Shatrughan Sinha Calls Kunal Kemmu’s Vibe a ‘Surprise Film of the Year’, Praises Preity Zinta and Sparsh Shrivastava

Shatrughan Sinha has given Vibe a big thumbs-up after attending a special screening of the Kunal Kemmu directorial, and his review is packed with praise for the film and its cast. The veteran actor and politician flew in from Delhi for the screening at the invitation of producer Chirag Nihalani and his mother Kantu Nihalani, and clearly walked away impressed. Taking to social media, Sinha described Vibe as a “funfilled, interesting film” made especially for the young generation and went as far as calling it the “surprise film of the year.”

Sinha had plenty to say about Kunal Kemmu, who has directed, written and co-produced the film while also taking on a key acting role. Praising his performance, Sinha said Kunal has “matured as an actor” and had “got into the skin of the role, without going overboard.” He also praised Kemmu’s work behind the camera, calling him a “wonder performer” and saying the filmmaker has made his family, including his mother-in-law Sharmila Tagore, as well as the wider film fraternity proud. That is quite the endorsement from a veteran who has spent decades watching actors make the jump behind the camera.

The praise did not stop there. Sinha singled out Sparsh Shrivastava, known for Laapataa Ladies, calling his performance a “check mate” portrayal and describing him as another “great actor in making.” According to Sinha, Sparsh’s future looks extremely bright, and his performance appears to be one of the elements that really stood out to him. He also mentioned Hiten Paintal, son of veteran actor-comedian Paintal, saying that the young actor “leaves an impression” in the film.

And then there is Preity Zinta, who Sinha described as “the star of the film” and a “surprise packet.” He praised the actress for living her part beautifully, suggesting that her performance is another major reason Vibe works so well. Sinha also appreciated the film’s technical departments, specifically highlighting the sound recording, editing, sound effects and camera work. Calling the production values “worthwhile” and the technical execution “brilliant,” he made it clear that the film impressed him beyond its performances.

The special screening also had a personal touch for Sinha, who acknowledged his longtime connections with Poonam Dhillon, Padmini Kolhapure and the Nihalani family. He revealed that his “bestest half,” wife Poonam Sinha, accompanied him for the screening. Sharing photos from the event, Sinha celebrated the experience while also giving a shout-out to the people behind the film. His review came across less like a routine celebrity endorsement and more like a genuinely enthusiastic reaction to a film that caught him by surprise.

Sinha’s final verdict is particularly interesting because he believes Vibe is tailor-made for today’s younger audience. Calling it a film for “Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Gen..”, he praised its entertainment value, performances and technical craft. With Kunal Kemmu making his mark as a filmmaker, Sparsh Shrivastava winning praise and Preity Zinta bringing her star power to the screen, Vibe seems to have left quite an impression on the veteran actor. And if Shatrughan Sinha is calling it the “surprise film of the year,” the film certainly has some serious buzz going for it.
