Mumbai, September 2 (SocialNews.XYZ) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Wednesday that the Maharashtra Land Bank digital system will accelerate the development of infrastructure projects across the state and ensure the guaranteed availability of land for compensatory afforestation.
The Maharashtra Land Bank digital system -- a unified dashboard -- has been developed to consolidate information on land owned by various state government departments onto a single platform.
The system was officially launched following Tuesday's Cabinet meeting.
Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) Vikas Kharge, Additional Chief Secretary (Forest) Milind Mhaiskar, and Settlement Commissioner Shailesh Naval presented a detailed briefing on the dashboard, the government statement said.
By bringing all government land data under one digital umbrella, the Maharashtra Land Bank aims to streamline land searching, verification, and allocation processes.
"The system supports optimal land utilisation, rapid department-specific land mapping, reduced decision-making delays, and enhanced administrative transparency. Furthermore, it enables comprehensive performance reviews via department-, district-, taluka-, and village-wise data aggregation and progress tracking," the Chief Minister said.
"As an integrated digital framework for data-driven management of public land, the initiative synthesises land records, physical site inspections, GIS analysis, and MIS reporting to render state land governance efficient, transparent, and swift. Previously, fragmented land records across multiple administrative levels created hurdles in accessing timely information regarding land availability, current status, area, usage, and conditions of allocation violations. The Maharashtra Land Bank integrated digital system was specifically engineered to resolve these bottlenecks by offering a single, updated repository," the statement added.
Key operational features of the Land Bank System include record verification, on site inspection and validation, integrated data repository, taluka. level access, GIS based analytics and digital land requisition process.
According to the government statement, the Land Bank System will be useful to conduct initial checks of survey numbers, total area, and land classifications based on e-Pherphat (electronic mutation records) and existing documentation, field inspections to verify physical ground reality, remaining unallocated area, and instances of condition violations and aggregation of fragmented data sources into a secure digital central repository.
There will be also be a dedicated portal logins for Tehsildars to update allocation statuses and log condition breaches for government lands and Occupant Class-II (Bhogwatdar Varg-2) lands.
"The location-aware mapping will be instrumental to conduct spatial analysis of available land parcels and pending allocation matters. End-to-end online workflows for government departments will be helpful to submit requisitions, register applications, and undergo scrutiny, verification, and approval. The portal also features real-time site inspection logging complete with GPS coordinates, timestamps, and date stamps," the statement said.
