Udta Teer First Poster Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan Film Set for October Release

Udta Teer First Poster Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan Film Set for October Release

Dharma Productions has unveiled the first poster and release date of its upcoming action comedy Udta Teer, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan. The film is set to arrive in cinemas on October 9, 2026, and its quirky first look immediately hints at a chaotic mix of patriotism, border drama, confusion and action. Sharing the announcement, Dharma Productions wrote, “Deshbhakti toh yaad hai...par desh nahi,” followed by a playful promise of “unlimited chaos, confusion and action.”

The first poster gives audiences a colourful glimpse into the unusual world of Udta Teer. Ayushmann Khurrana is seen lounging casually in a hammock stretched between pillars representing the India and Pakistan borders, while holding a mysterious “Top Secret” box. The deliberately absurd visual appears to capture the film’s satirical approach to a subject that has traditionally been treated with considerable seriousness. Instead of revealing too much about the plot, the poster leaves viewers wondering exactly what kind of trouble Ayushmann’s character has found himself in.

Udta Teer brings Ayushmann and Sara together for a story that appears to combine action with comedy and political satire. While the makers have kept much of the narrative under wraps, the tagline and first poster suggest that border-related confusion will play a major role in the film. The promise of high-octane action alongside comedy could give the project a distinctive flavour, particularly with the unusual premise teased by the first look.

The film marks the directorial debut of Akash A Kaushik, who has also written the project. Behind the film is an interesting combination of major production names, with Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain backing the project. Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment are collaborating once again, making Udta Teer their fourth association after Kill, Gyaarah Gyaarah and The Lunchbox.

The collaboration between Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment is particularly interesting because their previous projects have explored very different genres and storytelling styles. From the intense action of Kill to the mystery-driven world of Gyaarah Gyaarah and the acclaimed drama The Lunchbox, the partnership has produced films with distinctive identities. Udta Teer appears ready to add another genre to that list, this time combining mainstream entertainment with an irreverent take on patriotism and border politics.

For Ayushmann Khurrana, the project offers another opportunity to step into an unconventional mainstream role. The actor has built a reputation for choosing films with unusual premises, and the bizarre visual language of Udta Teer suggests that this could once again be a departure from the ordinary. Sara Ali Khan, meanwhile, joins him as the film’s female lead, with the makers yet to reveal much about her character. Their pairing is likely to be one of the key attractions as the promotional campaign gathers momentum.

The timing of the announcement also gives the film a clear target as the festive movie season approaches. With its October 9, 2026 theatrical release, Udta Teer will be looking to attract audiences with a combination of comedy, action and an intentionally chaotic premise. The first poster has already done its job of raising questions, particularly with Ayushmann casually relaxing between two border pillars while carrying a supposedly top-secret box.

As the countdown begins, audiences will be waiting for more details about the story, Sara Ali Khan’s role and the kind of action-comedy experience Akash A Kaushik has created for his directorial debut. For now, Udta Teer is keeping things deliberately mysterious, but its first poster certainly suggests that this is not going to be a conventional patriotic drama. With Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan leading the cast and Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment joining forces again, the film has plenty of reasons to stay on the radar ahead of its October release.
