The Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF), General Charles Kahariri, hosted the Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya to Indonesia, H.E. Abdirashid Salat Abdille, at the Defence Forces Headquarters in Nairobi on 23 September 2026, for discussions aimed at strengthening Kenya – Indonesia strategic partnership. The meeting also provided an opportunity for both sides to explore areas of mutual interest and reaffirm their commitment to strengthening defence and diplomatic relations.
During the discussion, the two leaders reviewed existing defence cooperation and explored opportunities to deepen collaboration between the Kenya Defence Forces and the Indonesian National Armed Forces. Ambassador Abdille emphasized Indonesia’s commitment to deepening engagement with Kenya and highlighted the growing importance of cooperation between African and Asian nations in responding to emerging global and regional security challenges. He noted that strong diplomatic and defence partnerships remain key and critical in promoting peace across regions.
General Kahariri welcomed the continued engagement between the two countries and underscored the value of international partnership in enhancing future operations of their forces in response to the complex and modern threats.
For the Kenya Defence Forces, engagements with strategic partners remain an important avenue for strengthening defence and security cooperation, promoting professional exchanges and fostering partnerships that contribute to regional and international peace and stability.
