Bratislava, Sep 29 (SocialNews.XYZ) A woman died, and two others were injured after a student attacked an elementary school in Slovakia's Cadca district on Tuesday, local media reported.
A 61-year-old teacher died, and two other people - a teacher and a student were injured after an eighth class student attacked a primary school student with a knife after the first lesson at Staskov in the Cadca district. The injured teacher is out of danger, while the injured student is in critical condition and fighting for her life, Slovakia-based Koktejl reported.
Slovakia's Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok said that the attacker was detained while the case is being handled by the Office for Combating Organised Crime of the Presidium of the Police Force, Koktejl reported.
In a statement shared on Facebook, Slovakia's police stated, "In connection with today's extremely serious incident which occurred in the morning hours in the village of Staskov, the case was taken over by the Office of Fight Against Organised Crime by the Presidency of the Police Force. The suspect is a 13-year-old elementary school pupil."
"Members of the Police Force from several units are on site, the situation is under control and there is no further danger. All necessary due process tasks are being performed. Those cannot be specified at the moment, so that the course of the investigation itself is not disrupted," it added.
The police urged people and media to take information only from verified sources and refrain from sharing unverified information.
Slovakia Prime Minister Robert Fico said that he is following the situation in the school with great concern and the relevant ministers are already on their way to the site of the incident.
In a statement shared on Facebook, Fico stated, "Schools must be safe places for our children; otherwise, we will have no future. I am following the situation after the tragic event in the village of Staskov with great concern."
"I am personally extremely sorry, I express my sincere condolences to the survivors and wish the injured a speedy recovery and a lot of strength. The relevant ministers are already on their way to the scene. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and are ready to provide all necessary assistance," the prime minister wrote on the social network," he added.
