The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 5, Gets A Netflix Premiere Date

The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 5, Gets A Netflix Premiere Date

Get ready to make room for another weekend of laughter, celebrity banter and Kapil Sharma's trademark madness. Netflix has announced the return of The Great Indian Kapil Show with its fifth season, premiering on September 26, 2026, at 8 PM. The new season promises to turn the festive season into a full-blown celebration, with Kapil and his much-loved comedy gang back together for another round of entertainment.

Leading the charge, of course, is Kapil Sharma, who will once again be joined by the familiar faces that have become synonymous with the show. Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda and Archana Puran Singh are set to bring back their signature characters, comic timing and wonderfully unpredictable interactions. Navjot Singh Sidhu is also part of the returning line-up, adding another familiar flavour to the comedy extravaganza.

Netflix is giving the new season a suitably festive identity with “Hasi Ka Tyo-haha-har”, or the “Festival of Laughter”. The platform has previously played around with the show's Saturday-night identity, turning Shanivaar into Funnyvaar, while its growing audience has affectionately become the Parivaar. Now, the comedy universe is expanding once again with what Netflix describes as a larger and louder “mastiverse”.

And the guest list appears ready to keep that celebration going. Season 5 is expected to bring together celebrities, newsmakers and quirky personalities from different walks of life. The show's format will continue to blend celebrity conversations with sketches, playful roasting, candid exchanges and the kind of spontaneous banter that can quickly take an interview completely off the rails.

That unpredictability has always been part of the show's charm. One moment a guest could be discussing a new film or project, and the next they could find themselves caught in one of Kapil's jokes or surrounded by the antics of Krushna, Sunil and Kiku. Netflix's announcement promises exactly that flavour, describing the experience as something that can feel less like a formal interview and more like walking into a chaotic family function.

The new season is also being positioned as a celebration of India in all its colourful variety. Rather than limiting the guest mix to film stars, the show plans to bring personalities representing different facets of the country into the comedy space. That opens the door for conversations that can move between pop culture, entertainment, current personalities and the wonderfully eccentric characters that make Indian social life so entertaining.

The festive timing could make Season 5 particularly suited to family viewing. With celebrations bringing people together across the country, The Great Indian Kapil Show is aiming to become another reason for families to gather around the television — except this time, the family WhatsApp groups may have some competition when it comes to delivering the evening's biggest jokes.

For Kapil Sharma and his team, the return also continues the show's journey as one of India's most recognisable comedy properties. The combination of celebrity guests, recurring performers and improvisational humour has given the franchise a format audiences instantly recognise, while its Netflix home has allowed the comedy to reach viewers beyond the traditional television audience.

The countdown to the next round of Funnyvaar has officially begun. The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 5 premieres September 26 at 8 PM, only on Netflix. With Kapil Sharma, Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Archana Puran Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu back in the mix, the festive season is about to get considerably louder — and quite possibly a lot more chaotic.
