Bengaluru, Sep 17 (SocialNews.XYZ) A 23-year-old woman was allegedly strangled to death by her husband using the tag of an identity card at a lodge in Doddaballapura city in Chikkaballapura district, located close to Bengaluru, after which he fled the spot, police said on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Vidya, a resident of Nagaregere village in Gauribidanur taluk. Her husband, Anand, is accused of killing her and is currently absconding.
According to preliminary police information, Anand allegedly strangled Vidya using the tag attached to an identity card, causing her death. He allegedly took her mobile phone and fled from the lodge after the incident.
Vidya and Anand had reportedly fallen in love and married around four years ago. The couple has a son and had been living in a rented house in Gandhinagar, Doddaballapura.
The couple had allegedly been facing family disputes for around six months. Following the differences, Vidya had reportedly separated from her husband around two months ago and was staying at a paying guest accommodation in Bengaluru.
Meanwhile, Anand had reportedly filed a complaint with the Doddaballapura Women's Police Station stating that his wife was missing. Around 20 days ago, police traced Vidya, counselled both of them and sent her back with Anand, according to the preliminary information.
However, on Wednesday, Anand allegedly brought Vidya to a lodge in Doddaballapura, where he allegedly strangled her to death before fleeing the spot.
A case has been registered at the Doddaballapura Town Police Station, and police have launched a search for Anand. Police are expected to ascertain the exact circumstances and motive behind the killing after apprehending him.
Further investigation is underway.
