Koppal (Karnataka), Sep 5 (SocialNews.XYZ) The BJP’s Ballari Chalo padyatra entered its fifth day on Saturday, with BJP State President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra and other leaders felicitating retired teachers in Karatagi on the occasion of Teachers’ Day.
The padayatra will commence from Karatagi town and conclude at Jangamarakalgudi. The protest march will cover 22 kilometres today.
Addressing the gathering, Vijayendra said Teachers’ Day was being celebrated meaningfully and on a grand scale to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, an educationist and former President of India who devoted himself to the service of the nation.
He said teachers were not merely educators who impart lessons but played a crucial role in shaping the bright future of children.
“Teachers have a significant role in building the personality of children. A good teacher can transform an entire generation,” Vijayendra said.
He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had emphasised the important role of teachers in guiding the youth in the right direction towards building a developed India by 2047.
Vijayendra said teachers silently contributed to nation-building and urged society to recognise and honour their contribution.
Vijayendra further stated, "The fourth day of the ‘Ballari Chalo’ Janakrosha padyatra concluded amid an unprecedented outpouring of public support and the unwavering enthusiasm of party workers.
"The growing public anger, expressed as the voice of the underprivileged, a platform for dialogue with traders, and accompanied by the blessings of mothers, has become a warning bell for the corrupt government."
Vijayendra further criticised Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s aerial survey of the drought-hit areas, stated, "Honorable Chief Minister, the tears of farmers who have lost their crops to drought won't be visible from a helicopter. To understand the plight of parched land and the struggling farmer, one must be on the ground, among the people!"
"Surveying drought from a helicopter is a theatrical farce of drought assessment, a mockery of the suffering people," Vijayendra alleged.
