New Delhi, Sep 21 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Delhi Police’s Special Staff has busted an illegal gambling den in the Vishnu Garden area of Khyala in west Delhi and apprehended seven persons, officials said on Monday.
Acting on credible information about gambling activities being conducted at a premises in NW-1, Vishnu Garden, Khyala, a team of the Special Staff conducted a raid under the guidance of senior police officers.
During the raid, seven persons were found indulging in gambling activities and were apprehended at the spot, police said.
A search of the premises led to the recovery of Rs 18,060 in suspected stake money along with Satta slips. Police also recovered 33 quarters of illicit liquor from the premises.
According to the preliminary enquiry, the premises belong to Sobha, wife of Brijpal, who was not present at the time of the raid. Police said she is a bad character (BC) of Khyala Police Station and has 26 previous involvements in crime.
The apprehended persons and the recovered items were handed over to the local police at Khyala Police Station for further legal action, as per law.
The seven apprehended persons have been identified as Sandeep, 37, a resident of Nand Nagari; Arun Kumar, 53, from Khyala; Madan Lal, 38, from Kotla Mubarakpur; Neeraj, 18, from Raghubir Nagar; Mukhtar Singh, 40, from Khyala; Kishan, 45, from Khyala; and Bitu Kumar, 24, from Vishnu Garden.
The police said the operation was part of its continued drive against illegal gambling and other unlawful activities in the West District.
Further investigation into the matter is underway, police said.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of senior officers of the West District Police.
DCP West District Hareshwar V. Swami, IPS, said that action against illegal gambling and other unlawful activities would continue as per law.
