Lucknow, Aug 31 (SocialNews.XYZ) With Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2027 around the corner, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Monday hit out at rival parties over what she described as attempts to influence voters through freebies, attractive promises, and pre-election announcements.
She urged the electorate to remain vigilant against efforts to secure votes by offering personal benefits. She also instructed the party workers and leaders, from state level to booth-level committees, to speed up preparations for bringing the BSP back to power, in Uttar Pradesh.
Reviewing the party’s election preparedness at a meeting in Lucknow, Mayawati reviewed progress on candidate selection, organisational strengthening and booth-level activities. She called upon party workers to accelerate campaign efforts and work more effectively to expand the BSP's outreach.
The BSP supremo said party leaders and workers must counter the tactics of rival parties and work with full strength to ensure the BSP forms the next government in the state.
She expressed concern over attempts by the political parties to sway voters, particularly women, through "freebies", incentives and election-time promises.
According to her, repeated instances of governments failing to fulfil commitments after elections have made it necessary to warn voters in advance against what she termed electoral deception.
Mayawati appealed to voters to exercise their franchise freely, without any influence from rival parties. She said the issue should be viewed not merely from a political point of view but also from the perspective of national and public interest.
She criticised governments in various states for alleged unfulfilled promises, betrayal of public trust and negligence towards public welfare, asserting that the BSP continues to oppose such practices.
She also referred to growing public dissatisfaction, saying even younger generations, including Gen Z and Gen Alpha, are increasingly speaking out against what they perceive as anti-people policies and are facing legal and administrative action in the process. Governments, she said, have a constitutional responsibility to work for citizens throughout their tenure rather than relying solely on poll season announcements.
Targeting governments over inflation, poverty, unemployment and underdevelopment, Mayawati said these challenges were forcing many people from Uttar Pradesh to migrate to other states in search of opportunities. She argued that electoral promises made during campaigns often fail to provide lasting solutions to citizens’ problems and amount to little more than political rhetoric.
Highlighting the BSP’s record in office, she claimed that her government had worked continuously without waiting for electoral considerations and had delivered significant achievements in social transformation and economic empowerment.
The meeting also discussed preparations for the October 9 death anniversary of BSP founder Kanshi Ram. Mayawati directed party workers to organise the programme with full dedication to the movement’s mission.
She said the event would be held at the Kanshi Ram Memorial complex near the Buddha Smriti Upvan on Lucknow’s VIP Road and would draw participants from across the state, including western Uttar Pradesh.
