New Delhi, Jan 16 (SocialNews.XYZ) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday said that in a joint operation with Border Security Force (BSF) it has arrested one Aladu alias Mathur, a resident of West Bengal, Malda in connection with running fake Indian currency racket.

The gang was being operated from cross border. The main accused were sending fake notes to India from Bangladesh.

A senior NIA official said they busted the gang last week and had arrested an aide but he managed to give the agency a slip and since then they had been working to nab him.

"The case was registered by DRI Unit Malda, West Bengal regarding recovery of high quality fake Indian currency notes of Rs 1,99,000, from the possession of an accused. Subsequently, NIA had re-registered the case and had taken up the investigation," said an NIA official.

After completing the probe, the NIA had filed charge sheet against four accused persons including Aladu for his role in FICN trafficking. The NIA had shown a number of evidences and recovery to prove their claim. Apart from this the NIA also had mentioned a number of witnesses' statements to prove the case of the prosecution.

The NIA found that Aladu had been involved in procurement of High Quality FICNs from his Bangladeshi associates. He had been circulating the same in India with an intention to damage economic stability of the country.

"The arrested accused Aladu had been absconding since 2019," said an NIA official.

Further investigation in the matter is on.

Chennai, Dec 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Tamil Nadu government's Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment (HR&CE) Department withdrew its order mandating two doses of inoculation against Covid-19 for devotees entering the Meenakshi Sundareswar temple in Madurai and Sri Ramanthaswamy temple in Rameswaram.

The order was withdrawn on Sunday evening as several organisations had come out against the order, which was issued on Saturday.

According to the order, starting from December 13, only pilgrims with copies of their vaccination certificate would be allowed entry to the two shrines.

The state government said that the measure was taken to contain the spread of Covid-19 and the possibility of a third wave.

The order also said that as more than 50,000 people visit the two temples per day, hence it was required for the devotees to produce their vaccination certificate.

In Rameswaram, huge boards were erected on roadsides citing the necessity of vaccination and had also mentioned that those without vaccine certificates would be denied entry.

Vaccine shots were kept ready at the local primary health centres to inoculate the devotees.

In a statement to IANS, HR&CE Minister P.K. Sekar Babu said: "Madurai Meenakshi Sunndareswar temple and Sri Ramanathaswamy temple have taken all precautions to prevent the spread of Covid and hence the order mandating vaccination is withdrawn."

Bhubaneswar, Nov 5 (SocialNews.XYZ) Odisha on Friday reported three fresh Covid-19 fatalities taking the death toll to 8,350.

According to the health department, one person each from Khurda, Mayurbhanj and Nayagarh districts have succumbed to the disease.

"This list does not reflect deaths occurring on a particular day. It gives details of past deaths for which the death audit process has been duly completed and the cause of death has been identified as due to Covid-19," the department said.

The state also registered 170 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, of which 24 persons are below 18 years of age. While 98 cases were detected from quarantine centres, 72 are local contact cases, the information and public relations department said in a tweet.

With this, the total Covid-19 cases in the state surged to 10,42,943, of which 10,30,889 persons have recovered, while the active cases stand at 3,651.

Regarding the ongoing vaccination drive, Family Welfare Director Bijay Panigrahi said about 80 per cent of the total beneficiaries have received their first dose, while 37 per cent got both the doses.

"Har Ghar Dastak vaccination campaign has been launched on November 2 in the state to complete double dose administration of all the left out beneficiaries and second dose due beneficiaries as early as possible," he said.

Despite mass vaccination, infection has increased in Europe and China. Therefore, there's no room for complacency, Panigrahi said.

Public health director Niranjan Mishra said Europe and China have reported delta variants of coronavirus. India had already reported the variants during the second wave.

"About 99 per cent Covid-19 cases in India are delta variants. So, we think that our population has immunity power for the variant. However, we have to remain cautious," added Mishra.

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Kerala government on Wednesday announced further relaxation in the Covid norms.

The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Consequent to it, now people who have taken one vaccine dose will also be allowed entry to movie halls. This came after the film industry wanted it.

Around 90 Malayalam films are ready for release and the industry felt that in the want of audiences, they will incur heavy losses.

But preventive measures like social distancing, use of masks will have to be strictly followed, said Vijayan.

Regarding the number of people attending marriages, it has been decided to increase the number to 100 in closed halls, while it can go up to 200 in open halls.

Ever since Kerala started to register around 50 per cent of the country's daily new cases, Vijayan stopped his daily Covid press meets, which initially won him huge laurels but later he became the butt of criticisms, especially in the social media, when he was trolled also.

Bengaluru, Nov 2 (SocialNews.XYZ) In a respite to the Karnataka government which has eased restrictions after a decline in the number of cases, Bengaluru has not recorded any Covid fatality in the past 70 days, according to the health department.

The last Covid death that Bengaluru had recorded was on August 23. According to statistics released on Monday, only two fatalities were recorded across the state.

Following the trend, the government is all set to lift nightlife curbs in Bengaluru and other cities. The Covid Technical Advisory Committee has already recommended easing curbs on nightlife, according to sources.

The state reported 185 Covid positive cases with Bengaluru accounting for 95 cases. The state's positivity rate stood at 0.3 per cent.

According to experts, vaccination coverage in the state, especially in Bengaluru, contributed to the reduction in Covid fatalities and positivity rate.

Karnataka has so far administered 4.2 crore first doses of Covid vaccination and 2.3 crore second doses.

According to sources, the Covid Technical Advisory Committee has recommended the lifting of the 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. night curfew.

The state government has removed all major restrictions barring movement of people from Kerala. The committee has also considered the possibility of spread of the new variant virus AY 4.2.

The night curfew was clamped from April 10 during the tenure of former Chief Minister B.S.Yediyurappa at the peak of the second wave. The government is likely to lift the restrictions on night life after Diwali celebrations.

However, a final call will be taken after the festival ends and the impact of the gathering of lakhs of people without following Covid norms of social distancing and wearing of masks for Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar' funeral, who died due to cardiac arrest, is known in another two weeks, experts opine.

Chennai, Nov 2 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Tamil Nadu State Health department has warned shoppers and shopkeepers to strictly adhere to Covid -19 standard protocols and not to allow overcrowding in shops and streets during Deepavali shopping.

The Health department is conducting awareness drive across the state that Covid-19 is still dangerous and can be fatal.

State Health Minister Ma Subramanian while speaking to IANS said, "The Covid -19 daily cases in the state have come down to 1,000 but still we cannot let off our guards. The Greater Chennai Corporation has ordered the removal of all wayside vendors and ice-cream stalls on Ranganathan Street which is busy and crowded."

The Minister also said that Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has directed the shopkeepers in all the crowded streets and shops across the state to remind people of the dreaded pandemic which had claimed several lives and also crushed the economy.

In a circular to all the district health officers, the state health department has pointed out that after Onam festival in Kerala, the cases had gone up and similarly, after the Pooja festival, the cases have gone up in West Bengal.

Ma Subramanian said, "We know what had happened in Kerala and West Bengal and hence we are cautious and we don't want all the hard work done by several officers, doctors, nurses, and social workers to go in vain and hence will not allow overcrowding in streets and shops during Deepavali."

The state health department has also made provisions to conduct testing and vaccination in shops and establishments with sanitary inspectors being directed to conduct routine inspections.

The Minister said, "While it is a great effort that has brought the number of daily Covid -19 cases under 1000, time is not ripe to rejoice as we have to wait and watch on whether the disease would bounce back. However, we have taken all precautions and there is nothing to worry about. People must be more aware of the possibilities of the disease coming back if we let out guard down and not adhere to Covid -19 standard protocol prescribed by the government."

The shopkeepers are also prepared for the crowd and safe distancing is maintained in most of the shops even in the busy Ranganathan street in T Nagar, Chennai.

Shanmugasundaram, owner of Raja stores in Ranganathan Street while speaking to IANS said, "We have maintained all that is prescribed in the Covid -19 standard protocol and we have inoculated all our staff with both the doses of vaccine. Crowd sometimes is uncontrollable but we have still managed to maintain the standard distancing."

Lucknow, Oct 28 (SocialNews.XYZ) Amid the rising Covid-19 cases in other states and neighbouring countries, the Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday instructed the surveillance committees to switch on to 'alert mode' to contain the spread of infection in the state.

The surveillance committees constituted by the Yogi Adityanath government played a significant role in controlling the spread of the resurgent virus through timely identification, isolation of Covid patients and distribution of medicine kits, pulse oximeters and thermometers in the state.

The committees have been instructed to intensify door-to-door screening, tracing of patients showing influenza-like illness (ILI) as per the WHO-recommended 'trace-test-treat' strategy. The committees have also been ordered to check the spread of vector-borne diseases such as dengue, cholera, diarrhoea and malaria in the state.

"As coronavirus remains under effective control in Uttar Pradesh, in view of rising cases in other places, we must strengthen our contact tracing operation. The surveillance committees must intensify screening to enable early detection if any followed by early treatment," the chief minister said at a meeting in Lucknow on Thursday.

The government spokesperson said that over 73,000 surveillance committees will pay door-to-door visits and will conduct thorough screening and tracing of every individual.

The surveillance exercise will be carried out rigorously in view of the festive season which may result in increased transmission of diseases.

Apart from making all necessary arrangements in the hospitals for the treatment of ailing people, the government has also ordered to ensure continuous monitoring of the health of every patient to remove any chance of increased transmission of the virus or any water-borne, vector-borne disease.

The authorities have been asked to continue the extensive cleanliness, sanitization and fogging drives to prevent the spread of vector-borne diseases.

A month-long state-wide communicable disease control drive is also being conducted to keep a check on seasonal vagaries.

The campaign has been rolled out in all 75 districts to educate the public about measures to prevent communicable diseases.

The ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, ANMs and village heads have been entrusted with the responsibility of apprising the rural populace about various water-borne diseases.

New Delhi, Oct 27 (SocialNews.XYZ) After much deliberation, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Wednesday gave the nod to Chhath Puja celebrations and reopening of primary classes in Delhi, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said.

"As per experts, the Covid-19 situation is under control in the city. Therefore, at the meeting, it was decided that Chhath Puja will be celebrated in the national capital by following all Covid-19 guidelines," Sisodia said during a press conference, adding that we need to be cautious to contain the spread of the infection.

At the DDMA meeting, it was also decided to reopen primary classes i.e. from nursery to Class 8.

"Students have suffered a huge loss due to shutdown of schools in the wake of Covid-19. It will be difficult to recover that loss. We decided that all primary schools, whether government or private, will be allowed to open from November 1," he said.

However, there will be a few conditions.

"No parents will be compelled to send their children to school. Classes will be conducted online as well. Only 50 per cent of the class capacity need to be present. Teaching and non-teaching staff need to be vaccinated against Covid-19," Sisodia said.

A month ago, just when the Navaratri festival had begun, the DDMA had allowed Durga Puja pandals to be set up in the capital with several Covid-19 related restrictions.

Schools for students of Classes IX-XII were reopened on September 1.

Chhath Puja, a prominent festival amongst the Purvanchal community in Delhi, was earlier directed to be celebrated at home. This led to a political furore in the city with BJP MP Manoj Tiwari staging a protest against the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government.

Dharamsala, July 9 (SocialNews.XYZ) A five-year-old slum boy, who hogged social media attention for teaching Covid-appropriate behaviour to holidaymakers with a stick in hand, is now being employed by the Himachal Pradesh police to make people follow the rules.

The state has seen a major surge in the number of tourists escaping the heat of the plains, causing doctors to warn that their Covid-inappropriate behaviour may just trigger a third wave of the pandemic.
The boy, Amit, whose parents earn their livelihood selling balloons, was caught on a video in the streets of Bhagsunag near McLeodganj asking people to wear a mask by poking them with a stick.
When the video went viral, the local police, realising how effective Amit was, provided him with food and clothes. Donning a new Himachali cap and clothes, the boy, sitting on a police vehicle, is now the new mascot for Covid-appropriate behaviour.
"This little kid was seen on the streets of Dharamsala, asking people to wear masks," read the caption of the video shared on Instagram. "He doesn't even have shoes to wear. See the smirking faces of these people. Who is educated and who is uneducated here?"
In the video, Amit, who was wearing a mask and holding his now-famous stick, asked everyone who passed by him, "Tumhara mask kahaan hai? (Where is your mask?)"

New Delhi, May 30 (SocialNews.XYZ) Majority of Indians reported that in the last one year or so their overall living standard has dropped significantly. This happened almost a year back and that red line has not come down since then.

Worse is, the ever-optimistic Indian is so much spiralling down the pessimism way at the moment that they don't see any ray of hope in the coming 12 months either, as per the IANS C Voter Covid Tracker.

To a question in the survey on how many days of Ration/ medicine etc. or money for ration/medicine etc. is available for your family in your house, as 53.2 per cent said they have less than three weeks of rations.

Things are bleak on the employment and income front too. As many as 37.6 per cent respondents said they are working under regulations and safety measures but income/salary has decreased. 21.1 per cent said income or salary is the same while 10.9 per cent said they are completely laid off or out of work.

5.6 per cent respondents said that they are working from home but their salary or income has decreased. In total, large segments are reporting reduced salary or income or no income at all.

Even in the worst of the times during the Wave 1 of Covid pandemic last year, the country was still optimistic and general opinion was that the country is moving forward even in the difficult times.

But everything seems to have changed in last one month or so. Now majority of the Indians are saying that their personal life as well as the Country, both are in poor state, as per the IANS C Voter Tracker.

The sample size of the Covid-19 tracker was 56,685 and the period of the survey was 1st January-27th May 2021 covering all 542 Lok Sabha segments.

New Delhi, May 30 (SocialNews.XYZ) Even in the worst of the times during the Wave 1 of Covid pandemic last year, the country was still optimistic and general opinion was that the country is moving forward even in the difficult times.

But everything seems to have changed in last one month or so. Now majority of the Indians are saying that their personal life as well as the Country, both are in poor state, as per the IANS-CVoter Covid 19 Tracker.

The sample size of the Covid-19 tracker was 56685 and the period of the survey was January 1 to May 27, 2021 covering all 542 Lok Sabha segments.

Every 10th household in India is right now reporting an active case within immediate family members and almost every fifth household in India is reporting loss of life among near and dear ones, as per the IANS C Voter Tracker.

This means one in every 10 Indian families has at least one family member suffering from Covid and one in every 20 Indian families has self-reported a death within immediate or extended family.

Majority of Indians reported that in the last one year or so their overall living standard has dropped significantly. This happened almost a year back and that red line has not come down since then. Worse is, the ever-optimistic Indian is so much spiraling down the pessimism at the moment that they don't see any ray of hope in the coming 12 months either.

And the fear remains about someone in the family getting infected or not getting treatment. This fear is unlikely to go down till the actual number of cases go down and people start getting treatment and oxygen properly without getting too stressed about it. Our tracker is generally one to two weeks ahead of the official trendline, and we don't see that happening for next 6 to 8 weeks in near future.

The tracker found that Corona becomes the top issue, again in India and the number of confirmed +ve cases and deaths within immediate family as reported by Tracker is multiple times over the official Government numbers.

Even by the most conservative estimates, the self-reported ILI (Influenza like illness) symptoms is directly in sync with the trendline of self-reported Covid positive cases. Needless to say, that only a fraction of such cases have been tested for Covid, as usual. So, the lack of testing is being passed as lack of positive cases.

"Whichever way we calculate, the official records are showing less than 1/10th of numbers that is being reported by the public, be it in case of Active report or be it the case of mortalities. The self-reported numbers by "We, the people of India" are numbing, and experienced by all of us barring the "system", the tracker found.
