Seven IEDs recovered in Abujhmad during Chhattisgarh Police-ITBP operation

Raipur/Narayanpur, Oct 6 (SocialNews.XYZ) In a major success against potential threats in the sensitive Abujhmad region in Chhattisgarh, a joint team of Narayanpur Police and the 29th Battalion of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has recovered six pressure cooker improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and one pipe bomb IED during an intensive search operation.

The recoveries were made on Monday. Superintendent of Police Sandeep Kumar Patel, ITBP Battalion Commandant Abhishek Sood, and Additional Superintendent of Police (Operations) Akshay Sabdra conducted the operation.

Security forces carried out thorough area sanitisation and search operations spanning from the Rainar camp through the Maksoli-Bhatbeda-Rainar belt in Abujhmad.

During the search in the Bhatbeda area, personnel spotted suspicious objects, police officials said. The site was immediately secured, and a detailed combing of the surrounding vicinity followed. This led to the recovery of the six pressure cooker IEDs and the pipe bomb IED from a suspicious dump.

In addition, materials commonly used in the making of such devices were seized. These included one multimeter, one screwdriver, one soldering wire, one soldering iron, and three vehicle-opening keys.

The recovered explosives were safely destroyed on the spot by the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, which operated under strict safety protocols.

The squad was led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Mohan. Officials described the success as the outcome of sustained vigilance, close coordination, and joint efforts by the police and ITBP in the Abujhmad region.

Security forces have been conducting intensive searches continuously to detect and neutralise suspicious activities and explosive materials.

Officials further said that the joint action has further strengthened the security apparatus in the area to protect the general public and maintain a peaceful atmosphere.

The recovery of multiple ready-to-use IEDs along with fabrication tools is seen as the ongoing challenge posed by hidden explosive threats in remote forested zones of Abujhmad, the police officials said and added that continuous operations of this nature remain critical for denying anti-national elements the space to plant or store such devices.

Local residents have been advised to remain alert and promptly report any unusual or suspicious activity to the nearest police or security post, they said.
