New Delhi, Nov 4 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has completed one year and four consecutive days without any operational casualties among its personnel, marking the first such achievement in 47 years. Former CRPF Inspector General Arun Kumar described the achievement as a significant milestone, crediting strategic changes, personnel, ground commanders, senior leadership and the Ministry of Home Affairs for it.
Defence Expert Brigadier Hemant Mahajan (Retd.) attributed the milestone to the improved security situation in areas affected by terrorism, insurgency and Left-Wing Extremism, as well as better coordination among security forces.
The CRPF, which has a strength of approximately 3.5 lakh personnel, is deployed in Jammu and Kashmir, the Northeast, areas affected by Left-Wing Extremism and other locations requiring security and law and order support.
Mahajan said the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir had improved considerably due to sustained operations by the Army and effective coordination among the Army, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police.
He also pointed to a decline in insurgency-related violence in the Northeast, including a reduction in tensions between Naga and Kuki communities.
Referring to Chhattisgarh, Mahajan said Left-Wing Extremism, which had remained active in the Bastar region in recent years, had been wiped out from the state.
He said the improved security environment across these regions had contributed to the CRPF's ability to carry out its operations without suffering casualties.
Meanwhile, former CRPF Inspector General Arun Kumar described the achievement as a significant milestone, crediting personnel at all levels, ground commanders, senior leadership and the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Kumar said strategic changes and improvements in the force's operational approach had played an important role in ensuring that no CRPF personnel were killed in operations during the period.
“This is a significant achievement, and the credit goes to all the personnel, ground commanders, senior leadership and the Ministry of Home Affairs. Strategic changes and improvements in the force's approach have played an important role in achieving this milestone. It is the first time in 47 years that such a feat has been achieved, with no CRPF personnel being martyred during operations,” he said.
He said technological advancements had been among the key factors behind the improved safety of personnel, particularly in areas vulnerable to Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attacks.
“One of the main reasons for there being no casualties is the induction of technology. The vehicles have improved, and thus IED blasts have been somewhat controlled. There are bulletproof jackets too now,” Kumar said.
He added that improvements had also been made in weaponry, operational tactics, Intelligence gathering and medical facilities.
Kumar said internal security challenges continued to evolve, requiring the force to regularly adapt its strategies and operational capabilities.
“Challenging situations are emerging every day. There have been significant challenges in protecting the nation internally, and changes are made accordingly. The incumbent leadership actively keeps everything under their watchful eye,” he said.
He said the CRPF would continue implementing operational and technological improvements to sustain the achievement.
