Bengaluru, Sep 15 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Enforcement Directorate (ED) finalised a clear roadmap for fuller use of technology and forensic capability, fast-tracking of trials and convictions at the two-day 36th Quarterly Conference of Zonal Officers here, an official said on Tuesday.
The conference, held at the Indian Institute of Management, Bengaluru, concluded on Tuesday with the ED reaffirming its commitment to fair enforcement of the laws entrusted to it and to protect the integrity of India's financial system.
In a message on social media platform X, the ED said, "The Enforcement Directorate (ED) successfully conducted its 36th Quarterly Conference of Zonal Officers (QCZO) at Indian Institute of Management, Bengaluru (IIM-B) on September 14-15, preceded by a Management and Leadership Workshop by IIM-B faculties on September 13."
"The conference concluded with a clear roadmap for the coming quarter -- time-bound implementation of the cadre restructuring, fuller use of technology and forensic capability, fast-tracking of trials and convictions, and sustained pursuit of restitution to the victims of economic crime," it added.
"The sessions at the workshop were led by the faculty of IIM-B and by international experts. They covered the future of financial investigation in the context of India's digital public infrastructure, the use of Artificial Intelligence and data analytics in economic crime investigation and the attendant risks of deepfakes and Al-enabled fraud, cyber threats and international cooperation," a statement said.
Inputs from a Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation attached to the United States Embassy in New Delhi added value to the discussions, the statement added.
Issues like asset-tracing and recovery were also discussed with knowledge sharing through the Stolen Asset Recovery Initiative of the World Bank Group, it said.
"The recurring theme across the sessions was the need to move from a case-centred to an ecosystem-centred approach to investigation, to harness technology and data analytics while remaining alive to the risks they carry, and to strengthen institutional capacity," the statement said.
