Free Fall Trailer: Aleksandr Kuznetsov's Space Thriller Turns A Rescue Mission Into A Terrifying Fight For Survival

Epic Pictures has unveiled the official trailer for Free Fall, an intense new sci-fi thriller that takes the terrifying isolation of deep space and turns it into a fight for survival. Directed by Oleg Urazaykin, the film follows repairman Max after a devastating proton storm leaves him separated from his crew and drifting helplessly through open space. With his spacesuit damaged and communication compromised, Max’s chances of making it back alive appear slim—until a mysterious dispatcher named Anna suddenly reaches out.

Set in the near future, Free Fall imagines a world where humanity has successfully expanded beyond Earth and established a giant orbital station known as Delta. Max, played by Aleksandr Kuznetsov, works as a repairman aboard the station and is accustomed to the dangers of life in space. But everything changes when a proton storm causes a catastrophic disaster, leaving him completely alone and floating through the darkness with his life-support systems failing.

Just when the situation seems hopeless, Anna, voiced and portrayed by Anna Chipovskaya, appears to offer Max a lifeline. As the dispatcher responsible for guiding him back to the Delta station, Anna becomes his only connection to safety. But there is an unsettling catch—the more Max depends on her instructions, the more questions begin to emerge about what she really wants. The trailer cleverly turns what initially looks like a straightforward rescue mission into something far more mysterious.

With no crew around him and nowhere to hide, Max is forced to trust a voice that he cannot see and knows very little about. His damaged spacesuit and lack of communication make every passing moment a potential disaster, while Anna’s mysterious motives add another layer of tension to the story. The film appears to play with the fear of being completely alone while also asking a chilling question: what if the person trying to save you has an agenda of their own?

Alongside Kuznetsov and Chipovskaya, Andrey Merzlikin also stars in the film. Free Fall, also known by its Russian title Свободное падение, marks filmmaker Oleg Urazaykin’s feature directorial debut after previously working on a short film. The screenplay has been written by Alexey Medvedev, Vladimir Stolbenko and Oleg Urazaykin, bringing together survival thriller elements, mystery and science fiction in a story built around one man’s desperate attempt to stay alive.

Free Fall looks set to deliver a tense space thriller where the vastness of the universe becomes Max’s biggest enemy—and perhaps his own instincts could become an even bigger one. With the trailer promising isolation, danger, mystery and a rescue mission that may not be what it seems, the film could offer a gripping take on the survival-in-space genre. Free Fall is scheduled to arrive on October 27, 2026, giving sci-fi fans another reason to keep their eyes on the stars.
