Patna, Sep 15 (SocialNews.XYZ) Thousands of students and competitive-exam aspirants took to the streets of Patna on Tuesday, raising demands related to various recruitment examinations and attempting to march towards Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary’s residence.
The protesters, many of them aspirants for the 70th Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination and Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment, also included students associated with other recruitment processes, including the Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC).
The protesters broke through police barricades and managed to reach the Assembly overbridge after evading security personnel.
Police initially attempted to stop them near J.P. Golambar, but the students moved ahead through Exhibition Road.
With inadequate barricading on the overbridge, the protesters found an open route and proceeded towards the Assembly.
As police received information that the protesters were moving towards the Assembly, security personnel were mobilised to intercept them.
When the students reached the Assembly overbridge, police halted their advance.
The main gate of the Assembly was also closed as a security precaution.
A confrontation subsequently took place between the protesters and police, with heated exchanges and scuffles reported during the effort to stop the students from moving further.
The protesters raised slogans against the government and demanded reforms in the examination and recruitment system.
Their demands include measures to ensure transparency and fairness in competitive examinations and action on grievances related to various recruitment processes.
According to Patna Police, the situation was brought under control before the protesters could advance towards the Assembly gate or the Chief Minister’s residence.
Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma said police personnel acted promptly and cautiously to prevent the protesters from entering sensitive areas.
Security has now been intensified around the Bihar Assembly and other sensitive locations in the city.
A heavy police deployment has been put in place, while personnel are closely monitoring the situation to prevent further movement of the protesters.
Officials said the situation remains under control and that continuous surveillance is being maintained as a precautionary measure to ensure law and order.
