Kushinagar (Uttar Pradesh), Sep 29 (SocialNews.XYZ) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the flood-affected regions in Kushinagar on Tuesday, after the Narayani River embankment breach led to flooding in many areas and forced many families to flee their homes.
The Chief Minister inspected the relief operations, met the flood victims, distributed food packets and relief materials, and assured everyone that the government stands firmly with them during this time of crisis. He told them that the state administration will undertake all steps to provide all possible assistance and support to the affected families.
The Narayani River's AP embankment, near Chain Patti and Jawahi Mali Ehtmali in the Tatwa Tola area, breached late Monday night due to a surge of water from Nepal, causing rapid flooding in adjacent villages.
Following this, the Chief Minister ordered the officials to conduct a quick evacuation from the flood-hit Kushinagar. He also directed the Jal Shakti Minister and Principal Secretary of the Irrigation Department to undertake dredging and channelisation work on the Narayani River once the situation normalises.
The Chief Minister has been monitoring the situation and issuing instructions to officials since Monday night and visited the region on Tuesday. He also conducted an aerial survey to assess the embankment and the areas affected by the breach, and visited the villages to meet the local residents.
He visited villagers who had taken shelter on higher ground, distributing lunch packets and chocolates to children.
While distributing relief materials, he noted that various regions across the state and the country have faced a crisis following four days of torrential rainfall.
Notably, the Narayani River typically receives a flow of 3 to 4 lakh cusecs, but the volume suddenly spiked to 5.5 lakh cusecs on Monday. Consequently, the floodwaters entered several villages situated near the AP embankment.
