Gujarat: R&B Dept to hold first Chintan Shibir, focus on road sustainability and infra planning

Gandhinagar, Oct 5 (SocialNews.XYZ) Gujarat’s Roads and Buildings Department will hold its first department-level Chintan Shibir on October 8 and 9, with road sustainability, bridge planning and monitoring of building projects among the key issues to be discussed as the state works towards its "Viksit Gujarat-2047" goals.

The two-day Chintan Shibir-2026 will be held at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar under the supervision of Roads and Buildings Secretary P.R. Patelia.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Chief Secretary M.K. Das will attend the first day of the programme.

The theme of the Chintan Shibir is “Accelerating Infrastructure Development for Viksit Gujarat 2047 with Speed, Quality and Pride”.

The discussions will examine the department’s functioning, existing challenges and priorities for future infrastructure development, with an emphasis on practical and implementable solutions.

The department has adopted a bottom-up approach in preparing for the Chintan Shibir, involving officers and employees across levels, from Work Assistants to Chief Engineers.

Chintan Shibirs have already been conducted at the department and circle levels to gather suggestions and identify issues faced by employees working at the grassroots level.

The inputs emerging from these sessions will form the basis of discussions at the two-day event.

The department will also examine the scope for adopting innovative technologies to address infrastructure-related challenges and improve project implementation.

Five areas have been identified for focused deliberations: road sustainability, bridge project planning, building project monitoring, human resources and institutional development, and future-ready governance.

The discussions on road sustainability are expected to focus on long-term approaches to maintaining road infrastructure, while bridge project planning will examine planning-related challenges.

Building project monitoring will be another key area, alongside issues related to human resources and institutional development within the department.

Future-ready governance will constitute the fifth area of focus, with the department seeking to identify approaches that can strengthen its functioning and support infrastructure development over the longer term.

The Chintan Shibir is intended to bring together the experiences and suggestions gathered from employees at different levels and translate them into measures that can be implemented by the department as it plans its infrastructure priorities for the coming years.
