way for a course-correction on climate, while uniting the international community around the ultimate objective of the Convention and the goals of its Paris Agreement, in the light of equity and the best available science, taking into consideration the gravity and sense of urgency emanated from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)’s Sixth Assessment Report (AR6).

They reiterated their determination to enhance the multilateral response to climate change in a way that also tackle inequalities within and among countries, including by working closer together within the Group of 77 and China and the BASIC Group of countries.

"India welcomes Brazil’s presidency of BASIC and fully supports the Brazilian prospective presidency of the 30th Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP30), in 2025," the statement said.

Both countries also agreed to increase joint projects in partnership with ISA (International Solar Alliance) and CDRI (Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure) in third countries.

Highlighting their roles as major global food producers, the leaders reaffirmed their resolve to increase cooperation in sustainable agriculture and rural development, including at the multilateral level, with the aim of safeguarding food and nutritional security of both countries and of the world. They underscored the need for open, unimpeded and reliable food supply chains and called upon the international community to ensure that agricultural trade is not affected by unilateral restrictions and protectionist measures, duly taking into consideration the multilateral trade rules.

The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the formation of Joint Technical Committees to facilitate trade in agriculture and animal husbandry products.

Acknowledging the recent increase in bilateral trade and investment, the leaders agreed that economic exchanges between Brazil and India have the potential for further growth, taking advantage of the scale of their respective economies and the potential for forging industrial partnerships.

Expressing satisfaction over the growing trade between India and Mercosur, both leaders agreed to work together for the expansion of India-Mercosur PTA during Brazil’s Mercosur Presidency, to leverage the full potential of this economic partnership. They welcomed the establishment of the India-Brazil Business Forum as a dedicated platform for private sector collaboration.

The leaders welcomed the increased defence cooperation between India and Brazil including participation in military exercises, exchange of high-level defence delegations, and substantive industry presence in each other's defence expositions. They encouraged the defence industries from both sides to explore new collaboration avenues and commence joint projects to co-produce technologically advanced defence products and build supply chain resilience.

The leaders noted with satisfaction the conclusion of domestic procedures for the entry into force of the India-Brazil Social Security Agreement.

President Lula congratulated PM Modi and India for the historic achievement of Chandrayaan-3's landing in the south polar region of the Moon, as well as the successful launch of India’s first solar mission, Aditya-L1, both important feats which mark remarkable milestones in space exploration.

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the IBSA Forum, the leaders vowed to foster higher-level dialogues among the three IBSA partners and affirmed the strategic significance of IBSA in safeguarding and advancing the interests of the Global South on the global stage, including at the multilateral and plurilateral bodies. Modi extended full support to Brazil’s IBSA Chairship.

Regarding the recent BRICS summit in South Africa, both leaders acknowledged its positive outcomes, particularly the renewed and strengthened support for the reform of the United Nations Security Council and the invitations extended to six countries to become full members of BRICS.

As we all know that India is the 5th superpower in the world so there is enough room for India in Africa. We also know that India is so powerful that it went to space. So we just need to coordinate. India is a superpower in terms of inhabitance, and now India is ahead of China."

Washington, Sep 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) US President Joe Biden said on Sunday that in addition to the "significant business" done at the just-concluded G20 in India such as the rail-ship economic corridor extending from India to Europe, he was able to raise the “importance of respecting human rights … the vital role (of) civil society and a free press” in his bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a customary trip-ender news conference in Hanoi, the second leg of his tour of India and Vietnam. Biden was peppered with questions about China and President Xi Jinping, who had skipped the G20 meeting, and about Ukraine.

In his opening remarks, Biden thanked Modi's "leadership and his hospitality and hosting the G20".

He went on to speak about a part of the visit that was overshadowed by the G20 meeting — his bilateral with the Indian leader.

Biden said he and Modi had "substantial discussions about how we're going to continue to strengthen the partnership between India and the United States, building on the Prime Minister's visit to the White House last June".

Biden had hosted Modi in a state visit, with the customary state dinner, which was the first for the Indian Prime Minister.

Biden then went on to say: "As I always do, I raised the importance of respecting human rights and the vital role that civil society and a free press have in building a strong and prosperous country with Mr Modi."

The American President may have been trying to pre-empt an issue that has been regularly asked of him and his officials by the American press. In fact, Prime Minister Modi was asked about it himself in the rare news conference he did with President Biden during his June visit.

US officials have said they have not hesitated to raise these issues with their Indian counterparts but not in the manner of one country lecturing the other but as a shared challenge.

The reference is to efforts by former President Donald Trump and his supporters to subvert the 2020 presidential election and the January 6 insurrection, for which he has been indicted in two separate cases.

About the G20 meetings, the American President said: "This was an important moment for the United States to demonstrate our global leadership and our commitment to solving the challenges that matter most to people around the world to invest in inclusive growth and sustainable development, addressing the climate crisis, strengthening food security and education, advancing global health and health security."

"We showed up ready to work and we showed the world the United States is a partner with a positive vision for our shared future," he added.

Left unsaid was that unlike the US, China’s President Xi Jinping and Russia’s President Vladimir Putin did not show up demonstrating their lack of commitment to the G20 platform.

Xi, in fact, had attended the recent meeting of the BRICS in Johannesburg, South Africa, where the group admitted six new members, a move that was supported by China and Russia and not so much by India.

Biden focussed on two of the major achievements of the G20 summit. The first was the launch of the rail-ship economic corridor that starts in India, cutts across West Asia (as the Middle East is called in India) and ends in Europe. It will "open up untold opportunities for transformative economic investment".

"We've also discussed Russia's brutal and illegal war in Ukraine," he said, touching upon the other notable achievement of the summit, a joint declaration. "There was sufficient agreement in the room on the need for justice for just and lasting peace, that upholds the principles of the World Charter, and respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity."

After meeting the Brazilian President Luiz Ignacio Lula da Silva, Modi said: "Excellent meeting with the President. Ties between India and Brazil are very strong. We talked about ways to boost trade and cooperation in agriculture, technology and more. I also conveyed my best wishes for Brazil’s upcoming G20 Presidency."

In another bilateral meeting, Modi met with the Republic of Korea President Yoon Suk Yeol.

After the meeting Modi said: "Reviewing the complete spectrum of bilateral relations, we agreed to further boost commercial and cultural ties between India and the Republic of Korea."

PM Modi also had a bilateral meeting with the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

After the meeting Modi said: "Very good meeting with Olaf Scholz in Delhi. Thanked him for enriching the G20 Summit with his views. Also discussed how India and Germany can continue working together in clean energy, innovation and work towards a better planet."

Brazilian President on Sunday said that his country will look to carry the torch of G20 forward.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the G20 Delhi leaders summit, the Brazilian President, who took over the presidency of the grouping on behalf of his country from India, said: "The Brazilian presidency of the G20 has three priorities - first, social inclusion and fighting against hunger. Second, energy transition and sustainable development in its three aspects and third, the reform of global governance institutions.”

He said that the Gandhian principles hold a lot of significance in his political career.

Earlier, Modi while handing over the ceremonial gavel of the G20 presidency to the Brazilian President, expressed hope that he will carry forward the common agenda of G20.

India's G20 presidency is valid till November this year.

During his meeting with the Canadian prime minister after the conclusion of the G20 summit, Modi told Trudeau that these elements are promoting secessionism and inciting violence against Indian diplomats, damaging diplomatic premises, and threatening the Indian community in Canada and their places of worship, a statement issued by the External Affairs said.

"The nexus of such forces with organised crime, drug syndicates and human trafficking should be a concern for Canada as well. It is essential for the two countries to cooperate in dealing with such threats," the statement quoted him as saying.

Modi at the same time highlighted that India-Canada relations are anchored in shared democratic values, respect for rule of law and strong people-to-people ties, the statement said.

Modi also mentioned that a relationship based on mutual respect and trust is essential for the progress of India-Canada relationship.

New Delhi, Sep 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has challenged the Chinese premier, Li Qiang, over Chinese interference in the UK parliament, after two men were arrested amid allegations that a parliamentary researcher had spied for Beijing, The Guardian reported.

Sunak met Li on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Delhi in an unplanned meeting hours after the Sunday Times, UK revealed the researcher, who is understood to have had links to senior Conservative MPs, had been arrested along with another man.

After the meeting, Sunak said: “I obviously can’t comment on the specifics of an ongoing investigation but with regard to my meeting with Premier Li what I said very specifically is that I raised a range of different concerns that we have in areas of disagreement, and in particular, my very strong concerns about any interference in our parliamentary democracy, which is obviously unacceptable.

“We discussed a range of things and I raised areas where there are disagreements. And this is just part of our strategy to protect ourselves, protect our values and our interests, to align our approach to China with that of our allies like America, Australia, Canada, Japan and others, but also to engage where it makes sense,” The Guardian reported.

According to Chinese media, Li told Sunak the two countries “should properly handle disagreements, respect each other’s core interests and major concerns.”

The meeting had not been scheduled, but was confirmed on Sunday morning after news of the arrests broke. The issue was the first thing Sunak raised during their 20-minute encounter, to which Li responded that the two countries had “differences in opinion”, The Guardian reported.

"Our President had invited many leaders including me and also suggested that we attend the meeting. Hence, I went there,” he said.

Nitish Kumar, after separating from the NDA, met with PM Narendra Modi face to face after one and half years.

He and his Jharkhand counterpart Hemant Soren met Biden in presence of PM Modi and President Murmu.

Besides, Nitish Kumar and Hemant Soren, leaders of INDIA including Tamil Nadu CM M.K. Stalin, Himachal Pradesh's Sukhvinder Singh Sukkhu, and West Bengal's Mamata Banerjee were also present at the dinner.

New Delhi, Sep 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) Amid a series of anti-India protests and death threats to Indian diplomats in Canada by Khalistani extremists, which had evoked sharp reactions from New Delhi, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Sunday said that though his country will always defend freedom of peaceful protest, at the same time, it will also push back against hatred.

In a media interaction after meeting his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi after the conclusion of the G20 summit, Trudeau, in reply to a question on whether the issue of Khalistani extremists came up during the meeting, said: "Over the years, with PM Modi, we have had many conversations on these issues.

"Canada will always defend freedom of expression, freedom of conscience, and freedom of peaceful protest and it is extremely important to us. At the same time we are always there to prevent violence and to push back against hatred.

"I think on the issue of the community, it is important to remember that the actions of the few do not represent the entire community or Canada. The flip side of it, we also highlighted the importance of respecting the rule of law."

In July this year, incidents of Khalistani elements protesting outside the Indian consulate in Toronto displaying "Kill India" posters, had led to Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar saying that Canada was apparently allowing these protests driven by votebank politics.

Canadian High Commissioner to India Cameron MacKay was also summoned to the
Ministry of External Affairs as Khalistani posters featuring the names of Indian diplomats were doing the rounds on social media.

The Indian government had also issued a strong demarche regarding the posters' incident and another similar incident which had taken place on March 23 this year.

Meanwhile on bilateral relations, Trudeau said: "We recognise that India is an extraordinarily important economy in the world and an important partner to Canada on everything from fighting climate change to creating growth and prosperity for the citizens. There is always a lot of work to do and we will continue to do it."

"Met PM @JustinTrudeau on the sidelines of the G20 Summit. We discussed the full range of India-Canada ties across different sectors," Modi posted on X after meeting Trudeau.

The two leaders discussed, assessed and reviewed the progress in bilateral relations since their last meeting in July, 2023 in Paris. They also exchanged views on important international and regional developments.

The External Affair Ministry said that the President Macron’s visit to India comes after the historic visit of Prime Minister Modi to Paris on July 13-14 as the Guest of Honour on the occasion of French National Day on 14 July 2023 commemorating the 25th anniversary of the India-France strategic partnership.

Acknowledging the strength of India France partnership, founded in deep trust, shared values, belief in sovereignty and strategic autonomy, a resolute commitment to international law and principles enshrined in the UN Charter, an abiding faith in multilateralism and a mutual pursuit of a stable multi-polar world, both leaders emphasised the need to expand their collaboration to address regional and global challenges.

They reiterated their unwavering commitment to collectively serve as a force of good, carrying the message of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ that is ‘one earth, one family, one future’, during tumultuous times reshaping the global order, the External Affair Ministry added.

“With the ‘Horizon 2047’ Roadmap, the Indo-Pacific Roadmap and other outcomes during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit serving as recent points of reference, the two leaders discussed overall progress and next steps on the implementation of the new and ambitious goals for cooperation in areas of defense, space, nuclear energy, digital public infrastructure, critical technology, climate change, education, and people-to-people contacts. They also carried forward their discussions on India-France partnership in the Indo Pacific region and Africa, including in infrastructure, connectivity, energy, biodiversity, sustainability and industrial projects. They underlined their role of providers of solutions for the Indo-Pacific through their cooperation in the framework of the International Solar Alliance, launched by India and France, and the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure.”

President Macron congratulated Prime Minister Modi on India’s success of Mission Chandrayaan 3.

The two leaders recalled six decades of India-France Space cooperation and reviewed the progress since holding of the first Strategic Space Dialogue in June 2023.

They acknowledged the strong India-France civil nuclear ties, good progress in the discussion for the Jaitapur nuclear plant project and welcomed the continuing engagement of both sides to expand bilateral cooperation to establish a partnership for co-developing SMR and AMR technologies as well as the forthcoming signature of a dedicated declaration of intent.

France reiterated its steadfast and unwavering support for India’s membership in the Nuclear Suppliers Group, the ministry of external affair added.

According to the joint statement, both leaders reiterated their commitment to strengthen the defence cooperation through partnership in design, development, testing and manufacture of advanced defence technologies and platforms, and expand production in India, including for third countries in Indo-Pacific and beyond. In this context, they also called for early finalisation of the Defence Industrial Roadmap.

Laying emphasis on areas such as digital, science, technological innovation, education, culture, health and environment cooperation, both leaders called for strengthening of institutional linkages in these domains, on the model of the Indo-French Campus for the Indo-Pacific.

In this context, they also reaffirmed commitment to expand cultural exchanges and work together in development of museums, the joint statement read.

Prime Minister Modi thanked President Macron for France’s continued support to India’s Presidency of G-20, which had advanced inclusiveness, unity and cohesion in international efforts to address global challenges and build a more stable global order.

India and France also welcomed African Union’s membership to the G-20 and look to work with AU, for the progress, prosperity and development of Africa, the official added.

New Delhi, Sep 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Indian startup ecosystem stakeholders on Sunday hailed the inclusion of startups as part of the Delhi Declaration for the first time in the history of G20.

India has taken the initiative to launch the Startup20 Engagement Group during its G20 Presidency.

“We are glad that Brazil has picked up the mandate to continue the Startup20 Engagement group into their presidency next year. We look forward to working on implementing the Startup20 recommendations over the next couple of years,” said Rajan Anandan, Managing Director of leading venture capital Peak XV (formerly Sequoia Capital India and SEA).

One of the most significant recommendations is that every G20 nation should invest 1 per cent of their GDP into startups by 2030.

"This will add up to $1 trillion per year of startup funding across the G20 nations," said Anandan, who is also Co-Chair of the Finance Taskforce of the Startup20 Engagement Group.

Startup20 is the first of its kind official engagement group initiated under the Indian presidency of the G20 2023.

The Startup20 Engagement Group would create a global narrative for supporting startups and enabling synergies between startups, corporates, investors, innovation agencies and other key ecosystem stakeholders.

"Startups are driving innovation on a global scale, and these emerging entrepreneurs necessitate a specialised platform to facilitate regulatory ease, cross-border partnerships, technology policy, and the cultivation of global synergies among key stakeholders within the ecosystem," Dr Ritesh Malik, Director, Alliance for Digital India Foundation (ADIF), a think tank for India's digital startups, told IANS.

"Innovation will play a pivotal role in addressing the world's pressing global challenges, such as climate change, unemployment, cybersecurity, poverty, pollution, and the like," he added.

Startup20 India will operate through Task Forces which are structured to develop key priorities and bring forward the topics in which recommendations would be formulated to support the startup ecosystems globally.

Prince Narula, who has still managed to have the strongest gang, has nonetheless bid farewell to some of his old members.

Prince, taking to social media, posted a small clip where he wished one of his members, Vashu, a fond farewell as the two had become quite attached.

In the show also, Prince along with actress Rhea Chakraborty was visibly quite sad to have to dissolve his old crew, telling some of his other members such as Akriti, who he swapped to get Piyu that the game must go on.

Rhea was another one who had quite an emotional moment, particularly with Bhoomika with the latter even having cried upon leaving her group to join Gautam Gulati’s gang.

Rhea was moved by this gesture, and told Bhoomika that while within the show the two must now be on opposite ends, she’ll always be there to help her out.

Gautam on the other hand, is more of a calculating personality, and his primary concern is the game. 

During the episode, he had told all his contestants, when he got Rajveer on his team that he will drill the sense of unity and strategy into them, because they will win, no matter what.

Currently, Prince has retained the upper hand, having acquired Piyu as well as having the most amount of Roadiums, which has put him in a considerably leading position.

But as every leader has said before, nothing is predictable in ‘Roadies’ and anything can happen.

New Delhi, Sep 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) As the Delhi G20 leaders summit called for the immediate revival of the Black Sea grain initiative to ensure that developing and least developed countries, particularly those in Africa, don't suffer, Turkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday said that any initiative to isolate Russia is bound to fail.

Addressing reporters after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the culmination of the G20 summit, he said: "We believe that any initiative that isolates Russia is bound to fail. Its success is a very little possibility. We believe that any step that may escalate the tensions in the Black Sea should be avoided. In order to support the global food security, food supply security, we are going to bring together the Food Supply Security Study Group, both Russia, Ukraine, as well as the United Nations, and with our stakeholders coming from the international community, we are going to have continuous talks."

Following an earlier-than-anticipated arrival of a consensus, the Delhi Declaration, adopted at the summit, said that the G20 called for the "full, timely and effective implementation" of the MoU between Russia and the UN on promoting Russian food products and fertilisers to world markets and the Initiative on the Safe Transportation of Grain and Foodstuffs from Ukrainian Ports, or the Black Sea Initiative.

"In this context, emphasising the importance of sustaining food and energy security, we called for the cessation of military destruction or other attacks on relevant infrastructure," it said.

On July 17, Russia had said that it would be revoking its involvement in the agreement that allowed grain to be moved from Ukraine to Africa and Asia to tackle the food crisis caused by the war, which pushed up prices to eye-watering levels.

Russia had said that it will honour the deal after "the part of the Black Sea deal related to Russia is implemented".

Meanwhile Erdogan thanked India, saying: "I thank India for a gracious and very successful term of presidency. I would like to thank PM Modi for the gracious hospitality that was shown to me, my spouse and my entire Turkish delegation. This year, our theme was one world, one family and one future. And within the first session of the summit, we had talked about the environmental challenges that our planet currently encounters. Climate change, the loss of biological diversity and especially there is the dimension of extensive pollution is a trio of challenges which we can feel even more profoundly now."

"India is among our greatest trade partners in Asia and there is huge potential to this partnership," he added.

On the proposed India-UAE-Europe economic corridor, Erdogan said: "Regarding the corridor, as far as our work regarding the corridor is concerned, first of all, the Gulf countries are included in it. Iraq is also part of it. And opening up a corridor through Turkey would mean the following taking up the Gulf and opening it up all the way into Europe and tying it all the way into Europe.

"Now, regarding such a corridor, particularly United Arab Emirates, Iraq and Turkey are acting sensitively and in a fast manner. We hope to be able to implement this project. We're working on it, and as we speak, our ministers of foreign relations and ministers of transportation work together. And we will try and work to be able to implement this in the coming couple of months."

Earlier in the day, Sunak announced $2 billion fund for Green Climate Fund -- the biggest single funding commitment the UK has made to help the world tackle climate change.

Sunak also visited Akshardham temple along with his wife Akshata Murthy and then also visited Rajghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi. The world leaders observed one minute silence and laid a wreath at Rajghat.

Sunak had arrived in Delhi on Friday.

New Delhi, Sep 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) As the Ukraine conflict got "watered down" in diplomatic jargon in the Delhi Declaration adopted at the G20 summit, French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday said that the grouping was not a forum for political discussions.

He, however, added that a vast majority of G20 countries condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Speaking after meeting prime minister Narendra Modi at a luncheon meeting, Macron noted that the G20 should not get stuck on these issues, while referring to the Ukraine conflict.

The G20 summit was committed to just and lasting peace in Ukraine, he added.

The summit talked about upholding principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, Macron said.

"The G20 summit has sent across a message of unity," he noted.

"The core business of this forum is economy and coordination on the global affairs. The core business is not stability, security and peace. We should not stop everything if we disagree on one or two topics. (Russia's) President (Vladimir) Putin is not here because he is sanctioned by a lot of us and for good reasons. I think what's happening is very grave and concerning for everybody," Macron said.

Praising India's presidency, Macron said that considering the current fragmented environment, India has done well as G20 President.

"I think we (India-France) have a strong bilateral partnership. We had a very strong defence partnership and we strengthened this partnership, especially during the past two years. The visit of your PM during our Bastille Day, was a very critical moment. French people were very proud and they felt the friendship and respect for your country. We will follow up on defence, we will develop and deploy on all the different parts of our defence roadmap, additional contracts and procurements in days to come," he said.

On the forthcoming Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, which are scheduled to held next month, Macron said: "Next the IMF, we expect some greater commitments by the emerging countries when it comes to restructuring the debt of African countries. We stand ready to do more. And we said it today. So it is the very same agenda, greater financing, mobilisation around the world. France upgraded its commitments and we reached 0.5 per cent of our GDP allocated to development projects. And we also want the same to happen at the international level.

"And this is the reason why we're committed to the replenishment of IFAD - The International Fund for Agricultural Development. And the meeting will be taking place in December."

"A very productive lunch meeting with President @EmmanuelMacron. We discussed a series of topics and look forward to ensuring India-France relations scale new heights of progress," Modi posted on X after meeting Macron.

He also expressed his gratitude towards thousands of workers and officers of the NDMC, DDA, Delhi Police, NHAI, Delhi Cantonment Board, PWD, Forest Department, MCD, DIAL, IAF, ASI and others, whose outstanding round the clock hard work over the last few months resulted in Delhi becoming clean and beautiful ‘Host City’ for the visiting dignitaries.

Saxena reiterated his gratitude towards the ‘Rain’, which made the stay of visiting dignitaries all the more special by bringing down temperatures as well as the AQI. 

"Even as the Summit drew to a close, the LG kept a constant vigil and monitored every aspect associated with its organization, in terms of security, civic infrastructure, civic services, beautification and general upkeep. Throughout yesterday and today, Saxena kept in touch with the Commissioner of Police, keeping an eye on VVIP movement, car-cade routes, traffic and public transport and ensured that markets outside the restricted zone are open and shoppers and commuters do not face any problem," said the LG office.

Saxena, who had been keeping an eye on every VVIP movement, has recorded his appreciation for the Delhi Police for flawlessly handling many a unscheduled visits by the visiting dignitaries in the City.

The L-G also remained in touch with the Chief Secretary, Chairperson NDMC and the Commissioner MCD, keeping an eye on the cleanliness in the City. He has lauded the efforts to keep Air Pollution under check in the City over the past days by ensuring that dust pollution is kept under check by consistent spraying and cleaning of roads, pavements and central verges. It may be known that the Chief Secretary had detailed all IAS/ DANICS probationers to personally monitor and ensure this exercise.

While at the Dinner hosted by the President of Bharat at the Bharat Mandapam Venue, it began to rain and Saxena activated the contingency plan put in place for such eventuality.

"For waterlogging that had happened at certain sites prone to flooding, pumps were immediately put into action and the same was drained within 15 minutes during the night itself. Similarly, potted plants that had tumbled due to impact of rain and wind were replaced immediately and incident of tree falling in the NDMC area was addressed forthwith. Similarly, the incident of a Water Fountain not working due to choked nozzle, was addressed immediately and all Water Fountains worked ceaselessly," the LG office said.

It was reported to L-G by ITPO officials at 5 a.m, at the parking area near Gate No. 5 of the ITPO Complex, some waterlogging had taken place due to the incessant overnight rains. He was informed at 6 a.m in the morning that the waterlogging at site had been drained by using the Heavy Duty Contingency Pumps deployed for this purpose. When dignitaries arrived at the venue at 10 a.m for the second day session, the area was clean, green and spruced up as it was before.

Throughout these operations, before and after pictures of the sites were sent to the L-G by the officers deputed for this purpose.

Washington, Sep 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) The US conceded space to the host India in the wording of the final Delhi Declaration of G20 on Russia's invasion of Ukraine and lauded Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's diplomatic skills that virtually represented a coup as the final document came out despite fractures in the group.

The declaration earned the praise of the US.

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan called the statement a "significant milestone for India's chairmanship and a vote of confidence that the G20 can come together to address a pressing range of issues."

"The G20 statement includes a set of consequential paragraphs on the war in Ukraine. And from our perspective, it does a very good job of standing up for the principle that states cannot use force to seek territorial acquisition," Sullivan  told newspersons.

Still, the language differed from last year's G20 declaration, which stated "most members strongly condemned the war in Ukraine." So, in a way, it was a diplomatic coup for India as the host country took a softer line than the Bali G20 one by not calling it a war but saying,  "All states must refrain from the threat or use of force to seek territorial acquisition." 

US and western nations wanted stronger language to condemn the aggression on Ukraine as they succeeded in the Bali G20 conference. The Russian invasion was described as a war in the declaration then.

The softer tone in the Delhi declaration showed that US and western allies yielded space to India, the host country, to word it differently which still had the same effect but also gave India the leverage with its long term ally Russia, whose leader Vladimir Putin did not attend, balancing its equations with US and Russia at the same time - a feat pilled of by the foreign office officials under foreign minister S Jaishankar along with trusted allies .

Russia, as a member of the G20, would have to agree on any consensus statement on Ukraine. Russia and China had resisted stronger language in a final statement, making any kind of agreement difficult. No G20 summit has concluded without a joint declaration of some type, media reports said.

Leaders gathered here for the annual Group of 20 summit managed to agree on a joint statement laying out shared views on climate change and economic development but showed the fractures within the group by stopping short of explicitly condemning Russia's invasion of Ukraine, CNN reported .

Diplomats virtually burnt the midnight oil to sort out what sort of language and phraseography the final draft  joint statement required in the lead-up to the summit . Anticipating snags, Indian foreign office officials along with its allies managed to play down the Ukraine situation as a war.  

The eventual compromise statement amounted to a coup for the summit’s host, Prime Minister Modi, but still reflected a position far softer than those the US and its Western allies have adopted individually, CNN reported. 

US President Joe Biden's hopes of convincing the world's largest economies to rally behind Ukraine during his two-night stay in India for the summit did not bear fruit in the way he wanted, but he still liked the final wording. He also pressed his case for American investment in the developing world.

Even as the summit was midway through on Saturday, the leaders agreed to the joint declaration acknowledging the situation in Ukraine while not papering over the group’s major divides on the issue.

"All states must refrain from the threat or use of force to seek territorial acquisition," the declaration read, without explicitly singling out Russia for its invasion. The document also stated opposition to the use of nuclear weapons and highlighted the economic effects of the war in an indirect reference to Putin's threat of using nuclear weapons if NATO allies intervened militarily to help Ukraine.

In a reflection of the deep fractures among the G20 nations, the statement acknowledged "there were different views and assessments of the situation", US media reports noted. 

Ukraine's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Oleg Nikolenko however criticised the declaration. Kiev was not invited by India to the G20 summit.

"Ukraine is grateful to its partners who tried to include strong wording in the text," he wrote on Facebook. "At the same time, the G20 has nothing to be proud of in the part about Russia's aggression against Ukraine. Obviously, the participation of the Ukrainian side would have allowed the participants to better understand the situation. The principle of 'nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine' remains as key as ever," media reports said.

The absence of Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin - US President Biden's arch rivals -  provided opportunities for Biden to make a more affirmative case at the summit, White House officials said during the summit.

Biden said Saturday he would have welcomed the presence of his Chinese counterpart at the summit, but that positive outcomes were still possible. "It would be nice to have him here but, no, the summit is going well," Biden said when questioned about the impact of Xi's absence.

Biden hoped to leverage on the two leaders absence at the summit to portray the US as a credible counterweight to China’s economic outreach.He announced new plans partnering Europe, the Middle East and Asia to construct a major new transit corridor connecting the regions, thus challenging Beijing's own efforts at expanding global trade with its belt road initiatives.

"India calls upon the world to come together to transform the global trust deficit into one of trust and reliance. This is the time for all of us to move together," Prime Minister Modi said as the gathering got underway.

"Be it the divide between North and South, the distance between the East and West, management of food and fuel, terrorism, cyber security, health, energy or water security, we must find a solid solution to this for future generations," he emphasised. It was a message of unity at a markedly fractured moment for the grouping, the US media observed.

While Biden enjoyed success at other summits convincing European leaders and NATO allies to step up their military support for Ukraine and tighten their punishment of Russia, many nations, particularly in the Global South, weren't  convinced. They viewed the billions of dollars in Western assistance pouring into Ukraine sceptically, and sought a more balanced relationship with Moscow, CNN said.

Biden's aides claimed the president welcomed the opportunity to make the case for Ukraine, including to audiences that aren’t necessarily on the same page. “Part of what makes the G20 an appealing format for the United States is it gives us a chance to interact with and work with and take constructive steps with a wider range of countries, including some, frankly, that we don’t see eye to eye with on every issue," US deputy national security adviser Jon Finer told reporters on Saturday.(ends)
