“Well, first of all, for all of us artists who have come to Mumbai—leaving our respective hometowns behind—our journeys almost always began in theatre. That’s where we first started dreaming of acting in films. And now, it’s important to return to that stage, to that art form, and give back some of the love and respect we’ve received. That is a major reason why I am here at Khidkiyaan. And, of course, there’s my elder brother, Mukesh Chhabra—he’s the one who gave me my ‘Mumbai dream’ with Daangal,” Aparshakti said, explaining his reasons for attending the festival.
The actor also spoke warmly about the contribution of casting directors to the film industry and acknowledged Mukesh Chhabra’s role in shaping his career. Emphasising how casting professionals can influence an actor’s journey by recognising their potential and providing opportunities, Aparshakti expressed his appreciation for the filmmaker and casting director. “I believe that casting directors in this city play a vital role in shaping an actor’s journey. Mukesh paaji has done exactly that for me, and I will always be grateful to him. That is why I am here for his festival, Khidkiyaan,” he added. His words reflected the personal bond they share and the gratitude he continues to feel towards someone who helped him pursue his ambitions in Mumbai.
On the work front, Aparshakti revealed that he has wrapped up his first action film, Gunmaaster G9, which stars Emraan Hashmi and Genelia Deshmukh. The actor expressed excitement about stepping into a new genre and seeing the project reach audiences. “Well, I’ve just finished my first action film, Gunmaaster G9. It’s set to release on November 27, so I’m really looking forward to that,” he said. The project marks an interesting addition to Aparshakti’s filmography, offering audiences an opportunity to see him in a different cinematic setting alongside Emraan Hashmi and Genelia Deshmukh.
When asked about box-office success, Aparshakti offered a measured response, explaining that his primary focus remains on the quality of the work rather than predicting commercial outcomes. Acknowledging the uncertainty surrounding a film’s performance, he stressed that success at the box office is never guaranteed. “Look, the primary focus is simply the work itself. As for the box office, who can ever be certain about what will work and what won’t? Anyway, thank you! Thank you so much. Thank you,” the actor said. His response highlighted a practical perspective on an industry where audience preferences and commercial results can be difficult to anticipate.
Aparshakti’s appearance at the Khidkiyaan Theatre Film Festival brought together two important aspects of his career: gratitude for the people who supported his journey and enthusiasm for the projects that lie ahead. His appreciation for Mukesh Chhabra underlined the significance of professional relationships built on trust and encouragement, while his comments about Gunmaaster G9 offered a glimpse into his next cinematic outing. As the actor prepares for the film’s November 27 release, his message remains rooted in the importance of focusing on the craft, honouring one’s beginnings and valuing the people who help make the journey possible.
