Kolkata, Sep 29 (SocialNews.XYZ) West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday criticised Mamata Banerjee's proposed visit to New Delhi for an INDIA bloc meeting, alleging that she is aligning with anti-national forces.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event, Adhikari claimed that the former Chief Minister is engaging with ideological Naxals and requested central agencies to track her engagements in the national capital.
Adhikari alleged that Banerjee’s political activities were a matter of concern, saying everyone knows what she is capable of doing as she believes in the ‘Azadi’ slogan.
“You are going to plan with the so-called dimagi Naxals. Everyone knows what a person who raises slogans of ‘Azadi’ can do. I will ask the Delhi Police and the Central IB to keep a close watch and monitor her movements and ensure that there is no meeting with any anti-national forces. She has now become the chief adviser to the dimagi Naxals. She is moving forward with both the Jamaat and the so-called ideological Naxals,” Adhikari said.
An INDIA bloc meeting is scheduled to be held in New Delhi on Wednesday at the Constitution Club of India.
Mamata, who heads the Mamata All India Trinamool Congress, and party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee are expected to attend the meeting. Opposition leaders are expected to discuss concerns over the Election Commission and the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. The proposed discussions come amid an opposition campaign over the poll panel and electoral roll revision.
Adhikari also spoke about the challenge to the nomination of BJP’s Nandigram bypoll candidate Hasirani Rath. He claimed that the Calcutta High Court had dismissed the Congress petition challenging her educational qualifications and seeking cancellation of her nomination.
"I received reports from the Calcutta High Court that it has dismissed the petition, which was filed by a signboard party against the BJP candidate from Nandigram," said the CM.
Rath is the mother of Adhikari’s former aide Chandranath Rath, who was shot dead in May this year, soon after the assembly election results were declared.
The Nandigram and Rejinagar Assembly by-elections are scheduled for October 6, with counting of votes on October 9.
