Patna, Sep 2 (SocialNews.XYZ) Demands to strengthen the security of Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ramvilas) chief Chirag Paswan have intensified following a death threat issued against him.
A seven-member delegation of the LJP (Ramvilas) met Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar on Wednesday and sought immediate action in the matter.
Led by state president Vivek Vishwas, the delegation included Legislative Council member Ashraf Ansari and party MLA Raju Tiwari.
The delegation met the DGP at Sardar Patel Bhawan and discussed the threat received by Paswan, the police action taken so far and his existing security arrangements.
The party leaders urged the police to identify the person who allegedly issued the threat at the earliest and take strict action against the individual.
They also called for a review of Paswan's security arrangements and sought further strengthening of his protection.
After the meeting, Vivek Vishwas and Raju Tiwari said the police had taken the matter seriously. They added that DGP Vinay Kumar assured the delegation of full cooperation and necessary action.
According to party leaders, Chirag Paswan received a death threat through a letter.
Police are currently attempting to identify and trace the person responsible for sending it.
The LJP (Ramvilas) has demanded prompt action against the person behind the threat and a comprehensive review of the Union Minister's security arrangements.
Earlier, the party had also approached the Union Home Ministry seeking an upgrade in Chirag Paswan's security cover.
The death threat against Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) national president Chirag Paswan has triggered concern in political and administrative circles.
An unsigned communication received by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries reportedly claimed that Paswan would soon be killed by “hardcore terrorists” and mentioned two mobile numbers.
Following the development, Alok Kumar Singh, Additional Private Secretary to the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, wrote to the Union Home Secretary on September 1, seeking an immediate and thorough investigation into the origin, authenticity and circumstances surrounding the threat.
The communication highlighted that Chirag Paswan is currently provided Z-category security by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Given the seriousness of the threat, the ministry has sought a review of his security arrangements and additional security measures, particularly ahead of his upcoming public engagements.
