Patna, Sep 18 (SocialNews.XYZ) A young man was shot in the leg following a dispute between two groups at a roadside eatery in Bihar's Vaishali district late on Thursday night, police said on Friday.
The incident occurred at Vinod Singh Line Hotel at Bedauli Chowk near Jaitipur village under the Lalganj police station limits, where customers were having dinner around 10 p.m. when an argument between two groups reportedly escalated into a violent confrontation.
The injured man, identified as Vaidehi Kumar, a resident of Jafarabad village under Sarariya Panchayat, sustained a gunshot wound to his left leg. He was initially provided first aid and later referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for advanced treatment.
Eyewitnesses said shots were fired during the clash, triggering panic among customers and staff, who fled the area.
The eatery operator, Raja Kumar, alleged that some of the individuals involved forcibly took him away in a Scorpio vehicle to an isolated pond area and pressured him to reveal the identities of members of the rival group. He claimed the men abandoned him and fled after learning that police teams were approaching the location.
According to Raja Kumar, around 20 people arrived at the eatery in a Scorpio and a Swift Dzire and got into an argument with a customer already present there, leading to the altercation.
Following information about the shooting, police teams from Lalganj and neighbouring police stations rushed to the spot. Gopal Mandal, SDPO Sadar-2, and Rural SP Sonu Kumar Rai also visited the scene and reviewed the situation.
Police recovered three spent bullet casings from the spot and are examining CCTV footage from nearby locations as part of the investigation. Officials said the alleged shooters have been identified and raids are underway to apprehend them.
SDPO Sadar-2 Gopal Mandal confirmed the recovery of three spent shell casings from the crime scene. Police said no formal complaint has been received so far from either the injured man or the eatery operator.
An FIR will be registered, and further legal action will be initiated once a written complaint is filed.
