Jaipur, Sep 17 (SocialNews.XYZ) The results of the wards that underwent re-polling in the Rajasthan civic body elections have been declared. The Congress won all four remaining wards of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation, while the BJP won two of the three re-poll wards in Kota. In Jodhpur, the BJP won Ward 50 by 83 votes. The results for the remaining four wards of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation were declared, with Congress candidates winning all four seats.
The winners were Kailashi Devi in Ward 9, Bandita Sharma in Ward 18, Rekha Devi in Ward 25 and Suresh in Ward 34.
Results for the three Kota Municipal Corporation wards that underwent re-polling were also declared. Congress candidate Kamlesh Kumari won Ward 11, while BJP candidates Prem Singh and Pushpa Choudhary won Wards 44 and 87, respectively.
The Kota Municipal Corporation has 100 wards. Following the latest results, the BJP has 57 councillors, Congress 39 and Independents four. With 57 seats, the BJP has a majority in the 100-member corporation and will form the board.
Discussions over the party's mayoral candidate are underway at the leadership level. In Suket Municipality, Congress candidate Mohammad Rafiq won Ward 4 by 117 votes.
The result for Ward 50 of the Jodhpur Municipal Corporation was also declared following Wednesday's re-poll. BJP candidate Hemaram Choudhary defeated Congress candidate Yuvraj Singh by 83 votes. Choudhary received 1,725 votes, while Yuvraj Singh secured 1,642 votes, including 1,641 votes recorded through EVMs and one postal ballot.
Among the other candidates, Independent Rinku Mewada received 540 votes, RLP candidate Deepak Jangid secured 155 votes and Independent Deshraj Singh received 113 votes. A total of 82 voters opted for NOTA.
Counting for Ward 50 had earlier been withheld after an EVM malfunction at booth number 338. The Election Commission subsequently ordered a re-poll at the booth on Wednesday, after which the votes were counted and Hemaram Choudhary was declared the winner.
Following the result, the Jodhpur Municipal Corporation has 45 BJP councillors, 44 Congress councillors, one RLP councillor and 10 Independent councillors.
