Never witnessed this kind of mistreatment in House, says ex-Haryana CM Hooda

Chandigarh, Sep 1 (SocialNews.XYZ) Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Wednesday that he has never witnessed the kind of mistreatment endured during this Monsoon session of State Assembly in his political career.

"The authoritarian attitude displayed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, even towards senior MLAs, will be recorded as a dark chapter in the history of the Legislative Assembly. Not only were MLAs staging peaceful protests manhandled, but they were not even informed on whose orders this action was taken," he told the media here a day after the three-day session ended.

Leader of Opposition Hooda said the BJP did nothing but lie and mislead the House throughout the session.

"The government failed to provide clear answers to any of the Opposition's questions and appeared to get entangled in its own web of lies."

He exposed the lies told by the government regarding the Kaushal Nigam and sanitation workers with facts and figures.

He said that the BJP secured the votes of skill workers by lying during the elections and floated a poll gimmick promising to regularise their employment until retirement.

"Now, as the Congress demands that the BJP fulfill its election promise, the Chief Minister (Nayab Singh Saini) himself has stated in the House that the Kaushal Nigam is merely an alternative arrangement and that workers employed under it can be removed from their jobs at any time. The Chief Minister admitted that this is not permanent employment and offers no job security. In effect, the government has itself exposed its own lie to the entire state through the proceedings of the House," the two-time Chief Minister Hooda added.

He said the plight of skill workers today is such that they are neither truly unemployed nor do they hold salaried positions.

"They have been reduced to daily wagers. These young skill workers are helpless and are facing repeated exploitation."

"Similarly, a government Minister also told a massive lie regarding sanitation workers. He stated that the demands of the sanitation workers could not be met and that a policy to regularise their employment within two years could not be formulated. He also falsely claimed that the Congress had only formulated a policy to regularise employees who had served for ten years," Hooda added.

Displaying the relevant notifications, Hooda said that during the Congress tenure two policies were formulated -- one on June 16, 2014, and another on June 18, 2014, deciding to regularise employees who had completed three years of service.

"Moreover, these policies were upheld by courts, ranging from the High Court to the Supreme Court. In contrast, the BJP made every effort to remove employees hired under these policies and prevent their regularisation."

Hooda asked why the BJP could not formulate a similar policy for sanitation workers if the Congress could do so.

"The reason they (BJP government) are not doing it is that this government is anti-poor, anti-Dalit, and anti-backward class. It is unwilling to take any decision in their favour," he claimed.

Hooda said a movement by contractual employees is underway across the state.

"Due to the government ignoring the sanitation workers' demands, piles of garbage have accumulated throughout the state. During the Congress government's tenure, 11,000 rural and 14,000 urban sanitation workers were appointed, yet the BJP government has not regularised them till date."

"We (Congress) demand that a proposal to regularise these employees be introduced in the Legislative Assembly, despite being in the Opposition, we will support it," the former Chief Minister Hooda added.
