All roads in Uttrakhand must be made pothole-free soon: CM Dhami

Dehradun, Sep 14 (SocialNews.XYZ) Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday directed officials to ensure that all roads across the state are made pothole-free at the earliest.

Reviewing various public interest issues at the Secretariat, he instructed that repair and improvement of roads damaged during the monsoon must be expedited. District Magistrates were asked to regularly review road conditions in their districts and monitor the work of concerned departments and executing agencies. Special attention must be given to quality in construction and repair works. The Chief Minister announced that after October 15, he would personally conduct surprise inspections by travelling on the roads.

On arrangements for the Char Dham Yatra, Dhami directed that all facilities be maintained at a high standard. Prioritising the convenience and safety of pilgrims, he ordered regular monitoring of traffic, healthcare, drinking water, sanitation and other essential services along the routes.

Relevant District Magistrates and departments must ensure smooth operations through close coordination. The Chief Minister laid special emphasis on making the third phase of the ‘Jan-Jan ki Sarkar, Jan-Jan ke Dwar’ initiative more effective.

He said the maximum number of people should receive benefits of government schemes and services through these camps, with public grievances resolved on the spot wherever possible.

The objective, he noted, is to bring the government and administration closer to the people and ensure quick resolution of their problems.

Reviewing preparations for the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, Dhami directed effective implementation of the proposed programmes. He stressed connecting the maximum number of people with government schemes and services, with public service, participation and welfare at the core. Broad public participation must be ensured in campaign events.

The Chief Minister also instructed that all necessary preparations be made to prevent infectious and water-borne diseases, including swine flu. District Magistrates should periodically inspect hospitals, review cleanliness standards and the availability of essential medicines and medical supplies. The Health Department and district administrations must work in coordination on prevention, treatment and control measures, with the situation monitored regularly.

Dhami underlined that there should be no laxity at any level in public welfare initiatives. Officials must work in coordination to ensure that benefits of government schemes reach eligible beneficiaries in a timely manner, he said.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretaries RK Sudhanshu, L Fanai and R Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary Shailesh Bagauli, Director General of Police Deepam Seth, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (HoFF) Kapil Lal, various secretaries, heads of departments and all District Magistrates who joined virtually.
