Akka Trailer Unveils a Fierce Battle for Power Between Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte

Netflix has unveiled the official trailer of Akka, its upcoming crime thriller series starring Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte in lead roles. Set against a gripping world of power, loyalty and revenge, the series promises an intense face-off between two formidable women whose ambitions threaten to change the fate of an entire kingdom. The series is scheduled to premiere exclusively on Netflix on October 30, 2026.

Set in the 1980s in the fictional South Indian city of Pernuru, Akka explores a rare matriarchal society where women dominate the criminal underworld and fiercely protect their territory. At the centre of this world is Bhavani, played by Keerthy Suresh, a powerful leader determined to safeguard her position and preserve the legacy of her sisterhood. Her authority, however, faces a serious challenge when Rudra, portrayed by Radhika Apte, arrives as a dangerous outsider with ambitions of her own.

The trailer offers a glimpse into the escalating conflict between Bhavani and Rudra, as their rivalry threatens to disrupt the established order of Pernuru. What begins as a challenge to an existing power structure gradually develops into a battle shaped by ambition, loyalty, family ties and revenge. With its crime-driven narrative and a setting where women hold absolute power, the series presents a distinctive take on the gangster genre, placing two compelling female characters at the heart of the action.

Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte lead the series with performances that promise an intense clash of personalities and competing ambitions. While Bhavani is determined to protect the empire she commands, Rudra's arrival threatens to unsettle everything she has built. Veteran actor Tanvi Azmi also features in the series, alongside Mahesh Manjrekar, Anshuman Pushkar and Monica Panwar, adding further depth to the ensemble cast.

Written and directed by Dharmaraj Shetty in his directorial debut, Akka is produced by YRF Entertainment, the production banner of Yash Raj Films. The series combines a period setting with the gritty atmosphere of a crime saga, exploring how power is acquired, maintained and challenged in a world governed by shifting loyalties. Its fictional kingdom and matriarchal underworld provide a striking backdrop for the unfolding struggle between its central characters.

With the official trailer now out, Akka is building anticipation among viewers looking for a suspenseful crime drama led by powerful female characters. The rivalry between Bhavani and Rudra, coupled with the series' themes of legacy, betrayal and revenge, sets the stage for a high-stakes showdown. Akka will begin streaming globally on Netflix on October 30, 2026.
