Ranchi, Sep 7 (SocialNews.XYZ) Police in Jharkhand's Ranchi on Monday safely recovered Saurabh, the son of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) MLA, Janardan Paswan, about one-and-a-half hours after receiving information that he had allegedly been abducted near a university campus, officials said.
Preliminary questioning has indicated that he had gone with his friends voluntarily, police said.
Saurabh, a law student at Amity University in Ranchi, was traced and recovered from the Assembly police station area after a swift search operation launched by multiple police teams. He is currently being questioned by investigators.
Earlier in the day, MLA Janardan Paswan informed police that his son had been abducted by unidentified persons near the main gate of Amity University.
According to the legislator, a group of men arriving in three to four Scorpio SUVs assaulted his son and forcibly took him away. He had also claimed that Saurabh's mobile phone was switched off and that his Thar vehicle was found parked outside the university gate.
Following the complaint, police, acting on the directions of the Senior Superintendent of Police, formed multiple teams and launched an intensive search operation.
Investigators examined CCTV footage from the university campus and nearby areas while also checking vehicles on key routes.
During the operation, police tracked Saurabh's mobile phone location and located him safely within about 90 minutes in the Assembly police station jurisdiction.
Officials are now questioning Saurabh and some of his friends to establish the sequence of events.
Investigators are trying to determine when and under what circumstances he left the university campus and with whom he remained thereafter.
Police are also examining the MLA's allegations of abduction and assault. Officials said the exact nature of the incident would become clear only after the completion of the ongoing investigation and questioning.
