New Delhi, Dec 4 (SocialNews.XYZ) A day after the loss in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Monday said the performance of the party was disappointing, but the vote share of the party was within the striking distance of the BJP and hence a reason for the revival.

In a post on X, Ramesh, who is party's communication in charge said, "It is true that the performance of the Indian National Congress in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan was disappointing and far below our own expectations. But the vote shares tell a story of a Congress that is not very behind the BJP - in fact, it is within striking distance. This is the reason for hope and revival."

Sharing the vote shares of Chhattisgarh, Ramesh said that the BJP got 46.3 per cent while the Congress got 42.2 per cent of the vote share. He said that in Madhya Pradesh BJP got 48.6 per cent vote share while the Congress got 40.4 per cent vote share.

In Rajasthan, the Congress leader said, the BJP got 41.7 per cent while the grand old party got 39.5 per cent.

The Congress was decimated by the BJP in the three states -- Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan -- where the counting of votes took place on Sunday.

The Congress, after the losses in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, is in power only in three states -- Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh and Telangana. The party won in Telangana on Sunday by defeating the ruling BRS.

Jaipur, Dec 4 (SocialNews.XYZ) If the veteran leaders in BJP are to be believed, then a leader who did not contest could become the Chief Minister in Rajasthan, and those who did could be the deputy.

A day after the resounding victory in Assembly elections, back to back meetings were going on among the BJP leaders regarding the selection for the post of Chief Minister. Sources said Vasundhara Raje has called a meeting of her MLAs on Monday in Jaipur while Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and MLA Baba Balaknath have been called to Delhi.

State BJP chief C.P. Joshi has also been called to Delhi.

Those in the race for the CM's post are Union Minister Arjun Meghwal, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Ashwini Vaishnav, State President C.P. Joshi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Om Mathur. All these leaders did not contest polls, however, they did a hard leg work.

Similarly, former CM Vasundhara Raje is also a contender for the coveted post.

Others in fray are Rajsamand MP Diya Kumari and MP Kirodilal Meena.

Party leaders said that BJP is keen on playing social engineering card for the Lok Sabha election.

They can play a Dalit/ Meena card to increase their vote share per cent to ensure winning performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

The final decision will be taken at the level of PM Modi and Amit Shah.

After the names are finalized in Delhi, a meeting of the BJP legislature party will be called in Jaipur soon. BJP's election in-charge, state in-charge and senior leaders will be present in this meeting. The name of the CM will be announced in the legislature party meeting itself. The name of CM has been announced according to this tradition in BJP.

Patna, Dec 4 (SocialNews.XYZ) After a big jolt for the Congress party in three states, JD(U) MLC and chief spokesperson Neeraj Kumar has advocated implementation of the ‘one seat, one candidate’ formula in the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.

“The BJP won in three states and lost the election in Telangana. Narendra Modi is taking credit for the victory but he has to take blame for the loss too. Due to his political sins in Manipur, he did not dare go to neighbouring Mizoram for campaigning,” Kumar said. “Now the time has come for all regional parties, Left parties and the Congress to prepare strategies for the ‘one seat, one candidate’ formula to defeat the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections in 2024,” Kumar said.

Following the defeat of the Congress party, JD(U) spokesperson Nikhil Mandal said, “The INDIA bloc should go according to Nitish Kumar. As the Congress party was busy in the elections of five states, its leaders were not paying attention to the INDIA bloc. Now the Congress has contested elections and the results are also out. Nitish Kumar was the anchor of the INDIA bloc and he is capable of crossing the victory line.”

Aizawl, Dec 4 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) is likely to form the next government in Mizoram for the first time as the party is leading in 26 seats in the 40-member Assembly leaving far behind the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF), which is ahead in only ten seats.

As the counting of votes for the Mizoram Assembly elections is underway on Monday in 13 centers across the state, trends showed the opposition Congress leading in only one seat while the BJP was ahead in three seats.

ZPM’s President and Chief Ministerial candidate Lalduhoma is leading in the Serchhip seat while most of the prominent nominees of the party were leading in their respective seats.

MNF candidate and Chief Minister Zoramthanga was trailing in the Aizawl East-1 seat where ZPM nominee Lalthansanga was leading.

Deputy Chief Minister and MNF candidate Tawnluia was also trailing in Tuichang seat, where ZPM’s W. Chhuanawma was leading.

Several other MNF Ministers were also trailing in their respective seats.

In the 2018 elections, MNF bagged 26 of the 40 member-Assembly, while the ZPM got eight seats. The Congress had bagged five seats and the BJP managed to win one seat.

The counting of votes for the Mizoram Assembly polls, held on November 7, began at 8 a.m. amid elaborate security arrangements in all 11 districts of the state.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer H. Lianzela said that initially postal ballots were counted and then the counting of votes polled through the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) was taken up.

Over 4,000 officials, including women, were engaged in the counting process. These officials are posted at 40 counting halls under 13 centres in 11 districts, the official told IANS.

Director General of Police Anil Shukla said that adequate security measures were in place for the smooth conduct of the counting process.

Adequate contingents of Central Armed Police Forces and Mizoram Armed Police have been deployed across the state to maintain law and order.

More than 80 per cent of the 8.57 lakh voters exercised their franchise to decide the electoral fate of 174 candidates, including 16 women.

The ruling Mizo National Front (MNF), the main Opposition Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) and the Congress have fielded candidates from all 40 seats while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is contesting four seats.

The BJP has fielded candidates on 23 seats with a special focus on linguistic minority inhabited areas, especially where the Reang and Chakma tribal communities are in good numbers in the voters' list.

Besides them, 27 independent candidates are also in the fray.

Hyderabad, Dec 4 (SocialNews.XYZ) All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) retained its seven seats in the Assembly but only after coming close to losing two of them.

The party's vote share in its traditional stronghold has also come down. AIMIM candidates scraped through in two constituencies while it retained five other segments with a comfortable majority.

The AIMIM, which is also referred to as MIM, retained the seats which it had been winning since 2009.

A friendly party of BRS, it had contested nine seats, all in Hyderabad and had backed BRS in the rest of the state.

The party's vote share came down 2.22 per cent from 2.71 per cent in 2018. It contested nine seats this time against eight in the previous election.

Asaduddin Owaisi-led party polled 5,19,379 votes in all nine constituencies against 5,61,091 in eight segments in 2018.

Its candidates scraped through in Yakutpura and Nampally constituencies.

The party retained Yakutpura in the old city by only 878 votes.

Jaffer Hussain of AIMIM secured 46,153 votes while Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) candidate Amjedullah Khan polled 45,275 votes.

BJP's N. Veerender Babu Yadav finished third with 22,354.

The MIM candidate was trailing in many rounds and at one stage it looked like the party would lose the seat.

In 2018, Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri had retained the seat by a margin of nearly 47,000 votes.

As expected, MIM faced a tough fight in Nampally.

Former mayor of Greater Hyderabad, Mohammed Majid Hussain was elected by a margin of only 2,037 votes against Congress candidate Mohammed Feroz Khan.

Majid Hussain secured 62,185 votes while Feroze Khan polled 60,148 votes.

BRS candidate Anand Kumar Goud secured 15,420 votes. Amid allegations by Asaduddin Owaisi that RSS leaders were campaigning for Congress candidate's victory, the constituency in the heart of the city witnessed a tense fight.

Feroze Khan has been contesting every election from Nampally since 2009 and finishing a close second.

In 2018, he lost to the MIM candidate by 9,675 votes.

Asaduddin Owaisi's brother Akbaruddin Owaisi retained Chandrayangutta seat by a margin of 81,668 votes. He has been winning this seat since 1999.

Former mayor Mir Zulfeqar Ali was elected from Charminar by a margin of over 22,000 votes against BJP’s M. Rani Agarwal.

Kausar Mohiuddin was re-elected from Karwan by a huge margin of nearly 42,000 votes against BJP’s Amar Singh.

In Malakpet, Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala emerged victorious once again by over 26,000 votes against Congress candidate Shaik Akbar.

Mohammed Mubeen of MIM was elected from Bahadurpura by a massive margin of over 67,000 votes against Mir Inayath Ali Baqri of BRS.

In Jubilee Hills, MIM candidate Rashed Farazuddin finished a distant fourth.

Former Indian cricket captain and Congress leader Mohammed Azharuddin was defeated in this constituency by sitting MLA Maganti Gopinath of BRS by 16,337 votes. BJP candidate L. Deepak Reddy finished third.

MIM had not contested this seat in 2018 while its candidate V. Naveen Yadav had finished a close second in 2014.

MIM's vote share in Rajendranagar constituency came down drastically. Its candidate Mandagiri Swamy Yadav finished a poor fourth with 25,670 votes. The party had secured third position in 2018 with 46,547 votes. Sitting MLA T. Prakash Goud of BRS retained the seat with a margin of 32,096 votes over BJP candidate T. Srinivas Reddy.

Congress candidate K. Narender finished third. Mubeen, Zulfeqar Ali and Majid Hussain have been elected to the Assembly for the first time. There were big celebrations at Darussalam, the AIMIM headquarters late Sunday.

Asaduddin Owaisi and all the newly elected MLAs of the party joined the celebrations by hundreds of party workers.

New Delhi, Dec 4 (SocialNews.XYZ) By retaining Madhya Pradesh and winning in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, the BJP is now in power in 12 states across the country, while the Congress reduced to power in only three states.

The BJP retained Madhya Pradesh with a brute majority of 165 seats in the 230-member Assembly.

The saffron party also won in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan with a massive mandate.

On the other hand, the Congress, with its victory in Telangana, is now in power in three states across the country besides Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh.

The grand old party was hoping for a second term in Chhattisgarh as well as Rajasthan, but its dreams shattered after it failed to get the mandate.

Besides the three states, where the elections results were announced on Sunday, BJP is in the power on its own in Uttarakhand, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Goa, Assam, Tripura, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.

The saffron party is also part of the ruling coalition in four states -- Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Sikkim.

The states ruled by the BJP-led NDA will now account for almost half of the 543 Lok Sabha seats, while only two states, accounting for less than 50 Lok Sabha seats, are now governed by parties not aligned with either the NDA or the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) of opposition parties.

The Congress is also part of the ruling coalitions in Bihar with Grand Alliance partners -- RJD and the JD-U and Jharkhand with the JMM. It is also an ally of the DMK, which is in power in Tamil Nadu. However, the Congress is not part of the Tamil Nadu government.

Meanwhile, the AAP, with its governments in Delhi and Punjab, is the third biggest national party.

Jaipur, Dec 4 (SocialNews.XYZ) In Rajasthan Assembly elections, major upsets were seen in more than 10 of 21 key constituencies.

The defeat of Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore, Deputy Leader of Opposition Satish Poonia and Assembly Speaker CP Joshi was quite shocking.

BJP had made the contest on the seats interesting by fielding its 7 MPs.

Out of them, 4 MPs showed great performance, but three MPs had to face defeat.

Among the losers, two MPs Devji Patel and Bhagirath Chaudhary stood third in the race.

MPs namely Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Diya Kumari, Kirodilal Meena and Baba Balaknath made stunning victories.

Diya Kumari's victory from Vidyadhar Nagar seat by 71,368 votes was the biggest margin.

BJP lost Kishangarh, Jhunjhunu and Sanchore Jalore.

It has fielded MPs on these three seats.

In Kishangarh (Ajmer), Congress' Vikas Choudhary won while BJP MP was at third position.

There was a triangular contest on this seat.

Congress had given ticket to Vikas Chaudhary, who lost the last election on BJP ticket.

BJP had given ticket to Ajmer MP Bhagirath Chaudhary here.

From here, sitting MLA Suresh Tank was once again contesting as an independent.

Vikas Chaudhary has won here by a margin of 3,620 votes.

Tank gave a good fight to Congress this time.

In the Congress vs Independent contest, BJP candidate Bhagirath Chaudhary slipped to third place here.

Vikas Chaudhary got 83,645 votes. Suresh Tank got 80,025 votes while Bhagirath Chaudhary got 37, 534 votes.

In Mandawa (Jhunjhunu), BJP MP Narendra Khichad lost from his old seat.

Jhunjhunu MP Narendra Khichad was fielded by BJP from his old assembly seat.

In front of him was Congress MLA Rita Chaudhary. The reputation of the MP was at stake on this seat.

Narendra Khichad has lost here by 18,717 votes.

Rita Chaudhary got 98,747 votes.

Narendra Khichad bagged 80,030 votes.

In Sanchore (Jalore), an Independent won, while BJP MP at third position.

BJP had fielded three-time MP Devji Patel from this constituency. He was pitted against Congress minister Sukhram Vishnoi.

However, here, Independent Jeevaram had a strong hold too.

Minister Sukhram Vishnoi, who had been winning for two consecutive terms, lost by 4,671 votes.

Independent candidate Jeevaram Chaudhary was a BJP rebel in the last elections.

He finally turned the tables and BJP MP Devji Patel stood third.

Jeevaram Chaudhary got 95,518 votes while Sukhram Vishnoi bagged 90,847 votes.

Devji Patel got 30,535 votes.

Meanwhile, MPs in Sawai Madhopur and Jaipur performed well.

In Sawai Madhopur, MP Kirodilal Meena won.

Rajya Sabha MP Kirori Lal Meena, who was at the forefront of his movements and demonstrations on many issues including paper leak in the last three years, defeated sitting Congress MLA Danish Abrar.

Kirodilal Meena remained ahead in the competition throughout the day and won by 22,510 votes. Meena got 81,087 votes.

Congress' Danish Abrar got 58,577 votes.

Independent candidate Asha Meena got 36,251 votes.

In Vidyadhar Nagar (Jaipur), BJP's Diya Kumari won with record votes.

There was a lot of uproar here due to former Jaipur royal family member MP Diya Kumari getting the ticket and veteran leader Narpat Singh Rajvi's ticket being cut, but BJP succeeded in calming it down.

Congress had again given a chance to his former candidate Sitaram Aggarwal.

Diya Kumari, who contested this seat for the first time, won by a record 71,368 votes.

This victory is considered to be the biggest victory in entire Rajasthan.

Diya Kumar got 1 lakh 58 thousand 516 votes.

Sitaram Aggarwal got 87,148 votes.

In Jhotwara (Jaipur), BJP MP Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore won.

In this seat, BJP had fielded MP Rajyavardhan Singh Rathod while Congress fielded young face Abhishek Chaudhary.

This was the first assembly election for both of them. Here Ashu Singh Surpura, as a BJP rebel, had created a triangular conflict.

Rajyavardhan lagged in the initial rounds but took a huge lead after 10 rounds.

Rathore defeated Abhishek Chaudhary by 50,167 votes. He got 1,47,913 votes.

Abhishek Chaudhary got 97,746 votes.

Ashu Singh Surpura got 55,159 votes.

In Tijara (Alwar), BJP MP Baba Balaknath won.

This seat had come into discussion because of BJP candidate MP Baba Balaknath.

From here, Congress had fielded Imran Khan, the BSP candidate in the last Lok Sabha elections.

This seat remained in discussion due to polarisation.

Balaknath won here by 6,173 votes. He got 1,10,209 votes.

Hyderabad, Dec 4 (SocialNews.XYZ) BJP’s K. Venkata Ramana Reddy has proved to be a giant killer as he defeated Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandasekhar Rao and state Congress chief A. Revanth Reddy, who is likely to be the next Chief Minister, in Kamareddy constituency.

The BJP candidate defeated his nearest rival KCR by a margin of 6,741 votes.

While Venkata Ramana Reddy, a local BJP leader, polled 66,652 votes, KCR secured 59,911 votes.

This is KCR’s first electoral defeat in nearly four decades. He had never lost an election since 1985.

Revanth Reddy finished third in Kamareddy, polling 54,916 votes.

There were many turns ever since the counting began in the morning. Revanth Reddy was leading over KCR till 12th round but from 13th round, the BJP candidate overtook both of them.

For a few rounds, KCR and Revanth Reddy fought for second and third position but the BJP candidate maintained the lead till the 20th and last round.

Venkat Ramna Reddy was the only local among the three main candidates. While KCR hails from undivided Medak district, Revanth Reddy comes from undivided Mahabubnagar district.

Both KCR and Revanth Reddy were elected from their home constituencies of Gajwel and Kodangal respectively.

While KCR was elected from Gajwel for a third consecutive term, Revanth Reddy emerged victorious in Kodangal. The Congress leader had suffered defeat in this constituency in 2018.

In Gajwel, KCR defeated former minister and BJP candidate Eatala Rajender by a margin of 45,031 votes. The BRS chief polled 1,11,648 votes while Rajender secured 66,653 votes. Congress party’s T. Narsa Reddy finished a distant third with 32,568 votes.

In Kodangal, Revanth Reddy trounced sitting MLA P. Narender Reddy of the BRS by 32,532 votes. He polled 1,07,429 votes while Narender Reddy garnered 74,897 votes. BJP’s Bantu Ramesh was a distant third with 3,988 votes.

Hyderabad, Dec 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General, Ravi Gupta, on Sunday night took charge as the state's Director General after the Election Commission placed incumbent Anjani Kumar under suspension for violating Model Code of Conduct by meeting state Congress chief A. Revanth Reddy when the counting of votes was still underway.

An Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of 1990 batch, he was appointed as the police chief by Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari on the directions of the Election Commission.

The Election Commission had asked her to place Anjani Kumar under suspension and give charge of DGP to the next seniormost eligible officer.

The poll panel took serious note of Anjani Kumar, along with Additional DG Sanjay Jain and Additional DG (Law & Order) meeting Revanth Reddy when the counting process was still underway.

The EC observed that the action of DGP meeting a contesting candidate and a star campaigner of the party with a flower bouquet at his residence is clear indication of mala fide intention of seeking favour.

Earlier, a statement from the DGP’s officer said Anjani Kumar, along with two other officials, met Revath Reddy and discussed the preparation for the swearing-in ceremony.

Revanth Reddy told the DGP and other officials that they will soon meet the Governor. He mentioned that from "today evening Muhurram will start so if possible, they may consider swearing-in function tomorrow - or they may take on 9th as mentioned earlier".

He also asked the DGP to make adequate security arrangements at all important places. He also informed DGP that many Chief Ministers and former Chief Ministers including very senior leaders from Delhi will participate.

Anjani Kumar also directed that each winning candidate will get 2+2 PSOs. Senior functionaries will get a higher category of security apparatus. He had also asked the Security Wing to prepare the threat perception report for all elected candidates.

Anjani Kumar later also held a meeting with Hyderabad Police Commissioner and other officials for effective security arrangements at LB stadium for the swearing-in.

New Delhi, Dec 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) Following BJP's resounding victories in the Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on that "today's hat-trick guarantees a hat-trick at the Centre in 2024", as he hailed the verdict as an endorsement for his agenda of self-reliant India and good governance.

Addressing jubilant party supporters in the presence of the top BJP leadership at the party headquarters here, the Prime Minister said, "The results show popular support for our battle against corruption."

Taking a swipe at the Congress-led INDIA bloc, Modi said, "Few dynasts on a stage can get a good picture, but can't earn the confidence of the people. Today’s results are challenge for those who oppose development."

The Prime Minister also said that he has a piece of advice for the Congress and its allies -- they should not practice politics which is against national interests, nor work to divide and weaken the country.

"Negative forces working against India will now work hard to come together and look for opportunity, but people should be wary of them. No one should come between the Centre's development agenda and the people, else the masses will remove them," Modi said in a stinging attack against the opposition parties.

He also said that people can distinguish between selfish politics and the politics of national interest.

The Prime Minister added that Sunday's mandate has proved that people have zero tolerance for corruption, appeasement and 'parivaarvad'.

"Today the country knows that only the BJP is capable of ending these three evils. The move against corruption that the BJP government at the Centre has started is getting massive public support. This is a clear warning to those parties and leaders who are not ashamed of standing by the corrupts," he said.

Targeting the opposition parties, Modi said that those who shield the corrupt and try to cover up their misdeeds, are the same people who defame the probe agencies which are targeting the corrupt. Such people should understand that the poll results are an indication of public support for the fight against corruption.

He also said that today, the resolve of 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' has won, the idea of preference for the deprived has won, the idea of development of states for the development of the nation has won."

The Prime Minister extended his appreciation to the voters, calling the victories as historical and unprecedented.

"The idea of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' has won today," Modi declared, while acknowledging the immense love and faith for the BJP shown by the people.

"For me, four castes are important - Nari Shakti, Yuva Shakti, Kisan and Gareeb Parivaar," he said, highlighting the pivotal role women, youth, farmers and the marginalised families play in the nation's progress.

Expressing gratitude to Nari Shakti, Modi acknowledged their crucial role in ensuring BJP's success in the recent elections.

He also spoke passionately about the joy of collective victory felt by the poor, deprived, farmers, tribal communities and first-time voters.

Promising to fulfil all the campaign promises, Modi said, "All the promises made by us will be 100 per cent fulfilled, and this is Modi's guarantee."

The Prime Minister also underscored the confidence he had in preventing the Congress from coming to power in Rajasthan, crediting the trust he placed on the people of the state.

Before Modi's address, BJP President J.P. Nadda lauded the Prime Minister's leadership and commitment, saying, "The results reflect that there is only 'Modi guarantee'. 'Modi hai toh mumkin hai'."

Hyderabad, Dec 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) While the Congress has stormed to power in Telangana, it failed to win even a single seat in Greater Hyderabad, which has 24 seats.

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) continued its grip on the region, winning 16 seats while its friendly party All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) retained all its seven seats.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also retained its only seat.

Political analysts say the fear among a section of voters in Greater Hyderabad that a change of guard may impact the development in the region may have prompted them to vote for the BRS. There was an apprehension among voters that the change of government may impact the business environment and the flow of investment as the KCR-led government had laid special emphasis on development of the IT sector and urban infrastructure in and around the city.

The Congress had won two seats (Maheshwaram and LB Nagar) in 2018 but both the MLAs later defected to the BRS.

Sabitha Indra Reddy, who was rewarded with a Cabinet berth, retained Maheshwaram while D. Sudhir Reddy was re-elected from LB Nagar.

The result of only Jubilee Hills was yet to be declared. When the counting was stopped due to objections raised by Congress candidate and former Indian cricket captain Mohammed Azharuddin, BRS candidate and sitting MLA M. Gopinath was leading by 15,939 votes with just one round to complete the counting.

The BRS retained its seats in Hyderabad (total 15 seats), but also in adjoining districts Medchal Malkajgiri (5) and Rangareddy (4). It retained Khairatabad, Amberpet, Musheerabad, Sanath Nagar, Secunderabad and Secunderabad Cantonment in Hyderabad. AIMIM also retained all its seven seats – Charminar, Nampally, Yakutpura, Bahadurpura, Chandrayangutta, Karwan, and Malakpet.

The BJP also retained its lone seat Goshamahal.

In Medchal Malkajgiri district, BRS retained all five seats - Uppal, Kukatpally, Qutbullahpur, Malkajgiri and Medchal. It also retained LB Nagar, Serilingampally, Rajendra Nagar and Maheshwaram which fall in Rangareddy district.

The Congress has wrested power from BRS by winning 64 seats in the 119-member Assembly. The BRS stood second with 39 seats. The BJP and the AIMIM bagged eight and seven seats, respectively. The CPI won the remaining seat.

Jaipur, Dec 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) Ashok Gehlot, the veteran Congress leader in his capacity as the Chief Minister, failed to put brakes on the state's 'political tradition' of power switching in Assembly polls as the BJP wrested power from the grand old party in Rajasthan again after five years.

While Gehlot and his party were hoping to retain power on the plank of free schemes and guarantees, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which contested the polls without naming its chief ministerial candidate, had the last laugh.

According to political analysts, Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the election campaign from the front played a crucial role in helping the BJP emerge triumphant in the desert state.

PM Modi during his rallies promised to improve the law and order situation in the state, provide jobs to the youth, besides protecting the Sanatan Dharma.

Analysts believe the stress on Hindutva also played a crucial role in the change of government in Rajasthan.

Not only did the Congress lose Rajasthan, it also conceded defeat to the BJP in Chhattisgarh besides facing a humiliating loss in Madhya Pradesh, where the saffron party swept the polls to retain power.

According to political analysts, the fresh results would pose as a major challenge for the Congress in its preparations for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

One analyst also pointed towards the crisis the Congress had to deal with in 2020, when Gehlot was engaged in a direct face-off with his then deputy Sachin Pilot.

The skirmish between the two top Congress leaders in the state led to the formation of two separate camps, with the leadership of Gehlot facing crises at a certain point.

The face-off between Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot is also believed to have weakened the party's prospects, the result of which was imminent on Sunday.

In the Assembly polls, Gehlot's 'prime competitor' was PM Modi, whose leading from the front act eventually made the senior Congressman lose power in the desert state.

Besides, top Congress leaders such as ministers Vishvendra Singh, Pratap Singh Khachariyawas, B.D. Kalla, Ramlal Jat and Bhanwarlal Bhati also lost the polls.

Analysts believe BJP's aggressive campaigning worked in its favour.

Besides issues related to Sanatan Dharma and Hindutva, the BJP also focused on youth-centric matters. The issues of unemployment and corruption were highlighted and discussed during the rallies.

The BJP also spoke about reconsideration of the old pension scheme (OPS) which is believed to have given the party a major boost to its prospects in the Assembly polls.

Also, the BJP focused on strengthening the party, with the Sangh taking command of the "weaker seats".

Even as questions were initially raised if the party would lead a successful campaign by putting PM Modi on front, the BJP managed to win without projecting any of its leaders as the chief ministerial face.

The saffron party also cashed in on the dispute between Gehlot and Pilot camps.

It tried to gain the Gujjars' vote by claiming injustice was done to Sachin Pilot and his father, late Rajesh Pilot.

Besides, the Hindu vote bank was also polarised through the Kanhaiya Lal murder case.

The party did not field a single Muslim candidate.

It also tried to present the Hindutva image by giving tickets to three saints -- Baba Balaknath, Mahant Pratap Puri and Balmukund Acharya, and all of them won by big margins.

What also did not go well for the Congress was Sachin Pilot remaining confined to his area, or within his supporters only.

Another key reason behind the defeat of Congress is its performance in east Rajasthan. Of the 50 seats in Jaipur division, Congress had won 34 seats in 2018. This time, the numbers fell significantly.

Besides, the Congress also suffered a crushing defeat in Mewar and Marwar regions.

PM Modi's stress on "double-engine government" during the rallies also worked in BJP's favour.

Among the issues on which Congress was contesting the elections, except for the Chiranjeevi Yojana, the rest of the benefits did not reach the public. There was a lot of delay in implementing schemes like free mobile, free ration kit, Indira Rasoi in the rural areas.

Jaipur, Dec 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) Lokesh Sharma, the OSD to Ashok Gehlot, on Sunday launched a scathing attack against the outgoing Chief Minister by holding him solely responsible for Congress' debacle in the Assembly elections, the results of which were announced on Sunday.

The BJP swept the polls by winning 115 seats in the 199-member Assembly to oust the Congress, which was reduced to just 69 seats.

“I am hurt by the results, but not surprised. Congress could have undoubtedly changed the customs in #Rajasthan, but Ashok Gehlot ji never wanted any change. This is not the defeat of Congress, but of Ashok Gehlot ji.

“The party fought the elections under Gehlot's leadership, giving him a free hand and according to him, he himself was contesting on every seat. Neither his experience, nor magic worked. Congress did not win with the help of his plans, nor did the immense ‘pink' campaign work.

"Despite being a three-time CM, Gehlot brought the party down. Till date, he has only taken from the party, but has never been able to help the Congress retain power in the state,” Sharma said.

And Sharma didn't stop here as he went on to use phrases like “cheating with the high command", "not allowing correct feedback to reach the top", "not allowing anyone to become an alternative", "continuously taking wrong decisions out of narcissism", "being surrounded by immature and selfish people", "ignoring all feedback and surveys", "allotting tickets to his favourite candidates", etc. to target the outgoing Chief Ministers.

“The results which came out today were certain. I myself had told this to the Chief Minister earlier, I had warned him many times, but he did not listen... In fact, he didn't like any person who told the truth,” Sharma said.

It needs to be mentioned here that Sharma wanted to contest the polls from Bikaner, but Gehlot had emphasised that state Education Minister B.D. Kalla should seek renomination from the seat.

Sharma had also asked for a ticket from Bhilwara, but was denied.

"I traveled continuously for six months, met people, organised dialogue programmes with thousands of youth, covered about 127 Assembly constituencies and submitted ground reports to the CM.

"I put all the details on the table so that decisions could be made by taking corrective steps on time... I myself had expressed my desire to contest the elections, first from Bikaner and then on the request of the CM from Bhilwara, the seat where we were losing for 20 years.

"But he was in no mood for an experiment. And for B.D. Kalla ji, I had told six months ago that he would lose the elections by more than 20,000 votes, and that's what happened," said Sharma.

New Delhi, Dec 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) Congress on Sunday dubbed its victory in Telangana as a "silver lining" for the people of the state saying that the state was formed because of it but the objectives behind its creation were lost in nine years.

In a post on X, Congress General secretary Jairam Ramesh said: "The performance of the Indian National Congress in Telangana is a silver lining not just for the party, but also for the people of the state."

"Telangana became the 29th state of the Indian Union entirely because of the Indian National Congress, but the objectives that led to its creation have got lost these last (and lost) nine years.

"A Congress government, that will very soon be in place, will give the state a new direction," Ramesh added.

His remarks came after the Congress won a majority in the 119-member Assembly for the first time in Telangana since its inception in 2014.

Hyderabad, Dec 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Congress on Sunday staked claim for forming the government in Telangana after it secured a majority in the Assembly elections while the newly-elected MLAs will meet on Monday to elect their leader.

A delegation of Congress leaders led by party General Secretary in-charge of Telangana Manikrao Thakare and Telangana state President A. Revanth Reddy called on Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan at Raj Bhavan on Sunday night to stake claim for government formation.

They were accompanied by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, other AICC observers, and former state President Uttam Kumar Reddy.

They submitted a list of newly-elected Congress MLAs to the Governor.

Shivakumar told media persons outside Raj Bhavan that they staked claim for forming the government with 65 MLAs.

He said a meeting of newly-elected MLAs will be held at 9.30 a.m. Monday.

"We have a procedure in the Congress party. We will come out with the procedure and we will come back to you," he said while declining to answer queries.

The meeting is likely to pass a resolution requesting the party’s Central leadership to name the leader. The newly-elected MLAs of the party from across the state have started reaching Ella Hotel in Gachibowli. All are likely to reach late on Sunday night.

Revanth Reddy, who led the party’s campaign, is likely to be named the CLP leader by the party’s central leadership. It was immediately not clear if the new Chief Minister will take oath on Monday or later.

Hyderabad, Dec 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Sunday said that Telangana results are an indication of continued dominance of Congress in South India.

Addressing reporters here, he said: "Voters of Telangana and our party workers had made up their mind to bring change in the state and the results reflect that. I would like to thank the people of Telangana and all our party workers for the victory."

Congress leaders and workers from Karnataka, Maharashtra, and other neighbouring states worked tirelessly in Telangana, he said, adding that they are taking all necessary steps to bring candidates from each constituency to Hyderabad.

Asked if Telangana was a personal victory, Shivakumar said: "This is a victory for people of Telangana. The people of Telangana have paid their gratitude to Sonia Gandhi for giving them a separate state. The people of the state were fed up for the last ten years and they have voted for progress and development. I am grateful to the people of Telangana for believing in us. We will work hard to live up to the expectations of the people."

Replying to a query if Revanth Reddy was the architect of the victory, he said: "Revanth Reddy is the TPCC President and the captain of the team. We fought the election on collective leadership. The party will decide on the leadership, I would not like to discuss this issue at this point. We respect the party decision."

Asked if he has a message for BRS chief K. Chandrashekar Rao and his son K.T. Rama Rao, he said: "I don’t have to respond to this question. The people of the state have responded today."

Jaipur, Dec 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda has called a meeting in Delhi to take a decision on the next chief minister of Rajasthan -- the state where the saffron party wrested power back from the Congress.

A source said that senior BJP leaders have already held several meetings to discuss the matter.

Nadda has sought feedback from Rajasthan unit president CP Joshi, and election in-charge Pralhad Joshi.

Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has been called to Delhi.

Sources said that Baba Balaknath has also been called to the national capital.

BJP will formally stake claim to form the government after getting the nod from the central party leadership.

A meeting would also be held in Jaipur to discuss the next chief minister and government formations.

Currently, leaders considered as CM faces have distanced themselves from any kind of show of power.

Senior BJP leaders are now waiting for the high command's stand for a decision on the Rajasthan chief ministerial name.

There will be an announcement regarding the new chief minister at the BJP legislature party meeting.

There has been a tradition in the BJP to announce the name of the Chief Minister in the legislature party meeting itself.

According to sources associated with BJP, the decision on the new CM is likely to be taken soon.

The new chief minister may be sworn in on December 7.

For this, a public function will be organised in Jaipur.

Senior leaders including PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda will attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new CM, sources said.

The BJP contested the Rajasthan Assembly elections without declaring the CM face.

This time, names of many leaders are being discussed for the new CM.

Apart from Vasundhara Raje, the names of Rajasthan unit BJP president CP Joshi, Union Ministers Arjun Meghwal, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, senior leader Om Prakash Mathur are doing the rounds.

Jaipur, Dec 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Rajasthan Assembly election results have come as a shocker to both the Congress and BJP stalwarts. While many Ministers of the Ashok Gehlot government as well as senior leaders like the Assembly Speaker lost the polls, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) and Deputy Leader of Opposition have also lost the election.

While Speaker CP Joshi lost to Vishwaraj Singh Mewar by over 7,504 votes in Nathdwara, the LoP, Rajendra Rathore, a six-time MLA, lost to the Congress’ Narendra Budania by over 10,000 votes. Rathore in fact has changed his seat from Churu to Tara Nagar. Deputy LoP and former state president Satish Poonia lost to the Congress’ Prashant Sharma by 9,092 votes.

Once again, the trend of changing governments every five years has continued in Rajasthan as the BJP has gained majority in this Assembly election.

According to the Election Commission, the BJP won 115 seats and the Congress won 69 seats, while other candidates won 15 seats.

Accepting defeat, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has submitted his resignation to the Governor.

Meanwhile, the Bharat Adivasi Party, contesting elections for the first time, has won three seats. Except for Hanuman Beniwal, no candidate from his Rashtriya Loktantrik Party has won. Only two MLAs from the Bahujan Samaj Party, which has the status of a national party, have won, while the Aam Aadmi Party and Marxist Communist Party could not bag a single seat in the state.

There have been many shocking results in this election, 17 out of 25 Congress Ministers including Parsadi Lal Meena, Pratap Singh Khachariyawas and Mamta Bhupesh have lost these elections.

This time the people have again changed the government, but this is the first time that the Speaker of the Assembly as well as the LoP and Deputy LoP have lost.

After the BJP's victory in Rajasthan, senior party leaders are holding meetings to form the Government. In Delhi, BJP President JP Nadda has called a meeting regarding Rajasthan in the evening. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has been called to Delhi.

New Delhi, Dec 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) Following BJP's resounding victories in the Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on that "today's hat-trick guarantees a hat-trick at the Centre in 2024".

Addressing jubilant party supporters in the presence of the top BJP leadership at the BJP headquarters here, the Prime Minister said, "Today, the resolve of Aatmanirbhar Bharat has won, the idea of preference for the deprived has won, the idea of development of states for the development of the nation has won."

Nadda lauded the Prime Minister's leadership and commitment, saying, "This results reflect that there is only 'Modi guarantee'. 'Modi hai toh mumkin hai'."

Hyderabad, Dec 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) All the three MPs of the BJP and its key leader Eatala Rajender suffered defeat in Telangana Assembly elections, the results of which were declared on Sunday.

BJP national General Secretary and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay lost to BRS candidate and Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar by over 4,000 votes in Karimnagar constituency.

Bandi Sanjay was removed as BJP state President a few months ago and replaced by Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy.

Barring Kishan Reddy, the BJP had fielded all its MPs in the Assembly elections.

Nizamabad MP Arvind Dharampuri, who had defeated KCR’s daughter K. Kavitha in Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency in 2019, lost to Kalvakuntla Sanjay of the BRS in Koratla constituency by over 10,000 votes.

Adilabad MP Soyam Bapu Rao lost to Anil Jadhav of the BRS by 22,800 votes in Boath constituency.

Though, the BJP improved its tally to eight from one in 2018, it also suffered big setbacks. It lost two of its sitting MLAs, who were elected in the bypolls.

Former minister and sitting MLA Eatala Rajender failed to retain Huzurabad, losing to P. Kaushik Reddy of the BRS by 16,873 votes.

Rajender, who is member of the BJP National Executive and also Chairman of party’s election management committee also suffered defeat in Gajwel, losing to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao by a huge margin of 42,352 votes.

Rajender had quit the BRS and joined the BJP after the Chief Ministerdropped him from the Cabinet in 2021. In the by-election held the same year, he had retained Huzurabad seat as a BJP candidate. The victory had given BJP a big boost and the saffron party had started projecting itself as the only viable alternative to the BRS.

Another sitting MLA of BJP, M. Raghunandan Rao was also defeated. He lost to the BRS candidate and Medak MP K. Prabhakar Reddy by 53,513 votes. He was elected from Dubbak in a by-poll held in 2020. The saffron party had wrested the seat from BRS.

BJP’s only sitting MLA who retained the seat is Raja Singh. The controversial leader scored a hat-trick from Goshamahal constituency in Hyderabad, defeating Nand Kishore Vyas of BRS by 21,457 votes. Booked for hate speeches on many occasions, he was arrested in August last year after he made certain derogatory comments about Prophet Mohammad, triggering massive protests.

He was sent to jail under Preventive Detention (PD) Act. The BJP had also suspended him. Raja Singh was released in November after the Telangana High Court set aside PD Act proceedings against him. The BJP recently revoked his suspension and fielded him again from Goshamahal.

Hyderabad, Dec 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao sent his resignation to Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Sunday after the Congress party won the Assembly elections.

According to a press communique from Raj Bhavan, the Governor received the resignation of the Chief Minister. “The Hon’ble Governor accepted his resignation letter and further requested him to continue in office till formation of new government,” said the communique.

Earlier, when it became clear that Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) will not retain the power, KCR sent his resignation to Raj Bhavan through an official.

KCR was expected to reach Raj Bhavan to submit his resignation. He, however, quietly left Pragati Bhavan in his private car. He did not reach Raj Bhavan and it was later learnt that he sent his resignation.

The chief minister is reported to have left for his farmhouse at Erravalli village in Medak district.

KCR’s action surprised many as he left as a commoner without the convoy and even the route clearance.

Hyderabad, Dec 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) Nearly a decade after it carved out Telangana, the Congress stormed to power in India's youngest state, riding on anti-incumbency against the KCR-led BRS government.

Successfully replicating its Karnataka model, the Congress put a brake to its electoral losses in Telangana, dashing the hopes of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of scoring a hat-trick.

As predicted by most exit polls, the Congress secured a clear majority in the 119-member Assembly. As per the official information available with the Election Commission of India on Sunday evening, the Congress won 47 seats and was leading in 17 other constituencies. Its ally CPI also won the lone seat it contested.

The Congress, which had won only 19 seats in 2018, had only five members in the dissolved Assembly as it lost a dozen MLAs to BRS, one to BJP and one seat in the by-election.

The grand old party, which had lost all the by-elections held since 2019 and had dismal performance in the Greater Hyderabad municipal polls, appeared down and out till a few months ago.

It, however, bounced back after Congress' victory in neighbouring Karnataka. Banking on the six guarantees announced on the lines of promises made in Karnataka and aggressively taking on KCR over the family rule issue and alleged corruption, the Congress came out with a dramatic improvement in its performance to capture power.

BRS, which was facing anti-incumbency after two terms in power, suffered defeat to end with 39 seats. The party had 104 seats in the dissolved Assembly and it was hoping to retain power even if it lost 40 seats. However, it failed to retain a whopping 65 seats.

BJP, which was seen as an alternative to the BRS till a few months ago, also improved its numbers. The saffron party, which had won only one seat in 2018 but added two seats in the by-elections, emerged victorious in eight constituencies.

The All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), a friendly party of BRS, appears to be retaining all seven seats in its stronghold of Hyderabad.

The speculation of a hung Assembly had kept the Congress leaders on tenterhooks. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and other observers of AICC had reached Hyderabad on Saturday to foil any poaching attempt by the BRS. They were camping at a city hotel and were closely monitoring the trends since Sunday morning.

When it became clear that the Congress would secure a clear majority, Shivakumar and Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President A. Revanth Reddy reached Gandhi Bhavan, the party headquarters.

Revanth Reddy, who is likely to be named the next Chief Minister by the leadership after a meeting of the newly-elected MLAs, dedicated the victory to Telangana's martyrs and vowed to work to fulfil their aspirations.

The TPCC chief declared that Congress will work for reviving democracy in the state and announced that the doors of the state Secretariat will be thrown open for the public. He also announced that Pragati Bhavan, the official residence of the Chief Minister, will be renamed as Babasahed Ambedkar Praja Bhavan.

Revanth Reddy was elected from his home constituency Kodangal by a huge margin of over 32,000 votes, while KCR retained his constituency Gajwel.

However, both KCR and Revanth Reddy suffered a surprising defeat at the hands of the BJP candidate in Kamareddy constituency, with Venkat Ramna Reddy defeating KCR by a margin of 5,156 votes. Revanth Reddy, who had entered the fray to challenge KCR, finished third.

Venkat Ramna Reddy was the only local among the three main candidates. While KCR hails from undivided Medak district, Revanth Reddy comes from undivided Mahabubnagar district.

Meanwhile, KCR has sent his resignation to Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan.

KCR was expected to reach Raj Bhavan to submit his resignation. He, however, quietly left Pragati Bhavan in his private car. He did not reach Raj Bhavan and it was later learnt that he has sent his resignation.

The Chief Minister is reported to have left for his farmhouse at Erravalli village in Medak district.

At least six ministers also lost the elections. KCR’s son K.T. Rama Rao and nephew T. Harish Rao were among the ministers who could retain their seats.

Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka retained his Madhira (SC) seat, while former TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy was elected from Huzurabad.

The Congress had an almost clean sweep in south Telangana and won majority seats in north Telangana. However, the BRS continued its domination in and around Hyderabad.

The BJP did well in north Telangana to win seven seats. However, the party suffered a huge setback with all its three MPs, including party General Secretary Bandi Sanjay, losing the elections. Sitting MLAs Eatala Rajender and M. Raghunandan Rao also failed to retain their seats, which they had won in the by-elections.

New Delhi, Dec 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) The results of the state elections show clearly that the attempts by Congress and Opposition parties to level allegations against the Adani Group have backfired.

In the run-up to the state elections, there was a significant rise in the political rhetoric and series of allegations. In line with this, several such allegations were also levelled against the Adani Group by India’s opposition parties including the Congress.

Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi referred to the Adani Group in major rallies as a part of the poll campaign for Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Telangana.

Rahul Gandhi used statements that were sensational in nature. Many of the facts referred to by Rahul Gandhi have been proven wrong or are currently undergoing investigation. Additionally, some of the statements are outright baseless and lacked any factual basis.

Rahul Gandhi deliberately tried to portray the Adani Group as being opposed to the benefit of India’s poor, needy and the economy in general. These statements were made with an intent to create an atmosphere of uncertainty and target the Adani Group that has contributed to the India growth story. It is important to note that the recent revelations regarding the cash for question scam further dent the credibility of these allegations which are repetitive and rehashed in nature.

The key allegations, claims and remarks made by Rahul Gandhi during the poll rallies included, “Only a Joint Parliamentary Committee led probe can do complete justice in the ongoing Hindenburg matter”, “Loan waivers have been extended to favour the Adani Group to the detriment of India’s larger economic interest, the poor and farmers”, “Government is looking to hand over coal mines by privatising it to favour the Adani Group, which goes against the rights of tribal population”.

The statements showed a deliberate attempt by the Congress to intermix any issue concerning the poor and somehow link it to the Adani Group to gather political mileage and create a negative sentiment against the Central Government, Prime Minister and the Adani Group. Such statements were mixed with local issues (mines in Chhattisgarh or coal fields in Telangana) to provide it a local context.
